I like Vando but he def a concern he missed most of last season and he been injury prone his whole career with his foot problems.

As much as I like Vando, Luka would get his against him in the playoffs. They’re getting forcing the Wolves to switch off of McDaniels in the PnR, and if he tries to fight and stick, Luka gets enough space to hit the midrange. Physicality and strength (Kawhi/Dort) is needed more than length (Mikal/McDaniels/Vando)

Vando’s style of defense is very unique. When he’s in tip top shape, he’s superb at ball denial, which imo is the absolute best way to lock down an elite offensive player. An elite offensive player can pick their poison anywhere on the court, and the best of them can pass extremely well also. The best thing a defender can do imo is stop them from ever getting the ball and force them to work off the ball if they ever want to touch the rock, which requires excellent conditioning (off ball movement) and good passing teammates (to get offensive player the ball when open).
Another thing he does well, which ironically AD does extremely well also, is defend two players simultaneously. Vando can double team and recover back to the open man simultaneously (when allowed to do so), which is not something we often see from players. AD does this in the pnr when defending both the ball handler and recovering to the big.

He can’t guard Luka either. The notion that Vando – who is a relative nobody that will be forgotten even before he retires – can defend one of the very best offensive players in history, is laughable.

Vando ad is the best two man duo at guarding luka in the league. Not even mcdaniels and Gobert can replicate it
