Celtics vs. Pacers Game 3 FULL REACTION: Boston one win away from the NBA Finals | SportsCenter

look down two nothing they’ve come back from that before to win a best of seven they did it once in the history of the franchise last round against the Knicks but no Tyrese halberton out with the strained hamstring Andrew nard would have to step up and he was not alone Miles Turner the easy dunk Pascal cakam mid-range J this by the way after the Celtics got off to an incredible start offensively Indiana assisted on 20 of 28 made field goals in the first half after that three by n Hart Indiana led by nine OB toppen pullup jumper halberton like it looks like one I’m on the floor right Indiana up by 11 and then SE yakum in transition the Pacers led by 18 couple minutes later 15-point game nard drills the three and then this time around holiday all the way to the bucket the lead back up to 17 just before the half look at nard from the G and gamebridge Fieldhouse n hard had 17 in the second quarter most he scored in any quarter in his career Indiana led by 12 at the break early third SE yakum spin cycle again to put it up and in cakam was eight of 15 from the field for 20 points all the way to the cup nart again already a season High 23 Jason Tatum he was great early on kind of got going again in that third quarter he had 29 through three but the Celtics down nine after three 9 minutes to go Al Horford 17 years in the NBA hits that three to cut the lead to three Midway through the fourth nart again to put Indiana up by seven look at the creativity on that finish four and a half to go fourpoint Pacer lead you got the feeling it was going to be N hard’s Night 23 points eight assists three rebounds but oh look at Jaylen Brown all the way to throw it down nard Corner three Pacers led by seven Buck 45 to go holiday creates good ball movement Tatum the three he’s got it he was four of eight from three just over a minute to go Al Horford again he made a career-high 73 pointers in this game wow year 17 and he’s knocking down seven threes 4 seconds to play holiday all the way and one ties it for Boston he’d make the free throw giving the Celtics a 112 111 lead 30 seconds to go n hard mid-range he was making those all game who gets the rebound but Horford Celtics get it back 15 seconds to go Tatum no nard the other way but who makes the defensive play but Drew holiday he’s going to be a part of Team USA at the Olympics and that is one of the major reasons why Rick Carlile elects not to call timeout holiday picks n hard’s pocket so three-point game one point seven to go it’s like a Crossing pattern like Anthony Richardson to Michael Pitman it’s a great look by Aaron neith that would have tied it instead Jason Tatum and the Celtics win here’s Lisa suters it was Drew steel that really kind of sealed the game just what were you thinking when you saw it in real time man that’s I’m glad we got him uh Jew is a hell of a competitor obviously he’s won a championship uh and you know he was feeling sick this morning right he wasn’t even able to come to shoot around so for him to come out here and put it all on the line for us and come up with a big play to to win the game uh you know we got a hell of a team you guys were down 18 in the third quarter just how were you able to turn things around uh no lead is safe in the NBA no more you know it’s a lot of time left in the game uh and you got to believe right we always believe we got a chance to win the game uh and it’s not going to come back in one one shot one possession you got to keep fighting Describe the impact that Al Horford had with his seven points he was he was big time for us uh whatever he does whether it’s just his his leadership his presence hitting shots protecting the real U you know he’s a guy that keeps us all together commanding 30 lead now how do he close this thing out on Monday uh just knowing close out games are the hardest been in a quite a few of them in my career uh you know and last year right we was down 03 and we we forced the game seven so just never relax it’s not over till it’s over by the way gutty performance by our teammate Lisa Salter there as well and as has been the case over the years history is on the Celtics side you’ve heard it before no team has ever lost the playoff series in the NBA after taking a 3-oh lead teams are4 and0 the Celtics themselves are 17-0 in that situation zoom in game four Monday 8 Eastern ESPN oh I mean we had him at 38 minutes switches probably less but um I mean I didn’t really manage him that much I I kind of trust him uh you know he’s always ready to play uh I kind of had I knew he was going to play just because I have faith and trust in him and um I thought he just played a really good game that’s the that’s a trademark steal that he always gets with the inside hand uh he gets that a lot usually when the GU coming down the sideline but he got it in transition so I’ve been looking forward to a couple of those he hasn’t gotten as many as I would like a new gotten this year so but uh he made a big time play so proud of our guys and how they competed from start to finish um and uh you know this our thing all year has been just compete level and bring everything you can and and all that and uh and they did um there were a lot of things out there that I disagreed with that you know I think any Indiana fan would disagree with but we’re going to be undeterred we’re going to be back here Monday night looking to