Lakers REUNION SIGNING with Former Laker During Free Agency! | (ft. KCP and Lonnie Walker!)

[Music] welcome back everyone as many of you know a term I have to referred to is team continuity aka the importance of keeping your team together to get better internally rather than externally which the Lakers have not been very good at doing during the LeBron Anthony Davis era though I do have to admit that it can be rather difficult when you’re over the salary cap pretty much every year and that has led to them not being able to retain a few of Their Own agents with one of the most noteworthy ones being Malik monk who unfortunately took more money to sign with Sacramento back in 2022 however even after a player leaves their team that does not always mean that they’re gone for good as they have had a couple of noteworthy reunions over the past few years now and apart from keeping your current team together that would have to be the next best thing in regard to team continuity guys that are familiar with the core of your team although already having played within your team system now that last part might be up for debate with them currently not having a head coach but I do think there are a few former Lakers that are worth taking a look at and that is what we are going to do during today’s video we’ll be taking a look at five of them and then decide if each of them would be a realistic Target or even worth going after to begin with but before we get too far into it if you have been enjoying the everyday content then I would really appreciate if you took a brief moment to drop a like subscribe to the channel if you have not already and hit that notification Bell so you never miss out when I upload a video but without further Ado let’s dive right into it and we’ll Begin by taking a look at former Laker Andre Drummond one of the best rebounders in the entire league and really one of the best of all time for being honest drum is somehow only 30 despite debuting way back in 2012 and while he might not be the athlete that he was back in his prime drum can still be regarded as an athletic big and I mean it doesn’t hurt that he weighs about 280 lb if not a little bit more really making him a problem around the rim with that mainly being true for his rebounding in only about 17 minutes per game the kai averaged about 9 rebounds per game or in other words nearly 19 of them per 36 minutes which would actually be a new career high for him showing that he definitely is not slowing down in that department anytime soon although I cannot say the same thing for him on defense while he never was a great defender he was a pretty good rim protector early on in his career but now he tends to be a bit below average I mean he can still block shots averaging about 1.3 of them per 36 minutes but you should not be expecting him to make good defensive rotations and if anything his most valuable attribute on defense to come from his surprising ability to jump passing lights believe it or not the guy grabbed about two steals per 36 minutes which was number one in the entire league among qualifying bigs that played over 50 games really making him a unique player in that regard and between that along with his rebounding ability that loan can make him valuable though we do need to factor in him not being a switchable Defender not a three-point shooter nor with him being a great lober at this point either and with that in mind I would only be interested in him for around a veteran min minimum level deal but now moving on to number two and here we have Malik Beasley after acquiring him at the 2023 trade deadline many are hopeful that he would become the Lakers long-term three-point shooting threat though that obviously did not end up happening now he did shoot above 35% from three of them but he was simply not able to make the impact that we were hoping for he was very streaky from the three-point line to put it lightly and then barely got any playing time during the postseason where he only shot 27% from three even when he did get to play and to absolutely no surprise at all here that led to them parting ways during free agency where he ended up taking a veteran minimum level deal to join Milwaukee which really caught me by surprise but then a whole lot less surpris thing happened to be when he went on to have a career Year from three shooting 41.3% from Beyond The Arc along with averaging over 11 points in under 30 minutes per game that’s Theo playing his minimum level contract and that right there is why pre should not give up on role players so quickly which a lot of the fan base tends to be guilty of I’d give it maybe five games before some people start to complain about a role player and especially if that role player is a three-point shooter but as we have now found out on many different occasions the only thing they sometimes need happens to be a bit more time and with Malik Beasley now being familiar what he’d be coming back to I would be open to bringing him back for the right price though I kind of doubt that he would want to come back given the way that he got treated but now moving on to number three and here we have Stanley Johnson a member of their underwhelming 2021-22 team he has has now found himself out of the league which to me is a bit of a mystery I mean I completely get it if he never showed any three-point shooting Improvement or he was above the age of 30 at this point but in reality neither of those two things happened to be true during his latest s with an NBA team back in San Antonio he shot a new career high 45% for three I’ll be with it only being on 40 total attempts but regardless that to me showed Improvement and not only that but he then continued to prove that down in the g- league earlier this season shooting over 40 s from three and this time 147 total attempts and even with it being down in the G League I think that proved that he can be at least average in the NBA and then with him only being 27 Al all being a really good and switchable Defender I don’t understand why he never got another shot let alone even on a 10day contract or something and I really feel for him at this point he’s still young has shown no isable improvement on the thing that teams have been holding against him and that is a proven defender in the NBA the only problem here is that he might not be a good fit for their team in particular don’t get me wrong I think he should be on an NBA roster both them already having Jared vanderbild and cam Rish one-way defensive players and then with ruy haimura that plays the power forward that would not leave them with much room for him again I really do like Stanley Johnson but I’m not sure he would make sense for their current team though I definitely will keep him in mind if R has shopped it out or if they would trade more vanderbild to haimura but now moving on to number four and here we have Lonnie Walker I talked about him during my Reclamation project cre agent video and I think he belongs in this one too not only that though but I think he might have interest in coming back to their team between him not having found a long-term fit with Brooklyn the team he ended up joining after leaving their team although them still being a client of Rich Pauls I would definitely not rule it out and especially with him only being 25 I mean I for think there is a lot to like you with Lonnie Walker he is a great spark plung Off the Bench a now Fairly reliable three-point shooter a great player in the open court and then a liability on defense even though he’s not a great defender and between all of that I was really shocked to see him have to take a veteran minimum level deal but now with him having done that along with not really having taken a step forward the lers might be able to get him for a bargain and if he’ll be willing to take a veteran minimum deal again then I would take him back in a heartbeat which might be more likely than you may think but now finishing up with our fifth and final former Laker and here we have cavius calwell Pope who I’ve noticed gaining some hype around the fan base lately but would he really be a realistic option in my opinion probably not though I would not completely rule it out I would not be shocked to see him leave Denver but that’s not the problem here the issue is with the amount of money that he’ll be looking for I mean he has a $15 million player option that he could take which would be three times more than what the Lakers could offer him and with that in mind the only way they could get him would be through a trade either through a sign and trade by giving him a new contract and therefore becoming hardcap or B trading for him if he opted into his contract neither of which are very likely for one I don’t see Denver wanting to help them out by trading him to their team and then I don’t see the Lakers wanting to become hard capped again either and while they might be willing to make an exception for a great 3 andd player like kcp I unfortunately don’t see it happening and barring him making it very known that he would like to come back to their team which I kind of doubt that he would do given that he got traded away from their team that would be the only way I could see it maybe happening and it pains me to say that with how much I like him but with all of that being said said what do you guys think of every former Laker that will be a free agent which of them would you like to see Lakers bring back to their current team comment your thoughts down below that will do it for this video though big thank you to those of you took the time to watch until the end of this video and until the end of all my videos in general I really hope you enjoyed it and if you did be sure to drop a like on the video subscribe to the channel if you have not already and hit that notification Bell to never miss out when I upload a video but as always thank you for watching and have a great day [Music]

