Lakers GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TRADE Coming with the Nets? | Mikal Bridges or Cam Johnson to the Lakers?

[Music] welcome back everyone every year a middle of the pack team finally decides to blow it up and while there are a number of them that probably should with arguably the biggest one being the Brooklyn Nets after quote unquote trying to compete with a veteran team this season they failed to even crack the playing tournament finishing with a 32 and 50 record along with being the 11 seed yikes and after taking the value of many of their veteran players a majority of which at one time would have landed them a first round draft pick each if not a little bit more they finally appear to be facing reality with that being the inevitable outcome that they blow it up simply put you cannot build a championship team around male Bridges don’t get me wrong he ended up being a whole lot better than many thought he would as number one option but it’s still not a winning formula and with trading him being their best pathway of starting a rebuild many believe that they’ll finally do it not only that though but team owner Joe Sai came out and talked about the future which apparently includes them revamping their roster Al taking a longer term approach to building a sustainable winner like the hinting at a rebuild and I’ll let you hear about what he had to say um the Brooklyn Nets is at a a Crossroads in a way uh I think we are uh we didn’t do as well as we expected last season uh we didn’t make the playoffs but we hope to uh revent the team and uh make sure that we can compete in the long run I think there’s a difference when people ask uh owners what do you want to do with a basketball team there’s a difference between I want to win versus I want to build a winning mentality and culture that’s sustainable uh those two are very different things you can’t if you want to be just win now you could ruin your future by trading away all of your assets and uh just win now but I think what I wanted to do is uh with the Brooklyn Nets is to take a longer term approach and build a winning sustainable winning culture I know that might mean anything with a guy like Joe Sai but I think this finally does mean they’re entering a rebuild and with that in mind could this be the golden opportunity the Lakers have been waiting for they have been looking for a new third option to pair with LeBron and Anthony Davis after all and a guy like Mel Bridges would fit that though would it actually be a possibility we’ll talk about that along with what other opportunities come from the Brooklyn Nets blowing their team up and without further Ado let’s dive right into it I think the first thing we need to talk about though is M Bridges he would probably as ly be the prize here after all and one that pretty much every contending team should have interest in in the modern NBA the 3& wing has become the most valuable kind of role player and well he might be the best one in the entire league capable of being both a lock down Defender although being a second or third scoring option and then not to mention being the most durable player in the entire league and no I’m not joking about that either the guy literally played pretty much every available game throw his entire career really putting himself in a class of his own and well that would mean having to give up a lot to get him which I want think might be worth it but the problem here is that the Lakers might not have enough it would without a doubt take all three of their tradeable first round draft picks although whatever else the broke the nest would want in return in terms of contracts I mean they could ask for whatever combination they want the Austin Reeves ruy haimura Jared Vanderbilt Jaylen Hino or even D’Angelo Russell through a sign in trade if they wanted and the Lakers cannot say no it would still be worth it for them to give that up and while I’m not saying that would be a bad trade package I still think they’ll get out bid and specifically by one team with that team being the Houston Rockets at the end of the day you need control of your own draft picks to go through a worthwhile rebuild and while a majority of Brooklyn’s draft picks are currently owned by Houston not only do they have control of their 2024 first round draft pick but they also own their first round draft pick in 2026 along with having the option to swap their first round draft pick in both 2025 and 2027 pretty much controlling the net draft pick future for the next four years now and if they want to change that then Houston will be the team that they trade with who apparently would have interest in doing it in fact they literally tried to do it at the trade deadline according to Sham shiria the Rockets offer them back their draft picks to the trade deadline for Mel Bridges likely an offer that included jayen green as well to which the Brooklyn heads said no to pretty laughable like I referred to before Brooklyn has done a great job at one thing over the past 2 years now with that one thing being devaluating the players in their own team that right there is a great trade offer but it was not even the best trade offer that they have gotten for him according to reports Memphis offered