Blazers Workout Jaylon Tyson, Adem Bona, & More | Blazers Uprise Live

e [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] what’s going on everybody Welcome in to today’s episode of Blazers uprise live it has been a minute since we’ve been able to have an episode of Blazers uprise live uh earlier this week our Monday episode was supposed to be our mock off season draft that lagged out and uh yesterday I was setting up brand new internet so did not get a stream to you yesterday but this stream is coming to you on that brand new internet and we get to see how it goes I I have no idea what to expect but I literally have a brand new modem I have a brand new router and I have a brand new like cable connecting the internet to the modem like literally switched out everything that I could so if there’s still lag issues then I can actually confidently blame Comcast because before it was like H I think it might be Comcast but I don’t know now we get to find out because I got brand new equipment Eric you just recorded the latest episode of Hoops Crush I’m looking forward to that how’s it going I’m not too bad yeah we’ve been doing on Friday nights waiting for the games to end and then record a quick episode so sorry it’s a little late everyone but I hope everyone in chat is doing well thank you for tuning in how are you today Tori good man so today I’ve been preparing to start free agency tomorrow for our mock off season if you’re not keeping track of of our mock off season want to do so Discord link is available to you in the description everything is in a Discord thread in our amazing Discord server and uh yeah you can go check it out through there um for agency starts tomorrow we’ve already had our draft you can go see the draft picks you can go see what the Blazers did with their seventh and 14th picks and today on today’s show we’re going to talk some draft the Blazers workouts are underway we’re also going to talk some draft risers some draft fallers some guys whose stock may be changing whether it’s based on our own big boards or just consensus opinion Rising on certain guys falling on certain guys I’m looking forward to getting into some of those names we’ll of course talk about the Conference Finals and we will talk about scoot Henderson was he snubbed from the all rookie team I want to get your guys’ thoughts when we get into that but first Eric we got to start off with the Conference Finals and specifically today’s game so I’ll I’ll be honest I only watched the last four minutes of today’s game um but I do of course because I always do have an opinion on something um that was one of the worst final defensive possessions I’ve seen from you’re up to with 12 seconds left the Timberwolves are up two against the Mavs Mavs inbound they have go bear on the Court Dallas immediately goes into a pick and roll with goar to get goar switched onto Luca and then Luca isos him and you know that’s not a great matchup but if you’re Rudy goar knowing that you’re up two you don’t want to give up a three that loses you the game if you give up a two at least you get a chance to win the game or ultimately you go into overtime but Rudy go bear man gets twisted around on a couple Luca Crossovers and and uh overreacts to the last one and starts running towards the rim Luca hits a step back three wide open just that was just terrible defense for Mar goar I know he’s a big man Eric but you cannot give up a three in that situation you cannot turn around turn your hips towards the Baseline to try and take away the drive because the drive doesn’t beat you unless you foul the three beats you and that’s what he gave up I I just thought that was very poor defense on his part but also maybe he shouldn’t have even been in the game in the first place I don’t mind him being in the game I just think well there was that point where McDaniels looked like he wanted to get back and recover to Luca and then he hesitated too long and Lively did a good job of going through so they had to make a decision whether to go with them or not but if goar’s in the game in that situation you have to get the ball out of Luca’s hands you have to Blitz that screen in my opinion and double team Luca and you have McDaniels and uh goar two really lengthy guys who could um you know Luca is a big guy too but you could disrupt that pass a little bit so I think you have to get the ball out of his hands like you mentioned a two does not beat you so if he somehow gets the ball Lively and Lively scores you still have a chance at a game-winning shot and you also have overtime you cannot just let Luca isolate Rudy goar like that and then like you said also if you’re Rudy goar you have to force him to drive you can’t get caught up with him crossing over who cares if he crosses you over just play out so he doesn’t make a three and uh so yeah just poor defens of all defense all the way around and thought uh I thought the main problem was that they should have they should have doubled Luca you gota it’s Luca I mean that feels like the type of way that the Blazers would lose a Western Conference Finals game if they were good yeah it’ be something like that like why why you have them in the game why are you switching why are you overreacting to the drive like just you could not have played that any worse if you’re Minnesota um go over the screen and force Luca downhill and force him towards goar if you’re going to have him in the game don’t switch it just didn’t make any sense uh Dallas is up 20 in this series and I would say it feels over because Dallas wins both games on the road in Minnesota but last round we saw Minnesota win both games in Denver go up 20 and then lose the next three games and go down 3-2 I thought that series was over twice I thought it was over when the Timberwolves were up 2 winning both games in Dallas and then I thought it was over once the Timberwolves completely choked that lead and we’re down 3-2 and then the Timberwolves ultimately came back and won so if that series is any precedent this series is not over but it almost feels like the Minnesota Timberwolves peaked by beating the Denver Nuggets in a a little bit and both these games are very close but you lose both of them at home is that an experience thing I don’t know you have that bad lack of execution they got screwed on a call uh that’s what I want to talk about next I don’t want to get into that until we finish talking about this game though and then we’ll talk about the call um it’s just I don’t know is this series over Eric like do you think Dallas is going to run away with this series do you think this is like Dallas and four or five or do you think the turn wolves can at least make this series go long well obviously Dallas or Minnesota needs to win the next one cuz you can’t go down 3 0 but Dallas has lost the a few games at home this uh postseason so uh but if you don’t win both of them I think if you’re if Dallas is just thinking all we have to do is win one at home and we we’re up 3-1 in this series and I think it’s over uh but yeah I don’t know I mean I wouldn’t put anything past this Minnesota team I always say this soor it feels like a situation where you sell rate winning uh a little too much you know a second round series and you feel like you’ve arrived and accomplished something which is they have I’m not saying they haven’t but um same thing happened with the Blazers it felt like they won the championship after uh beating Denver in the second round and then um you know played well in some of the games against Golden State obviously had the lead in all of them uh but it just it feels like they’re not as locked in as they were and it also took a ton out of them like especially Anthony Edwards uh winning that Series going seven games um Dallas gets it done a day earlier so they had at least one more day to rest um so it just feels like Minnesota has done all they could this year and I’d be I mean I I wouldn’t put it past them I guess but like it just feels like they’ve kind of hit the wall a little bit but at the same time like you said they should be maybe up 20 in this series instead of down 02 yeah U PJ Washington hits a big three the game before um towards the end um tonight they have an 18-point lead in the first half um give up a little bit before halim and then uh they don’t play well in the second half um so it’s it’s kind of crazy that to say all that yet they’re right there in both of these games and could have easily won both of them yeah and that’s the beautiful thing about the NBA and about sports is you have an 82 game regular season you have these playoff series that both the Timberwolves and Mavericks have won and ultimately it comes down to who meets the moment in a close game in both of these close games in both games has been Dallas and one play that goes the other way in each game and it could be Minnesota up 20 and that’s what I love about playoff basketball this time of year is just everything’s on a razer’s edge and that’s the one thing about Minnesota too even if they don’t win both in Dallas even if they’re down 3-1 I think they’re very capable of keeping games close and getting it to a point where it’s a tossup right and if you’re able to be competitive in every game you got a chance to Rattle off three in a row uh they rattled off two in a row against Denver twice including two in Denver they um you know could easily rattled off two in a row here they of course swept Phoenix one four in a row like they are very very competitive and their defense will keep them in games so that’s why I don’t think the series is necessarily over I I do you know think they have to win game three just because a team has never come back from a three deficit but at some point just like with a 16 seed in March Madness some team will and if it’s going to be a team I think maybe it would be this Minnesota Timberwolves team simply because of the way they play defense the way they can wear teams down um but man they dug themselves a hole and assuming Dallas wins Tim rolls fans and the organization will look back at these first games like man we needed to win one of those we needed to win one of those and you couldn’t win either and there was a call that contributed to this Eric and the NBA needs to change this rule so there was a play with 47 seconds left the olls were up two at the time if I recall correctly up two at the time and the ball gets passed to Jaden McDaniels along the Baseline 5 seconds on the shot clock 47 seconds on the game clock Kyrie Irving reaches around from behind him and just straight up whacks his whacks his forearm hits his forearm doesn’t hit ball at all clearcut clear as day foul doesn’t touch the ball at all Jade McDaniels because he got his forearm hit loses the ball out of bounds they call it Minnesota ball and it’s one of those calls where you could tell like the refs didn’t exactly see the play they just knew that Kyrie caused the ball to go out of bounds whether it was he hit the ball or he hit his arm so they call it Minnesota basketball right which is closer to the correct call it should have been a foul but at least it was going to be Minnesota basketball but Dallas challenges okay and what’s the point of challenges it’s to try and get a couple more calls right it’s for coaches to be able to you know have a little bit of control over referee mistakes and correct them that’s why you have reviews in sports is to get calls right so referees go to the Monitor and they review the play and they took a while to review it which was kind of weird because it was very clear on the out of bounds who it last touch it only touched Jaden McDaniels but referees are not allowed to go to the replay monitor in that situation reviewing an out of bounds call and call a foul they were not allowed to call foul even though they’re looking at that replay like damn he got fouled like the refs knew it was a foul everybody knew it was a foul based on the replay but they were not allowed to call it a foul and the commentators during the game were were complaining about this like why be able to go to the monitor to make the right call but then based on clear-cut evidence on the monitor you’re not allowed to make the right call I have never understood that that and that made a huge difference in this game it should have been a foul the timber wolves probably win this game if the refs are allowed to make the right call based on a replay review so I don’t understand that at all I don’t agree with like giving coaches the power to um you know challenge a play and say he got fouled when it was a no call but if you’re going to review an out of bounds call and you realize that the reason the ball went out of bounds is because the offensive player got fouled you should be allowed to call foul and just make the right call and they weren’t owed to do it a rule that stops refs from making the right call is a dumb rule absolutely uh I think it was the we we talked about this R before um even I think before Blazer’s upright but uh I want to