76ers Rumors: Daryl Morey’s Offseason Plan REVEALED Ft. Paul George & Brandon Ingram

[Music] had the Philadelphia 76ers offseason plans been revealed we’re talking about that on today’s show you’re watching 76ers Now by chat sports I’m Chase senior hope all of your weeks are off to a great start and you all enjoyed your Memorial Day weekends Kevin o’conor of the ringer revealing the Sixers plan a and plan B and we’re going to dive into that first make sure you subscribe to the channel for year round entertaining insightful informative Sixers coverage that’s all for free not behind a pay wall like the athletic or phly what we do it’s for the people we’re also in the midst of a great sub battle here in the month of May with only a couple of days left in this month between 76ers now and the Miami Heat report as you can see we’ve closed the Gap a little bit but again let’s get that dub and at the end of the day you’re winners because you get year round Sixers content right here on the show let’s get into it 76ers offseason plans revealed and Kevin oconor of the ringer saying Paul George Remains the Sixers primary target during this off season here’s what KOC had to say in his article sources around the NBA believe the 76ers have a real chance of signing Paul George this summer although George just turned 34 he’s still a tremendous scorer facilitator and Defender one night George plays like an MVP the next he’s an Elite 3 andd role player this type of Versatility is exactly what the Sixers need they’re looking for another star but they also need players who can fill various roles PG-13 is both which is why soures familiar with Philly strategy say he is the team’s plan a in fre now remember what Daryl muray had said in his postseason press conference we want a wing who can score and perform in the playoffs and then you think about what KOC said and what we’ve talked about here on the show Paul George and the variety of ways that he can impact the game a much better fit than Tobias Harris who is trying to fit a square peg into a round hole in his four plus 5 years in Philadelphia depending on how you look at how he performed after the trade and it just never made a lot of sense and the fit was never seamless why Paul George makes sense in our eyes he’s an elite three level scorer he can get to the cup throw down with the hammer lay it up he can finish when he is contested he can also create his own shots at all three levels whether it be getting to the 10 pulling up from the mid-range hitting a fade away little jab and pull up or the three-point shot he is also still a great defender and how many times was Tobias Harris as this team’s number three option targeted by a Jason Tatum or an elite offensive player because he just doesn’t have strengths in that area like Paul George does what I also like about PG-13 is the size skill combination we were so pumped up about the athleticism from Kelly UB at the Wing Spot maybe Paul George isn’t as Twitchy as Kelly U but he gives you that athlete at the wing position and he’s played with other stars he’s very familiar with some Knights being the number one or being the number two relegated to that number three role this is not another Tobias Harris situation Paul George is a top 25 player Tobias Harris hasn’t been close to that yet he’s been making $36 million Paul George is going to cost more than that but you’re getting more from that investment and how many times did we see Tobias haris struggle with the catch and shoot for Paul George that is a strength of his whereas Harris really lacks that and he needs more offensive ample opportunities to kind of catch a rhythm and Def find his offensive rhythmic flow Paul George can just fit in in a plethora of ways and you look at the specific catch and shoot three-point numbers last year Paul George 45.5% on 4 and a half attempts Tobias Harris 36 half% on less attempts at 2.9 so Tyrese Maxi and Joel M beat a lot of knights they’re going to take over games but how awesome is it that you can have that third option who can also take over the offense if he needs to or the flexibility of letting Maxi NMB cook and then Paul George can hit those Corner threes and if he wants to age a little bit better he’s going to be able to do that with Philadelphia I get that he has the injury history he’s older he’d be very very expensive but if he can stay healthy this makes the Sixers a championship threat yeah those injuries are pretty much the only reason right now I’d be a little hesitant but he played 70 plus games this past year and really outside of La he’s been healthy besides you know the broken leg in Indiana but he was healthy for the Thunder when he was playing like an MVP he was healthy this season and I love what OK Conor had to say about why the Sixers want him so much right his versatility yes he he’s a superstar he’s going get paid like it but he can fit in so well in so many different roles sort of in a way that you know we wanted to buas to score some nights other nights he’d be doing other things like Paul George has played with Russell Westbrook when Russell Westbrook was in his prime Paul George played with Kawhi Leonard James Harden Paul George has been around and he’s played so many different roles he’s totally comfortable you know not being the number one guy every night not even being the number two guy every night now will he have to be sometimes when maybe Max year and beid aren’t totally on or one of them is injured yeah but he can do that and I think again that reason you know he can fill so many roles he can do so many things he’s so versatile I think it makes total sense that he is Daryl Mor’s number one option right now yeah and it would just be fascinating in a playoff series to have just the versatility and the options to have Tyrese Maxi close Joel embiid close Paul George close and they can just fulfill all these types of different roles and look I know people have ripped tyres Max’s defense I think he’s better than advertised this also helps you on the defensive end where at all three levels now you’re pretty sound defensively where Joel embiid is always going to be that backbone protecting the rim but now you have that Paul George to stick and guard multiple different positions and that includes guards it includes wings and forwards so who is your plan a for the 76ers this off season looks as though Paul George according to Kevin ‘ Conor is plan a for Philadelphia are you going with the different strategy here let us know coming up next