NBA Gametime reacts to Boston Celtics sweep Indiana Pacers to advance to NBA Finals; Brown wins MVP

playoff Central live to Bill K alongside Brendan Haywood Danny Green complete postgame coverage coming up here we’re going to hear from the players the coaches as the Boston Celtics are moving back on to the finals for the first time since 2022 and the script for this game man it’s the same script every game it really is right and you know we were watching and you you kept saying Dan you kept saying they got to get and you’re talking about the Pacers they got to get a bigger lead cuz they kept trading buckets it wasn’t good enough no they needed double digit lead um for me to feel comfortable as Indiana Pacers fan I’m not comfortable unless they’re up 10 with like a minute to go because Boston even though they’re able to get away with this series of turning on whenever they felt like it they turned it on they always get fight back into it and find a way to get the lead um I don’t think they’ll be able to do that next series but they got away with this series because Indiana’s injuries um and youth the inexperience you could tell certain turnovers uh n hard was playing extremely well and I feel like in the fourth quarter these last fourth quarters for him he’s going to learn a lot from next season yeah their biggest lead was 90 in this game this going to be one of probably one of the closest sweeps you’ve ever seen a team got swept but in three to four games the Pacers seemed like they had control down the stretch of the fourth quarter and every single time whether it was costly turnovers or just big plays made by the Celtics the Pacers found a way to be on the losing end and some of the plays aren’t the the big time stat plays where like the the Drew holiday offensive rebound that’s a huge play tip outs you know like just the the the Celtics always did just enough and then their role players played great like you said uh Derek white big three in the corner he had a great game just overall and they just made enough plays the Pacers didn’t obviously know halberton so they’re not the same version of themselves and I give the Pacers credit for fighting hard every single game game and not mailing it in but uh Boston was just too good so in their last game Boston goes on that 13-2 run right to win the game in this one it was a 15 to four run L I wonder what the total was for all the games that the you know diff the differential they might have lost in a total of in the four games probably total of eight points right they lost tonight by three I think last game one of the games was like one one point maybe three or four points I said I don’t think that the total difference in points was maybe maybe 10 um and it comes down to just the mistakes the second chances at the end the tip outs offensive rebounds you know NE got a turnover got a shot blocked um not getting great offensive possessions but uh defensively you got to get a stop if you’re not going to score and you letting them get second and third opportunity where again great looks from three somebody’s going to hit one Derek w got a big shot in that corner and you know it’s only a matter of time three of the four games decided by five points or less so you’re right on on par with that the Pacers don’t score in the final 333 and breny just with it being so close you could see they were tightening up yeah they were tightening up and they were not their best player and so coming down the stretch what they normally do is they run some type of action with Halle Burton and whether it’s Halle Burton and seak or halberton and Miles Turner they normally get some type of action with their Allstar are a point guard and he either takes the shot or he creates a shot and when you remove that type of player from the lineup coming down the stretch of games you have this function and sometimes you have guys that can make plays but we saw it in back-to-back games they had to give the ball to NIMH har and it ended up in turnovers and things of that nature Pacers just didn’t have enough wasn’t enough execution didn’t have their best player that probably led to the bad execution down the stretch and they just never look comfortable the last two to three minutes of any of these ball games test that to some of these guys lacking the leadership they should have like should Miles Turner should Pascal siakam be the guys like give me the ball let me make the play instead of letting them hard and taking the back seat uh I mean I don’t think that like miles I don’t think that’s miles Turner’s role on this team no maybe not but he could at least say let’s get a good set yeah I feel like they didn’t get many good sets I do think Pascal should have been more aggressive and leading like n hard was hot he played well both last two games but still at the end of the game Pascal you’re not saying he has to shoot the ball but he could be making the decision I I don’t like what second year player for nard yep him being the main guy making the decisions for my team in the last two minutes of the game he was fantastic again 24 points 10 assists six rebounds to your point Pascal cakam goes for 19 points 10 rebounds 8 to 18 shooting but prior to the game you said you wanted to see him be ultra aggressive those numbers don’t show that he was aggressive enough but not he was aggressive but not enough right to where they needed to win and I think and when it comes into that crunch time that key lock in time he needs to be the one making the plays and that doesn’t mean shoot the ball every time I think early he could have been more aggressive he definitely should have had you know 25 shots U but in the fourth quarter I need you making the decisions I need the ball in your hand at least be in the screen and roll where Nar could find you in a roll or pop or you get to your right hand make him set the screen get a mismatch get in a post whatever it is to where you making the decisions for your team with Tyrese being off the floor but Dan let me ask you a question you play