say it was the Texas Tech Virginia NCA finals where this happened too and it went off the fingertips of someone and cost I don’t remember it was that exact or not but one of those games um deep in the NCA attorney it cost a team a game um of course it’s happened against the Blazers a few times um early on when they started reviewing stuff again um it’s just what’s weird to me is okay you you say you can’t call a foul but you can challenge foul calls so why but you can’t challenge a call that’s not a foul to make it a foul like that doesn’t make sense to me like if you can challenge a foul it’s like the stupid go tending thing right you can’t challenge it unless they call it or they can’t review it unless they call Goal tending so it’s like almost better that they call a foul and then review it or something yeah uh or call a go so they can review it um I forgot what game might have been game one of this series one of the games recently had that exact scenario where the refs got to review it with without it being a challenge on a goal um uh so to me like Bill bich in the NFL said this for years like we have two challenges at the time like why can’t we just use it on whatever we want to use the two challenges on um and so like I feel like the NBA could just do that um the the argument against that is always oh it slows down the game too much but in that instance you would have known the right call in 15 seconds one replay and you could tell what the right call was in that it was challenged anyway like there was the review whether that was a rule or not it was the review right so yeah yeah no 100% agree I mean it’s just silly to me cuz you’re reviewing what caused the ball to go out of bounds in terms of who hit it but what caus the ball to go out of bounds was a foul so I think because of this they will change the rules this off season Eric yeah this seems like a high-profile enough incident uh the NFL once again um had that Ram Saints pass interference that wasn’t called and then they they ended up taking it away after a year but they experiment with being able to challenge pass interference uh after that didn’t really work but you know they immediately changed the rules and that was in the NFC Championship so I I’m pretty sure you’re right uh I would be surprised if uh that rule isn’t addressed in the offseason it just it’s it’s silly because Kyrie was calling for a challenge knowing he fouled knowing he didn’t touch the ball yeah I know it’s like how many times did we see that this year it felt like a lot where it was like like someone would challenge uh including the Blazers and like it would the the call would go against us but we won the challenge because it was like different than what they called on the floor or something like it’s so dumb but like I don’t I don’t know I like I’ve never understood why th refs can’t be like oh well that’s a foul it went off him but and the broadcast like you mentioned said uh they they like they must be keep reviewing this hoping they see something that makes it so they could give it all in Minnesota but yeah yeah yeah so got to change that rule I hope they do uh because you shouldn’t be deciding like the entire season based on not being allowed to make the right call like I I would be all for in the playoffs like expanding it to you got two challenges and you get a third if one of them’s right you know what I mean like in the NB in the NBA Playoffs you have to get these calls right regular season matters but it doesn’t matter like the playoffs and I’ve never understood why like challenges are the same in the regular season in the playoffs and reviews are the same in the regular season versus the playoffs like I understand they didn’t like how much the game was slowing down the final two minutes when they reviewed like every out of bounds call but in the playoffs like I don’t hate that because of how important each possession is to the totality of your entire season I’m not necessarily saying that should come back like I get both arguments but I wouldn’t them being able to go to the monitor for every out of bounds play and then if they see a foul being able to call a foul because I care more about them getting it right it’s always weird after a game when they get a huge call wrong and it affects the outcome of a game and ultimately might the might affect the outcome of the entire season so I just wish they would get things right especially in the playoffs you got to get things right it matters too much so hopefully they change it I can’t remember what game this was it was another game here the last couple days but uh there was one where a coach challenged a jump ball and I was like what are you doing like even if you win the challenge like you still had a chance to get the ball on a jump ball situation like so yeah I’ve never understood when coaches do that because sometimes it’ll completely backfire and they won’t even get the opportunity of a jump ball right uh it’s just kind of it’s weird only having one and then uh yeah the way coaches use it sometimes was was ridiculous yeah but let’s segue into a fun topic every year Eric because Blazer workouts draft workouts are underway and I want to thank a member message that goes along with this shout out to Oscar twoyear member 28th 28-month member message thank you Oscar says draft makes you have hope once a year I love that feeling yeah the draft is just for for organizations that suck for organizations that are bad the draft is always a lot of fun because it gives you hope that maybe one day you won’t be so bad maybe one day these you’ll accidentally draft the right guy maybe in this year’s draft and he will take you to Salvation okay I mean look at the Bucks before they got Yannis they were a terrible organization they get Yannis and now they won a championship and they get Dame when he asks out of Portland right so hopefully Portland is able to get a a couple players that can help reverse the course of the organization uh obviously they are rebuilding so that involves losing games on purpose in order to uh get good draft picks now you got to capitalize on those draft picks and I I have some hope I have some hope for this draft I think there’s going to be good players at available at every pick I think the early second round actually is a little impressive to me um I think there’s this draft is fine in terms of role players in terms of guys that can come in and be like fifth sixth best players on a team this draft is weak in terms of star power uh and I feel like people evaluate drafts just based on the star power at the top wemy scoot last year Brandon Miller right oh that’s a great draft but that wasn’t necessarily based on the 20th and 30th best prospects in the draft I don’t think last year the 20th 30th 40th best prospects in the draft are were any better than this year uh and you have some guys that we’re going to talk about later that are names of note uh but I fully agree with you Oscar yeah gives us hope as Blazer fans and Eric they did their first draft workouts yesterday at the Blazers practice facility and they worked out six players those six players were rayquan battle a 65 guard out of West Virginia ADM Bona a 6’10 center out of UCLA Arthur Kuma a 6’7 forward out of Kansas State ugana oneno a 7 Foot Center out of Kentucky will Richard a six foot guard out of Florida and Jen Tyson your guy 6 foot6 Wing out of California so there are two maybe three names of note here the biggest name of note is obviously Jaylen Tyson and I saw some fans like talking about him as if the Blazers were working him out for their 34th pick they have the 30th 34th pick in the draft I don’t think there’s any chance he lasts till then I think this workout was more so for the 14th overall pick because I think that is closer to Jaylen Tyson’s range I think his range is late Lottery to about 20ish maybe he falls a little bit beyond that but uh he was really the only first round Prospect out of these guys demon is a second round Prospect I’ve seen an yenso as a very late second round guy he might be a more undrafted guy and then the other three are guys that are basically guaranteed to go undrafted uh in battle Kuma and will Richard uh Eric what are your thoughts on this crop of players well I don’t know if this is true or not but there was a someone who was at the combine scrimmages and said they were sitting right next to Blazers uh front office and Scouts and stuff and they were raving about admon I guess and like talking about him the whole game like he was just this like awesome player which I mean he’s he’s fine uh but like they they were speaking very very highly of him um so we’ll see if that ends up being true obviously if they end up taking him at 3440 uh we could pretty much guarantee that was true um and uh yeah so and I mean I get some of the Intrigue um I think they measured like 68 without shoes though 6 8.25 without shoes he has a 7 foot 3.75 so basically 7 foot4 wingspan a 9 foot standing reach he’s an he’s an undersized Center he’s a he’s a really good athlete without much offensive skill he’s honestly a bit like Robert Williams I third yeah robt Williams of third became a a decent passer I don’t know if Bona has that capability but that is the ceiling for Bona he’s a second round guy yeah I yeah I mean cuz I don’t think he can play the four his game isn’t really A four man um see it’s it’s tough I I don’t know like I do think he’s someone who should be drafted like I’m not saying he he shouldn’t but he’s just it’s tough with those tweeners man yeah I think there will be better players on the board than him at 34 um that’s just my opinion that’s just based on my big board right my interpretations of prospects in this draft like he’s an intriguing guy that can maybe carve out a roll as a backup center if you take him in the second round but I just don’t see him being much more in the backup center and I’d rather draft somebody at 34 where even if it’s a small hope you have a small hope that they can eventually become a starter uh Bona will probably stick in the league just because he’s athletic can be a good lob Target and can block shots like that type of Center can stick around to the NBA and often times gets Tak in the second round and becomes somebody that you look at as a little bit of a value pick um but I don’t know I’m not too intrigued by him and it’s funny to hear the thing about Blazer Scouts being you know basically saying he blocks everything yeah yeah he blocks everything against uh you know second round prospects in this draft I don’t know Connor ask do you think we’d trade 34 and 40 to move up um actually don’t think we will explore that at all because if they move up from 34 and 40 you’re thinking late first right and that’s you have to pay that player almost twice as much as you would a second round minimum contract so I don’t think they want another guaranteed salary on the books um I think it’s more likely they trade back or out of the second round yeah I mean if you take somebody at 34 and 40 that does add up close to what you’d be paying somebody you take it like 27 28 uh 26 wherever you to but yeah exactly the 40th pick you can put on a two-way which doesn’t count against your cap uh especially I don’t know I don’t know when two ways will start to occur because normally early second round picks you actually put on normal contracts and then once you get later into the second round then you start to see guys get put on two-way contracts um and the Blazers haven’t been a team that have put their Sick Around rookies on two-way contracts that’s just something they’ve never really done but I think it’s more likely that they stay at 34 and then trade 40 for a future second then combine those picks to trade up but that is a very good question shout out to smog member for 40 months says time to overreact to every Blazers related tweet when was it not time to overreact to Blazers related tweet that’s all that’s all we do on Blazers Twitter man everybody a related tweet it’s always you know interesting to see the reactions to but uh thank you smok for being a member oneno is kind of like Bona let me see if I can find his measurements here did he even measure did he even show up was he even at the combine uh I don’t see his name I don’t think he was at the combine but he’s he’s bigger not as athletic and also a shot blocker without much offensive skill but I think you could maybe make a case for oneno over Bona like it I wouldn’t agree with it and it’d be very high on non yensa and a little low on Bona but it’s just always interesting to compare these bigs that are like shot blocking Rim protecting bigs that don’t do much else so well I mean Bona early in the UCLA season they were leaning on him heav like he was the only one who could score and their coach even had some Rants and postgame press conferences about how no one else was doing anything and uh teams were just loading up on on bonus so I think I think Adam has a lot better offensive game than onoo so yeah