Heat Rumors On Donovan Mitchell: Staying With Cavs After J.B. Bickerstaff Fired? Bam Extension News

[Music] what’s up Pete F Nick rolloff here of the heat report by chat sports on today’s show is Donovan Mitchell actually staying in Cleveland I know a lot of Heat fans are hoping he gets dealt but will he stay with the Cavs and on the second portion of today’s video bam at a bio extension news has dropped after all NBA teams were announced last night we have to talk about bam because well he morning and this came from Adrien wojanowski who said ESPN sources the Cleveland Cavaliers dismissed which by the way dismissed might be the nicest term ever used for fired are we just say he got fired man that’s what happened here but either way JB bicker staff and then he went down to say bicker staff led the Cavs to the conference semi-finals 199 regular season games past two years blah blah blah blah blah but now they have changed and hoped to make advancing deeper into the postseason but the real reason why I’m showcasing this is because what does this mean for Donovan Mitchell does it make it more likely that he is going to be dealt this off season from Cleveland or was there some BL Bad Blood between the two and this makes it more likely that he’s going to stay well Jam Shir did have this important note that I wanted to share with all of you he said in perhaps most important importantly when referring to the JB Baker staff firing cavar Donan Mitchell among other players did not have great confidence in bicker staff as the coach for the future numerous League sources have said for most of the season so to me by them firing bicker staff which by the way did not deserve to get fired you can make some judgments about how Cleveland has finished the season in two of the his last two seasons obviously not finishing the regular season well this past year um they did still win a series The Year prior they didn’t finish too strong lose in a very quick series to the New York kns I get that they have not finished the year strong but 99 wins through two years in Cleveland like that’s pretty good and I don’t know if there’s any other coaches out there that are better than bicker staff so to me if they’re firing him and moving on from him to me this is a clear sign that they’re trying to convince Donovan Mitchell that they will make him happy and do everything in their power to make sure he is happy in Cleveland and has a place to win and this kind of gets parlayed by sham shirana also saying this on his FanDuel show this morning that he said a lot of optimism around the Cavs is that they’re going to get a commitment from Mitchell on that 4year $28 million extension he is eligible for and he is not the only reporter to share that same exact sentiment ESPN’s Brian windhorse also said that now I will say windy has went back and forth because he said that no one knows what’s going to happen but then he also said at least some Cavs people feel pretty optimistic about the chances of resigning or not resigning but extending Donovan Mitchell it will be a fascinating situation that we have to keep our eye out for over the next month and a half in the NBA off season and he is the largest domino to fall more to come on the Don Mitchell situation and what I think about all of this news dropping today but I want to get your thoughts and your prediction down below is Donovan Mitchell going to stay with the Cleveland Cav aers and sign that long-term extension if you believe he will type y for yes if you think he’s outa type your end I’ll say this and this is kind of where I land on the situation I have to see it to believe it I get it Shams has sources tapped in Wendy has sources tapped in they fire bicker staff to try to make Mitchell and some of the other players happy but I do believe that Donovan Mitchell knows and realizes he is likely not going to be able to win an NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers long term like Evan MO is a cool player but I don’t know how high his ceiling really is I was high on Moy in his first couple of years but this past season I was just disappointed with his offensive growth Garland seems to be on the outs if Mitchell resigns like they don’t have another Superstar if you will to pair up with Mitchell and Cleveland and the Cavs are not a destination people are going to want to go to in free agency or if they’re available on the trade market like they might not want to sign longterm in Cleveland I think Donovan Mitchell knows that so the only reason why to me people might say Mitchell would want to stay in Cleveland is to get the money but here’s the thing the money is a non-factor in this situation because there are times where you are eligible for a larger extension in the team and City you are at right now and you would not get that same money on a different team but that isn’t the case here because if Donovan Mitchell gets traded in this off season the bird rights follow him to whatever team he’s on so he would still be eligible to sign that supermax 4year 208 million doll extension with whatever team traded for Donan Mitchell so to me it’s not about the money and him staying there and if he really does care about winning I would expect him to still signify to the front office that he wants