What Should the Knicks Do With Julius Randle?

What Should the Knicks Do With Julius Randle?

discuss how we got here shall we if it was a Knicks it would have been the best fin if they weren’t all in the hospital but yeah here we go Pacers Knicks uh it was game seven and he wins it um 13109 that that was not fun to watch at all they had a playoff record percentage shooting from the field of a just over 67% Tyrese Alberton finished with 26 points Jaylen Brunson I mean why of course he did the the cherry on top left in the second hand with a broken left hand Dante dienzo threw in his 39 but afterwards Jaylen Brunson was asked if the season was a success and he quite simply said no he’s right right L yeah I would have to agree with him you know on the outside looking in we don’t know what goals they set internally as an organization we don’t know how far they thought they could go um in a lot of circles this is an upset right this is an upset for the Indiana Pacers a lot of people had the Knicks winning this series so if you go into it with that mentality and you lose in seven games to a team that you feel like you should have beat in the second round and you had aspirations to get to the Conference Finals absolutely this is this is not a successful season to the New York Knicks I think they got a lot to work on a lot lot to build on as well you know they they put a lot of good work in um got the New York fan base back excited about New York Knicks basketball but all in all if you’re not a young upand cominging team and you losing a second round a lot of teams would have this sentiment so I I agree with him I like it I think it’s the right answer but I think he’s wrong I think I think it’s I think it’s such a successful season I think as banged up as they are the adversity they’ve had to go through sorry about that good God Almighty uh I think it’s a hell of a season not many teams can overcome all the injuries losing their arguably their best player that obviously did Randle Jaylen Brunson became that but losing him losing their starting center losing their best center OG he tried last last night you can just tell he wasn’t he wasn’t right um so I think he’ll look back on this and look at you know maybe a week or two and realize that they have a lot to be proud of they got the Garden jumping again the Knicks are a thing the NBA is cooler the NBA is better when the Knicks are a thing and that has a lot to do with this season and Jaylen Brunson what he’s brought to this entire city so I think it was a huge success I think they have a lot to look forward to and I think if they were healthy I think they win the series I would agree with you if they lose to a team that we would we felt that has been Superior to them throughout the course of the season I don’t think they felt like that about the Indiana that’s why I feel like he’s it’s a frustrating loss but again how they literally didn’t have Jaylen leun in the second half they didn’t have OG so it’s like they’re literally rolling out there with with role players in reality and like that that’s hard to overcome and especially when their entire offense has been going through J jayen Brunson he’s been their guy he’s been their everything so again I think it’s frustrating I think it’s the right answer because there are expectations they do want to win a championship but with with the hand they’re dealt with all these injuries they were plagued they were doomed they turned they made the Knicks cool again and I think that alone is a success and basketball is a game of inches right if the New York Nicks win last night I think this conversation is completely different I think we we’re talking about the game that Dante D chenzo had yeah of course you know 9 for 15 from the three-point line Lord almost had a 40 ball giving them an opportunity to win a basketball game and they fall short that’s why we love these games that’s why we love these scenarios because one little instant one one little thing can change the entire the entire trajectory of everything that you want to talk about so if the Knicks won this game is it a successful series CU we don’t think they’re going to beat the Celtics anyway so they if they were healthy but no no as they are right now if they just won this series went to the Conference Finals and they got swept by Boston is that a successful season I think so it’s an asterisk season is it not because you’re going to always be like yeah they had great potential and they did amazing things and then literally no one was available and you had the opportunity to get swept like that’s there’s the difference they’re on vacation today her successful season no matter what no matter what for sure successful season no matter what in season tournament listen we hadn’t talked about the Indiana PACE of since the inseason tournament and