Lakers Trading for Zach Lavine AND Signing Chris Paul? | Lakers Offseason Plan News/Rumors

[Music] welcome back everyone we are well over a month away from free agency though that does not mean we won’t be getting rumors all the way up to it and well that is what we got again today and to absolutely no surprise at all here both of them are guys that we have heard about before I often bring up the fact that once the player gets link to the Lakers it never really goes away or unless that player retires or even after that point in the of Darren cison and don’t even get me started on that one but again the endless Laker link has come up once again and this time with nearly Laker trade Edition Chris Paul along with current Chicago Bull Zack LaVine both of which could be on the move this summer definitely not shocked to hear about that but I would be a bit surprised to see both of them end up in the purple and gold let alone even one of them with that being said though you can never completely rule it out and especially with both of them having close ties to LeBron James without being particularly two for cb3 and with that in mind here we are going to talk about the likelihood of the Lakers actually picking them up which would be two completely different scenarios but we’ll break it all down before we get too far into it though if you’re looking for a place to talk about the NBA Playoffs or even bent about the Lakers then don’t forget to check out our NBA Discord we got a live game chat a daily discussion board for all things NBA and much much more to talk about everything Lakers and NBA related or if you don’t have Discord then feel free to follow me on Twitter to hear my thoughts on what what’s going on around the league there will be a link for both of them in the video description down below but without further Ado let’s dive right into it and we’ll Begin by talking about the possibility of them picking up CP3 in now 19-year NBA vet CP3 remains one of the best Playmakers in the entire league having an absolute ridiculous 5.2 assist to turnover ratio and not to mention that coming this 18th year truly the point God on the other hand though he is definitely not the player that he was back in his prime he is no longer than nine time all defense player that he once was although having a steep decline athletically now making him closer to a defensive liability compared to being an all NBA Defender but don’t get me wrong there definitely is value here still the playmaking ability is obvious but then you also get a reliable three-point shooter one of the best mid-range Shooters in the entire league and then not to mention one of the brightest Minds probably only being second to LeBron himself and you could even argue that though the problem here before anything is that he is currently under contract and a $30 million contract if you can believe it with all 30 of bit coming next season in reality though not a single dollar bit is guaranteed the Golden State Warriors have the option of either fully guaranteeing it or declining it letting him walk for nothing which will be a tough conversation for them to have I mean I don’t think anyone believes that he is worth that amount at this point but it could be a valuable trade piece for them much like I’ve been talking about D’Angelo Russell lately Golden State my want him back to Simply Be able to trade him and if they attach a draft pick or two with him then they can get a quality role player in return for him and more likely than not that would lead to CP3 getting bought out by whatever team that trades for him likely being a rebuilding team that would take on that contract and well that’ll be another opportunity for him to become a free agent and no matter what Ro Golden State would take here it’s fairly likely that CP3 will become a free agent and if that does in fact end up happening then you already know the Lakers will have interest which already appears to be the case according to Mark Stein though it will depend on what they do with D’Angelo Russell gab Vincent and then if they trade for a point guard or not which is definitely a possibility with them having been linked to multiple of them including Trey young and Darius Garland but quickly going through all of it I think they would definitely have interest of dook for nothing that would obviously open up a point guard spot and one that CP3 could help them fill now I don’t think they would or could rign him to be their starting point guard but he definitely could be their primary backup he played over 25 minutes per game last season though he did miss some time with an injury only playing in 58 total games but then if Angelo Russell would come back to their team I only think there would be room for CP3 if they made a trade either involving d himself or instead by trading gab Vincent that would be another pathway for them to sign him and believe it or not I think there are actually more Pathways for CP3 to join their team than for him to not not sure how I feel about that but I wouldn’t mind it if he would sign for a veteran minimum at that point I think he would be a pretty good addition but for anything more than that I think he would be a bit of a reach again he’s still a quality role player but you simply never know if he will be help healthy and especially come playoff time he may consistently play over 55 games during the regular season but then again he’s regularly hurt during the playoffs which are obviously more important and with that in mind I would be open to signing Chris Paul but not entirely enthusiastic about it I would love for Anthony Davis in that pick and roll combo to happen but I would definitely be a bit nervous for CP3 staying healthy but now moving on to Zack line and while there might not be a report linking him to them but there does happen to be a video of him with both LeBron and Davis with all three of them pulling up to watch Brony James at his pro day and while that might mean nothing it certainly could mean something after all he does remain a clutch client with Rich Paul and then not to mention that his current team is looking to trade him with the Lakers having been linked to him in the past now they’re not willing to make a trade for him at the trade deadline and rly so with him getting hurt soon thereafter but who knows maybe that might be different this time around I from would not be interested but you never know them trying to go Star hunting again I mean it’s tough for debate if leine would even qualify for being a star player at this point but he does in fact have an All-Star background and then not to mention him being paid like a star player too with that of course being a maximum level contract and I don’t know about you guys but that’s enough for me to look the other way Ione want nothing to do with paying cycl over 43 million next season let alone paying him over 48 in the year 2027 and I think the only argument against that would be with the salary cap going up with the NBA having renegotiated their TB deals the salary cap will be going up for the reable future and likely at around 10 million per year which would effectively make the current maximum level contracts a bit more Team friendly now I still don’t think that LaVine will ever be worth that amount and primarily due to him being an injury risk but I guess you could make that argument I mean if Luca tonic could be making around 80 million per year then I guess Le making around 45 million per year is not that bad again not something that I would want to do but it would make that contract better than it is right now and let’s say they would do it what would be the future implications here well we already talked about the contract which would obviously be a con to doing it but I will say they lines up fairly well with the timeline of Anthony Davis with LaVine having only recently turned 29 and if he could get back to being a 25 Point per game on 40% shooting kind of player then at that point I think he could be worth it and while they not be expecting him to put up more than 20 points per game as a third option I think he could fill that role he is a great three-point shooter a good off the ball player in general and then can be a secondary playmaker as well though we do have to factor in him being a below average Defender although being an injury risk too after having played in a career high 77 games the year before he only managed to appear in 25 of them this season yikes and with him having out lower body injuries throughout his entire career that is something that might come back to haunt him potentially shortening his Prime and overall I simply don’t think it would be worth the risk he is a great offensive Talent along with being fairly young yet but it’s simply not worth that contract even with the salary cap going up and then you never know about his long-term Health but with all of that being said what do you guys think how do you feel about the Lakers potentially going after Chris Paul or maybe even Zack leine let me know your thoughts in the comments down below that will do it for this video though big thank you to those of you 1. HELL 2 THE NALLBOTH DAMN INJURY PRONE AND SLOW! WAKE THE HELL UP! THIS IS NO BRAINER ! HELL NALL!