them four first round draft picks back to the 2023 trade deadline and take a shot if you’ve heard this one before but the Brooklyn Nets said no and well they’re probably kicking themselves for that one again Mel Bridges happens to be a great 3 Wing probably the best one in the entire league but he’s not a star player that you can build your team around which they were definitely treating him like when it came to trades and now they’ll be lucky to get any of those same offers I don’t think anybody will be offering four first on draft picks for him again in my opinion three of them would likely be the most that they can now get which is still a pretty damn good return package but it’s lower than what they could have gotten and with that in mind I think the Lakers have a respectable offer for him but again the only problem is that they cannot give them with the rocket SK with that being controlled over their own draft picks and unfortunately that will lead to them being the favorite to acquire M Bridges and while that definitely is unfortunate I don’t think it should mean ignoring what the Brooklyn Nets have to offer even apart from Mel Bridges they have a good amount of talent left on their team with the next best option being cam Johnson another Big 3 in D Wing cam Johnson is a great role player being a high volume 39% career three-point shooter along with a 44% Corner three-point shooter literally one of the best in the entire league and unlike many other great three-point Shooters he does not happen to be a negative Defender now he might not be a great defender but I would call him above average and anytime you compare that kind of three-point when shooting with a non- liability on defense that definitely can help your team out especially when your team is built around two guys that love to get to the paint with that of course being LeBron and Anthony Davis I mean can you imagine the space that he would create for them even a guy like tan Prince helped but now imagine even better three-point shooter like cam Johnson I think that would be incredibly fun to watch the only problem is what it would take to get him the Nets gave him a 4-year $94 million contract and that’ll take quite a bit to match to a trade with the Lakers having to include either ruy haimura Jaylen Hino and Christian wood or if the Brooklyn n want D’Angelo Russell through a sign in trade now I don’t think they should want to do that but they apparently did have interest in him at the trade deadline and if that remains true then maybe they could work something out like the including a sign and trade for DLo either a protected first round draft pick or multiple second round picks and then maybe a little bit of salary filler depending on the kind of contract they would want to give him and in my opinion that would be more than worth it for cam Johnson they’re both great three-point shooter but unlike DLo cam Johnson can be a reliable spot up shooter whereas DLo tends to prefer to take shots off the dribble which does not really work that well with LeBron being the primary ball handler however even that might be a bit of a pipe dream if Brooklyn does in fact enter a rebuild I’m not sure why they would want D’Angelo Russell and then while trade package around ruy haima could be a possibility I’m not sure they would want to do that either though I definitely would keep it in mind but even apart from those two the Brooklyn Nets still have more to offer with the final two being D Smith and then former Laker danis shooter none of which are as intriguing compared to the other two but they still do offer value if they want a bigger 3 and D Wing then Dorian F Smith could be an option and with him coming off a fairly underwhelming year he might even be available for cheap but with him being a 37% 3point shooter during the past 5 years combined now although being a pretty damn good Defender there is some value to be had here I think I would probably have to pass though in order to make a trade work for him they would have to include a similar contract which would mean trading one of Reeves Haim mura or Jared Vanderbilt and I would not be willing to trade any of them for Dorian Vin Smith but then for Dennis shooter he might be a fallback option if they don’t believe Gabe Benson can get back to where he was I for one am not ready to give up on him quite yet but maybe the Lakers are I kind of doubt it but they could probably pull it off for only a second round draft pick or two if they really wanted to and regardless how you feel about all the trades you cannot deny the number of options here the Brooklyn Nets have a lot to offer a contending team if they decide to blow it up and at the very least I think the Lakers should look into it even within that’s being a fairly tough team to negotiate with but with all of that being said what do you guys think how do you feel about a potential trade with the Brooklyn Nets let me know your thoughts in the comments down below that will do it for this video though big thank you to those of you took the time to watch until the end of this video and until the end of all my videos in general I really 1. What do you guys think about a potential trade with the Nets given that they blow it up? Comment down below!

