Chris Paul Linked To Spurs

Chris Paul Linked To Spurs

I want some n are we having fun yet um Spurs you you don’t have to do this we we don’t have to do this uh Chris Chris Paul CP3 CP3 he’s linked to Lakers Spurs this summer um huh all right let let’s just let’s just take a look I actually first saw this on Twitter where did I see this yeah this is where I first saw it this this is where I first saw it from uh uh from the Stein line I don’t know Chris Paul is rumored for the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs if he becomes a free agent in free agency which he is he is that uh these two teams would be the favorites to acquire his Services his longstanding friendship with LeBron James in addition to his desire to stay in Los Angeles would be decisive points for a possible move to the Lakers on the other hand the Texans are looking for a veteran point guard on the market according to multiple sources Paul fits the description uh and just looking at this article here they say the Spurs and Lakers keep coming up as potential suitors for the Warriors Chris Paul if Paul becomes a free agent all right um no okay all right I don’t I don’t even know where to start um Chris Paul as a player has definitely taken a step back okay he’s his age has definitely caught up with them but with that being said he’s still a phenomenal passer he still averages what like seven assists per game let’s see yeah he still averages seven assists per game um you know the two assists drop off from you know the season prior so he he’s still capable as far as his three-point shooting is still up there 37% from three uh 44% field goal percentage so you know not not the best but just just overall he he still can go like jump on a roster and and be fine I just don’t necessarily know now we know for a fact uh his salary is not going to be crazy so I’m not necessarily worried about the Spurs spending a ton of money on Chris Paul I don’t think that that’ll be the case um you know for his sake and him wanting to try to get a championship I would rather Chris Paul try to go to the Lakers I mean I don’t think they’ll be good enough but you know do whatever you can but as far as him coming to the Spurs I I know this is cliche I’m just not crazy about him taking any minutes away from right now Blake Wesley I think that’s one player that we still want to at least give him another season and and see what you get out of of him um also with the rumors of the Spurs going after Darius Garland them being interested in Dillingham I just don’t necessarily see where Chris Paul would fit I mean even the Trey young stuff I I just don’t I just don’t see it um but it’s not impossible it’s not something where if it happened I will be super angry or super upset I I think it’ll be fine um I just don’t I just don’t know if it’s necessary uh and and not to mention and Trey Jones is already a perfect backup uh point guard right now I I can he pass as well as Chris Paul heck no okay he’s he’s not on Chris Paul’s level but he’s a suitable backup and that’s what we’ll be using Chris Paul for and I just think it’s a waste of his time a waste of our time and I don’t think that Chris Paul is going to add that much to um a upcoming you know point guard that we get on the team just I I just I just don’t think so I just don’t think so uh especially with this point in his uh career and I guess what makes me the most skeptical and I I guess that’s the word and I say pessimistic let just be honest I’m being pretty pessimistic I guess what makes me the most pessimistic about the Chris Paul uh potential is the fact that Chris Paul went to a perfect situation in my in my honest uh uh opinion going to the Golden State Warriors was a really good situation for him and there were many of times that it just didn’t look that great right it it just it’s ah I don’t know I I really want to know I’m I’m going to leave it to you guys because this is one of those situations where I’m pessimistic towards it I don’t really see it I don’t get a point in doing this um and it’s not a matter of let let me say let me get this out of the way okay because I know a lot of people are going to say no just from the Merit of not liking Chris Paul because Everybody Hates Chris Paul obviously Everyone Hates Chris Paul but I do think that Chris Paul will be fine with the Spurs and he’s been on records saying that he’s wanted to play for papovich before and I mean maybe it’ll be a fun way to end off his career playing with wimy I I just don’t think we I don’t think we have time for it I think that what we need right now is you know some young players you know learning doing what they can do and I don’t really want to get rid of Blake Wesley or take away you know Trey Jones minutes you know for you know Chris Paul to to be on the squad you know I don’t think it’s necessary and we already have Tony Parker in our ear you know as far as some guidance if Chris Paul isn’t going to play I know it’s different you know he’s going to the practices he’s on the road he’s talking to you in the middle of games I know it’s a big difference between then and Tony um but I I just I personally don’t think it’s worth it I think that you’re trying to build a team right now and you know this will be one of those acquisition or or or uh pickups where it’s like okay you know you’re you’re ready to uh start winning and this is a rotational player you you plug in and he knows how to win he knows what to do what he needs to do um for your team to be successful but I I don’t think the Spurs need that right now um but you guys let me know what you think okay you you let me know what you think um I’m not one that Hates Chris Paul I know everyone hates him uh when we go against him I don’t really like him but uh there’s no doubt in my mind that he would enjoy playing for papovich and papovich would be a great towards him it’s it’s just one of those things man I’m just a little pessimistic so I I just want to know what you guys think about it so anyways I’ll give it to you later uh big shout out to bet us actually big shout out to bet us for sponsoring this video I’m I’m so upset I’m so upset I could barely be 1. Spurs fans are quick to say no.

If we draft Stephon Castle or Nikola Topic

Imagine the playmaking mentorship Paul could teach them. Not to mention his on ball defense Mentorship he could teach both.