  1. Stanley Johnson can actually play the SG position, so instead of going for KCP I rather sign stanimal because he’s younger and taller

  2. While I like KCP, and LW4, I would prefer the Lakers to look for bigger SF's, over more guards. As of now, we already have AR, and I believe that Max should see more prominence in the rotation. With the 2 spot covered, the Lakers should focus on shoring up the 1(depending on what happens to DLo) and 3 (depending on what happens to Reddish/Prince), in regards to the perimeter. And, of course, try to find a capable big to help in the frontcourt.

  3. Trade Rui, Gabe and picks for Mikal bridges. Retain Dlo and put AR off the bench with Max Christie.

Sign Drummond then you got your 3 bigs with AD and Wood

  4. Lakers need to resign and keep everyone from last year and hold them accountable Bron need to turn it up and lead those guy frfr

  5. All I care about for now is getting a solid back up center so Ad can go back to playing the 4 also while ad is on the bench we will have a guy that still be a great rim protector and can grab rebounds. I’d also love to see Lonnie come back he’s really great off the bench and isn’t a liability on defense. I also wouldn’t mind looking into trading for a guy like mikell bridges from the nets I don’t think we have to give up a lot for him either

  6. if we cant' get mitchell we should try to see if we can get Derozan caruso and Drumond in a package deal.

  7. JSM I appreciate you keeping the Stanley Johnson campaign alive. Dude is big, strong and a more consistent shooter than half the guys we put on the floor this year.

  8. I honestly feel like Stanley Johnson is better than Cam Reddish in every way. Why did Rob give Cam a player option again?

  9. The entitlement of our fanbase is almost disrespectful 😂. You really said Malik Beasley. Why would KCP come back? It’s been a mess since he left and the Nuggets clearly value him.

