Jarace is one of the few guys we have with the physical profile to guard Tatum.

I love Sheppard but he’s too small. Toppin is too slow for that matchup. Both guys have been on him too much once Nesmith has gotten in foul trouble. As our backs get put more against the wall it really is an option we need to explore. His performance against the Clippers guarding their dynamic forwards gives me hope there’s something there

I just don’t think McDermott can help the Pacers currently or in the future, and I say this as a big fan of his play with Sabonis a few years ago. Not sure where his shot went.

It would be nice for Jarace to get some playoffs reps if Carlisle is just playing garbage time all of the 4th quarter. Otherwise next year will be his year to make rookie playoffs mistakes that he could have made this year.

I was hoping all season he would integrate Jarace for his defensive versatility alone…. never understood why he couldn’t carve out a few meaningful minutes for him outside a couple games. Would have been huge in this series along with the playmaking we have seen flashes of….. or could have been huge if we knew how he worked with the team.

I personally would like to see IJax get the Tatum defensive assignments. He’s athletic enough to stay with him, is a huge block threat, and is also strong enough to guard him in the post. You’d have to make sure to have shooters in there, and IJax is foul prone, but that’s the shift I’d like to see.

As much as I would love to see that, team’s taking it slow and steady with the development of the young guys, because we have a pretty full pipeline: iJax, Mathurin, Nembhard, Shep, Jarace

Even Tyrese and Obi and Nesmith are still growing into their roles themselves

No need to fast track anything, just let everyone grow organically

The challenge isn’t so much how to develope them quickly, but more like how to pay everyone and not lose them to free agency