extend the series and uh we’re going to come at him even harder you know we have to we have to we don’t have a choice Rick you’re up eight with about two and a half minutes to go in this game what I just watched the ending so you don’t need to remind me I saw everything that happened everything what to you was the difference in that everything everything that happened yeah anybody else sure I guess just beyond just the last few minutes I mean what uh what did you see just changeed for you guys offensively uh between the first half the second you guys obviously were hitting a ton of shots in the first what we have guys you know we have a lot of guys stepping up into bigger minutes in Tyrese’s absence and so um you know we slowed down a little bit down the stretch and you know that’s that’s a time of game where where we’re set where the way we’re set up right now we’ve got to keep we’ve got to keep Tempo in the game so you know that’s something that we got to do and and um yeah we missed some shots and there was some plays where they could have gone a different way you know I just the best I can say it you know um you know just very disappointed you know just very disappointed but uh but the guys I mean this group the way they’re battling you know and we’re going to we’re going to come at these guys harder on Monday all right and our fans our fans need to come out and they get they need to be louder than they’ve ever been and we’ve got to extend this series and we got to get back on that plane for game five I mean that’s that’s what we got to do Rick just that’s some immediate shortterm Focus got to take game four Monday to extend their season it was a tale of two halves 14 points nine rebounds three big Steals and one big postgame interview on Sports Center Celtics star Drew holiday joins us now Drew we were told in the pregame uh sick game time decision what was it like playing in this game tonight um it was fun it was fun uh I think this crowd is crazy you know um obviously the Pacers haven’t lost here yet so we knew that they were going to come out with a lot of energy but um I think from just the beginning of the game the energy was high and uh we knew we had to get a win you yourself what was it like playing under those conditions it was fun it was fun um even though you’re under the weather sometimes you got to do what you got to do uh no matter what it takes and I know for me I mean this is game three of the E Conference Finals and um I’m just blessed to be here I feel blessed to be here and wanted to take advantage of that so I I definitely wasn’t going to sit out this game yeah and and take advantage you did let’s go to about a minute to go the driving layup and one walk us through that play what happened you no um I think we got seak either on a switch or he was under and I I think I just saw him on his heels and from there really just tried to get to the basket and make a layup and at that point he reached in and and you know I got the n one and we’re seeing the the the layup go in and you make the free throw and you don’t give up the lead and then drew the defensive play Jason misses the layup at one end Indiana comes the other way they don’t call timeout and Andrew n hard’s attacking the basket take us through this one he was being aggressive uh obviously he’s he had a great game today um very very aggressive shooting the ball well and uh honestly I just made a play I just made a play um I I feel like he’s a rightand driver so I jumped on that side and and made a play and got a Ste Indiana LED this game by 18 points Drew in the third quarter they shot better than 60% from the field in the first half what changed in the second half you know I just feel like uh it was a team effort man uh we had to walk him down again playing in this playing in this Arena was good for us as a team uh hostile environment being down 18 going into the fourth um it really just felt like we needed to uh buckle down as a team and that’s what we did yeah I guess buckle down as a team and then find the guy that’s been doing it in the NBA for 18 years your teammate Al Horford Drew he makes seven three-pointers tonight a career performance how do you describe the way your team made Al Horford played man he’s amazing um I don’t think he gets the credit that he deserves uh he does so much for us if it’s offensively or defensively we ask him to do so much and he ex he exceeds at everything he does so um I mean obviously we’re playing for a team I feel like everybody’s playing for him but the way that he plays man I love him as a teammate Drew you’re a champion um you’ve been a consistent and dynamic player in the league for for a long time now and and you’ve recently been selected to Team USA you’ll represent the US in the Olympics why are you such a valuable and valued player I don’t know uh hopefully hopefully I play the play the game the right way um hopefully I make my teammates better um I feel like I don’t necessarily need to score I can do other things like defense and pass and rebound to to make a team better so uh maybe that’s a part of the reason I think it’s all the above and playing tough under less than ideal conditions tonight you’re a win away from the NBA Finals Drew Holiday Good Health get well and thanks so much for the time tonight thank you thanks for having me for us my whole thing was like let’s just you know let’s just keep playing let’s just keep playing let’s stay with it um I feel