Damn, who knew winning the championship is what really matters most?

  2. dustinharm

It’s the NBA Finals that ultimately matters most. Thanks Magic.

Zach Lowe on TV is completely ESPNified. His TV persona is basically a Big Bang Theory style parody of a basketball nerd.

I miss him with Rachel Nichols on “The Jump”. That show was really good with Paul Pierce who I discovered by the grace of the YT algorithm, is currently rescuing Skip Bayless’ horrible Fox Show after he lost his previous partner Shannon Sharpe.

  4. It was diabolical how easy the 80s Lakers paths to the finals were

  5. Efficient_Art_1144

I don’t even know what argument these guys are having anymore other than they are mad at injuries and are taking it out on the Celtics

  6. JNerdGaming

i mean theyre the first seed so they should have an easy path to the finals, right?

  7. Baconmazing

The Suns path to the finals was pretty freaking easy.

*What I mean is , fans should know by now that it’s not the Celtics choice, and they are only playing what was given to them. Injury, matchups, etc. That’s not the Celtics choice. Them winning the championship maybe easier, but its not their fault if it is. Winning the championship is still the hardest thing to do within the context of that single season.

  8. LurkiLurkerson

We had over an hour between “Boston has the easiest finals run ever” posts. Is something wrong? Are you guys all okay?

  9. > So it’s what happens after this series that’s ultimately gonna matter the most.

What happens in the finals is ultimately what matters most?

Scorching hot take there from Zach ‘Magic Johnson’ Lowe.

  10. BitterAnimal5877

Fun fact: Even when you sweep the KD/Kyrie Nets, topple the defending champion Bucks, and best the #1 seed Heat in an extremely close 7 games…. “All that matters” is **still** what happens in the Finals. Nobody actually cares how hard the run is/was. A chip is a chip and a loss is a loss.

If you don’t like how this all works then we could easily do what soccer does and award the best team of the actual season champions but uhhhh… not sure yall would like that outcome either…

  11. PettifordGang

This undercutting every team in every sport is the dumbest evolution of hot takes.

  12. No_Pickle_8155

We are living in the greatest generation of haters.

  13. Tomahawk72

Celtics are losing tonight with this hot take. Just watch lol

  14. Easiest path to the Finals in modern NBA history? None of the Celtics opponents would have even made past the first round in the West. Nba should consider making  the playoffs 1-16 seed

  15. Son_of_Atreus

Well a redditor made that huge post the other about this about found the Celtics were in the top 5 but they not the top. Surprised that ESPN hasn’t stolen it yet.

  16. robetyarg

That’s fine, Boston has dealt with playoff injuries since 2018 lol

  17. QuickyQuail

I mean honestly who gives a shit in they got to the finals? They are probably getting there which is all that matters. Everyone else be hating

  18. 693275001

Why don’t the Celtics play better teams, are they stupid

  19. NoWayNotThisAgain

So wait. He’s saying that winning or losing the finals is what matters the most??

    Big if true…

  20. larrylegend1990

Every championship has an asterisk if you want to be an ass about it.

I like shitting on Boston sports as much as the next guy but they can only play the teams that are in front of them

  21. BigMik_PL

NBA analysts used to try to teach the public the game and how to evaluate basketball.

Nowadays all they study is Twitter and reddit posts and spew the same hot takes everyone else does to be “relatable” and give fans the fuel and fire to rage on in discussion and generate engagement.

Nobody gives a fuck about actually learning ball they just want a clip of a talking head saying the same shit they are saying to share with their friends to prove that they are right.

Can’t fault the business for giving people what they want. Nobody in this reddit shares actual basketball analysis videos either they rather watch Max Kellerman fart during his segment.

  22. It’s true but it also doesn’t matter at all. A championship is a championship.

  23. Dear_boat-bottle5476

Well, that’s what they earned by beating the tar out of so many teams in the regular season. You earn the right to seeding that generally is beneficial, you earn home court leverage, etc.

The fact so many other teams chose to do trades with the Celtics and let them build another overstacked team is the where any real problems lay. Go yell at those teams.

  24. daft_dunkwwwolfey

Why do east players keep getting injured are they stupid?

  25. 2020IsANightmare

I don’t fault the Celtics for anything.

Fuck, even if I could, I wouldn’t make all of my opposing teams good and healthy.

Like complaining your commute to your work destination was “too easy.” The fuck? Lol.

Give me perfect driving conditions. No traffic. My 10-20 favorite songs come on in order.

Easiest path I could think of. I’ll take it!!

  26. RollBlobRoll

If the injured NY Knicks were playing this series, he’d be saying how tested the Celtics are. These analysts are a bunch of bums

  27. firstbreathOOC

Even as a Knicks fan most of me believed the Celtics were always going to the finals. It’s the strongest iteration of this squad yet.

  28. It’s almost as if winning the one seed was a good idea!

    Such a weird take.

  29. LothCatPerson

Wouldn’t the Finals matter most anyway? It’s the Finals. Why would anything in the playoffs prior to the Finals matter more?

  30. rugbyman12367

They’ve definitely had an easy road to the finals but banners fly forever.

  31. AdmiralWackbar

If you really think about it there’s never been a legitimate playoff run in the history of professional sports