with Pascal seak right is that his personality no uh no because demand demanding the ball I’ve played with guys that demand the ball they walk into the Huddle and be like hey hey I remember playing with Dirk yeah we’re in the playoffs Big Time run he walked over to JJ BR and said hey yeah all that dribbling is nice bring it this way is Pascal going to do that that has to be in your DNA I think he has it I just don’t think he has it with this group yet he hasn’t gotten fully comfortable with them yet he’s showing it and mind you when I had him have you seen it we had kawhai we had Kao we had a lot of he also played with Fred like so he has shown it when he was in Toronto I think he just has to do it more here now with Indiana I don’t think used to doing it especially with Tyrese being off the floor um but him getting more comfortable with that situation he probably will sign the extension there I think we’ll see more of it he could he definitely has that personality too be like you know what give me the ball I do agree with him though and when you’re coming down the stretch of a game like this and you’re the guy you have to be able hey hey hey hey bring it this way yeah hey I need the rock you remember playing against Kobe Bryant I do Hey listen when it when it when times got tough he didn’t even have to yell he would just be like when you heard that his when his teammates heard that hiss it could be 20,000 people clapping and screaming when they heard that hiss that meant right two4 wanted the ball and you know exactly to give it to him you have to be able to settle the troops down or in these type of situations and whether that’s yelling whether that’s telling guys I need the ball whether that’s just putting your hand out saying hey man let’s get a good possession you don’t have to shoot the ball to Danny’s point but you have to be the guy that settles the team down the offense runs through you you either score in a one-on-one situation or you call a big enough problem where you’re double or triple team and now you get the ball to nimart on the weak side instead of forcing him to try to make a play against a holiday and that’s not going to work out well for him been quite the Run for the Pacers listen great season and what they accomplished in the situation uh pretty special but let’s focus in on the Celtics here because they’re going back to the finals Jaylen Brown the Eastern Conference Finals MVP gets the Larry Bird trophy I’m not like that trophy but 29 Points okay had that big block with about a minute to go and then feeds Derek white he was all over this game I think this is a collective why he got the award the games he had 30 40 he’s had big games throughout this series that made him the best player of the series I said kudos to Indiana hell of a season uh without Tyrese you know Pascal they get a lot of credit I give them a lot of credit they weren’t even supposed to be here honestly for them to get into this far into the postseason a lot of credit to them love the group that they have and the potential they could be in the near future with that group but Boston they did what they were supposed to do Jaylen Brown stepped up with you know Jason Tatum struggling here and there some ups and downs but he was the most consistent player for them throughout the whole series um offensively for sure but defensively he showed many many uh signs of him being that two-way guy that they need him to be for them to be the the N the NBA champions this year and I’m happy for Jaylen Brown because he had to um accept a lesser role um stats went down slightly this year didn’t get as many accolades as he normally gets he’s even talked about that but he just kept going to work he kept going to work yeah some people joking about the left hand last year and the way the playoffs ended and the questioning the contract there a lot he’s had all NBA miss all NBA team he’s had to deal with he’s had to deal with a lot a lot of noise a lot of Charity and we say just tune it out but times the noise can be deafening so in this situation I’m glad he was able to tune it out get to this point and now he gets he gets to hold that Trophy up no he was talking about that recently and he said he was talking about the noise and the criticism and he was saying sometimes he feels like he’s just got to be a robot right and just forget about all that he probably does take it quite personally it’s got to be hard cuz people at home they haven’t been in your position especially we were talking about you kind of played pre social media and then now you’re still around you know what I mean like it’s hey Danny you that old hey man hey they say black don’t crack I didn’t know you was that old D you play pre social media not pre- social media I came in before social media got big and then the so I I got the tail end of the old school and then came in with the new school so I got a a bit of both um and guys are getting criticized a lot more now these days because it’s just the magn the magnifying glass is just ultra big now everything they do everything they say from social media they again tens of you know hundreds of interviews a day they’re going to get there’s things going to be said people don’t agree with you know Shaq criticized Anthony Edwards other day um because he said you know the sky is Never Falling for me you know certain other guys back in the day would never say those things well they weren’t getting as much media attention they had to do as many interviews they could ignore the media they had newspapers back then it was a little different you know for oh for e the hunger is real First Blood an ally has been defeated get in my belly shattering my mag you have been defeated poison The Purge an enemy has been defeated the hunger is real an enemy has been defeated enemy ultimate an enemy has been defeated an enemy has been defeated finger liing good you leave the Dragon all for for rally to me hey hey First Blood to Victory an ally has been defeated an enemy has been defeated an ally has been defeated