like Joe was trying to do everything and anything that he could to kind of get us going and it was hard um and it’s hard to win on the road uh once we embrace the fact that we were down double digits on the road in a in a game three against Indiana I thought it was pretty fun uh and so I loved just the the approach that we took I love the mindset that we had I thought we executed well on both ends of the floor uh and uh you know we made the plays that were necessary to win and you know that’s how games are going to go um so you have to be able to win in different ways you have to be able to get through certain stuff and I thought our guys did a great job getting through it and they now find themselves in a 3 nothing lead in the Eastern Conference Finals and you’ve heard of before no team has ever lost the playoff series when leading three zip 154 and0 the Celtics responsible for 17 of those wins Pascal cakam now on letting one get away um I thought they yeah we did a good job in the first half second half um not as much um and and yeah like they they made runs and and weren’t able to just kind of like come back and and and have that same intensity we had a couple of turnovers um and um yeah like against a team like that you know like no lead is safe so we got to we got to play well till the end Jason you guys are obviously sort of trying to dig out of a hole for a lot of that game what allowed you guys to flip the game around the way you did over the final couple minutes yeah I think uh you know it was one of those time outs in the third quarter uh you know Joe just kind of told us stop feeling sorry for ourselves um and you know whatever situation we in you know that’s the situation that we’re in and uh I’m so us to to figure it out uh you know we kind of felt lucky that you know we were playing as you know as bad first day as we were and how well they were shooting the ball and we were only down you know 13 14 points on the road and we still had a lot of a lot of time left to win a game uh so you know one of those timeouts maybe like 5 minutes left in the third uh you know we kind of turned it around and then uh obviously was quite the pass like 45 seconds to go to hit out in that in the corner on that three sort of what what did you see on that play as it played out and you know how much is your confidence grown as a playmaker to actually to make a play like that in a moment like that yeah uh you know I dho I attacked downhill had topping with me uh and and Miles Turner I knew miles was guarding Al um and you know just re we always talk about spacing making sure we in the right spots uh and you know I trusted that he was going to be there he trusted that I would make the right read and um that was a hell of a shot that he made scary Jason why didn’t you guys kind of relent I mean it you guys could have easily just said okay let’s get ready for game four and you guys just kept trying even though you guys had so many chances in the fourth quarter with Miss threes to kind of chip away and it just seemed like you guys were just refused to kind of give up or you know what what put that in you uh I mean we believe we we believe there we still could win this game there was a lot of time left um you know it’s damn sure not time to to to to give up um or even you know have that thought creep into your mind we that never we never thought that and any time out there we had any guy that was on their Court uh you know we knew that we could play better and if we did play better we would give oursel a chance uh and that was just the mindset throughout the game Trustin Jason Drew questionable coming into tonight makes the big play at the end there just what about his performance and his ability to show up and make plays like that um uh I mean can’t speak highly enough about Drew right uh the ultimate teammate competitor obviously a champion and you know wasn’t that shoot around today he was sick dealing with um chills and stuff like that and you know we’ve all been there how tough that is to to fight through it and uh you know for him to come out there and lay it all on the line for us and you know make the game winning play essentially especially on the defensive end uh you know Drew is just a big time player and he he made a tremendous play great compliment from a great player Jason Tatum now 28 playoff games with at least 30 points wow the only Celtics with more Larry Bird and John havic and Tatum is quickly approaching he’s done it four times already in these post season games [Music] 1. Let’s go Boston baby 💪🏿💪🏿. Funny thing is if we had lost omg. Tatum choke blah blah blah. It’s a team sport folks not one player.

  2. Al was so good against Embiid that they paid him $100m over 4 just to bench him. We get him back through OKC because he was apparently "Old" and its like he never left.

  3. Rick Carlisle once again complaining about the officiating? Is that why you guys blew a 20pt lead?

  4. Milwaukee never should’ve let Jrue Holiday leave. He‘s a solid defensive player that is also capable for knocking down 3-pointers.

  5. Obi toppin should get cut ngl he sold the game with 4 straight misses in crucial minutes

  6. Halitosis is gonna have to suit up with a blown hammy…they should dress in lime green in game 4. Nothing says loser like a lime green Pacer.

  7. Pretty dang amazing considering the Celtics should probably be down 2-1. They are finding ways to win and that's what champions do.