but how how much only differ how much of that was like him just overpowering people physically and athletically well I mean it could be the case but we didn’t see uh anso do that at all so like at least Bona has a little bit of tape of him scoring and being able to you know post up and and do some things so um like I don’t know I just I think that gives him a slight Advantage even if he’s a little undiz compared U but I don’t know I just I don’t I don’t really I’m not super high on either of those guys yeah I mean I just don’t think you take either one of those guys to ever post up right you know so that that’s where it’s like you’re talking about translation to the league and it’s like if you draft Bona or oneno or if you sign him as an undrafted free agent two-way guy whatever you’re just asking them to come in and rebound block shots and finish at The Rim like finish plays off dump off passes alues and I I don’t know is bona really that much better at those three things than on yenso that’s why I always think it’s interesting to compare those bigs because Bona you know was a 12 point pregame guy at UCLA 59% from the field 69% free throw percentage which is good on yenso only played 19 minutes a game averaged 3.6 points so literally was like a non-factor offensively yeah 55% from the field so in terms of like finishing plays uh that aren’t dunks but B definitely has a bit of an edge there it’s just how often are you going to have Bona you know what I mean like in the NBA as a backup center that’s not really what you’re going to care about you just want him to defend block shots protect the rim uh rebound so that’s why I think they’re both SE around prospects um I don’t really like bonus offense didn’t really impress me I do like that he shot almost 70% for the free throw line though as a sophomore that is a good thing watching Kentucky play I just I mean maybe some of it was once the Visage started playing I wanted him to play more and OB uh what was his name Aaron Bradshaw um I wanted him to play more too I just I got frustrated sometimes watching um Ono do like nothing on offense with with Kentucky struggling sometimes yeah true um Kuma might be an interesting like two-way guy to take a chance on he probably should have entered the draft a year ago sure sure should so he played at kraton and then the past year transferred to Kansas State he had second round Buzz this time last year transferred to Kansas State and just I don’t know Kansas state was coming off their Elite eight run behind uh Maris Noel right that was his name yeah yeah um so he leaves ended up on a a 2A with I believe the Raptors and then Kuma goes to Kansas State and it’s not even like he was any worse Eric his scoring jump from 12 to 14 points per game but his minutes also had a five minute jump so uh that’s not really saying much he averaged seven rebounds two assists his shooting from the field stayed at 43% he shot 49% from two both years his uh second to last year um with kraton and then last with Kansas and then he did improve his three-point shot from 31 to 34% but that was really the only noticeable Improvement and it’s like if you’re going to go back for another year you got to show a little bit more Improvement than that so he’s fallen off draft Radars a bit Yeah I think part of it’s that Kansas State team was so disappointing this year we’re not good so um yeah I mean I still kind of like him as a undrafted two-way guy um maybe Fringe into the draft guy I think he’s one of those guys who could be like the next kind of J Crowder light type player um someone who’s uh really good Defender um and just like kind of plays tough and mixes it up a little bit uh but yeah he made a he made a terrible decision to go back to school because I think he would have gotten drafted last year and in this weak Draft when you’re not even on a lot of M drafts and stuff that’s pretty bad U all it takes one team to fall in love with you I guess but um um yeah Eric says three and D it’s he’s not really a good three-point shooter he’s he’s a little better driving in the mid-range and stuff but um yeah I mean I wouldn’t mind um a team taking a a late late second flyer on him but yeah it’s probably going to go undrafted yep um let’s touch quickly rayquan battle is a Northwest Native from tallup Washington played two years at Washington played two years in Montana State then played last year fifth year senior at uh West Virginia last season average 16 points four rebounds 0.7 assists with two turnovers okay he’s 6′ five he shot 45% from to 34% from three um he’s not he’s not really an NBA Prospect 5 years fifth year scenery I don’t know how old he is um cool story like cool that he’s a Northwest guy uh but I just don’t really see where I I don’t see it with him as an NBA player I he just doesn’t shoot the three ball well shot 32% for his college career 34% last year and not somebody you want really make making plays considering he averaged um two turnovers last year in 0.7 assists um so it’s just what would his role be at the NBA I’m not sure yeah it seems like just a workout body um yeah that’s pretty much it yeah I don’t really think he’s going to end up on any draft boards and then will Richard uh played at Florida last year averaged 11 a game he’s a 65 guard shot 34 % from three he’s another workout body uh played 29 minutes a game averaged 1.3 assist and 1.3 turnovers so another very low assist guy basically just one of those bucket Getters that’s going to end up in the G League Beyond some summer league teams and Ste you know every summer league there’s always those couple of guards that nobody’s heard of that just a bunch of shots and take away touches from the young players that we want to shoot there’s plenty of names you can come up with but what what’s your what’s your ultimate example it’s Antonio Blakey and and they get hot for a couple games and then people were like this dude should be on our team we should trade CJ and have Antonio Blake he’s better than CJ there was literally people saying that cuz Antonio Blakey like went off in a couple of Summer League games because he just chucked a bunch of shots up and it it drove me insane man so will Richard you know he’s he’s a bucket getter uh he’s kind of like a microwave scorer shot 35% for his career from three 82% for the free throw line 58% for three so like at least he was efficient um he’s just uh not much of a not much more than kind of like one of those g-league summer league bucket Cutters yeah great and then save the best for last my guy Jaylen Tyson man um I’ve listened to a lot of his interviews lately he’s one of my favorite draft crushes has been one of my favorite draft crushes for months now um I was on the jayen Tyson train pretty early back when he was projected as a second round guy now a lot of mocks have him in the first round and I’ve gone back watched some film listened to his interviews his interviews impress me man he’s super confident Eric but also works his ass off really hard worker with a ton of confidence is a good combination um and then with everything else he can do like he’s the type of guy could bring in I think could play different roles well enough to see minutes for a good team and I still think he has some of the sneakiest upside three-year college guy uh played at Texas then Texas Tech then California had very valid reasons to transfer twice if you want to look into him you can basically uh was initially committed to Texas Tech when Chris beard was there Chris beard left for Texas he followed Chris beard to Texas and then he barely played at Texas like Chris beard said he was going to play and basically lied to him uh so Tyson ultimately then ended up transferring back to Texas Tech where he was initially going to go um and then after one year there there was some stuff about how his coach had some racism issues like some bad stuff so then he transferred to California right like two very valid reasons to transfer um three-year college player but still only 21 a half on draft day measured in at let’s see here Jaylen Tyson measured in at 6’5 a half without shoes but a 6’8 wingspan 8 foot6 and a half standing reach which I think gives him small forward size um it’s a similar standing reach to Justin Edwards or it’s the same standing reach as Justin Edwards Nicola jerisich Harrison Ingram Baylor shyman it’s half an inch shorter standing reach than Cody Williams Kevin mcculler Ryan Dunn um so I I think he’s small forward size I think he’s big enough to play small forward strong NBA body but what really impressed me about him is he’s just very well-rounded last year at cow averaged almost 20 points per game seven rebounds three and a half assists it was with 3.1 turnovers but he was like the only guy that could do anything with the ball there at California and dealt with a ton of attention from defenses shot 51% from two 36% from three the year prior at Texas Tech he was more of just a a shooter and shot 40% from three 37% from three for his career um it can handle the ball Shifty can attack the rim uh creative with his dribble can knock down shots off the dribble can hit shots from NBA range uh can playmake for others and you’re telling me you got a small forward that works hard supremely confident and he can dribble he can shoot he can pass and he can rebound also could be a solid defender in the league I don’t know exactly way he’s going to be but I think he could be like serviceable I’ll take that any day in the first round that’s somebody if the players don’t draft a wing with the seventh overall pick uh that is something I would heavily look at with that 14th pick yeah um Love is attitude it kind of reminds me of uh Caleb Martin a little bit um and we saw how crucial having a player like that was to Miami’s run last year um but just someone who kind of do does it all um but yeah good personality I I enjoyed listening to his interview yesterday um yeah just uh seems like he’s got a good head on the shoulders and someone who just seems like believes in himself enough that he can’t fail you know like I’m not saying he he will for sure be good but like he just seems like like the the type of guy who won’t let himself be bad you know like he’ll just keep working until he’s good enough to be there so um it seems like the type of guy who would be really good to add to a young roster and uh be kind of a leader type as well like I don’t know you can just tell by the way he talks that he’d be a good have some good leadership qualities and things like that so um I think we do need players like that on this roster um someone with some like personality like scoot has a big personality obviously but like um he he doesn’t really I don’t know it’s not it’s it’s more like the raw raw personality not necessarily the the uh like do whatever it takes to win personality or I’m not saying scoot’s not like that but like yeah it just it just seemed like he he has that the right mentality right head on his shoulders all that kind of stuff yeah and that stuff matters and this is the time of year where the prospects that I like I start to listen to their interviews and hear how they talk and then that either makes me feel even better about them or maybe pump the braks a little bit um but dude works hard and yeah that’s that’s something that you have to take into consideration when you’re drafting a guy is he going to come in and work his ass off to get better is he going to come in get a bit bit of a paycheck and become a little complacent and I just I think he has sneaky upside man I I think in this year’s draft it’s more so you can draft like the role players a little bit higher right uh next year’s draft is loaded with star talent and I’ve been hearing a couple people talk about this and it’s got me thinking about the draft a little bit like differently or just reconsidering maybe a different point of view on this year’s draft and basically the argument is given that there’s a lack of upside in this year’s class and some of the like upside swings are so raw like have like very big question marks uh you shouldn’t be scared to get that like connective piece um that really good role player that every team ultimately needs and this is a case that people have for having Reay higher on their boards and I kind of see it um because like ree is what 6’9 3 and d uh Wing that should be able to guard one to four um maybe be a little bit Jaden McDaniels is that’s not a bad thing to get even if you spent a fourth fifth overall pick in this draft with the lack of upside and the major question mark surrounding upside like I I understand the the argument a little bit better behind re thinking about it this way uh and Jaylen Tyson kind of fits into that that mold where it’s like how many teams how many playoff teams out there or teams that want to be playoff teams are wishing they had a guy that could play the three and shoot the three ball catch and shoot shoot off the dribble run some pick a roll make some plays handle the ball in transition um