6 Knicks Trade Targets per ESPN | New York Knicks Rumors

the off season is officially here for the New York Knicks and ESPN has crafted a list of six players that they think Leon Rose Tom tibo and the New York Nicks front office could Target this summer in a blockbuster trade we’re going to break that down on today’s show as you’re watching Nicks Now by Chad Sports and I am your host Marshall Green my question to you is this what should the Knicks do this off season 50 wins second seed you’re losing seven in round two what should they do type for run it back or type B for B for they should make a big [Music] move according to Howard Beck he thinks the Knicks are all in on making a big time trade former New York Post riter sports columnist out in La now works for the ringer says this and he said he heard it from an close a source close to James Dolan at MSG the Knicks now as ever are in a Perpetual hunt for another glitzy star in Doan as ever expects one and we’ve all heard for quite some time now that this is the summer the New York Knicks are going to make a big move we heard that last summer we heard that at free agent uh the trade deadline we’ve heard for over a year now that this is the year that the New York Knicks plan on making a big time trade and they’ve got all the draft capital in the world to do it two picks this year potentially four next year eight tradable first round picks and 11 for future first rounders in the next seven years your 2025 draft Capital you got a top four protected pick from the Bucks top 13 protected from Detroit top 10 protected from Washington and the New York Knicks they also have their own pick if the top 13 protections hold true they will then go to 11 then nine and then for Washington if it’s not a top 10 pick uh the protections and roll over to a top eight pick going into the 2026 NBA draft the first person that ESPN is listed as trait targets for the Knicks this off season is Devin Booker the guard the scoring Guard from the Phoenix Suns and there is a lot to break down about Devin Booker as a trade candidate for the New York Knicks but my first thought about all of it is if the Phoenix Suns are actually going to blow it up like they’re going to move off Booker trade Durant they can’t trade Beal nobody wants him he’s got no trade clause if the suns are signaling to the league that Booker is available the niick should go all in and get it done Booker is one of the best players in the league he’s been one of the best players in the league for quite some time he is a certified bucket last four years has an average less than 25.6 points per game never shot lower than 46.6% from the field he’s also a good three-point shooter can create his own shot while also in my opinion being an underrated playmaker he kind of had to take on some point guard responsibilities for the Phoenix Suns this year as they didn’t really have one with Beal Booker and KD the guy averaged 6.9 assists I also think he’s a little bit of an underrated Defender and I think that he next to Brunson makes a lot of sense Booker 6’5 6’6 could play with his back to the basket and he changes the ways defenses will have to guard the Knicks he’s also been a prime time player in the playoffs and that’s what the Knicks need they need another Bonafide star that’s had prime time success in the playoffs he has 47 career playoff games for Booker been there done that averaging 28 points per game five boards five assists 49% from the deck and 39% from three it doesn’t get much better than Devin Booker when it comes to a scoring guard talk about his Advanced analytics he would be a great fit next to the Knicks we need a guy that can knocked down and catch and shoot three every once in a while 30 % we need a guy then create his own shot from three besides Brunson 36% on those he knocks down 51.5% of his pullup twos 37.5% of his shots come from pullup twos think about that 51.5% on pullup mides and that’s 375% of his shot diet he’s also great around the rim shooting 60.8% less than 10t from the cup also Devin Booker it’s part of that se CA Mafia baby he’s a part of the ca Mafia and I have heard that Deon Booker is who Leon Rose wants and I have heard that and I’ve known that for quite some time at this point but you know what to buy something it’s got to be on sale and I don’t see the Suns trading Devin Booker why would you trade Booker if you’re the Suns the only way is if he forced his way out and it doesn’t really seem like he is going to do that there’s been some talk he wants to follow that Kobe Bryant Legacy a one team one player one career if you’re going to rol if you’re the Suns you trade Kevin Durant and you get picks and young players back trading Booker just signals we’re not even trying to compete anymore if it’s if he’s available go all in I don’t see it being all that likely to be quite honest with you though Mel Bridges is the second player that ESPN has linked to the New York Knicks as a trade Target and you know me baby I’m all in on the Nova Knicks you can never have too many Nova Knicks yes Mel Bridges is a top trade Target for me this summer once again and it honestly like it’s cool the whole Nova thing and stuff like that but it’s so much deeper than that the dude is a great basketball player and he honestly didn’t even have that good of a year this year with the Brooklyn Nets he was worse this year than what he was last year and I think a large part of that was because the Nets asked him to shoulder more of a scoring load more of a scoring responsibility you had to take a lot tougher shots but you see that the prior three seasons this year every year got better the workload increased the production increased the final 27 games for Brooklyn as he was after he was traded from the Suns to there he played like a superstar and he he embodies everything that also Josh Hart Dante D venzo and Jaylen Brunson ody do whatever it takes to win a b basketball game make winning plays and he’d fit like a glove not the OJ glove in this offense 38.5% on catch and shoot threes can go and get his own bucket consistently from three off the bouts knocked him down at 34% can create from for himself as well in the mid-range shoots up shoots the pull up two at 40 a half% not Elite when it comes to less than 10 feet from the basket but he is also a solid finisher there but like Booker it’s the same with Bridges would Brooklyn ever trade Bridges to New York they haven’t done a trade in 41 years I think it’s got to be a three- team deal if Brooklyn is going to trade Bridges to New York and I think that three- team trade off includes the Knicks the Nets and the Hawks Trey young to the Nets Julius ran the Hawks Mel bridg the Knicks and we figure out where the first round picks goes I just don’t see the ownership group in Brooklyn giving being the Knicks the missing piece to the puzzle potentially of a super team we’ve talked about Mel bridg channel for quite some time we broke down the quotes from Bill Simmons where he predicted the Knicks will overpay for