Indiana Pacers – Tyrese Haliburton almost wins Game 1 – turnovers lose it to Celtics!

28 the P Pacers lose an overtime after being up three with the ball with about 10 seconds left that’s unbelievable to me but you know what instead of looking at the down obviously losing this game is a nightmare and the way they lost it a nightmare completely like halberton lost his mind neb har lost his mind n Smith lost his mind a lot of mind losing in this game but you know what you get four bites at this apple this bite didn’t work they didn’t get this one done they get another bite on what’s today today’s Tuesday so they get a bite on Thursday then you come home Saturday and Monday then you get another bite on Wednesday you win at home which your Pacers have done every single time they played going back to March 18th when they lost to the Cavaliers at gamebridge Fieldhouse that’s more than two months that’s 11 games that they’ve won all the playoff games that they played at gridge Fieldhouse all six of them W’s for the Pacers so this while this is horrible and if you watched you’re going to have a tough time sleeping for a little bit which is ridiculous I grant you but I’m in the same boat that’s the way it works this is a real regrettable loss but you get Thursday you get Wednesday and you get the following Sunday you get those chances to go win this series as long as you hold serve at home this is a different animal this is a different team the Celtics are than the bucks or the Knicks this team knows how to play a little bit of Defense they know how to put pressure on the ball and make a team uncomfortable and they made the Pacers uncomfortable tonight when the Pacers had them by the throat they found their way out of it and then put the Pacers in a headlock it’s like wrestling got almost pinned w oh flipped over and you’re pinned how the hell did that happen you wonder well you go back you look at the tape and you figure it out and you resolve to not allow that to happen again on Thursday night you resolve that you’re going to come out and beat their ass and that’s what you do you get angry about this thing and you get Plum Mad Dog mean just like the outlaw Josie Wales told his little band of Renegades his little band of cooks old granny got to get Plum Mad Dog mean and that’s the way it is this is a live post game brought to you by the great people at live at my bookie my bookie the promo code Kent you get up to one I told you what to do about this by the way up to $1,000 in a sign up bonus how about that nice bet anything anywhere anytime at my bookie I told you bet the over bet the Pacers team over and if you took the Pacers plus 10 and a half you cash there too that’s a nice little payday but that doesn’t really you know what that matters I guess you know what financially but emotionally it doesn’t help 133 128 uh seeing Jaylen Brown do what he did hitting that three that was goinging Drew holiday I told you man and Drew holiday can defend Drew holiday scored a little bit tonight 28 points Jason Tatum with 36 tonight Horford and white with 15 each really not much off the bench at all the Pacers you know what you you had three guys with 20 plus points uh Turner with 23 seak 24 halberton 25 halberton 6 of 14 from Beyond The Ark they play you know what here’s the thing and I’ll tell you it Randy says I blame Rick carile you can blame Rick carile Rick Carlile doesn’t like fouling up three and and I kind of don’t blame him I don’t especially a team that says is has the Ingenuity of the P of the Celtics and and can get to the offensive glass in the way that they do this was one one possession one of these turnovers and there were 21 of them five by n Smith six uh five by n Smith four by Turner three by toppen three by H Burton and it wasn’t really the 3 by halberton it was the quality of the 3 bytton my God come on possess the basketball you’re a super max point guard you cannot allow your dribble to be stripped ever ever ever that can’t happen I’ll tell you what this team does though this team doesn’t know what it can’t do and that’s something and sometimes it doesn’t know what it can do and that’s something too but this team doesn’t know what it can’t do it doesn’t know that it’s not supposed to win against a 64 win team on the road at their place in a game one they didn’t know that nobody told them they were supposed to lose this game and so they Damned year almost didn’t and they shouldn’t have they’ve got to make the right it it’s not this is what I was going to say it’s not about the positive plays you do make it’s about the negative plays you don’t make in a game that leads you to win bob Knight always said that it the team that makes a fewer mistakes Victory favors the team that makes a fewer mistakes and and the Pacers made mistakes mistake lack of poise toward the end and sometimes the only way to learn Poise at the end of games is to experience such severe disappointment that you resolve never to feel it again and and because of that you know how you got to grit up at the end of a game and play your ass off and play hard and finish games this is right there for the Pacers to take and they didn’t do it and that’s a shame and they may regret this for the rest of their lives they may never get over this this may be their only trip to the Eastern Conference Finals it’s been a long time since the Pacers played in the Eastern Conference Final a long time Randy also said so disappointment so disappointing we look good until the end and the end is when you win and lose basketball games in the Eastern Conference Finals and and what a shame that the Pacers lost this but again let’s it’s not optimism Wednesday quite yet but let’s understand that you do get four bites and at arresting home court advantage from your opponent this is one of those bites that man it was right in their mouth all they had to do is kind of chew and swallow they did not chew and they did not swallow they choked plain and simple I know it’s unpleasant I know nobody wants to hear that about the Pacers but did they look like a team over the course of that last 15 seconds of game play that had any idea how to win how to finish a game like that against an opponent like that they did not think of this as we think about reasons for optimism moving forward looking ahead to game two Pacers lost game one at Milwaukee lost game one at the Garden two so Pacers lose that’s the way it goes and that’s a shame because it was right there for him to win and and if this series winds up being close and this loss I mean you can’t you can’t kind of you can’t extrapolate to use a Doris thesaurus type word but you can’t really extrapolate that the series would remain static whatever is going to happen in Games 2 3 four five six and seven has been affected by how game one ended and the way these guys are going to feel going to bed tonight at their hotel and then going through the you know walk through tomorrow and then getting ready to play Thursday there’s going to be a different Pacers team Thursday night than it would have been had they won same thing with the Celtics would have been a different Celtics team on Thursday night ging loss just terrible this is how you learn not to lose though this is how you learn because it’s not enough to just win you got to not lose too and and and that game was the Pacers to not lose tonight and they did lose it and they shouldn’t have lost it and they’ve got to as a result of it you like think real hard about this and think real hard about where they are and the opportunity that those wins against the Bucks and the Knicks have presented here that they’ve got a shot to go to the NBA finals would be the second time in the 48 eighty year NBA history of the Indiana Pacers they could go to the NBA finals second time a chance legit chance to win it against either the t-wolves or the Mavericks I think the Pacers should be favored against either they got a chance to do that and and tonight they let it slip through their fingers breakfast with Kent early tomorrow morning man is that awful look it I mean my wife even you know Turner’s line looks good but my wife was like man you’re you’re just way too hard on Miles Turner way too hard on Miles Turner I said well how do how do you think of the way I treat Aon neith she said I can see it but then n Smith makes a play or Turner makes a play you just you’ve got to eliminate the mistakes if you play even close to a clean game tonight you win in a walk you destroy that Celtics team team this series is there for the Pacers to take if they’ll just do it winnings hard that that’s why there’s only one at the end of this whole thing there are 30 NBA teams one gets to be the champion it’s really hard to be a champion and the Pacers are learning that and part of that lesson came to him hard tonight we’ll talk to you tomorrow morning breakf breakfast at Kent Hey for those of you who have stayed up until now and you’re going to make breakfast with Kent at 6:40 got