and had a good attitude and that type of role player every team loves having that type of role player when they’re trying to win games that type of Ro player helps you win games and it’s almost where if you’re in a position like Portland it makes sense to maybe get that guy considering next year you’re probably still going to suck and there is much much more top end upside in next year’s draft class to swing for right so but I still think Tyson that’s why I like him so much I still think he has some sneaky upside just because of the traits that he has just because he has some shiftiness off the dribble like I could see him being able to create and when you’re looking for upside most of the time you’re looking for a guy that can create consistently for himself and others and I think he when when he gets slept on a little bit he doesn’t get enough credit for that potential because I think he does have that potential just given some of the film that he put out last year yeah I think uh part of the thing with him is he didn’t show that his first couple years so I to me that’s encouraging that you turn into that type of player after like you mentioned just being more of a spot-up shooter at Texas Tech so um being able to shoot and and make plays off the dribble uh that definitely is a plus for any Prospect yeah so I think if he’s The Pick of 14 it will be a pick that we don’t look back on and think like man that was a waste of a draft pick mhm um I think there’s other guys that you could look back on and man that was a steal or in the worst case scenario man we completely wasted that draft pick you know there’s some Boomer bus guys there’s some other role player guys that I’m not as high on that I think could just end up being like not good like Johnny Fury is a guy that I could see the Blazers taking at 14 and he just doesn’t end up being anything more than like a ninth man shooter and that’s it he’s 6 fo8 but 6’8 wingspan like doesn’t impress me defensively doesn’t impress me off the dribble right like there’s some prospects out there that I could see having some downside to him I think Jaylen Tyson is one that’s a very safe pick with some upside so um like that he worked out for the Blazers we’ll see who they’ll work out next and we’ll talk about every player they work out because we are going all in on this year’s draft class especially considering the Blazers have four picks I love that the Blazers have four picks man and we get to talk about all these guys but I mean the Blazers had three picks and barely worked anyone out in the other two picks range right they yeah they had a couple of you know they brought in the Thompson Twins they brought in scoot they brought in um Brandon Miller but like they didn’t really work out too many guys in that 23 or 43 range so um yeah I hope this year they do things differently yeah absolutely let’s transition and talk about all rookie teams I’m going to pull it up and I’ll I’ll rattle off the all rookie teams but as you can tell by the headline on the left scoot Henderson is not on one of the all rookie teams for the NBA didn’t get first team didn’t get second team the players on first team were Chad holgren Victor Juan Bama okay those two were obvious Brandon Miller haime hawz Jr and then the fifth one Brandon psky I was a little bit surprised to see psky first team Eric yeah were you surprised as well uh yeah a little bit uh I mean he had some moments this year but uh it’s just kind of one of those like he played in golden states so he got some attention but also him playing in Golden State I feel like made him look a little bit better just playing in that system not to take away from him but his his game like is maximized in Golden State like the way he plays is what I felt like when I watched them um yeah I don’t know I mean he he played well he played well I mean per 36 12 and a half points eight rebounds five assists 45% for the field 38% from three 50% from two like that’s pretty dang good pretty dang good I I was just a little surprised to see first team um I thought there was a couple guys Derek Lively being one of them that deserved it ahead of him well I think it was inarguable that Chad wemy and Brandon Miller should have been on the first team hakz really I mean his end of the season wasn’t as good as the beginning but no I’m I think he was pretty safe as the fourth guy um other than that though I don’t think there was any sort of consensus on who should have been there so I guess it didn’t surprise me to see pods because I didn’t know who it would be at that fifth spot but yeah it’s it still seems kind of weird that he was first team yep um second team was Derek Lively amen Thompson kasm Wallace Keon George and GG Jackson who only played 48 games um do you think any of those guys okay let me reward it do you think scoot Henderson should have been ahead at any of those guys do you think any of those guys undeservedly got an all rookie team spot instead of scoot Henderson I mean you guys know I’m not I’ve been kind of hard on scoot all season um but I feel like he unfairly got his bad start held against him the remainder of the season and I feel like he wasn’t given credit for the Improvement he made during the season I feel like he did not uh like some of those people just rode him off and didn’t pay attention to the Blazers obviously we only won 21 games and uh not many of those were in the last couple months of the season um so I mean yeah you can make the argument he put up stats on a bad team or whatever that was tanking but so did a lot of these guys uh so I don’t know if you can necessarily say that should you know be a determining factor in him making it or not is that he was on a bad team um I mean we tied with the Hornets and Brandon Miller was third team yeah or the third third best rookie so and it’s and it’s not like and it’s not like Lively got ahead of pod jimsky when Lively was a big part in how good Dallas was this year yeah exactly and maybe like with Lively a little bit was uh once they traded for Gafford he didn’t I mean he still played you know half the game but he wasn’t like the only Center that was playing um so Gafford coming in and playing well kind of stole little bit of lively Thunder um but and and I’m not saying scoop like was amazing or had an awesome season or anything either but I just I feel like he did enough especially stats wise um which should matter a little bit in this um and and played well enough to to make that second team and you mentioned GG Jackson only playing 48 games he had a couple of big games yeah um against like or on like TNT cu the Grizzlies were supposed to be good once jaw came back so they had a lot of national t games and stuff I think the Blazers only had one that wasn’t on NBA TV all year um and so I don’t know I just I feel like scoot got kind of typ cast as a bust or like um as just not having a good season and I don’t think some of those people paid attention to him much after that yeah yeah um I think it fuels him I think it fuels him Mak R team I I mean just what I know of scoot’s Personality right like he I don’t know like something like this I feel like would fuel him I mean k Wallace makes it averaging seven points a game two rebounds one and a half assists yes he shot well but he played 20 minutes on a team that he basically got a bunch of w like he I felt like every time I watched any K Wallace he was getting wide open threes um now then again scoot was getting wide open threes because defenses were disrespecting but I mean scoot 14 and five man like I know the efficiency was bad I know he had some turnover issues but like I think his passing flashes were the brightest out of any rookie this year which is to be expected given you know scoot point guard top point guard take it like a big reason why he was taking third overall was his playmaking I just the more we get removed from the season man it’s like he’s a guard who’s like best version is somebody that runs an entire offense it is much harder for that type of guard to have a good rookie season than a guy like Cas Wallace who yes he’s like a point guard shooting guard combo but he basically plays off the ball and shoots catch and shoot threes and that’s about it um and I think scoot improved a lot his stats aren’t going to look good if you just base it off that but still we averag he averaged 14 and five mhm he shot 82% from the line um he you know 3. percentage after that horrid start was like 34% it’s not great but man it’s it’s not all bad so I thought he got snubbed I I would have put him ahead of CAS Wallace he wasn’t even the 11th player though Eric he wasn’t even the 12th player he was the 13th player Trace Jackson Davis got more votes than he did yeah I I just I like it’s it’s one of those things where as a Blazer fan you have to wonder like man is that because he’s playing in Golden State and scoot’s here in Portland if scoot was a Laker he probably would have made second team like that’s how I feel about this type of stuff that’s how I felt about Dame and it’s like I don’t know I’m trying not to get caught up thinking about that with this but I have a feeling that’s how it’s going to be with scoot or whoever our best player is like for eternity is just little bit too disrespected yeah I think a lot of it has to do with because a lot of these players well obviously all but Brandon Miller and wemy and Chad I guess the year before were drafted higher or lower than three so um you know you get a situation where Trace Jackson Davis has no expectations like that they weren’t even expecting him to play and then you know Draymond has all these issues and he steps in and actually plays really well for them um for a good portion of the season and so like you have positive hype around him whereas the energy around scoot pretty much the entire season was pretty negative um so I think it’s it’s more of that and then that just gets in voters heads um and uh some of these voters uh not saying in this situation it wasn’t that egregious for scoot to be left off but um some of the other voting you know like damont sabonis a first team all NBA like and all defensive teams the same guy that same guy also voted for Bobby poris all defensive team like I I don’t it’s just is that why Sacramento in our mock offseason traded for Bobby pis is it secretly uh embarking box who’s running the kings in our mock off season cuz now Bobby and sabonis that should be a lock down defensive Duo yeah I just think so overall I think it’s just like a case where scoot was viewed negatively because of the expectations yeah and a lot of these other players like GG Jackson uh was a late second round pick he went after our 43rd pick what did you go 46th or something like that and uh um so like you’re you’re not expec anything from him either and he’s all of a sudden like maybe a a capable rotation Wing moving forward so um it’s just positive momentum now the Blazers they picked seven and 14 this year or even 34 and 40 like if one of those players has a good year I think it’s the complete opposite they could have the exact same season scoot had exact same numbers percentages everything but they don’t have the expectations of scoop but I I think they’re pushing first team with those numbers yeah and I mean we saw play out a little bit when the Blazers were and sharp and like nobody expected him to do anything year one so then when he like Does anything go he like oh man he’s doing good stuff like a little bit more than we expected out of him year one because we thought year one was going to be a little bit of a like we expected him to play and receive minutes but we expected it to mostly just be like okay we’re going to try and develop him he’ll have flashes here or there but he shot 36% from three like I would have taken that going in 47% from the field uh almost 10 points a game like and then the flashes at the end of the year whereas scoot you expect them to come in and like push for Rookie of the Year some people did like average some people thought he’s going to come in and average 17 18 points per game on decent efficiency with like seven assists and that’s why before the season I said the expectations might be a little too high I think people are going to struggle being patient with scoot they’re going to need to be patient with scoot um I look forward to to seeing your too from him man uh because I I like I like how much he improved this year and going back and watching his film putting together that scoot film breakdown which if you haven’t watched I highly recommend it um I don’t know like there’s just very clear things for him to work on it’s it’s not like he’s not talented or not athletically or physically capable of doing good things on the basketball court it’s just Tendencies things he has to read like being able to go up with his left hand like it’s a very clear-cut path for improvement with him in my opinion I think getting better floor spacing will help him he was playing on a team that didn’t shoot the ball well