Could Joe Tsai be open to a rebuild? “If you just want to be win now you could ruin your future by trading away all of your assets but I think what I want to do with the Brooklyn Nets is take a longer term approach.”

This pretty much matches what marks said at the season ticket holder event a couple months ago. They want to try and build from the ground up an actual winning culture and keep the picks the have while also keeping an eye on the star market. I.E the plan is to try and pseudo re-build (being that we don’t have are own picks) unless a disgruntled superstar wants out and lists us as a preferred destination.

  2. at least we finally heard from Joe Tsai on what he thinks about the team. Now it’s time over these next months to see some action behind these words.

Wow. This is a very level-headed but honest answer. Especially from an owner. Boys, Cam Thomas is here to stay

I’m going to use the Timberwolves as an example. They rebuilt for 100 years and just now found success. I think the key is building around talented players that you draft. For the Nets that could be Cam Thomas. I’d say see what Cam does this year and decide if we build around him or not, similar to Ant Edwards. If he doesn’t improve a ton this season then I say go into full rebuild. If he does improve, I say go all in and get another KAT caliber star on the team with a bunch of gritty role players. It worked for Timberwolves and it can work for the Nets.

I mean we are currently in ou rebuild, but most of the current roster will probably be here for a while, but we aren’t rebuilding like by tanking

We literally gain nothing by bottoming out. We have solid young pieces, keep them and try to sign middle of the road players.

Nice level headed response we tried to win now and again it blew up in our face. My fear of tanking is that we’re gonna have to be absolutely terrible to out tank the pistons, spurs, blazers and wizards and that’s gonna be really hard to do. I think next summer is where the franchise picks a lane if we can’t attract a star or look like we can be competitive then we trade the Twins and everyone else that can get us a decent return.

Feel like the between the lines message here is more about staying under the cap this year and making a few minor moves. They’ve basically telegraphed this for a year, I can’t imagine it’s changed