to be be traded by not signing that long-term extension all right coming up later on in the show in just a second bam in a bio extension news I want to talk absolutely affected and the Miami Heat were absolutely affected by what happened last night and it actually benefits the Miami Heat so not good for bam good for Mickey Arison Pat Riley and the rest of this heat front office but when you look at what the all NBA teams were SGA yic Luca donic Giannis and Jason Tatum were your first team all NBA Jaylen Brunson Anthony Edwards Kevin Durant Kawhi Leonard Anthony Davis were on your second team and then you had LeBron Steph sabonis halberton and Devin Booker on the third team which by the way why the is Damonte sabonis on the third team What do the vot voters have on or what does the bonus have on the voters really because he got a deoy vote which is asinine he got vote to be on the all defensive team also asinine like this dude is not good he’s not on Bam’s level and whatever that’s a different story for different day I starting to get fired up but we have to get back on the train tracks and talk about bam at a bios extension because him not making one of these three teams does have massive financial implications for himself and the Miami Heat and I kind of hinted that at the top of the show and you might be wondering well how does this have implications on bam in Miami well we’ll get to that in just a second because there is a massive Gap in money he could sign in extension because he did not make an all NBA team but if he was named to the top three all NBA teams he would have been eligible to sign an extension that was worth $245 million over four years yeah that’s quite the bag for bam at 60 mil a year but because he did not make an all NBA team the result is he could now only sign a three-year extension worth up to $165 million he is under contract for a couple more seasons though just for you know through the 25 26 Season so it’s not like the heat need to extend him right now but if he did want to sign an extension now he would be getting that three-year $165 million deal that would kick in in 2627 rather than getting the four for 245 that’s a pretty tough blow for bamman that’s an 80 million difference for at a bio and to me I think he deserves that type of contract I mean Jaylen Brown is getting paid $60 million a year from the Boston Celtics I know Brown had a great year and he plays a pretty premium position on the wing and is a 24 Point per game scorer but I do believe bam is a better player than Jaylen Brown It’s because what he brings on the defensive side of the basketball so it’s a tough blow for bam but this is a good question to ask and I need you to answer it for me down in the comment section will bam sign that extension this off seon he can wait another year which we’ll talk about here in just a second but will ban signed that threeyear $165 million extension this off season if you think he does type your s for sign if you think he waits type your P for pass I’m typing my P’s for pass and I would expect him to wait I would obviously think that Pat Riley and Miami would want to get this extension done this off season because you can get them at a pretty cheap deal if you’re asking me which I know you’re going to say cheap deal $515 million well for a player of Bam’s ber that is absolutely cheap nowadays because what he brings to the table is second to none he’s given you 19 and 10 a night while shooting 50% from the field and playing top three defense in the entire NBA I believe it’s top one in the NBA and then he’s obviously developing more of an offensive game by finally shooting some three balls at the second half of the year and he shot 35.7% bam is continuing to evolutionize his game and that is kind of why I think he would wait he’s going to bet on himself because if he waits another year and gets an all NBA nod or wins deoy or wins MVP which would be quite the shocker but be welcomed in Miami then he would become eligible for that 4year $245 million supermax extension once again so I think he’ll bet on himself and if I got to be honest if you look at those numbers those are all NBA caliber numbers when you take in the fact of his defense and that’s the big biggest factor for bam but here’s the kicker in my opinion if bam shoots 36% from three shot 35.2% last year if he gets that to 36% or higher and shoots three plus attempts a night so it’s not a low volume of like only one and a half a night but he doubles that and still shoots that efficient 36% I think he’d be on an all NBA team why because if he does shoot more threes and make them his point total per game is obviously going to go up he’ll probably average closer to 22 23 points he’ll also give you the rebounds he’ll give you the defense and these voters I don’t trust them I don’t think they know basketball I would actually say I know more basketball than half these voters especially when Stephen A Smith is out there getting votes either way though I think the voters take into consideration that he doesn’t shoot the three but if he’s shooting the three ball efficiently and playing the defense he does yeah you can lock him into an all-nba team next year I’d be willing to bet on that all right that’s going to do it for today’s video