they went through a lot of they went through a lot of turbulence a lot of ups and downs in that season so to fast forward and for them to be in this position now you got to give them a lot of credit and on the flip side of that coin got to agree with Jaylen Bronson we shouldn’t be the ones on vacation right now based on how our separate and if you’re the Knick’s coaching staff Organization for office fans you love this answer you know as cool as they are as popping as he made this team again as big of a season he’s had he wants more he expects to win he doesn’t think it’s a good a successful season just to get this second round losing a game seven and it’s frustrating at home at home in the garden to lose a game seven the Pacers played great but yeah I think there’s just there’s frustration there and the injuries obviously everything on on top of that but you got to be proud if you’re the Knicks of how they played this year look how professional I am L feel like you’re not giving me any working on it youever um your face says something different there’s a lot going on here the uh of course the tibs slander uh it began a while ago let’s be honest but Brunson did take a minute to defend tib said he should not take uh the bulk of any of the blame for losing this where are we on that well here’s the thing the injury thing I can agree with that the the minutes the that’s too much but fracturing a hand that that’s not that’s not that’s bad abdominal strain yeah like that’s unfortunate if it’s a hamstring we’re talking that things like that but a fractured hand has nothing to do with the minutes he’s playing that’s just an unfortunate break but again I think there’s got to be a balance you see how much production you see how much can production they got from ale you see like so when you look at that and you see how he could have been doing shout out to you you were early on saying that he was going to give them they could I think Shake Milton still could have got more opportunity I think he’s a solid player so I think there is different ways he can balance out the minutes to avoid things like this but a lot of these stuff is uncontrollable there’s no way Jaylen Brunson playing this many minutes is going to cause him to break his hand it’s also fair for tibs to get some criticism though for sure yeah a little bit for Jaylen um for Josh Hart the first time he goes to the bench in game three is just that’s crazy it’s Insanity man it’s Insanity like you have to find ways to buy minutes for these guys maybe in game three games one two that works but this this thing went seven games right this is went to the end of the end of the road and so that stuff starts to matter when you get down to game six game seven it it might be funny and a joke in games two and three but at seven you can’t tell me that he needs more rest so tibs being criticized is a fair criticism to some extent when it comes to these injuries well it’s going to be uh there’s going to be a lot of that I am sure um the offseason though is officially here now for the Knicks so what do we expect to happen they’re going to continue to be aggressive they’ve got eight first round draft picks they can trade obviously they have seconds they have swaps so they’re looking for that next player if he is available whenever that’s going to be uh there are a few issues though right you have the OG anobi free agency that potentially looms they got him in that big trade they gave up a lot of assets for him em manual quickly draft picks uh Etc uh will be able to keep him I think that’s going to be their priority but then two other players Jaylen brutz and he’s extension El well we’ll see if it makes sense for him to extend now or wait till 2025 but Julius Randle he’s got a player option in 2025 he’s eligible for a 4year $188 million contract extension this summer or I should say fouryear 81.5 million contract extension either way uh significant money teams are monitoring the situation for sure because how they handle that extension situation if that is aers ation what transpires I think that’ll be interesting because you think about movable assets salaries obviously Julius randle’s got the number if you are to make a big big trade okay here we go don’t do it they can’t do that you can’t trade Julius Randall no they can’t pay him that M and you’re saying you can’t trade him correct interesting I just think I think they I think Julius Randle is great I love Julius Rand I love his game I just think he I think the the potential and everything that happened once he went out Jaylen brunsman became a start they had more success with him out do I think he helps their team I think he’s actually a good fit yes but I think I think they need another score I think they need another Wing score I’d rather see them try and bring in a Donovan Mitchell Bring Booker