Miami Heat Rumors On A Dejounte Murray Trade + Haywood Highsmith WANTS To Return In NBA Free Agency

[Music] what’s up Pete fans happy Friday Today’s show two topics and they’re good ones trade for dejon Murray The Talented Guard from the Atlanta Hawks that Miami had some rumored interest in before the NBA trade deadline last February and then Heywood heith is he returning to Miami in NBA free agency before we get into those two topics though we are in a like battle Celtics today challenged us to a oneon-one battle if you will they got 2114 likes on their last video we just have to top that that should not be that hard for the real ones here at the heat report so hit that thumbs up icon let’s get at least 220 and put the Boston Celtics in the dirt all right let’s get into Deonte Murray now because Bleacher Report put out an interesting article that had one dream trade Target for the Miami Heat but also one realistic trade Target for the Heat this upcoming summer the dream Target no doubt it was Donovan Mitchell that is the dream it will always be the dream but Deon Mary’s a realistic trade option does intrigue me because it is very possible that he gets dealt this off season the Hawks are at a Crossroads they got lucky with the lottery and they hold the first overall pick in this draft they’re likely going to take alexard move on from Clint capella they have a couple young wings and Jaylen Johnson and DeAndre hunter that are interested in to build around but the back court of Deon Murr excuse me and Trey young they will not work together that is not a conducive pairing to winning so I think it’s likely they trade one of them and if they elect to keep Trey young maybe Deon T Murray is on the trade market here’s what Bleacher Report had to say on the matter that young seems likely to fetch the bigger Hall which I actually don’t even know if that’s true by the way I think Trey Young’s trade value is in the gutter right now but that is a different point for a different day but it also seems reasonable to want to continue to build around him long term and if dejonte Murray is made available he might make more sense for Miami Heat culture than young and if you just scroll back on the channel you know we make a lot of content here at the heat report it might take a little bit of scrolling but if you go back to before the February 2023 trade deadline you would have seen how many times we talked about dejonte Murray because he is a perfect fit for Miami and I love his play style his mentality and the way he plays on the court and thought he would be the perfect Trio member with bam and Jimmy I mean this is someone who has improved every year of his career and he can affect winning in a multiple amount of ways right like his early career with the San Antonio Spurs he was a Lockdown Defender I’m talking all NBA defense caliber of player while also damn near averaging a triple double in 212 2 with nine assists and eight rebounds he was never a shooter he was more of a scorer working about 15t in in from the basket but he was a great facilitator and playmaker for the Spurs then he gets dealt over to Atlanta and he has to play a little bit of a different role right because now he’s a shooting guard more than a point guard playing alongside Trey young and he was able to improve his shooting shooting 34% from three and then 36% from three still not that efficient but as you see it has improved every year over the last four so he can affect winning in multiple different ways he can be the primary scorer as an off ball Creator or he can be a guy in initiating the offense ball in his hands making plays for others and even though his defense has declined in Atlanta that might just be because their style and their culture over there because when he was playing with a defensive minded head coach and Greg papovich over in San Antonio he was one of the best guard Defenders if not a top three top four guy in the NBA he still has averaged over 1.6 steals per game over the last four seasons including leading the league with two steals per game just three seasons ago this this guy is a dog right now and if he’s available via trade that he have to at least do their due diligence on a potential dejon Murray deal more on Murray and his fit with Miami and what it might cost coming up in just a second but today’s pinned comment is this should the heat trade for de DTE Murray if you think they should trade for the Hawks point guard type t for trade if you think they should go other ways and keep their assets type P for pass YouTube ad break might come and hit you so if it does let it play and answer today’s pinned comment uh let’s take a look at dejonte Murray’s Outlook now because he is currently 27 years old but he’s turning 28 in September so he’ll be 28 by the time the season rolls around his height comes in at 6’5 which is pretty solid right like even if it’s a two guard or just a point guard the height is there but the most impressive thing about deante Murray is his wingspan it is one of the most Plus wingspans in the entire NBA it is very rare that you find a guard have a wingspan 5 in longer than their height and what have we talked about on the channel in the past I am a wingspan if you have a top tier wingspan to height ratio I want you on my team because it allows you to finish at The Rim easier it allows you to be more disruptive on defense in the passing Lanes blocking shots and if you’re able to still put up a smooth jumper because you could get the release Point higher potentially oh yeah you can be an absolute Menace on both ends of the floor and that is why to me dejonte Murray has been one of the biggest dogs in the NBA over the past three or four seasons and he is under contract through 2627 and his contract right now is not bad at all I mean it’s pretty fair for what what kind of caliber player he is getting paid 25 million this year 27 half the next year up another 2 million in 2627 for $29.5 million and then he does have a player option in 2027 2028 that is a player option so he could opt out or he could opt in I guess it depends on how he plays over the next three seasons for whatever team he’s on at 31 and a half M and then would become an unrestricted free agent in 2829 I will say this though I would expect him to opt out of that 2728 year for 31 A2 because assuming he continues to go on this trajectory that his career is on right now he’s likely going to fetch a much bigger payday than $31.5 million a season especially with the cap only going up in the NBA and players continuing to get pay raises yeah I would expect him to opt out of that but you have him at least on your team guaranteed for the next three seasons all right we’re going to talk about a trade package for Deonte Murray but make sure you are subscri be to the channel because we are going to cover everything around the Miami Heat this offseason leading up to watch party season part two in the fall so make sure you hit that sub button whether it be frency rumors like we’re going to do with Haywood heith later on the show or trade rumors with dejonte Murray we have it all all right this is what the trade I think in my opinion would look like I’m not sure the Hawks would be willing to do this but from the Heat’s perspective this is probably all they’re offering after seeing what high mayhawk Jr Nia yic did this year as much as I like de Jon Murray I don’t know if I’m be willing to offer the two young guys for dejonte Murray Murray’s really good but I don’t think he’s in that class of getting a hakz or yovic Pride away from the heat so to me it would be a Tyler hero and one first round pick I don’t care if it’s in 2030 or if it’s the 15th overall pick in this NBA draft maybe the Hawks would value 2030 more because they could see well maybe the heat will stink back then when Jimmy Butler’s no longer on the team hero is values one first round pick obviously they’re getting another first with the 15th pick that’s two first round picks in value for the Hawks and that would allow a lot of things for