this team was just dysfunctional I so there’s a lot of things that I feel like we’re going against him last year uh I’m looking forward to next season for scoot yeah I think uh I mean it’s not end all be all I guess but he has to make a decent jump from year one to two so clear uh show clearly that he had a good off season and implemented some things that he needed to into his game um primarily uh finishing U learning how to play defense a little better uh and of course continue to improve that shot if he shows uh some of those things improving I think that’ll make things a lot easier moving forward in terms of feeling confident about him becoming a a decent player yep 100% agree let’s talk about a couple draft risers Eric and I’m going to toss out a name that I’m starting to think might be a sneaky very late lottery pick or at least like 15th 16th range could come into play okay I’m going to give you one guess at this name before I say it cuz it’s always Cur I’m always curious to see who you think I’m thinking about um one one guess who am I thinking about right now super sneaky guy I’ll say he’s a shooter kind of kind of yeah he’s a he’s a shooter he’s a shooter um chat who am I talking about guess in the live chat I’m gonna say Tristan to Silva no but that’s a very good guess that’s another guy like talking about the whole mindset of if you’re just drafting for somebody that you know will be a good role player and will come in and provide some things like Tristan to Sila fits into that um chat is not going to guess it either shyan no shyan’s not going Lottery man I filipowski is already being mocked in the Lottery Devin Carter’s like been borderline lottery for a while um yeah it’s not filipowski because he’s kind of been mocked in that range all season long yeah I’m not I’m trying not to think of a guy that we’ve been talking about in the lottery yeah um yeah so there’s this I don’t know I’m just going to say it because nobody’s guessing it there is this 6 fo8 Wing out of France it’s another french guy oh I think pom D it’s going to be a top 20 pick yeah um beautiful shot moves well like the creation isn’t there but he seems like coordinated enough to maybe have some hope there but the very least like he’s not even going to be 19 on draft night shot 36% from three 58 games the season uh he’s playing overseas has been playing pretty well lately from what I’ve read watching the film just looks impressive and I could see a team liking the fact that he’s a 6 foot a shooter um late in the lottery because there is a couple of guys that like Johnny Fury has gotten some late Lottery Buzz that’s fallen off but he’s still looked at as a first round pick by many but I don’t see why Fury should be ahead of doot um I think do is one of the risers that we’ll start to hear talked about as a top 20 pick uh actually watched his last game I was pretty impressed with some of his passing skills and uh he had one move where he did a couple of of like crossover dribbles um showcase some decent ball handling I was like okay yeah uh yeah so I’m I’m starting to be a little intrigued by him as well um yeah I don’t know I I don’t know I kind of like see the 68 thing is like it’s kind of like the Ron Holland thing to me I don’t know if he’s that tall and that might be I think he’s taller than Ron Holland we’ll see because those guys are going to have to measure at some point uh but I definitely yeah I do think he’s going to going to rise up draft boards I don’t know if it’ll be it a lottery uh but definitely I think it goes in the first round for sure yeah yeah I think lot like 13th 14th is probably his ceiling there’s just always players this time of year that will jump up into that range from um nowhere seemingly and I feel like do is one of those guys Eric do you have a riser in mind other than him um well uh this isn’t necessarily mine but I did see today that Devin Carter is getting some buzz into the top 10 at both eight to San Antonio and nine to Memphis yeah what do you think about him maybe being in the top 10 I I’m not a big fan of him in either of those spots I think defensively Memphis San Antonio but you got Marcus Martin Memphis you got jaw like you’re already really good defensively you need bucket Getters you need shooting we got B too yeah like you you don’t really need defense if you’re Memphis they need shooting they need offense and connect if he’s there at nine is like perfect to me otherwise maybe like kingan is a guy that a lot of people are just assuming if he’s there at nine Memphis won’t think twice about and they’ll take him um just to you know they had some injuries on the front court on the front line they want to keep playing Jaren Jackson Jr at a power forward position and rim protection with him and klling in would be insane um so I I understand if you’re going defense going that route but going defense with a point guard when you’re already your best player as a point guard and you have Marcus Smart as a really good defensive guard and you have Desmond M doesn’t really make sense to me um so like if it’s not clinging they should absolutely go Dalton connect I couldn’t think of a better fit if you’re looking for somebody to help them win now and that’s kind of what Deon Carter is like he’s a ready to play role player um and then I don’t know do you agree with those do you agree with that take on Memphis for him yeah I don’t like him on Memphis Devin Carter at all um like I feel like that’s a decent pick like I don’t think he’s a bad pick in that range if you just didn’t put what team took him there mhm um I think he could definitely you could definitely justify taking him that high uh but yeah it’s just in my opinion um when you you already have three guards unless you’re trading one of them or have no faith in job being long-term answer it just it seems weird to me with how much you gave up to get smart last year um without being completely out on him um it just doesn’t make sense for me there San Antonio is a little different story uh I do see him being kind of a good fit um but uh I still think there’s guards higher up that have higher ceilings and for a young team uh with a potential Superstar for a decade plus um I I don’t see why why they wouldn’t take one of those guys over him with their picks yeah if I’m San Antonio I want a better passing point guard than Devin Carter to feed wemi run pick and roll with wemi Andor just a better scoring point guard because wmi is so so good defensively like next year he’s the best defender in the League this year you could have made a casy was the best he’s just didn’t have enough defensively around him right but if you’re talking about the point guard spot like you can go for a dynamic offensive point guard that doesn’t do much defensively because you have WBY behind him so like you know Anthony Simons gets a lot of crap for his defense but you know you look at maybe a similar guy more undersized but can shoot off the dribble can pass in this year’s draft and Rob Dillingham I like Rob Dillingham because he can pass a little better than Devon Carter and just much better shot maker shot Taker and then defensively like wemi is going to help him out so much it’s not going to be a problem like it would be in other uh other teams other spots so that’s why I’m not really a big fan for Devon Carter for San Antonio yeah agreed but it’s like that’s why I think Dillingham such a great cuz like Wy can mask a lot of his deficiencies yeah um and then couple other risers I’ll just toss two two names in here I think one goes back and people are going to say I’m biased but I truly think Michael AI aay is a top 40 Prospect um his measurements were great he rebounds the ball great he’s a really really good three-point shooter uh handled some like creation duties last year for pepperine um should be a solid defensive player like that’s a really really good role player I’m just praying goes back to Gaga and I think he will um he’s just a guy like winning mentality played nwac so he’s one of the nwac guys Eric um but I think he’s definitely draftable in the second round and a guy that a team would just get him in the building very high character guy like lots of good traits with him but then the other guy I think you like this guy too and I’ve moved him up to 30 on my big board so last pick of the first round mogbo oh yeah I just he he was an undersized Center when I I first started talking about him a while ago a little bit and basically my hang up with him was man he’s just too undersized and it’s funny because then he measures at the draft combine and measures 6′ 6 in tall and he’s a he’s a center that’s not good right but 72 wingspan 9 foot and a half standing reach for comparison chomi 9′ one standing reach Don Holmes 9 foot standing reach ad Demona 9 foot standing reach alexar 9 foot2 standing reach alexar only has an inch and a half taller standing reach than mogbo right I’ve become more comfortable with him being somebody that can legitimately play center like he’s still slightly undersized but not as undersized as I thought he was he’s a really good Defender a high feeli passer and just plays his ass off so if you’re talking about like backup centers second round centers right like we talked about Bona earlier we talked about anuno earlier I would rather take the guy that should be a good play finisher decent athlete right decent rebounder decent Defender so a lot of the traits that you normally find in those second round bigs but the thing that separates mogbo is he can really really pass and he can dribble a little bit so that makes him more intriguing than Bona than on yenso than some of these other bigs and that’s why I have him at 30 Tori I I think he’s quick enough to play forward I don’t other than shooting shot yeah but like defensively I don’t think he’s a center I think he’s a I think he’s like a either tamman Kamar like Scrappy type Wing like you know like I think I think he’s big enough to defend the center spot though and strong enough to defend I think I think he is I’m just saying like I feel like when I watch him it’s he’s more suited for that type of role instead of um and uh so one piece brings up Draymond Green and like you hate to compare anyone to that type of person but there’s the type of guy who can do a lot of the things he can and I I just I feel totally comfort able on him guarding quicker players um whether that’s like two twos and threes or wings um I like you said he can muscle up and and play bigger guys a little bit too um I I don’t think I’d want him permanently playing as a big but I think that’s where his Advantage is and that’s why I like him so much is like if he’s if he’s like Center size in terms of reach and and that kind of stuff but has like the skills of a forward outside of that shooting um I just think there’s a lot of stuff you can do and I I’ve made no uh bones about it like I have been really glued to the um the forwards and bigs that are uh show uh uh a passing IQ um and so like I just I really like that skill set a lot The Bigs who can who can make the right reads who see the floor well um because I just think it’s really easy to throw them in and teach them on offense or you know get them to swing pass and and find the open guy or or even make that high low pass um from the top of the key in the short rule um I just I think there’s so much you can do with those kind of kind of guys so I’ve been um kind of upping those type of players uh a little bit more uh recent in recent drafts and I I think there’s several of those kind of bigs that have some some nice passing skills in this in this draft yeah um he’s not much of a shot blocker more positional Defender at the center spot I do agree I like him you know you know where I love him you know where he is absolutely perfect 35th pick Eric San Antonio you play him next to wemi he can feed wemi he can defend that position wemi can shoot right uh so wemi can be the floor spacer out of the two like that is a fit in heaven San Antonio you know they liked having Boris di as a power forward that could put the ball on the ground a little bit and pass and did the little things I truly think he doesn’t fall past that spot I think San Antonio would be crazy not to take him at 35 that is such a perfect fit like there’s other teams where like the fit has some question marks where you know maybe picks after that where I wouldn’t take mogbo but if I’m San Antonio there at 35 I am taking him in a heartbeat and I’m running with it and I’m playing him next to W some and just imagine the big to Big passing with those two like yeah phenomenal stuff yeah I’m up 25 on my board right now yeah um any other risers for you well for me personally I mean we’ve talked about this for a while but I have jusik up to 14 on my board um I have him 15 yeah nice um I the one thing that worries me because I you’re going to say positive things the one thing that worri me like 6′ seven 6’8 wingspan six and a half stand of reach like you see him six’ seven like he