  1. TF Danny Green talking bout. Neither the Mavs nor the Wolves have experience in winning a chip. Kyrie the only western superstar with a ring and Boston has Jrue. Bruh, make a better point clown ass MF

  2. I don’t believe Boston gets the love they should get. Pacers played really well and they’re gonna go far. I think people are looking down too much on pacers and I don’t like it.

  3. See once again, please read read he say in this series—-playoff you gotta show up. Are we winning every game? I believe we could but you so stupid again Mr. Green we are defeated on the road that says a lot about the mental status or where we want to go and what we want to accomplish. I think I can be on this TV show for Mr. Green, he started. We got away with it in this series.!!! no you’re not anymore in the NBA because you’re old but you can’t get a coaching staff job you don’t want to pass down your knowledge or basketball to the next generation once again all that money and no brain😅😅😅😅😅

  4. Listen to these two fools crying about Pacers being without Halliburton " it would be a different series if he were playing" The Celtics were without their starting center, but that wasn't mentioned.

  5. Its funny how much hate boston gets because woke leftys like these clowns project their racism onto everyone else….

  6. Dude wtf is up with Danny green? Is he interviewing for a job at Indiana?? What was with the boot licking??
Even on the question about JB getting the playoff mvp? Tf? Dude move on from Tyrese’s injury. Didn’t pacers win because of all the injuries the Knicks had? Tf is wrong with people like Danny green? Really poor analyst.

  7. This was the hardest sweep 🧹.!! I have never seen 👀. The Pacers really competed /Siakam-Nembhard-Nesmit has shown everyone watching 📺 this series we belong here. We all know a healthy Knicks team would have beaten them. But they balled 🏀 out kudos to them. But congratulations to Tatum-Brown-Celtics on getting to the NBA finals.

  8. Message 💬 to Tatum-Celtics/Luka-kyrie know how to finish close games and won't make the mistakes that Haliburton/Pacers did.!! But Mavericks vs Celtics NBA finals I'm here for it 📺 🍺.!! Tatum /Brown did what they should have done in 2022 and won the NBA championship in 7 games. 🏆 Tatum gets the finals MVP

  9. Get real Danny. Indiana was a 47 win team. and wouldn’t have beat the Celtics if they were healthy. Maybe if healthy, they wouldn’t have gotten swept.

Since you want to talk injuries; made past the Knicks because of their injuries. The Knicks were clearly the better team, so you were lucky to even make the WCF.

Sadly the Celtics have not really played a playoff level team yet. They’ve had it really easy up till now.

The Mavs on the other hand have beaten the Clippers who were injured, but have handled legit contenders in the Thunder and are on the verge of sweeping the Wolves who are also contenders.

I hope the finals goes 7 games.

  10. Everybody talking about how Haliburton wasn't and that's why we won… STFU!!! Nobody wants to say that Celtics are playing without Porzingis and still winning. Lets go Boston Celtics!!!!

  11. The Pacers are a better defensive team without Haliburton, with a marginal decrease in offense… Hali was torched on D and you could argue it would be more lopsided to the Cs favor if he played.

  12. Switch the title from pacers to heat or Knicks and keep the exact same team, I bet the narrative is different 🤦‍♂️

  13. Pacers didn't have Haliburton but Celtics didn't have Porzingis. Neither team ran their best starting 5 formation. The celtics just had a better overall squad sans 1 star.

  14. I'm pulling for the Mavs.
But if the Celts win the chip they have worked hard & are deserving. Mazzulla has them playing good.
Still, I can't stand Brown & Tatum! GO MAVS!

  15. That bum crying about the Celtics clearly didn't watch the games and it just spewing ignorants, total points won over the pacers are maybe 10 points or less? You forgot about the 16 point ass kicking in game 2?