  2. Anyone who says no to Chris Paul on a vet minimum coming off the bench doesn’t know basketball. Lakers needed a true point guard coming off the bench this year that is why the bench was looking unorganized and couldn’t score because they didn’t have a true point guard coming off the bench

  3. The fact that people are acting like CP3 on a waived vet minimum off the bench is somehow worse than what we have is beyond me.. His statistics show he’s still worth point guard minutes off the bench. And he’s a very smart winner..

  4. You know the szn over before it even starts if you talkin bout Chris Paul in free agency dawg foh 😒

  5. 1. Zach Lavine would be a fairly risky but good fit at the PG/SG position, but he's wayyyyyy out of our price range lol
    2. CP3, I still like him, I think he can still get buckets and hit very tough clutch shots, AND he's somewhat affordable, and still one of the league's most elite playmakers to this day. Him and LBJ's playmaking skills can probably do wonders for the team, however I don't really think that I can see him in a Lakers jersey.
    3. Nothing wrong with getting veterans, but make sure you obtain some younger, more energized players as well
4.Just get Kelly Oubre Jr, Robert Covington, Andre Drummond, Dwight Howard, KJ Martin and Lonnie Walker IV(a bunch of FAs that are well within their price range, and all of their projective salaries are within the veteran minimum) AND ALL ARE AFFORDABLE!!!!and add much needed depth at all positions.
    5. Trade D'Lo, Hayes, Dinwiddie, Lewis and a couple other rookies for those players
    6. A few of the players I mentioned have prior experience and familiarity with the LAL…so resigning a few of them wouldn't be a bad idea.

  6. Keep Zach LaVine and CP3 far away from the team. CP3 is past it, and Zach Lavine contributes nothing to winning. Lonzo Ball effected the Bulls success more than LaVine did. He's another Bradley Beal. Don't fall for it.

  7. 🚨 Think about this. We have only a Midlevel. We have the problem of D'Angelo. We need use him in a trade. Kevin Porter Jr. end the season in POAK for only $10,000 😮. This guy is young, explosive, ofensive, defender and can make one and one game. Please make the assigment brother. Look wath he make in 11 games. Make a video of him. He can make a better work than D'Angelo. Let's look for the missing pieces. A center and a young point guard to do the job Kevin Porter Jr. 🔥. #ElNico

  8. JJ Redick/Sam Cassell are your coaches, they are more knowledgeable of the game than any of the current candidates that have been considered. They are your coach that will take the team far into the future as well as a minimal contract initially. They will manage the locker room along with input from veterans LeBron and AD; they are players coachs and understands the needs of there coaching staff. We need two real bigs, Valanciunas/Drumond/Dwight ( ie 2020 chip) along side AD, we need a six man, Dramond/Bobby Portes etc. We need a two way guard to manage Jamall Murry and Anthony Edwards…. Demar/Donavan/Caruso/Keli Ubrea/Marcus Smart/JaMonte Murray/Brogden/Gary Trent. We have the assets, the picks and the money to make this happen. Doc Rivers, Ty Lou, , Chauncey Billups had no direct coaching experience other than one of many assistants.

  9. Lakers only seemingly thriving off only relevancy and enough gossip for sales and no winning.
Not really going after dog winning type players..
Only signing marginal barely mediocre players and gonna always come up short because of it by default.

  10. Ridiculous.
Another old star that has a history of injuries.
Lavene isn't much better with a Hugh contract with injuries.

  11. Teams are opening there wallet and spending more even if they're profit margin is less to achieve conference finals and finals levels, all the while the Lakers – Jeanie buss-pelinka and staff sit around on there hands looking for cheaper signings..that tie between Boston and Lakers in championships is gonna be broken by Boston easily and might I add Boston is gonna run away with more wins than Lakers by far, especially with Jeanie buss still playing it safe with her cheaper signings

  12. CP3 stays injured if it was 2008 CP3 then yes KD should've never got CP3 traded from the Suns so if he can't accept coming off the bench again as a backup pg then retire but teams like the Nuggets, Heat, Timberwolves, Sixers, Pelicans, Bucks, Mavs, Rockets, Spurs should trade for CP3 Lakers do not trade for CP3

  13. If the Lakers trade for Zach LaVine might as add DeMar DeRozan, Torrey Craig, Nikola Vucevic, & Andre Drummond give up Austin Reaves, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Max Christie, Maxwell Lewis, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, Christian Wood……..

  14. AD footwork horrible also Lebron weakness Rui Reaves Vandy Shavino for float like a butterfly Grant sting like a bee Thybulle get 2 rings