looks big out there on the court can he can I don’t know like I think it plays small forward even with the small wingspan yeah yeah I think he’s a small forward just the part of the reason why I liked him before seeing his measurements like in past years was just the uh the size mhm it’s not quite as impressive you actually look at like wings ban State reach but I still have him at 15 right I just wanted to put that out there because you’re probably going to touch upon all the positive things that I agree with so go ahead well I mean I agree the measurements I mean 67 with without shoes is good but um the rest of them kind of left a little to be desired but um I mean you watch him in the combine scrimmage he just he kind of look like a a man playing with boys out there um and uh I don’t know I just once again the elite passing IQ is just something that I’m really high on and all these players uh that are rising of my board just seemed to have uh a really good passing acument and um I just I cuz I remember like he’s been in the last three draft Yeah classes and pulled out of the last two um and I I remember like just being like yeah he okay you know the last couple drafts and uh like yeah maybe maybe I could see him going in the second round or whatever and then I watched like some of his games recently and it’s just like he’s a completely uh like instead of just showing an occasional flash it’s like how he plays all the time now and yeah and uh so really impressed with some of his improvements and that’s also why um not to bring this back to my guys but like a guy like tajon Salon who shows those flashes but is still really young and raw like I I kind of see a little bit of that um in jusic where like a couple years ago I couldn’t imagine him being the player he is today but you know you get a couple years experience and uh definitely think he’s going to um I mean he might be one of those guys that we talk about like even if he goes late Lottery like how the heck did this guy fall to 14 or whatever ever 15 or 18 you know yeah um the yeah I agree with all that the couple of things that I think will hold it back from being a top five player in this class which we’re talking about him in a higher regard than he’s mocked in a lot of mock drafts right now right but we’re talking about risers and how high could a guy like that rise maybe he starts getting some Buzz for like 10th 11th 12th range right the the couple of things stopping him from being a top tier Prospect uh one he’s not the best three-point shooter 32 and a. half% last year like he can shoot but that’s not a strength if he was you know like ree this past year you’d probably be talking about him as a for sure Lottery guy uh he did turn over the ball a lot like his passing is really impressive but four assists per 36 3.8 turnovers that’s a lot of turnovers defense ly um he might not ever be a good NBA Defender he might always really struggle on that end I’m not sure you know the lack of wings span the lack of um you know not a guy that seems like somebody all coming and be a Lockdown Defender and then it’s just like a little bit with me like comparing him to a guy like Jaylen Tyson is I’m a little bit more confident in Jaylen Tyson’s ability to create separation um and how sharp he is with some of his moves where jurisich uh I’m not sure he’s going to be able to separate quite the same way he’s a decent athlete but uh I don’t know if he’s going to be able to create the same amount of Separation as guy like Tyson off the dribble so that’s why I have Tyson a little bit higher right now um but duris is just definitely a first round Prospect there’s no bones about that like he is he is certainly one of the more intriguing talents in this year’s class and uh I I moved him and doet up at the same time I think both those guys are very intriguing they’re a little bit different but um I like I like both of them definitely in the top 20 right now yeah and then let’s talk about fallers Eric is there anybody is there anybody falling on your big board is there anybody you’re looking at and having second thoughts about is there anybody you’re looking at and some more red flags are raised more questions about on your board um I don’t know if there’s anyone really falling a lot uh this is okay I have someone uh so this is someone who we should have just talked about on the Riser board because he’s getting some Buzz uh up higher in the draft but I I’ve kind of done a 180 on Castle oh no I know I know this is it going to make you happy no I hate hate what him and his agent are doing right now man I just I cannot stand it I I just think that mindset is weak and it’s um I don’t know man I I get trying to go to a team where you’re going to play and have the best opportunity to to succeed and be a starter or whatever ever but to like not work out for like half the teams in the top eight or whatever like I I just I don’t know man that’s it seems really weird to me I this time a few years ago we were talking about how Anthony Edwards wanted to be a football player and a rapper and didn’t even like basketball according to like some weird quotes from him right like I I don’t know Castle wants to be a point guard I can’t really blame for that like he thinks he’s a point guard so he wants to go somewhere where he’s allowed to play point guard um but I ultimately think it’s something where if a team drafts him and he’s not the point guard he’ll ultimately be fine um I I don’t think he goes into Charlotte with lamelo and like nobody goes into a situation like that nowadays where you’re drafted in the lottery and you demand a trade after you get drafted when was the last time somebody did that like he’s going to be happy to be in the NBA he’s going to be happy that he’s going to get paid you give him some ball handling duties maybe a little bit more ball handling duties than he got at yuk I think will be perfectly fine even if he’s not point guard so it’s it I don’t like that he’s not working out for other teams as well but ultimately that doesn’t for me detract from him as a player so that’s why I not knocking him down my board actually I’ve moved him up uh in the past couple of weeks yeah um I just cuz the first tweet that came out about this was that he sacrificed a lot to win at Yukon and was done sacrificing that he was going to do what’s best for him and that’s being a point guard um and to me that’s like the opposite of what he should be saying right now he should be saying I view myself as a point guard but I will do whatever it takes to win look at me as a freshman uh we won a title at Yukon I did whatever it took to win and I feel like I have more that I can show than that but he seemed to indicate that it was more that he didn’t want to do that he wants to be like the man or the star or whatever and I obviously he has the talent to potentially be that um I just and then to not work out for teams that have a point guard like if you’re really that good like wouldn’t you be able to to beat some of those guys out like yeah I mean I think for him it’s just ultimately having the opportunity to become that player in the league right and if you go somewhere where um you have an entrenched point guard like are you actually going to get the opportunity to maximize yourself as a player you know like it’s not the right thing to say um I don’t disagree with that like what you said would have been a better thing to say but ultimately when the dude in my opinion has a legitimate chance of being the best player from this class I don’t know it it’s hard for me to take that too much into account and I do think he has a little extra off the dribble than he was able to show and the fact that he was willing to embrace his role and the fact that he can defend and the fact that he can read the floor pass like all those traits is why I still really like him but like if I’m San Antonio right I going into this process I was like dude this guy is a winner that’s the type of player we want in our system like obviously we want to win sooner rather than later with wimy because we don’t want to have freaking First Take on ESPN talking about how we better win with wemy next year where he’s going to demand out or some crap like that like the national narrative seems to be right now um but like so I’m thinking man this guy would be a great pick we think you know he has maybe point guard skills to be our point guard of the future but as soon as he starts talking about kind of being more like into his numbers and wanting to get his and that kind of stuff I he say into his numbers he said he wanted to like show that he can put up numbers and stuff and not just be like a a role player not just be like a guy who sacrifices to win games and and so like I was like what the heck dude like why why would you say that like yeah I think yeah I don’t know ultimately he wants to be a star instead of a role player like he’s I think he’s a not wording it the best B it’s easy to like view this in the lens of like why the hell would you say this like you’re you’re selfish right but ultimately I think it’s more so he wants to be the best player he can be and that in his in his opinion and his agent’s opinion is him getting an opportunity to run a team um is what’s going to lead to that and that’s just what I’m trying to interpret it as because I do was that projecting cuz you like him like I don’t know like no I mean I give I give players a little bit of the benefit of the doubt regarding stuff like this ever since the Anthony Edwards thing because I did not give Anthony Edwards the benefit of the doubt I had him like I knocked him down from first to Fourth on my board because oh man this dude doesn’t seem like he loves basketball based on his comments like it wasn’t that far out there based on his comments right like yeah you didn’t move him down I did I did but ultimately like I’m just trying to get into the psychology of it because if he was that selfish he would not have willingly embraced the role that he played last year and now he’s like not embracing it but I think it’s more so he’s trying to do what he thinks is best for himself to maximize himself as a player yeah and ultimately his agent wants that too because his agent wants to get paid more he wants make more money yeah yeah yeah to me though I don’t know it’s like okay but you just won a championship doing it that way so now you’re saying that’s not the way you want to be like I I don’t know like I I know he might it’s tough cuz like like you said he wants to be a star or whatever that’s cool like and he probably is going to be one he’s freaking good but like I just to me like you saw the blueprint on how to be a champion and now you want to do something different it just to me that that would H it just irks me a little bit yeah no I I get it I get why it irks you the other reason why I give the Ben of the doubt he’s 19 yeah of course he’s 19 like I think the fact that he was able to buy in at the age of 19 as a teenager on that Yukon team was impressive like and part of the reason why I liked them and ultimately ultimately I just think you get him into a situation where you’re not like limiting him in terms of like you’re allowing him to run some pick and roll even if he’s the two or the three you’re allowing him to handle the ball a bit you’re allowing him to bring the ball up the court a bit like he’ll be fine he’ll get paid he’ll be the NBA um I still think he’ll bust his ass defensively CU he obviously takes a level of Pride on that end um maybe for Portland it’ll be a little tough because you have so many guards But ultimately like the I love him as a compliment to anony Simons and shanon sharp um because I think those guys could play off him I think all three can handle the ball in transition I think Castle would look good throwing lobs to either of those guys in transition setting them up has Shooters sharp you know we’ve talked about his cutting in previous years like he should be an elite elite cutter um and then the defensive compliment that castle is to those guys like I think he’s a great fit next to those guys on both ends of the floor um you know it’s just obviously with scoot here it’s like scoot’s a very on ball player so um you know how does he fit with those three guards it’s definitely a question mark but I just think he’s too talented given what you’d have on the board at seven to pass up if you’re Portland and I think like Charlotte at 6 they don’t really have another like guard ball handler uh Brandon Miller might take some more responsibility as like a creator for others next year but really it’s just lamelo ball and he gets injured a lot if he ends up in Charlotte which I love is a fit there I think he’ll have enough responsibility to be fine and I you know we’ll probably get to start some games at point guard considering lamala Ball’s injury issues so I just I just think ultimately it won’t be a big deal once he gets drafted even if he gets drafted to a team that has a point guard but