  2. I don't know if we have any positions in player development or assistant coach? But CP3's playing days are over 😂

  3. I guess if you trade a young point guard, it could make sense. Paul could help the young guys develop while helping the team right now.

  4. CP3 is someone I've been saying would be PERFECT for Wemby's development… Everywhere he goes, he makes the young stars actually become better and not simply dependent on him passing them the ball… And he doesn't dominate the ball, can shoot, hardly ever turns it over and has elite playmaking

  5. The warriors were actually the worst fit… Both he and Steph are PGs, and the warriors' system centers around Draymond doing a significant amount of the playmaking while others cut… CP3 is a good spot up shooter, but he has never been a good cutter… So he simply didn't fit

  6. OKC would NOT have become as good as they are without CP3 instilling in them (especially Shai) certain things… Ppl are too caught up with numbers and not impact…

  7. I would take him for the minimum or maybe the mle, he would bring veteran leadership to the team which the spurs desperately need and he wouldn't ignore Wemby on offense. 😂 I don't see it happening though, I think Paul would prefer playing for the lakers instead of the spurs.

  8. You don't sign a player like Chris Paul at this point in his career SOLELY for his productivity. He'd be an amazing vet for one of the youngest teams in the league, ESPECIALLY for the guards in the locker room. Player-coaches that help your team get better at practice are invaluable. Miami had Udonis Haslem on their payroll as a player for this same reason. Experience matters.

  9. Chris Paul, despite how much he annoys me, elevates the play of all those around him. He is a winner, he just has BAD LUCK

  10. I wanted them to get him last year, but then GSW gave up way more to get him than I thought they should. At a reasonable price he's a great mentor. Think about the effect he had on OKC. He'll be somewhat useful as a player as well, but he'll inevitably get injured. But it will buy time to get a permanent point guard and really give Wemby someone to develop as a vertical threat. I like it as a pick up still (at the right price)

  11. Yall are dead wrong. You don't understand what he is. Cp3 has always been great for young teams. Clippers, suns, thunder, and hornets were all considered young, yet overachieved and had many other players break out under cp3s mentorship. We need his presence.

  12. We can get him veterans min. To help out new pg in the draft. No big role at all $1 mil a yr that’s it!!!🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️

  13. god bro why are nba fans so dumb, its like people dont even think when they comment, "he'd be horrible for us, hes 39 he's not doing anything to put us in the playoffs" YEAH of fucking course, hes 39 years old cp3 he would be here MAX FOR A YEAR OR 2 TO HELP US TEACH OUR YOUNG GUARDS HOW TO BE BETTER, He mentored shai when he was younger just before he got to the suns, and helped him develop into the star he is now, even made devin booker more comfortable to play pg because he taught him while he was there, every younger guard got better being around him dude is the perfect vet to lead/develop this teams new guard and tre jones he was a solid/amazing small defender in his prime and passes like nobodys business if there is ANYONE who can teach a young pg good pg skills its CP3.

  14. I think Chris Paul could be a starter for one season, while whoever we draft develops behind him. Tre could be a combo guard or just be in the third string. Don’t really care what happens to him, players like him are a dime a dozen in the nba

  15. If you buy into the belief that CP3 tutored SGA and he took a leap afterwards, then it makes a lot of sense as we grab one or two new playmakers

  16. at this point im fine with getting an old PG for this year until we draft a young PG like nolan next year

  17. Cp3 makes sense with a drafted guard he can take under his wing. He’s a 15-20 min a night player probably get you 10pts 5a per night

  18. he s there for developing player only, i dont care about blake wesley he gonna be nun lol, unless he somehow magically become a good offensive player

  19. The only thing good about Chris Paul, would be his coaching and veteran leadership, which may be a good enough reason.

  20. I wouldnt want CP3 but dawg… That Warriors situation was not good 😂 he was far from the reason why it didnt look good too. Its easy to just look at counting stats and go oh 2 less assists per game!! Like yea he saw a decrease in minutes, he came off the bench, and he was injured most of the season. So obviously his stats are going to be down. Again I agree I would prefer not to get him but I just think a few of your talking points were extremely surface level

  21. Ive liked the cp3 idea for a while now, not to have him as a pg, but as a mentor to our young players. Cp3 is historically good with centers, so imagine how he could mentor wemby, and not to mention any young pgs we got

  22. I think the Lakers would make way more sense than the spurs. No disrespect but what would CP3 do for the spurs aside take away assets and valuable minutes from young up and coming players. It's not like we are one player away from winning a ring or anything 😂.

  23. I actually think CP3 would be great in the long term for multiple reasons

    1) he’s proven to work great with developing players in both OKC, Phoenix and Golden State. His mentality is a perfect match to Wemby and also would push him to greater heights

    2) he still is a great defender, and could be a solid anchor for drawing in other free agents to play along side Wemby

    3) Spurs fans have to start considering life after Pop. He’s in his late 70s now. I would say at best you have 3-4 years left with Pop as coach. As long as he stays healthy Wemby will outlast that. CP3 would be a great fit as head coach after Pop leaves (by grace of God on his own terms)

  24. oh god, no. was The Mummy not available or something? The Spurs are already starting to run out of room for all of the new players they're getting in the draft this year and next year, we can't be burning a roster spot on a guy that's going to be 40 years old this next season.
