was on the NBA Finals alt cast on TNT and the guys on there grilled him about LeBron james’ status as a free agent and what could happen in the coming months let’s take a listen look LeBron’s a free agent you have to decide and and and I got to focus on his business and he should be focused on his business and let the Lakers hire whoever they want to hire and he’s always he’s always showed up and played for whatever coach is there you know um but yeah I hear you bman and again I’m not you know there’s no need to try to drive a specific narrative or try to dodge anything it is what it is I think he’s earned the right to have input if he wanted that obviously but it’s just not the case hold B’s gonna come hold hold hold on real quick you you just said something rich you said LeBron’s a free agent so I take it LeBron’s going to decline that player option Chris you know I do my business over the I just heard I just heard what you said I don’t know what he’s going to do we going to do what we do every year we going to we’re going to evaluate the situation and we’re going to make the best decision I love how he tried to gloss over the part that he said LeBron is a free agent myON at the beginning of that like nobody was going to question him and say wait a second you’re saying he’s going to opt out of his current deal which doesn’t mean he won’t resign with the Los Angeles Lakers eventually but he just tried to sneak that part in and then sneak away and be like look I don’t do you guys know I don’t do my business in the media yet you put that out there this to me like we talked about with the Cleveland appearance earlier in the postseason like we’ve talked about with Le bronny James and the combine and all of the rhetoric that’s coming out there about how great he performed and what that could mean for his draft stock this is all leverage it’s a leverage play for LeBron James and it all all signs all roads point back to him one way or another with the Los Angeles Lakers yeah it’s going to be interesting to see what happens I mean I think there will be more smoked and fire with a comes to LeBron James and what happens this summer because I do think he’ll end up with the Lakers there’s no easy place for him to land where he can compete for a championship I know I’ve heard New York Nicks stuff and you’ve heard some of these other teams the Suns and things like that like a lot of this doesn’t make Financial sense and if you’re LeBron his life is so much bigger than basketball now Courtney like La is a spot for him that goes Way Beyond what he does on the basketball court now does the bronny James thing factor into what he decides to do who knows but I think he ends up back with the Los Angeles Lakers I think he’s comfortable there and I also think if he ends up on another team and they’re ready to win a championship and he competes for a championship or wins one what does that mean for his legacy you know like you just hop to a team that’s ready to win and you get another ring I don’t think he wants to do that I think he’ll stay exactly where he is what we also know right now and what Rich Paul had alluded to there is that he’ll play for whoever the coach is the Lakers Lakers currently don’t have a head coach they’re one of their Front Runners for that job reportedly is JJ reck who’s currently on ESPN’s broadcast of the Eastern Conference Finals so maybe they’re waiting for that to wrap up in order to name him their head coach maybe it’ll be somebody else but the finances here that you point out myON um you know either way LeBron James will end up being fine because he opts in he can sign a Max two-year extension with the Lakers that’s the one that’s worth 164 over the three years no team can offer LeBron James more than three years because of that over 38 rule but if he opts out and becomes a free agent is able to test the waters and see where he wants to go I mean the Lakers are still the team that can offer him the most here on that max deal which would be 162 over three years Philadelphia another name that we’ve heard thrown into the mix whether it’s the New York Knicks whether it’s Dallas I mean there has been they’ve had some luck with an aging Superstar star winning a championship down there them being a Darkhorse option Philly could be interested in there in him there it’s 157 157 million over three years I just feel like we’re doing the dog and pony show only for this to end up the way that we expected it to end up the the way we expected it to end up all along where he ends up staying in Los Angeles his life is in Los Angeles which again is so much bigger than basketball he’s closer to retirement than you know the beginning of his career by every stretch and why would you want to move away where you’re moving away from everything just to go win a CH just to go try to win a championship at the end of your career move away from what’s comfortable move off of a place that has done everything in these short-term mortgaging roster decisions that the Lakers have done and kind of caving to his commands like what other team is going to go guarantee a draft spot for bronny James who had did not have a great college career only played one year USC and that’s not really to any fault of him it’s just these expectations that LeBron wants to play with his son have up the ATI and expedited the timeline here all of that can happen with the Los Angeles Lakers I just don’t know like Leverage playwise like if this is news that is being leaked and put out there in a calculated manner why because like what is he not happy about with the Lakers are they telling him he’s not going to do that because every indication we’ve gotten and it’ll be good when we can ask she thinks as well is this family ready to make a move after everything they’ve achieved in La it’s so much bigger than what happens on the basketball court I think he stays in LA and spends more time Birmingham Southern is going to the confer they’re going to the College World Series at the D3 level and they’ll be playing for a school that no longer exists so this all happened on Saturday like the details of the story are like they get weirder and weirder as you read them so Birmingham Southern College in the state of Alabama Advanced to the D3 World Series first time they will be doing that
