I know I’m the one who posted this so I’m only gaslighting myself lmao but we simply cannot continue to waste a bench spot on this guy anymore. He’s going to be 32 in a little over a month and just popped his achilles. This team needs YOUTH and capable bench bodies to soak up minutes during the regular season.
If having him around the team is that important to keep Giannis happy, find a role for him on the coaching staff.

I understand the FO wants to keep Giannis happy, but continuing to waste a roster spot on TA when he has a torn achilles just doesn’t make any sense.
I’d much rather give that spot to a young guy like Tyty Washington that could develop into a solid bench player.

Maybe. The 15th roster spot never really has anyone important lol. It’s always a waste no matter who’s there.

People always argue that the last spot on the bench holds no value. But what if another young player can come in and get workouts in and push his way to the bench. You may have a few players who don’t see the court, but why not get one extra young stud a shot at finding his way into a rotation potentially. Put thanasty on staff and give another young buck a shot.

Look, I love Thanos as much as anyone, but the team can’t bring him back this season. The point of having Thanos, the player, is that the coach can point to him and say to the other rotation players: “I have this vet who is busting his behind every single practice, but you play over him. If you don’t respect me, at least respect him and his effort.”.
When that’s gone, the point of having Thanos back as a vet is also gone.

I don’t know how much things have changed because of his injury, but about a month ago there was speculation in some Greek media that he was planning on returning to the Greek Basketball League

As much as all these arguments are true that we’d be better off with young talent instead of Thanasis, I’d still keep Thanasis to make Giannis happy. Giannis is a generational player and an insane asset to Milwaukee as a whole. Fuck that 15th spot, even a 14th spot if it’s what Giannis wants. Just need Giannis to be happy. Not sure where the Bucks would be without him. I honestly don’t think any high profile players would want to play in Milwaukee if Giannis wasn’t there.