we’re only getting started only ramping it up here on this beautiful Tuesday the 76ers backup plan if they can’t sign Paul George first Today’s Show is sponsored by prize picks the best daily fantasy sports app in the game and if you’re looking to play DFS this is the only app that you should be using plan a Brandon Ingram Plan B Sixers appear to be eyeing the New Orleans Pelicans younger Wing player let’s get into this KOC with bi info and Intel aside from the pipe dream that Kevin Durant or Jimmy Butler would ask to be dealt directly to Philadelphia sources familiar with the Sixers thinking say that Brandon Ingram is the primary fallback plan Ingram would have to be acquired in a TR from the New Orleans Pelicans since he’s under contract for 36 million with the 15% trade kicker through 2024 2025 but the Sixers could absorb him without sacrificing any salary A major benefit to the Pelicans who could then operate with cap space and receive draft picks from the Sixers the pros and cons of Ingram and let me say this Ingram for 36 mil as compared to Tobias Harris for 36 million I’m okay with this being your backup plan not the primary plan but Plan B you can convince me that this could work the pros go-to scoring ability he too can score at all three levels he’s excellent off the pick and roll the two-man game off the pick and roll pick and pop between embiid and Maxi was glorious imagine having Ingram as part of that equation and he’s becomed over time a more improved playmaker and passer the cons he’s a little bit smaller he’s slight thinner frame so there are durability concerns he’s a little bit of a limited Defender inconsistent offense where he’s kind of been up and down throughout his career most improved player type of player and he’s been Elite at times offensively and then sometimes he’s his play has fallen off a cliff and then it got as bad as last year he got benched by former sixer Willie Green is’s now the head coach for the New Orleans pelic and what’s weird his three-point attempts per game and another concern I have would he be okay with being that third option or would it be that Tobias Harris like situation where he struggles to get into his offensive bag because he doesn’t have the ball in his hands as much as he’s accustomed to because of embid and Maxi the three-point attempts per game 2020 2021 6.1 but it’s gone down the last couple of years to 4.1 to 3.6 and then back up to 3.8 why has he gotten gun shy in shooting the three-pointer it’s not as bad as Ben Simmons being just afraid altogether but almost cut in half from 6.1 to 3.8 I want somebody who’s not afraid to Chuck it Paul George I’ve seen him he had some bad playoff Clunkers he’ll still keep shooting though and Ingram making just $36 million this year does allow Philadelphia to add more pieces in fore agency and for those of you who don’t want that older player Brandon Ingram is that younger player for Philadelphia so if this were the backup plan for the Sixers everything else fails a trade for Jimmy Butler a trade for Kevin Durant bringing in a Paul George are you okay with this being the backup option yeah a little interesting here that this is kind of their secondary route they want to go you know I think Ingram not quite a player like Paul George where you know Paul George obviously better but I also feel more versatile Paul George I think he can play off the ball can be effective without the ball in his hands and also a great defender Brandon Ingram really never been a great defender despite being very long and athletic enough You’ think he’d be better a better Defender than he is he really isn’t and he really doesn’t impact the game off the ball because again he isn’t shooting threes like he used to you know his first year two years in the Orleans after he was traded by the Lakers he was shooting as we said six threes a game and he was hitting 38% of them he was he was shooting him he was hitting him I don’t know what’s happened over the past few years for him to move away from that but he operates so much in the in the mid-range now that you know you obviously have embiid always operating the mid-range Maxi has really added that element to his game now you have Ingram another guy who is going to need the ball in his hands and is going to be operating a lot again in the mid-range and attacking downhill to wordss the pain I do think you know depending what you give up for him again he’s going to be cheaper so you could trade for a brenon Ingram and then also sign you maybe you have enough space for a mik monk or somebody that can create their own shot from three and be more of a floor spacer another reason I like Paul George better and I think the Sixers also have them higher in their list is because you know you don’t need to give up anything for Paul George besides money if you’re getting Ingram you know you’re trading away those picks that you have now you know as opposed to if you sign Paul George you still have those picks to improve the team now you trade for Ingram takes up 36 million and you lose out in the picks I don’t love his fit here but I also don’t think he’s capped out as a player I think he has room to grow and he’s shown the ability to to be a floor spacer he just has to get back to it so we’ll see I like him as a plan B but again Plan B for a reason entering his age 28 season and the year before the 6.2 three-point attempts or 6.1 that we showed you the first year with the New Orleans Pelicans that’s when when he won most improved player that I alluded to a little bit earlier he was taking 6.2 three-pointers per game at a 39% clip so back toback years he went 39% and 38% on north of six attempts and then with fewer attempts the numbers have gone down with the exception of him going 39% from 3o range two years ago so it’s a player who can give you 20 plus points her game every single night he can create his own shot I just want to see The Return of him being an aggressive offensive player and that’s why I worry that he comes to a City like Philadelphia where there is a lot of pressure where he starts to feel that noise if he does struggle a little bit could it be the Tobias Hara situation all over again where you’re paying a player a lot of money who’s coming up short who doesn’t seem to be a city fit or a scheme and team fit and then once again you’re missing your window be sure to subscribe to us here on Philadelphia 76ers now just hit that 2. I rather try to trade for players like
    Mikal Bridges
    Michael Porter Jr
    Kyle Kuzma

