Insider Says Steve Ballmer Won’t Let Paul George Leave Clippers Unless Team Gets Comparable Star Power

Clippers’ decision to invest in their home court is being seen as the biggest reason why they might not want any star to leave them, primarily because they need as many people entering the arena as possible.

Steve Ballmer only cares about selling tickets for his stadium now…sigh

I have to believe the only people who are pushing for PG to just leave as a free agent without getting anything in return are OKC fans.

I don’t want a Max deal for him, but I’d like to see if a trade can be made if he doesn’t want to agree to the 3-year deal that was reported.

Just letting him walk means we’ll be lucky to get a play-in spot next season.

So basically PG going to get offers from other teams come back to the clips and saying “match this” and Balmer is going to do just that unless it is a sign and trade offer.

I’m absolutely shocked that the owner would want to do the most reasonable thing to either make the team better or maintain the status quo.

  4. You guys telling him to walk are insane, if he doesn’t come back we are still above the cap

I would let him walk for free. A non-winner who will never get us to the chip. He’s not him!

  6. That would be a silly thing to be stubborn about if it was true but thankfully it’s not and this article never even says what the title suggests it did.

We went from cheap and nefarious to rich and incompetent. Other than a new arena it’s tough to tell any difference.

Clippers don’t want to give him a max otherwise it would’ve already happened. However they may do that vs having him leave. Clippers have Kawhi and Harden for star power if crowd appeal is an issue. Losing PG for nothing wouldn’t be good for the team though

I mean PG has a player option. If PG really wants to leave, nobody can stop him.

I’d be surprised to see if anyone takes him at the contract he wants. On the clippers side, seeing him leave for nothing sucks but I’d rather that happen than watch Clippers have to draft last in the first rd in the 2030s for pg to play like a gleague player.
