[Keith Smith] on Twitter: Some fun numbers! The NBA getting $7B per year for media rights will likely lock in 10% cap growth (that is the max the cap can go up) per season starting in 2025-26. If so, the cap will top $200M in the 2028-29 season. A 35% max salary that year projects to be $72M.

This is something to monitor as the Knicks window to give a new deal for Brunson and Randle opens soon also the OG and IHart deals are coming up now as we know. If the Knicks “overpay” now it might be a great thing moving foward and hell if Brunson actually leaves 140M on the table yeah we could get another star just by the whole cap jump lol

  2. This update shows us that if Randle and Brunson sign the lower immediate extension it will open up a LOT of cap flexibility for us compared to other contenders.

Knicks aside 72 million is crazy. At some point the cap growth has to stop/turn negative. Some teams are going to be caught holding horrendous bags.

Also if Wembanyama is healthy and plays into his mid 30s he could easily eclipse a billion in career earnings.