Miami I think Murray and hero could work but I also don’t think the Hawks would want Terry Rosier to be that matching salary guard that is worth a first round pick and you might ask yourself if you see this trade well if we’re getting rid of hero which a Murray hero back court probably would work well would a Rosier de jante Murray back court work I don’t know if it would as a starting pairing and that is why Rosier would probably have to change his role or not be on the team in general I think Terry in this situation would be relegated to sixth man which the heat do need a 18 point per game scorer Off the Bench for Miami would be uh yeah very helpful for this team you have dejonte Murray Duncan Robinson Jimmy yovic and Bam as your starting five potentially if you do that deal with Rosier y or and hakz being your sixth and seventh man yeah that will do some nice things for you you could also trade Terry Rosier in a separate deal if you wanted to to acquire more role players if you will because you’re likely going to you lose Caleb Martin in free agency so if you want to replace him with another athletic Wing maybe you trade Terry Rosier in a different deal but either way I think Rosier would have to be either on the bench or Delta away if you acquired deante Murray all right that’s it for deante Murray we’re going to get to Haywood here in just a second but we are sponsored by prize pick the best daily fantasy sports app in North America why is it the best well it’s easy and fun all you do is pick two or more player stat projections pick more or pick less yeah it’s that easy and you could win up to 100 times your money right now with as little as four correct entries NBA playoffs still resuming in the conference final same thing with the NHL but there’s also golf MMA boxing MLB to choose from which is why they’re the best you can choose from anything WNBA included as well and I’ve got an entry for tonight and that is the Timberwolves Mavericks game two more than 39 a half points rebounds assist for Anthony Edwards I expect him to make an improvement after a rough game one if you will and then more than that Mike connley and Kyrie Irving combined 10 and a half assists that’s why I love prize picks they allow so many different things it’s Friday by the way so you could do a flex play and have it protected under 20 bucks for flex play Friday there’s demons there’s goblins there’s combinations there’s taco Tuesdays there’s daily specials there is nothing that they don’t have which makes playing daily fantasy sports so much fun so get started today and get a first deposit match up to $100 when you go to prize.com clns or you could just download the app and use code clns to get that first deposit match up to $100 prize picks pick more pick less that easy uh shift gears to NBA free agency which we haven’t really talked about a lot of free agents on the channel because well the heat really can’t spend on too many free agents so it’s more of the trade route for the heat but could Haywood heith make a return to the Miami Heats roster this upcoming summer CU he is a restricted free agent heith actually hopped on a podcast with Hoops hype and said this I’d love to stay in Miami for sure I feel like I’ve built a great life out here my daughter lives out here as well if all things are close I definitely would love to stay in Miami but we’ll see when that time comes and I think it’s important to look at what Haywood heith could fetch in NBA free agency because he’s been a very cheap player for Miami over the past couple Seasons well ESPN’s Bobby Marx was actually asked by the Miami heral on what he thinks Haywood heith could fetch this upcoming summer and Bobby Mark’s proje heith in the $8 to10 million range on an annual average salary that is a little step up from what heith was getting paid right now now I will say this if he gets that contract of like let’s say 3 for 30 and you go on the high side from a different team the Heat technically can match that because he is a restricted free agent but Miami offering that that would be an intriguing decision that they have to take into Factor other factors with the second apron of the tax that is what we’re going to get to in just a second but just in a vacuum right now would you give Haywood heith 8 to1 million per year probably be a three-year deal cuz I doubt it’d be a two so let’s say three let’s split the difference on 8 to 10 three for 27 would you do it type y for yes or type n for no I mentioned the word vacuum just a second ago because that’s the way I have to look at this if High Smith doesn’t affect the Miami Heat luxury situation and how far they go over the tax in the other second apron yes I would give heith $9 million per season over 3 years because he is a terrific Defender and a great connecting piece in the front Court the offense is always going to be a struggle right he hasn’t been the most offensively inclined player in his career it’s something that he’s been working on only giving you six points a game and not really doing anything with the ball in his hands and that’s one of the most frustrating things to me when I watch Haywood heith to by the way he just sits in the court corner almost on that PJ Tucker roll and anytime he gets the ball on offense and is made to make a decision or dribble it just feels ugly he’s always looking to give it away it’s never I’m going to go drive and score now I will say he did a much better job of that at the end of the season when he needed to with a couple key players out getting to the rim and he worked on that little 8ot float shot with one hand but the overall offense just isn’t there but shooting 39. half% from three yeah that will play especially with how good he is on Def defense always taking the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s best guard SL wi player when he comes off the bench now I want to go back to that contract and you mentioned $8 to10 million per year well as things currently stand the heat simply can’t afford that and I know you’re thinking they can afford an $8 million contract what can they afford well the answer is because of the situation right now they could really only afford vet Min deals or something like at three or4 million because here’s why they are only $5.2 million below the second apron of the luxury tax in the NBA if they go above that second apron they will get Mickey Aris and the owner will get taxed heavily and more money will come out of his pocket just in general but the heat will also not be able to trade their 2032 first round pick during the season which teams will be eligible to do that like at the trade deadline heat wouldn’t if they’re in the second apron so it limits your ability to trade picks it limits your ability to take money back can trade and you can’t aggregate contracts to sum up a trade so for example if the heat wanted to trade for someone who has $30 million on their deal they couldn’t send three $10 million deals that’s another limitation of being in the second apron so it’s very advantageous for Miami to stay under the second apron so if you do an $8 million contract that puts you over now I will say this if they lose Caleb Martin because this includes Caleb right now he is currently under contract for 7.2 million that might free up enough space where they could give Haywood heith an $8 million deal but that would basically be the only move they make this off season is resigning Haywood heith and maybe signing some guys on the vet men that’s why we talk so much about trades because if the heat want to make some changes to his roster they can’t do it in freeny it has to be via the trade route which is why we always are talking about trades and not free agency all right that is going to do it for today’s video if you want to continue the conversation on Miami whether it be the trade market free agent targets what Caleb Martin Haywood High Smith are going to get we can do that over on my Twitter at Nick rolloff so go give me a follow and I’ll see you in the next video go he [Music]