  1. Those turnovers were a disaster. Gotta fix that. They did show they can play with the Celtics.

Help me understand the FT discrepancy. 28 FT for the Cs, 6 for the Pacers. Are you really telling me that is a fairly called game?

  2. That’s another team the Pacers have just got to put an a** whooping on to win. You can’t let it be close like that at the end, or the Refs will be empowered to swallow their whistle like they did tonight. Rick needs to take another one for the team and formally complain. He also needs to start thinking about playing TJ down the stretch. He’s the best ball handler on the court.

Losing Nesmith at the end hurt a lot as well, he’s critical. Also, the Celtics version of “defense” was pushing, shoving, grabbing, and throwing…last time I checked, those were fouls in the NBA.

  3. Brown shoved Siakam in the back out of bounds , and they never even called it. It should've been a foul on them and us having foul shots.

  4. One of the most gut wrenching losses I can remember. Inexcusable lack of execution at the end of regulation. Gave it away

  5. Yep, definitely choked on this bite of the apple. Sloppy sloppy play at times and down the stretch.

3x foul shot discrepancy does sound suspect though.

  6. I felt like they were relying too much on the 3. Felt like they needed to drive the paint more but hey we played hard

  7. I know it was a loss, but it's about as good a loss as it could be, because it was a war of attrition. The Pacers were never going to win in a battle of skill versus skill. Their path has always been to exhaust the Celtics, to drag them into the deep end, and then drown them. The Pacers are still the deeper team, the scrappier team, and the longer the series goes, the better their chances. Sure, I would've preferred a win, but I'll take a loss that hurt the Celtics more than the Pacers, and that's what we got tonight.

  8. why didn't Carlisle call timeout?, get the ball at half-court. Inexplicable. there were only 8.5 seconds to GO WITH A 3-POINT LEAD AND THE BALL??????

  9. Kent Sterling is a man on fire! Absolute dynamite. The message is clear. “You lost this game at the end. Own it. Accept it. You turned the ball over 21 times. You still stayed toe to toe with the 1 seed. They bleed. Let’s go kick their ass on Thursday!”

  10. You have to play perfect on the road. The officiating destroyed the Pacers again. What was the free throw discrepancy? Something like 30 – 10 in favor of the the Celtics. There were a lot of fouls left on the floor committed by the Celtics. Pascal Siakam gets pushed on the inbounds pass with 10 seconds left causing the ball to be tipped out of bounds. No way the Pacers can win this series.

  11. Haliburton said it best on Sunday……”Today was Game 7, unload the clip and have no regrets.” He went on to make the point of how he would feel over the summer knowing he didn’t get it done. Pacers need to go back to game 7 mode. Win or lose, but leave no doubt they play to win, not be afraid to lose.

  12. The irony of Boston being criticized for folding under pressure and living and dying by the 3, only to win in OT when they shot poorly from deep. There’s about 6 different ways the Boston can beat Indiana and who would’ve thought that the Celtics who “haven’t been battle tested” would react better to the moment

  13. I don't understand why Rick Carlisle doesn't like fouling to prevent the 3. That crap almost burned his ass once during the Bucks series and this time it did burn his ass. The goal is to be in control of your lead, make it as hard as possible for your opponent and win by any means necessary and THAT'S WHY YOU FOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Tyrese shot at the end of regulation and the overtime was SO unnecessary if they just fouled and made them earn it at the line. That's why to me, this is 100% on Rick.