Thanks for watching! Don't forget to drop a like + subscribe if you enjoyed 🙂

  2. one underrated player to look at on that team is Dayron sharpe . ik he’s not a sexy name or nun like that but i see a little Daniel gafford in him and we can prolly get him for cheap . and while he’s not a good shooter so he won’t play much with ad but he’s definitely a rotational center who can play 10-15 minutes a night

  3. The problem is that Joe tsai is not tradable with, the guy makes emotion based decisions and if KD and Kyrie didn’t go to the nets for free, which had nothing to do with tsai, they would be worse than were before they got those players.

  4. Can we substitute a tremendous bench in lew of a 200 mil guard!!!!! There are quite a few very good players that can make our team great off the bench!!!!!! These are bigs, 3 poiwe substitute a tremendous bench in lew of a 200 mil guard!!!!! There are quite a few very good players that can make our team great off the bench!!!!!! These are bigs, 3 point shooters, and ball handnt shooters, and ball handlers.

  5. 1. I don't think Mikal Bridges is gonna be an option for them because I've been seeing and hearing multiple trade proposals involving the Knicks, regarding the possibility of trading for Bridges, and they can actually afford him. So that ship might've sailed by now.
    2. CJ and MB are solid options, however I also don't think we'd be able to afford them at all; there wayyyy out of our price range, and for a long term investment, it's kinda risky. KCP is obviously the more affordable option for the Lakers whwn it comes to 3&D versatility.
    3. Just sign the affordable potential steals in the offseason!!!! there's a few very solid ones that I've mentioned before that can add and expand the depth at the wing positions, AND the interior.
PG: Alex Caruso, Lonnie Walker IV, KCP
    SG: Kelly Oubre Jr
    SF: Robert Covington
    PF: Dwight Howard, KJ Martin
    C: Andre Drummond
    4. A lot of these players can switch positions as well; which would be highly beneficial for starting/bench rotations, along with consistent defense and offense, which in turn would make LA the Championship team we all witnessed back in 2020, but with more players that'll make the team superstacked in both ends of the floor, causing issues for contending teams in either conference.
    5. Trade D'Lo, Spencer, Hayes, Vincent, a few of those rookies from last season, reacquire all the money from those, and add that towards the amount that they can use for free agency signings. That's around $27-30 million they can get back, and about 5-6 veteran minimum contracts they can dish out, especially since 6 of these players have around $3-5 million AS THEIR PROJECTED SALARY!!!!! Work smarter, not harder.

  6. I think lakers fans need to stop discussing about trading Rui, Rui is one of the guys that can give us high efficiency scoring from bench. But because of Vando being injured the whole season Rui need to things that his not primary skill sets like defending, trading him means we won’t have enough scoring from the bench and resulting lack of bench scoring

  7. Nets want to blow it all up and get young players while the Rockets want to compete and the Lakers want to fill in that 3 and D mold and start or future star to pair with AD.

Lakers get Mikal Schroeder and Cam Witmore and the Grizzlies 2027 2nd from the Rockets and the Grizzlies 2028 and 2029 2nds from the Nets.
Rockets get Rui, Cam Johnson and Jaxson Hayes. These draft picks, Their own 2027 1st back, Lakers 2025, 2027 and 2030 2nd round pick and the Suns 2025, 2027 and 2029 1st round picks.
Nets get Jalen Green, Tate, Jabari Smith Jr, Fino, Reddish and Vincent and all their 1st round picks back and all 3 of the Lakers tradable 1st round picks.

In sending out Vincent the Lakers are under the Tax and can use the Non Tax Payer MLE. Split it betwen Prince and a burley 4/5 or don't bring back Prince and use the full 13 mil on one 4/5. Another option is to trade for Schroeder in this deal since we would be just enough under to have him be the NTMLE and don't have Prince return and no 4/5 at the NTMLE.

So the new roster would be this.