I know but Mitchell what I mean Don not Don dein Booker oh I think they need someone like that if they it’s by the way and it’s the trading book I got got I say I think I think fure when I watch the Knicks I see Jaylen Brunson who was unbelievable he’s pounding the ball he’s taking a lot of contested shots they they need someone besides their that is their offense they don’t have like a flow they don’t have a movement more size though I mean they definitely no they got they honest they got good size hardstein Robin great I just think the odd man out now with the success they had with jul was Julius Randle I think they got to decide on him and I think OG is a perfect fit for Jaylen Bruns I think he’s his versatility his defense the success they had as soon as they made that trade they were a different team it’s almost like Julius Randle goes out they get OG Jaylen Bruns becomes a star and the Knicks are good again so I think that would that’s the obvious move to me I don’t know I I think Jaylen Brunson has become a star but if I’m the New York Knicks cool now I got two cuz I had one guy that had an emergence right before Jaylen Bronson and Julius Randle yeah gets hurt now you give an opportunity to Jaylen Bronson yes they play very good basketball that when Julius Randa was out but Chandler you all not know how that works you’re playing with house money now you got guys that’s injured you have a you have a built-in reason to go out play loose play free no pressure on you to play good basketball I think we saw a product of that with this Knicks team nobody had even though Jaylen Brunson is saying this is not a successful season nobody had them winning the championship we had them being competitive we had them being contenders and that’s what they were and I think they’ll still be this they’ll probably still lose in a second round with Julius Randall so why shake the tree when you have these guys not if they’re all healthy it’s also it’s similar to me the Houston situation like what with singon out Jaylen green come turns into a star hold on Beetle’s here now you say Beetle what you said not if they’re all if the Nicks were all healthy see now we come on you think they would have won you would think they would have lost the second round against the PTI yeah hell no I think they would have eat the Celtics okay if they were I’m not crazy I don’t know why we’re buying you Haven believe in the Celtics I don’t believe in the Celtics I yes you said that but I think if I think if the I think if the Knicks had bonovich in this series they would have beat the Pacers like they they they yeah I think they were much they lost four or five solid consistent role plays I want to take I want to take that back okay they don’t lose yeah if they have Julius R and all of these guys yeah so why are we looking to move on from from him is it the price tag that’s the problem or is it chemistry because I feel like you have all the pieces in house already I will say their BG their biggest issue this season obviously was health so the fact that they have something to look forward to next year they have the pieces there’s no Panic they’re in a great situation do you want to dump your four years 180 million whatever it is in the Julius r. that’s a lot that’s a decision to make how much is OG going to cost like you’re going to extend jayen Brunson you got to give give him Equity of the team what he’s done the last two years so so he’s getting paid so I just think there’s a decision yeah there’s no reason to panic for the New York kns they are in great hands back to back years in the second round yeah that’s pretty do you not feel like when you have a season like this with this many injuries like is there a paranoia about uh we going to always have these injuries I know if you’re playing 40 plus minutes and you’re do the same system and you’re grinding you’re taping your ankles for Sho around yeah I don’t think those injuries are going to stop but there’s always going to be things nagging but I do think that they they have they had the bench they had the players they just had injuries so then tibs almost had no choice but to play these guys lot minutes towards the end I there’s no one there’s no one left there was lit no other option like next dude up whoever that is uh Rick Carlile said that when you win a game seven at the Garden I ain’t trying to it’s immediately history we not trying to hear cuz I remember at the beginning of this series The we wanted to talk about the refs and small Mar I believe cried yes and no play basketball you have a talented enough team to go out there and compete and win a game seven in the garden and y’all did it so if I’m the leader of that team if I’m one of the players on that team I want my coach to Echo that sentiment I want him to go in and say yo we can beat them we don’t