Really what I love most about this thread is now it pushed back on the misconception that Ihart isn’t an elite defensive or rebounding center that’s pushed by those that want to hype up his backup. Like his defense is arguably better than the guy that backs him up based off last year

  1. The data backs up the eye test that iHart had a phenomenal year and really stepped it up defensively when inserted into the starting lineup.

Defensive win shares isn’t a perfect stat, but it basically tries to isolate an individual player’s defensive impact on team wins.

iHart rated in the top 20 in the entire NBA with only Josh Hart rated higher on the Knicks.

In comparison to iHart, Mitch’s best season in 21-22 – Mitch had less defensive win shares in his best season compared to iHart this season.

OG was rated as 1.1 defensive win shares in the 23 games played as a Knick, extrapolated over a full season he’d likely be at the top or right along both Hart and iHart.

In order to keep our January identity it’s essential we keep both iHart and OG.

Nobody is saying IHart defense isn’t good. People are saying Mitch defense is better because some people here said IHart is better than Mitch on offense and defense.

Reality is we need both Mitch and IHart. They each bring something different to the table. Who starts should depend on who Knicks are playing.