D'lo, Dinwiddie/Paul at vet min or Schroeder minus Paul or Din and no Prince or 4/5.
    Reaves, Max Christie(RFA)/Prince( half NTMLE)
    Mikal, Whitmore, Maxwell Lewis
Bron, Vando, Full NTMLE or half NTMLE player
AD, Wood, Full NTMLE or half NTMLE player

  8. Been saying this for a while now. A starting line up of Dlo, Mikal, Bron, Vando, and AD. Its gonna be great

  9. I believe lakers should trade for Mikal bridges & Dorian Finney from Nets. Then trade for Dejonte Murray from Hawks.

    Starting lineup after trade:
    Dejonte Murray
    Mikal Bridges
    Dorian Finney
    Lebron James
    Anthony Davis

  10. Nice video but I prefer a package from Utah if we are giving all the 3 picks. Adding Lauri, Sexton and Clarkson would give us a better chance against western teams.

  11. I think this is the smart move for teams that have no hope of being a contender in the next 3-4 years. They can go the OKC route and stockpile picks. Be the team that eats the bad contracts of some players for draft compensation and young players.

  12. This is the best play the Lakers can make!! DLo Mikal Vando Lebron AD!! Bench : SDinwiddie Max Christie MLewis , CWoods, Valuncunias!! Castleton-Bronnie James
LAL give AReeves-GVincent- Rui 3 1st rd picks
    BKN gives MBridges DFinney Smith

  13. Do not trade those 1st round picks!!!! Draft a big in this draft if Pelicans opt for next year’s pick. K’lel Ware, Holmes or Fillipowski- any of them can play Center and let AD play the PF.

  14. If we cant get spida then mikal plus sharpe. I also think that malik monk and AC, will be a dangerous backcourt pair.

  15. Dmurray, Norman Powell, pascal, AD and whiteside
Tyus Jones, StanleyJ, oubre jr, LBJ, JonasV
Rookie wares, huff, Montrezl, skylar, shaq Harrison

  16. If the Nets trade Mikal that will be to the Rockets for their draft picks.
I think if Dlo sign n trade happen, it will for trade exemption.

  17. If the lakers look to trade for Mikal, you have to include austin. Thats the sad part but you have no choice

  18. Nets were willing to take a bag of chips for Kyrie instead of trading with the Lakers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out

  19. DUDE I FORGOT DFS AND MIKAL ARE ON THE SAME YEAM MAN THEY ARE LITERALLY THE 2 PERFECTTT GUYS WE NEED OMG GO GET THEM 3 FIRST IDC CHIP ON TJE WAY

  20. I said that the Lakers should trade Skylar Mays, Rui Hachimura, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, Christian Wood, Hary Giles Jr, to the Nets for Dennis Smith Jr, Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Keita Bates-Diop, Nic Claxton…….. Trade D'Angelo Russell, to the Pelicans for C.J McCollum, Trade Austin Reaves, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Maxwell Lewis, Max Christie, Taurean Prince, Colin Castleton, to the Raptors for Gary Trent Jr, Bruce Brown Jr, Garrett Temple, Jordan Nwora, Jakob Poeltl, Malik Williams

  21. Why are you making a video that you then just blow up? Lakers have reached into their magic bag of tricks one too many times. Dallas has done it the right way and we are seeing it come to fruition. I love the Lakers but one stained "bubble" title in Bron's 6 years? That is a bust in my opinion and that falls on ownership and their inability to hire a proper coach and athletic staff.

As far as the LEAGUE is concerned, the whole notion of allowing future picks to be on the table towards making deals is a scam. If they want parity then set all teams with the same $ and let them go to work. The tanking of games to get a #1 should be frowned upon because at this point the 'rigging' of games is looking more and more obvious to the business-minded realists. At the end of the day there is no loyalty and the players are not from your home town anyway, it is just a business.

  22. Y’all fail to understand 😭no team in the nba likes working with the lakers in no trades bro 🤣we not getting nun of them regardless because nets gonna ask for prime shaq bron ad 72 first round picks n 55 second round picks jus for Dennis and Dorian 😭