maybe I’m wrong maybe maybe it is and then you know if it is then that’ll change my opinion on it because if you get drafted somewhere you’re there for four years like you you as a prospect you kind of just got to embrace and make the best out of your situation once you get drafted ultimately he’ll have his day to like be a free agent and go somewhere else if he wants to yeah well there’s two things one I don’t think he was good enough the times he was a league guard at Yukon and that’s not his I’m not saying that’s a negative thing it just wasn’t ready to be that yet this year and Tristan Newton was obviously more suited for that role being a lot older and just a little bit more composed than he he was as the season went on he did show a little bit of flashes but he also was really freaking good at cutting and that team overall was good at moving the ball and passing and finding him on those cuts and so like I liked seeing him up ball he was really good at it so like I don’t know if it’s necessarily the best position for him to be on the ball I we haven’t seen it enough yet to know but I liked him off ball like even though he he had trouble shooting a little bit um like he he was really smart off ball um but the thing is uh the other thing is Elizabeth all says part of it would be because one of the others or because one of the others high on the list would have been taken if he was still there at seven um oh that might be the wrong comment but um anyways uh he’s going to go to bad team most likely but here’s the deal if he goes to a bad team and is the point guard and they’re bad still for a couple years wouldn’t some people then say like well you’re not good because you’re the lead guard and you were better off when you were sacrificing a little bit of your overall skills like he might get that thing placed on him because of these comments and it will be unfair but like you’re kind of putting that on yourself like if you don’t succeed in the first couple years in that role it’s going to look even worse on you yeah but you can’t care about outside comets like right you know you got a whole career s like yes I do think that would and could happen but ultimately like outside noise you gotta flush that out you got to shut that out if you’re him and you know people say that without taking into context why his team might be bad which could be because of the rest of the team so ultimately like maybe he’s not well suited for that role but you’d have to see it play out and I think he just wants the opportunity to cuz to prove that he can play that role because he thinks he can but you know if he struggles people are going to be like oh this is what you wanted like yeah unfairly but like yeah I mean I mean I think he would make the case he wanted the opportunity to grow into a lead ball handler I think regarding your comments about cutting and all that I’m starting to really value the guys that can play both on and off the ball because if you’re going to have multiple good players in today’s NBA you want them to be able to play off of each other so you want good players to be able to play off castle and Castle good enough to be able to handle the ball make plays for them and then you want Castle to play off of them as well and Castle to be a guy who cuts when he doesn’t have the ball and it’s just ultimately going towards a little bit more positionist basketball where you have guys that can do multiple things and that they get the ball in their hands they can make something happen the ball’s not in their hands they can make the right cut make the right screen make the right play um fill the lane in transition uh you know catch the ball in the middle of the key after a trap and then zip the ball to the opposite corner just ultimately good basketball players is the simplest way to put it and that’s why I like castle and ultimately he’s never going to be guy that’s just like dominating the ball like Luca dominating the ball like Dame did he’s probably never going to be one those players I don’t think he expects to be one of those players I just think he wants the opportunity to grow into somebody that can ultimately be a shot Creator he wants that opportunity from the jump and he’s trying to force his way into that and yeah definitely isn’t the best look but I I don’t know I’m giving him the doubt that because I do think he’ll be one of those guys that can be good on and off the ball and defensively which is very intriguing here’s my problem with that you mentioned Charlotte right lamelo ball has had all kinds of injury issues right so he’s [Music] basically like taking that option off the table uh when you can play on and off ball because you talked about this on a previous stream where uh like if we had castle and he wanted to play point guard he still could have an opportunity to play some minutes there um and so like whenever lamelo’s not in the game he would be point guard whenever lamelo’s hurt which will definitely be some part of the season um he could be the point guard and then the times when he does play with Melo uh or lamelo it would be like you know 18 minutes a game he’s the point guard and then um you know the other 18 minutes he’s playing off ball so he can use both of those skill sets and develop both of those areas and I think that’s how we should be looking at it but to like be like no I’m not going to go there I’m not going to work out for them that that seems weird to me because like at minimum if you’re good enough to handle the ball a little bit you’re going to play at least part of the game at point guard right yeah yeah no I agree that he shouldn’t be unwilling to go work out for a place like Charlotte I understand it more if it’s a place like Portland where you have like three of those dud right so um even know Sharp’s not really a point uh he’s somebody that could be a ball and dominant guard in the future as hopefully a number one option so yeah uh ultimately I still just end up thinking he becomes a really really good player and is one of those High floor High upside guys and it’s it’s rare in this draft to get somebody that H is expected to be at least a role player and has potential yeah um you know like Jaylen Tyson in his range is the high floor High UPS guy that’s why I have him bumped up Stefon Castle same guy that’s why I have him bumped up like a guy like Reay I think is high floor but I don’t think has the same level of upside as a ston castle so that’s why I don’t have Reet as high as him um guys like Ron Holland I think have a little lower floor Matas melis has a little lower floor and I’m not sure those guys have more upside than him so yeah maybe I’m focusing on it too much but like I feel like if Castle plays the way he played at Yukon he’s got one of the highest floors in this draft if he’s strictly a point guard I don’t know that could be he I don’t think he could be a bust playing the way he played at Yukon but I think he could be a bust if he’s strictly a point guard and never really develops his shot like I mean I don’t think he stops doing the things he did at Yukon if he’s a point guard though like like he’s still going to have like the ball’s not always going to be in his hands even if he’s a point guard he’s going to have off ball opportunities like you know flow of an offense the ball’s going to end up in other guy’s hands he’s gonna cut right like he’s going to defend I don’t think he just stops doing that stuff because he’s point so I I don’t think his floor is lower if he’s a point guard well we’ve seen uh like M’s a good example of this uh Dame for years we talked about this for me talk about it uh when you’re the lead ball handler it’s really hard to have that same level of effort on defense that you can have when you’re not uh using a lot of energy those guys never had a motor like castle Yeah but like I mean mcale was all defensive team type of guy and this last year I was talking about Anton Dame yeah like M’s defense fell off being the number one option this year he’s not a point guard but like um I don’t know you see that a lot where that team was a joke I don’t know that’s true but I’m just saying like it’s it’s hard to be creating offense breaking people down off the dribble running pick and roll having to bring the ball up the court against pressure and then still have enough energy especially early on in your career yeah I just think they only expend that much energy when they are capable of doing a ton offensively yeah you know um so I think if it does get to that point then he’s probably a very good offensive player and maybe only okay defensively but is that really that bad of an outcome in this draft like and he could still end up being a two-way star like I don’t he’s good enough defensively and has a high enough motor that I think he could be a guy ultimately that does both um like I I have hope that he can be a little Drew holiday esque as a player like that’s that’s my hope for him um ultimately and that’s a championship level like third option which in this draft is really tough to get and like if if you know Jaylen Brown misses some time like I still think the Celtics would have a chance to win a championship because Drew holiday is that good on both ends of the floor um is just just perfect role player especially he’s even bigger than Drew holiday so that’s my hope I mean holiday is great defensively but he’s not the greatest in terms of pure point guard offensive skills so like I mean it’s a pretty good comparison but a year wasn’t there a year he like averaged eight assists a game like he used to be a little bit more I mean a lot yeah yeah like you have Anthony Davis no his last his last year in Philadelphia averaged eight assists game it’s kind of weird because it went from 4.5 assists per game to eight assists per game his last year in Philadelphia and then New Orleans was like six seven assists per game guy if Castle was in that range even if if it’s because he’s playing next to ad or whoever that’s still pretty good yeah still pretty good so anyway um I mean if it’s on the Spurs I think he outrages that easily yeah like and the thing is this the report there’s a report that came out after Castle said he only wanted to work out for teams that need a starting point guard there was a report that came out that San Antonio was enamored with him I forget the exact verbiage but basically it was that um I mean he well those also report that he could go number one was there really I didn’t see that report yeah I mean I he could easily end up being the best player from this class yeah but I mean is he not like would he not go to Washington because they have Jordan pool like I hope that’s not like the level of no I mean he’s there’s in the report it was he was willing to work out for in San an S and E or fourth sixth and seventh and nth I think yeah he wasn’t like he was willing to work out for Houston I guess because they don’t have a entrenched point but they do have some ball handlers like amen it’s kind of a point forward I don’t know I don’t know we’ll see who he works out for we’ll see at those workouts the interviews that he gets asked like yeah if he if he if it gets even worse Maybe I take that into account a little bit more um I’m just struggling with like I like buellis man and then I just watch some film on like his struggles and it’s like do I like him too much Ron Holland I see something come out about how like how bad his shooting was last year and it’s like man do I do I like him too much do I have too much faith in his ability to hopefully become a decent shooter and then Dillingham 61 one 65 like the defensive questions like am I do I like Dillingham too much I’ve gone over this with every Prospect and then SAR comes in and measures like a 9 foot2 standing reach I thought he was going to be like 9 foot6 9 foot7 like close to Donovan kinging range 9 foot2 it’s like man do I like SAR too much I’ve just had this struggle with with a number of prospects and then of course with the guys I’m lower on like ret like man do I not like ret enough I’m not gonna put ret top five okay um I don’t hate the thought of him at seven yeah well it sounds like he’s going one or two so we won’t have to yeah wor about that I just I my board is a mess for it being made I I’m very confident in what my top six to seven are right now and that’s ret at 7 I bumped him up seven um top itch at six buellis at five Holland at four Dillingham three Castle 2 SAR one I have Reed Shepard at eight I don’t think I’m going to bump Reed Shepard above any of those guys like I’m I’m very confident what my top seven is um wait where did you have M five okay I didn’t hear you say yeah I I kind of just flipped him in Castle I don’t know dude like I don’t know with BS man um I would like him with the Blazers pick I love his attitude he has some intriguing traits there’s just red flags with so many prospects I mean his wingspan wasn’t great either I think it was only 610 yeah yeah that was he measured a slightly smaller than I