And sign a player like Klay Thompson on a 2 year contract for less money

PG is too much money for a oft hurt washed all star

  3. Bring in bridges. All of these other guys (besides Paul George) aren’t as impactful as him in my opinion. Bridges would also be cheaper, meaning you can additionally sign guys like KCP, a backup center, and even a guy like Malik monk

  4. Sixers need to sign Fred vanvleet and Malik monk regardless who they get! And find a four I wouldn’t be opposed to signing Martin from Miami … I honestly think Brandon Ingram isn’t a good fit! We need players who are already adjusted to playing without the ball !

  5. I'll bs mad AF if wee got PG. If he's the number 1 priority then that's the reason why we still haven't won yet. So you want a number 1 & number 3 option thats unhurt prone? Paying a 35 yo 50M? Emh yall truppin.

  6. People forget that Ingram was the second round pick. The same year that ben simmons was the first round pick. We can make up for the mistake that we did that year. Even though, ben simmons was the clear favorite for the first draft pick But Ingram we can get more players in free agency. I'd rather have Kevin Durant, man. I wish we could have kevin durant, but that's wishful thinking. So I guess daryl mori doesn't wanna go after Makal Bridges will happen with that??? But I wouldn't mind Paul George. When he was on the pacers, and he was given the business to LeBron James. This guy reminds me of Tracy. McGrady, well, not anymore, but in his prime man, he was a problem. ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN TOBIAS "CRUMBLE 🍪 HARRIS

  7. The way you describe Paul George is completely different than what you see from him on the court. When you're replacing Tobias for George, then of course the move is great, but if you're sacrificing a meaty portion of yr cap space & yr roster depth for George, you're looking at another Harden situated cause you cant count on him to make up for the lack of depth. This isnt where the Sixers should be lookin
