I mean yeah duh. It’s really just a matter of letting young guys develop, figuring out what holes are left, and patching them. The team could EASILY be a contender at the next trade deadline – after young guys get more early season playing time and we make any trades that we need to.

I just hope you don’t do what the 2021 Hawks did (reach the ECF unexpectedly then fall apart). We are better than them with a brighter future, but the Pacer fan skepticism is real.

I would say this is very contingent on Siakam re-signing. It’s possible to replace him with another high caliber player but not as likely so we NEED him

  4. Interesting tidbit. RE: Siakam.

“Entering his 10th season, he’ll have played fewer career minutes than Karl-Anthony Towns, Aaron Gordon, Nikola Jokic, or Tatum.”

    “May be closer to contending”?

    I’d argue we DID contend.

Made the final four and had a 90% chance or better of winning in 3 of the 4 games against the Celtics

Realistically, this series could easily be 3-1 in our favor. Just looks like we ran out of steam.

that stat about clutch turnovers was damning. They got away from the core offense and held the ball much longer, it seemed.

  8. I think our window opens next year (if you didn’t count this year) and lasts 3 seasons (until the end of 26/27).

After that, the hali/Siakam maxes are going to start hurting our ability to retain the quality role players and those 2 aren’t good enough to carry a team of scrubs unless Hali returns to IST form.

Ideally, we are able to move Siakam 2/3 years into the contract but I think teams are wising up to overpaid players in their mid 30s.