care where we are that should have been the message from the beginning not at the end so I ain’t trying to hear I will say that to go into the I didn’t think both home teams would lose game SS last night there’s no chance and the garden was jumping you see all the celebrities they were there soon as the doors open like it was electric in shout out to Fat Joe Fat Joe went on he was on Instagram he said he he walked 16 blocks to get to the Garden cuz the traffic was bad say he couldn’t miss a second Lou brought it up early this end season tournament experience that was valuable the Pacers the moment was the moment wasn’t too big they were ready for this they’re think about it they’re playing in front of all these celebrities on Prime Time on the Madison Square guarden and they had the most historic start her first half of all time in postseason history so I think that inseason tournament like Lou mentioned we we praised we haven’t talked about them since we talked about how they’re gonna to change their offense they’re gonna have to play slower in the they played so fast last yesterday 40 points in the first quarter they were they were unbelievable and I do think that experience they they were not nervous they sh in the first half 70% 70 oh yeah 70 was in the first half 76% or something the whole game it it was insane so I think that was the most impressive thing that the moment wasn’t too big for them we always talk all series Jaylen Brunson this J Tyrese Al Burton had to be the equalizer what did you say she she treding to be professional I can shoot 67% if no one’s defending there’s no one left to defend yes they are they are Pros D chenzo had 39 no excuses no excuses McBride In the game no excuses who’s he supposed to guard Shams he’s this big they didn’t guard anybody that’s the problem they didn’t guard they gave away a 40 Point first quarter in a game they made their first like 11 of 12 shots and the only time that they missed it was a Turner’s dunk literally rattled up literally could not miss the sports God it was insane 29 of 38 77% in the first half that’s most in the postseason since 1997 God who did it in 97 that’s insane to me 39 points in the in the quar the most in the game seven history you can’t win a lot of games given up that like it’s nuts a lot of history last night a lot like a lot you can’t give up 70 points in a game seven at home and expect to win like they were doomed from jump these guys were getting easy buckets they played super fast they almost did the bet we were talking about how the half court slows down against Pacers every time Knicks would score they would get out and get they would inbound the ball fast you got you got to think in in seven games the schemes are out game planning is out the scouting is out it’s my team versus your team we know what y’all going to do you know what we’re going to do it’s going to be the better team win and Indiana said you know what let’s go back to our natural identities let’s get out and run get stops be a fast basketball team they caught New York slipping and it work for him like I said they had a 40-point first quarter that set the tone for the next three quarters of that of the game game and it wouldn’t close from there uh shall we talk about the hoodie the Tes halberton hoodie um this is not before the game this is after the game the Reggie Miller choke sign on look in any other context it’s kind of a cool hoodie yeah but what do we think about it after I love it give history I love all the talking that’s happened they said afterwards the Knicks were talking all series long and it was physical you could see it there was so many different altercations the physicality was High um and that’s what I was saying earlier Tyrese Halbert and he had to equalize dyl Brunson he had to be the best player on the floor last night he was and whoever was talking to him gide I hope he learned a lesson cuz he got hot Spike who was it he got hot in that first quarter for he didn’t miss he didn’t miss like it was it was an unbelievable offensive performance it was a historic performance and lit when you have a game like that you deserve to win and move on so the fact they did do that at MSG in game seven on the road crazy impressive so the winner goes the spoils man they won where what you want I guess so and now here’s your prize the Boston T you don’t think it’s very good I think this series is going to suck and I don’t even want to watch it there there I said it that’s my honest assessment of this Easter confence do you think this okay we’ll get I will watch it it’s my job but I’m not I’m not contract obligated obligated I no but it’s it’s you know you want to be like I’ll say this at least the West little more excited about that I’m a little more excited about that and here’s why let’s get to it uh all of those Futures bets