  1. That's my trade target. Trade Herro to a team who appreciates him so we can get something in return and cap space to add Dejounte Murray. 2 first round pics should get it done. Rozier, Murray, Butler, Jovic and Bam is a formidable starting 5

  2. Martin doesn't deserve the money, even after last season, this season he didn't show much, and should stay with Maimi. But Highsmith should stay, and learn more. I am sure HIGHSMITH will get more playing time next season. Don't be Stupid Highsmith,STAY.

  3. @heatreport why do you think that a Rozier/Murray back court wouldn't work? Both have great wimg span, Rozier and Murray would make a great pairing defensively and offensively. They both have played as point guards and Shooting guard.

  4. Herro is a Negative asset. You are not going to benefit from Herro's 30mil a year contract. This is why you missed out on Dame. Herro Sucks… His Contract Sucks. Don't over value your crap players. Go Heat Culture

  5. Murray literally puts up the same numbers as Herro not a game changer we need a 25 ppg scorer which is why we need Donovan Mitchell

  6. Herro for Murray!!! Rozier and Murray both can score & defend & ain't scared of the moment…Herro can't guard a building!

  7. I would trade for Murray but I'm moving rozier to the 6th man role so he can cook the 2nd unit… Murray is not a SG which is why the young and Murray duo hasn't work

  8. Heat should try to get Donovan but not trade Niko and Jaime only one and if he wants to stay we move on. Then we go get Dejounte Murray or Malik Monk sign and trade for Herro, Caleb, Highsmith, and/or future 1st picks. Draft a big like Zach Edey and Alex Karaban in the 2nd round. Sign Jonas in free agency. I love this teams chance with the new roster after this move.

    Dejounte Terry

    Duncan Jaime

    Jimmy Niko

    Bam Kevin Love Alex Karaban

    Jonas Zach Edey

  9. Get Dejounte Murray if the heat dont get Donavan Mitchelle and sign OBBI TOPPIN or FRANZ WAGNER in free agency! 🔥
