    The superstars on a team (if you have one) seem to get away with at least one thing nobody else would. Haliburton travels all the time, for example. I absolutely hate it and wish it were called straight, but it is what it is.

    That’s why if people say the NBA doesn’t manipulate games they’re lying. Not everyone plays by the same rules. IMO more of a star thing than any other type of bias though. I’ve been putting a lot of thought into it after the whole “large market bias” conversation. Since Magic/Bird, and ramped up to unthinkable levels with Jordan, the NBA has decided to choose a couple of guys to be the “face of the NBA.” They tend to get away with murder.

    Those people have historically also mostly been on big market teams, which is where I think a big part of that big/small narrative comes from. Especially in the era of the internet and league pass, I can see that changing. A bit of a tangent, but I think that’s why.

    Tatum is 10x worse than Jalen in this area. But it’s close.