  1. What the Knicks should do with Randle is get him healthy, ignore all the media made-up trade Randle stories, and get this beast of a ballplayer back on the court in a Knick uniform. And again ignore all made-up trade Randle silly rumors that have been going on for 3 years now.

  2. Bro with Brunson OG and Randle the three only played 12 games together their record was 11-1 stop the Randle slander

  3. See, here's the thing…While the Knicks had an unusual amount of injuries, but the what ifs goes beyond the Knicks…What if Giannis and Dame were healthy? What if Jimmy Butler didn't get hurt? Or Embiid?? By playing the What if game, we can go down a deep rabbit hole because seedings and matchups changes…

  4. Get rid of Robinson and Randle for a big who rebounds, rim protects and plays defense. He can score in his spot because they they have scorers. McBride is a keep as are the other bench players. they need more reps

  5. How about we keep Randle and go out and get Mikal Bridges along with a couple roll players to bolster our bench and it will be on and poppin like Orville Reddenbacher next year.

  6. The Knicks don’t really need to add a superstar or even a star player for that matter. Solid 3 and d guy or solid backup guard to give Brunson more rest opportunities.

  7. The Knicks were 11 – 1 this season when Brunson, Randle and OG all played, including wins over Minnesota and Denver at home and a blowout win at Philly with a healthy Embiid. Maybe do a little research before stating that they took off when Randle went out.

  8. Bring mikal bridges to manhattan with the orange and blue💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

  9. They run it back unless they can trade for Bridges. They should re-sign IHart & OG. Dangle Bogan's expiring with picks. Draft some older college Pro-ready prospects to extend the bench. This team was like 12-1 with Randle and OG in the lineup, they were beating up teams in January.

  10. Fully healthy they are in the Finals. They were blowing out the Wolves and Nuggets regular season when they played with everyone healthy

  11. These guys are smoking something strong. Fully healthy they are in the Finals. They were blowing out the Wolves and Nuggets regular season when they played with everyone healthy

  12. Joel Embid played hurt, and the talk is that if he was healthy, Philly beat the Knicks. Do they realize we had 4 starters out and a rotating player? We took on the league with our bench for half the season and still took Indy to 7! With a full squad, they get swept along with Philly!!!

  13. This is one of the worst panels I've ever seen. It's clear these guys watched about 12 games this year

  14. Knicks just have to add a few solid pieces to their bench once Randle and OG and Mitch comes back, Heart/Devo/IHeart goes back to the bench, Ppl tend to forget this team almost made the ECF playing 3 bench players in the starting lineup they just need to strenghten their bench with better backups at those positions including PG

  15. Extend Randle and keep him. There is no one comparable to him in trade market and Knicks will regret if they trade him. These guys gotta watch the playoffs more. Knicks lack size and another scorer besides Brunson against the Sixers and Pacers. Knicks missing the above without Randle. Randle is All Star player that is irreplaceable at the 4 spot. No other trade that can replace his scoring and size. Knicks can go small with Randle at 5 spot if game goes in that direction with Brunson, Hart, Divencencio, OG/McBride and Randle

  16. Lou Williams speaking facts Carlisle is a clown ,the history is gonna be the pacers beat a injured team in 7 games

  17. 2-0 with OG up. Then OG gets hurt, and the Pacers offense starts to come alive. If OG is healthy Game 3, a game Indy won by 3, I think NYK wins game 3 and they would have been up 3-0. Thats the series.

  18. This is simple…you run it back with Randle and see how things go. If Randle is hustling at both ends of the floor and playing like he did before he got hurt you keep him…if he doesn’t and/or he does but has the bad body language he gets when things aren’t going his way…he trade him. He is an asset. Don’t trade the asset unless necessary. Randle gets too much criticism. He is a beast.

  19. Send him to okc okc needs a player like him everyone says okc should sign a center i think they need a scoring 4

  20. Randle didnt "go out" at the trade…after the trade with Randle, Brunson, and OG they went 14 – 2 and were the winningest team in the league that month. Contractually they are in a bind based on what the lose in Randle vs what they get back. To me the best move, if possible, is Bogdonavich, another role player and three picks for Mikal Bridges. The Knicks would then have two 20 ppg scorers, two elite 3&D (OG and Bridges) players that can guard 1 – 4, and score 15 ppg, and still have Hart, DiVincenzo and Robinson..that would be a tough, contending 9 man rotation..

  21. Yeah but what's up with pacers now that they're playing a healthy team? Nothing. They'll win one game and go home. And as far as this not being a successful season for the Knicks…😂😂Yeah right. Where'd you get this guy?
