Anthony Edwards & Jaden McDaniels Talk Game 1 Loss vs Mavericks, Full Postgame Interview

Jaden it seemed like you had a really good rhythm going offensively especially early tonight what do you think was that carry over from the confidence you built the last couple of games in the last series or how are you feeling that one yeah just shooting the ball with confidence I mean just working on my game every day and just being confident in it so there nothing different for me just keep shooting and not worry about the misses and you um took a lot of Threes tonight was that just is that their Rim protection that is affecting your your shot selection or how did you see your offense kind of come together uh I mean they’re down the floor the big man is he’s not super high up like the last two series um and we didn’t really know what to expect I mean you know so came off and was open a bunch of times and took the shots and I’ll make them next time I live with it Jaden excuse me Jaden the bulk of your offensive prod production was through the first three quarters and then also defensively your number against Luca were a lot stronger the first three quarters than last did you see anything shift on either side of the ball for you in the fourth no I mean he just start making shots I mean I was playing the same defense he was just making it with my hand in his face and then offensively just same thing I mean just missing shots I’m not worried and you talked to yesterday about or today about just adjusting to a different team you Dallas plays so differently like it do you think it just takes a game to kind of figure out a little bit different approach and how do you figure you kind of bounce back from this one uh I don’t know I I think we just came out we came out flat today I mean and then we found our energy then we went back to being flat so I think it was just on us everything was on us today um I didn’t get downhill as much um yeah just stuff like that we was just a little tired probably for both of you guys you kind of between the two of you and n and Kyle as well kind of cycled who was guarding Luca and and Kyrie uh how does that work kind of choosing who who gets it and how did you guys feel like you handled those matchups today uh I mean it’s if Jaden’s in the game and just one of those guys in the game Jaden is probably going to guard one of them um but if both of them are in a game and it’s me and J then me and J going to be on them or if nikelle all three of us is in the game and I’m a little tired I tell nil to give me a break but I think we did a pretty good job man both of them took 24 Shots LCA took 26 Kyrie took 23 actually had 30 and 33 so I think we did a pretty good job and you kind of mentioned uh in the last series with the long layup between games two and three you thought that might have affected you you kind of alluded to a moment ago did you think that the high from from game seven maybe kind of affected you guys coming in in it today at all yeah for sure I mean y’all can see it it was a little a step a step behind everybody especially myself um Kyrie got a transition layup from I think we scored and he just outran me I was just exhausted man so yeah for sure um but we’ll be all right any other question so the first couple uh so the first couple series see like they had uh games with wider margins as far as you know wi wins or losses in this game uh the first one coming down to you know a lot of key possessions at the end of the game can you see that being the story of this series um I don’t know man um I don’t think we played our best basketball tonight one through 15 uh I think Jen was the only one that came ready to play tonight and um I think everybody else let him down so I think if we bring our best uh bring of basketball to uh whenever when is it Friday I think we’ll see what type of game it’ll be Friday everybody will bring their best brand uh brand of basketball front of timber wolves and we’ll see how it go last question John janen do you think is it just a matter of just tightening things up a little bit and doing it better are there big adjustments that you think you have to make between one and two no I think we just got to do the small things a little better I mean they got like a couple offensive rebounds at the end and turn like turned it to points so I mean just just a little things for real yes sir

  1. Even Kyrie said he wants to run on them after playing 7 Games that their legs will be tired, during the in game side interview

  2. The Timberwolves lost this game because they purposely went for the harder points instead of the more efficient points ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY. They are bigger and better in the post but instead of repeated post ups and going for the 3 as a last resort, they went for the 3 almost every single time. This kept Dallas in the game. They did this same stupid crap against the Nuggets too. If they hope to win the series they have get 70% of their points from the post-up, the lay-up & the pick and pop in the lane. That's all Dallas did; and only Kyrie was able to pull off the lay-up with real consistency!

  3. It's too late Ant. I knew the wolves would lose that 1st game in the 1st quarter. Edwards and towns decided to settle instead on being aggressive. Edwards talking about being tired when they had 2 days rest B4 the series. After series starts it's only one day rest between games. So being tired with 2 days of rest is no excuse at all because now there won't be any rest. Edwards failed to understand the magnitude of the situation. He played as though it wasn't a big deal. Like there would be many other opportunities and now he's dug himself in a hole because of himself. Never seen him look gassed like he did in that first half
Unfortunately for Edwards the buck stops here. He let that game one slip away and I guarantee you he's not recovering from this. Opportunity like these comes once in a lifetime for wolves fans and the team fails to grab the bulls by the horn. A championship is not gonna get served to you on a silver platter. You have to take it. Soon enough after he gets eliminated Edwards will know that it's not that easy getting back here. Wolves haven't been here for 20 years and have never been to a NBA finals. If the wolves don't win that championship this year they will never win one it's that simple. For those fans that think now we got Edwards we got a chance y'all in for a rude awakening. You have the team for a championship now with pretty much everyone healthy. And we all know how that situation could change very fast with player injuries and transfers meaning this core won't be together long. Edwards messed up and This series is ova with. Watch next year and see for yourself. They won't make it back here. That's a bet. Oh well. MN sports teams for you. They never know how to seize a moment and never fail to let their fans down.

  4. "we did a pretty good job!" both Kyrie and Luka had 30+ pt. Ant is either over confident or just not respecting the moment. You can't allow 60+ points from your top players and say you did pretty good.

  5. Edwards was drained after the game. It wasn't from chasing old Irving, but more from chasing the game itself. Kobe used to do that before he learned that the harder you chase it, the farther it tends to get away from you. Game 2 will have a different winner.

  6. Jst like okc the wolves could t stop lukie from owning the lane what’s so hard about not letting lukie have the damn lane to the basket

  7. F being tired this is the conference finals your team has never won a championship let alone be in the finals
You can rest in the offseason
Just take it one game at a time and collectively play better as a team and the Minnesota Timberwolves could win their first NBA championship but no one said it was going to be easy

  8. They need to take out rudy or make him play more aggressive on offense keep naz at the 4 towns at the 5 run pick and rolls and kill mavs

  9. The tiredness reminds me of the Vikings after the Minneapolis Miracle. Thankfully this is a 7 game series