him this summer I saw a lot of comments in the comment section and We’ve ran this as a poll but I want to get back to it who is the better player straight up who’s the better player is it Bridges is it Randall another thing I didn’t mention that I absolutely love about bridges is he doesn’t miss games I don’t think he’s missed an entire just voted second Team all NBA alongside Jaylen Brunson not going to lie to you when I read the all NBA teams and I saw the second all-nba team and I saw Brunson and Durant on the same team I said maybe that’s something we could get used to Kevin Durant was unbelievable good for the Phoenix Suns this year 7 27.3 points per game over five assists 52% from the field and 41% from downtown but my favorite thing about KD this past year was that he played in 74 of 82 games which was a major change for him in 2020 played 35 then 55 then 47 another underrated part of Katie’s game in my opinion is his ability to control the offense and almost play like a a point guard at times I think it was the last four years he’s averaged over five assists and he was once again really good in the playoffs this year for Phoenix they did get swept but you know what I think he gave you everything he got giving you 277 and three plus assists on 55% from the field imagine the Nick’s adding another score that can get you 27 on 55 and 42 splits a bad game for Kevin Durant is 23 points on eight of 18 I’d take one of those guys every single night and I’m dead ass serious when I say this I’m not just saying it Brunson OG Hart Dante D venzo Isaiah hartstein and Kevin Durant that says can they will they will win a championship if you have a top six of Brunson OG Hart Sten chenzo iHeart and Kevin Durant you will win a championship if everybody does say healthy and I honestly believe that Kevin Durant could look at the New York Knicks as a golden opportunity for his career Katie talks about it add Kevin Durant you might just get one of them or two another player that ESPN has mentioned as a trade Target for the Knicks is Joel ID and you know what I’m good on it be we’ve talked for a long time on this Chanel about trading for Joel and beid I’m good I don’t want Jo embiid on the Knicks do we really want another player that we can’t depend on to consistently play minutes with one of the most bloated contracts in the NBA and a guy that consistently lowers his level of play in the playoffs had some good moments with the Knicks against the Knicks no doubt about it but I am totally worried about the injuries and Joan beid is a player in my opinion that even though he is just 30 years old he’s an old 30 is Jo and bid going to be successful and dominant at 32 33 years old he’s extremely talented there is no doubt about that proba would have won his second MVP again this year but I’m not mortgaging the future for a guy that is always hurt I just cannot do that another player the Knicks have had mentioned and linked to them by ESPN in this write up or in this photo that they posted ESPN New York was Paul George and last off season we know the Knicks were in convers ations with the Clippers about a trade for Paul George and when you talk about on paper and when you talk about on 2K yeah Paul George would be a perfect fit for the Knicks you know why because he could playmake he can shot create he could defend and he knocks down threes it’s not just the Knicks guys Paul George would be a perfect fit on almost any starting lineup but a lot of the concerns that I have with embiid also apply to Paul George and he’s 34 years old and he’s had major injuries in his career love that he played 74 games this year but man he was terrible in the playoffs like absolutely terrible and that’s a problem for me kawhai Leonard couldn’t play the Clippers they needed Paul George to step in and he didn’t he averaged less than 20 points per game shot 41% from the field couldn’t buy a bucket and I don’t think that a guy like Paul George is someone I would give up Julius Randall for and pretty much if you’re going to trade for any of the players that we’ve talked about in today’s show randle’s probably got to be mentioned probably got to be mentioned in that trade talk is that just the way the NBA works you make a lot of money and you want to trade for someone with a lot of money that’s how you got to do it I will say this lineup looks pretty sweet this lineup looks pretty sweet Brunson har and dvo Paul George OG and hardstein I think that’s a really good team but I think it’s just backwards to trade Julius Randall for Paul George at this point I don’t think I would have said that 12 months ago I definitely wouldn’t have said it 24 months ago that’s growth that’s growth for young marshy not trading a 29-year-old two-time all NBA player three-time Allstar who was coming off maybe his best year in the NBA Paul George has a player option this summer so you could into the option and then Nicks could trade for him but I’m not trading for Paul George as my big fish if I can get Paul George without trading Julius Randall sure but I can’t give up Randle for Paul George at this point another player that ESPN set as a trade Target for the New York Knicks is Donovan Mitchell and we’ve talked about all of every angle you could with Donovan Mitchell at this point I have no interest in it I don’t I have no interest in trading for Donovan Mitchell anymore I know how special of a score he is I know what he could do with the ball on his hands I know the highlights that he creates I know he could be the engine of the offense in a high pick and role but I also just saw him not play in the final two games of the second round where he watched his team get beat up on by the Boston Celtics because he was hurt and he’s always hurt played 55 games this year 68 67 53 and at the end of the day when I think about about the final version of the New York Knicks the one where we’re not going to be trading about trades anymore talking about trades anymore I’m talking about that team in two years that we legit have a three-year window to win a championship I don’t want it to be two small guards that can’t defend I want a long lengthy versatile switching type of player next to Jaylen Brunson that ain’t Donovan Mitchell is he a good player yes is he a great score absolutely is he an All-Star no doubt about it is he fun is he electric does he make highlight plays yeah we already got our lead guard why are we adding another one go get a guy that can crate off the bounce that’s got height that’s got length and defensive versatility Donovan Mitchell’s not that guy for me is he for you anymore I think at one point the Knicks may have needed Donovan Mitchell I don’t think they do anymore do you do you want Donovan Mitchell on the Knicks he’s a polarizing player amongst Nicks fans you either love him or you don’t want him or like me you wanted him and you don’t you don’t want him anymore you it’s not the same team isn’t the same team that we were talking about adding Mitchell in the summer of 2022 why for yes and for no