thought power forward I saw I saw some I saw some workouts uh some videos posted of him and he looked bouncy man he looked quick and he’s he looked like he had passing skills um here’s the thing with his ISM though he’s like open space athlete he he breaking people down off the dribble in these clips and like creating shots and getting by people and stuff like I don’t know yeah my worry with him though is like can he accelerate through a bump yeah can he have somebody on his hip where he has a step and they’re bumping him a little bit and can he leap the same way right because you know like there there’s certain guys that like in open space are phenomenal athletes but then you watch them in an NBA game and the athleticism just doesn’t show up in the same way Keon Johnson was one of those guys Pat conon was one of those guys remember Pat Conan’s vertical leap at the combine was like insane but you know there’s there’s guys that they can get bumped but like accelerate through it it doesn’t slow down their first step and there’s guys they’ll have somebody bumping them on their hip but they’ll still explode to the rim and those are the real athletes and that’s the thing with Matas is like he’s the open space athlete he has to get stronger if he gets stronger then maybe like that’ll translate more to the court um that’s just my thing with his athleticism athleticism is it’s not functional enough and he needs to get stronger just for like dealing with bumps on drives and being able to use his body um because 6’8 like you should be able to put a shoulder into someone move them a little bit get shots off on the interior and I think ultimately the best version of him is somebody that can drive use their body and just create angles without actually having to like fully beat somebody off the dribble but the athleticism part is like he’s a good athlete and you’ll see it with like some of his secondary Rim protection um like he can jump if he’s able to load up it’s just situations where he can’t load up or situations where he’s getting bumped can he still be a good athlete and there’s a lot of strength elements that go into that so hopefully he can become strong enough to be a a better functional athlete and then deliver contact on drives cuz then he’s very intriguing if you couple that with him hopefully being a decent three-point shooter then that’s the upside right and that’s what had me liking him at too because he can handle the ball on top of all that um I just it’s there it’s I don’t know a little theoretical for me like the the optimistic version of him and he the shooting off the dribble last year I forget what the stat was but he made one three off the dribble last year if he’s going to really reach his upside like I want him to be somebody that can knock down threes off the dribble a little bit and he just didn’t showcase that at all last year and I just don’t exactly know how to grade his shot um he’s more of just a spot shooter guy which if he’s not able to hit threes off the dribble and Defenders go off go under pick and rolls then his upside lower right so I just I wonder what we’d be saying about him if he went to college instead of the G league and he got to play with a shorter three-point line and against college players that weren’t quite as strong or I I think we’re maybe thinking about him a lot differently right now yeah it’s very possible and that’s why it’s like man I’m trying not to overthink him I have him at two he’s big and can handle the ball like um and moves decently well and should be an okay on ball defend and a good secondary rim protector uh but that’s what’s fascinating about this year’s draft everybody’s talking about how bad it is and this draft sucks like who cares everybody sucks there are so many case studies I feel like in this year’s class for certain types of prospects that just have a unique blend of uh upside or things that they do well with red flags on top of them and it’s going to be fascinating to look back as Elizabeth Allen says this draft class in four years is so much more interesting than the rookies in four years I’m really looking forward to looking back on this draft class not only because I’ve poured more time into this draft class but also just because of the blend of traits that these prospects have yeah I think with Bellis in particular so I think it’s a home run if we take him at seven cuz like if if he’s a bus that’s like not the end of the world you know or if he doesn’t improve those things but like um it seems like like right now rishe s some order one and two and then you hear Castle you hear Reed Shepard um you hear kingan as like top three guaranteed or something and so I mean it’s very likely velis then you hear you know his teams weren’t happy about his wingspan or whatever um um and so like you keep seeing like oh he might be there at seven I I just I don’t see how the Blazers can can pass on him if he’s on the board I think it’s just I think it’s a no-brainer at that point uh even if he I don’t know I just I think it’s worth the risk even if he doesn’t pan out I I won’t blame Joe if he’s a bust for taking him there I don’t know I think there’s 10 guys that could be gone by the seventh pick yeah I think there’s a small chance that Cody Williams has gone by the seventh pick because a team falls in love with his tape earlier in the season before his ankle injury and draft submit like five or six right and then Saloon yeah like he’s getting Buzz top eight but like I mean if you’re trit you can’t pick in the top four cuz you’re cursed like you might as well just take the wild upside swing especially because he’s showing some good traits lately I mean when you compare salon and buellis who’s the better shooter right now probably Salon who’s the bigger better athlete probably Salon who’s the better Defender probably go salon right so like with buellis it’s ball handling and um like creation feel maybe or sh but it’s just like kind of theoretical stuff yeah I saw have velis ahead of Salon just because he’s there’s just some the bad tape on Salon looks really bad and the good tape looks really good um so he’s just more raw for me so he has a steeper developmental curve ahead of him but I don’t think his upside isn’t his upside is definitely higher than bua for me yeah well I don’t know if bazelle if theoretical is the right word with him because he did show an ability to create and pass and stuff and and shoot mid-range off the dribble get to the basket a little bit uh he just didn’t make a lot shots so his shooting percentages on him look terrible um but like he did show he did show that theoretically he could do those things it’s just a matter of being able to like you said finish you contact and and do like make shots more consistently and things like that yeah it’s just like having the freedom to do those things in the NBA he has to make more shots yeah and also there’s just plays where it’s like the he has plays where it’s like man he’s really read the floor well like he’ll have a really good move like it seems like his feel is fine his feel is good his ability to read the defense is good but then he’ll have some plays where he’ll just get tunnel vision I I don’t know like it’s tough to talk about F MH cuz it’s kind of an arbitrary thing in the first place but yeah that’s a question mark for him but I think he will fall to seven I I just got feeling is buellis does not go top six um I forgot I was in the Discord I he does have a really good attitude like what you’re talking about with castle like he seems to be like really intense and want to compete against whoever is in the workout with him he’s calling out R and stuff and he’s calling out others at the comine and like I do like that mentality and maybe in workouts some teams are impressed by that y anyway oh uh one piece said Salon or and Matas for you at seven Eric uh I personally would take Salon over buellis I’m just trying to like think of it in terms of like what will actually happen but if they like salon and everyone thinks right now salon’s going eight to San Antonio uh like I don’t know maybe they they jump San Antonio and take him at seven I I don’t know I mean obviously I’d be happy with that but like I don’t I’m trying to not think in those terms I’m trying to think that bzel has always been rated higher you know idealistically Shephard goes you know top whatever top 10 somewhere topish she goes top 10 somewhere kingan goes like nine Blazers take salon at 7even and then trade up from 14 to 10 and take Cody Williams or buellis or Holland or whoever is left there mhm obviously that’s that’s like a big if like could they even trade up to 10 like Utah probably falls in love with one of those guys at 10 um but I mean Dalton connect might go nine to Memphis if clinging goes ahead of there so maybe you’re only needing to trade up to 11 right like I think there’s a chance for the Blazers to get Salon plus one of these top 10 guys in the past it was okay you take Salon with the Golden State pick 14 then you take one of them with a Blazer Zone pick but it might have to be in the inverse order where you take Salon 7 and then try and trade up a few spots like OKC did last year um to get a Cody Williams or whoever that might be why it’s good enough for or good for us if Devin Carter goes like top 10 or um if connect moves up or like one of these guys yeah the the Intriguing part about who’s 11 Eric is Chicago is there anybody that they want on our team for a future pick that future pick being our own and maybe moving up us moving up from 14 to 11 because they’re supposedly still trying to build around demard Roan yeah I don’t know maybe something to think about maybe something we can discuss on a future stream um potential trade ideas just something for you to think about chat as we wind down the stream um anything else you want to get into Eric no unless anyone has any last minute questions um I accidentally stayed in the in voice chat and Discord and then Jared joined and played on stream and he’s saying my bad no it’s not your bad it’s my bad I don’t know why I was still in the Discord uh voice chat that was my mistake you’re all good um doesn’t even have notifications on for us man we’ve fallen off in Jared’s eyes I guess no we lost Jared to Arc Man Arc we lost Jared to Arc we lost Brady to Arc we lost Gabe to Ark I haven’t talked to Gabe in like a month so yeah just you know Ark splits people apart th on Tyler Smith uh Fringe first round Prospect yeah decent shooter uh measurements were okay uh little underwhelming um I don’t I’m not a fan of him defensively or really anything outside of shooting um maybe some potential in some of those areas but um yeah I I don’t know like he’s he’s okay I think post like pick 20 to take a take a shot on but I’m I’m probably not taking him higher than that i’ probably be disappointed like if we took him at 14 he’s just I don’t know he’s a little boring to me like yeah no offense to him I just well seems kind of pass it too that doesn’t help yeah he’s just he’s like he can knock down threes he’s a stretch four that just doesn’t impress me anywhere else and just doesn’t like do anything off the dribble doesn’t I don’t know defensively seems like mediocre I just I don’t get the Intrigue with them um whatsoever but some people really like him he’ll be he’ll be one of those interesting guys to follow along to see if he actually pans out too MH anyway um we’ll be live again next Monday it’s only a two-day layoff over the weekend because today was a Friday um so we’ll take a look at maybe some mock drafts and where different mock drafts have guys going we’re going to talk about draft every day basically every stream um from now until draft day which is in a month which is crazy um and we’ll talk more about workouts when they happen that’ll be fun appreciate you guys 1. You’re back! Thank god. I was having to watch Locked On Blazers for Blazers content! Have you ever had to watch that show?? It’s awful.

  2. Bona at 40 is fine. I paraphrase what one of you said, how much of that scoring was coming muscling his way in, well isn't that part of the game? As long as they were not fouls, many players do this. But, saying that, I would rather have Hawking's at 40.

  3. I think the rule change is simple — don’t change what plays can be challenged, but for any play they do review they are allowed to make the right call no matter what it is

  4. I don’t think Scoot was snubbed. He shouldn’t have been ahead of Cason or TJD. They both played impactful minutes for winning teams. Of course Scoot shouldn’t be disqualified for being on a losing team, but just from watching him I don’t think he would have had any business being on the court for a team that was trying to win games. The award isn’t about upside or re-drafting, it’s about production. That’s why I don’t think it’s a meaningful award, but also why I think someone who was so bad for so much of the season shouldn’t be considered a snub. GG is the big question mark to me though