  10. 1. Resign Andre Drummond and Lonnie Walker IV, they both have former chemistry with the LAL, and were both pretty solid players in my opinion, despite Drummond only playing about 32 combined games with them. Walker was a very decent offensive player, and an "ok" defender when he actually committed to it, and a very great transition player and slasher, and had the ability to contribute to closing games when it counted most. Drummond was a pretty good secondary helper and PF/C backup for Anthony Davis, and a great rebounder to his credit. If he woulda played a full season, I definitely think they coulda went farther in the postseason.
    2. Trade D'Lo so that the $18.7 million can be brought back, as well as Dinwiddie, Jaxson Hayes, Mays and a couple other rookies to prepare a solid deal in order to potentially reacquire KCP back. All the money from those contracts can be used to not only resign KCP, but also a great diverse mix of 3&D players, and a couple vets. That's around $28-30 million in bread that they can use to dish out a few veteran minimum contracts, while also having the possibility of reacquiring KCP. Hypothetically speaking, lets say LBJ agrees to a 10-12% "pay cut" to help add money to the potential contract signings, which can be around $16-19 million+, at that point you'll have the $15 million for KCP, and can easily sign about 2, 3 maybe 4 other good players on either veteran minimums, OR even low paying multiyear deals.
    3. The Lakers really need to be pushing to resign Dwight Howard. he's still playing at fairly high level, despite his age, still capable of being a defensive menace even at 38 yrs old, and still possesses his athleticism and efficient scoring potential. He's also an almost certified lob threat, and can be a terror in the dunkers spot, and makes other dominant PF/Cs have to work for their shot much harder, which can result in a bunch of easy offensive plays. He was also one of the KEY FACTORS during the 2020 Championship run, and can add to the depth that they have at the PF/C positions, while playing off the bench.
    4. I believe Kelly Oubre Jr and Robert Covington would be a couple smart additions to sign for wing depth and floor spacing abilities, as well as perimeter defense. Covington averaged nearly 2.0SPG in about 30 games with the LAC, but missed most of the season via bone bruise. He's also defensive minded, can shoot corner 3s at a very efficient clip, almost 42%, from there, and around 36% from 3pt range overall the past 3 seasons, while also being a good cutter and passing lane pest. Oubre Jr on the other hand, is much younger, more athletic, has a good mix of speed, height, length and scoring ability that can help in closing out critical games on both ends of the floor, and can play off the bench like he did in Philly. Those are 2 easy quick veteran minimum contracts you can dish out right now, that I think are easy steals.
    5. the Lakers should also look into signing KJ Martin, he could potentially be a hidden piece. He can basically just camp in the dunkers spot whenever he can, due to a near 40 inch vertical at 6'6 215lbs. He can basically be what Aaron Gordon is to the Nuggets, for the Lakers, while having a veteran minimum as his projected salary. When he was traded to Philly from Houston, I feel like that really impacted his potential, especially since Philly gave his shitty minutes, and he only averaged 3PPG and 2RPG, which is stupendously horrific given the fact that Houston gave him around 22-25mpg, and he was averaging 10.2PPG/4.9RPG/1.3APG while shooting 34.5% from 3pt range, and 53.7% FG. He's also a solid defender, and has shown the ability to defend even the much taller PF/Cs, seeing that he's basically an undersized 4.
    6. Give Max Christie a more assertive role, potentially with the second unit, and give him 20+mpg.

  11. Bring back kco and dlo hayes camm reddish and lonie walker either i would give change another change give dlo another year and
    Start
    Lebron pg
    Dlo sg
    Hayes c
    Ad pf
    Vanderbilt sf
    Bench
    Reaves pg
    Wood c
    Rui pf
    Kcp sf
    Monk sf

  12. Kcp chokes in playoffs. He has that track record. It get worseeven on close out games. So no tnx. Forget Malik, Sac ain't giving him away

  13. NBA is a guards game ! In Ja, Jamal, Tyrese Max,Tysere H,SGH,Booker,Trae,Steph,Dame,Ant if you dont got a big, strong ,lengthy guards defender that can shoot 3's at least againts these folks. You got no chance

  14. get stanley back on the team asap…i have been saying this ever since…. even lebron gave him massive flowers on his podcast the other day.

  15. Drum has no hands, I just remember dude never catching the lobs Bron would throw him. McGee and Dwight never missed those lobs.

  16. Pelinka screwed up during the trade deadline, he needs to make up for it during the offseason, starting with hiring the right long term coach.

  17. Listen Trade reeves Gabe and rui😔 go get derozen, heild or Klay, Mitchell, and Allen or another center! Lakers need too put AD and LeBron in their natural spots that’s the key too them winning!! All that LeBron old ishh don’t matter this too can win they need too be managed better!! Soo to be honest everyone on the table sep for vando, LeBron, and AD!!!

  18. I rather bring back Dennis Schroeder,KCP & Malik Beasley & Andre Drummond & find a way to trade Rui Hachimura, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, Christian Wood, Harry Giles Jr, to the Nets for Cam Thomas, Dorian Finney-Smith, Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Keita Bates-Diop……. Trade D'Angelo Russell to the Pelicans for C.J McCollum keep Gabe Vincent & Spencer Dinwiddie run the team back just add some pieces to compete go Laker Nation let's get it together……..

  19. Don’t want none of them back ngl. They’re gonna put that lakers jersey on and forget how to play basketball

  20. Remember guys. We dont have ANY MONEY!!! with the exception of maybe a mid level contract & some vet minimums so just keep that in mind. Rob squandered most of our tradable assets. Drummond, Stanley Johnson & Lonnie are definately realistic guys we could land given our limited cap space. But we need to see how the rest of the roster shakes out after this draft
