Knicks Planning To Add MAJOR Injury Protections To OG Anunoby’s New Contract… | Knicks News

all signs seem to indicate that OG an anobi will resign a new contract with the Knicks the only question is how much that contract is going to be worth many Nick fans have already expressed their concerns about OG and his injury passed nearly each and every season anobi is available to play he deals with some form of injury that has him miss a number of games and according to one NBA Insider the Knicks absolutely know this and they may be working in a clause into his contract that protect texted Nicks from his injuries we’re going to break down these latest reports and so much more today if you’re not already subscribe to the channel go ahead and hit that subscribe button now and make sure you have notifications turned on so you don’t miss a second of the new content and now let’s get started the Knicks are planning to add an injury protection Clause to OG an an obi’s New Deal now this is not surprising to me as we just spoke about anobi has missed a number of games each and every year of his career and even this year when he was traded to the Knicks he was supposed to be that game changer for the Knicks and he was when he was healthy when he was available and when he was out there the Knicks and an anobi when they’re on the floor together they just look like a completely different team we all have to recognize that and we understand the impact and for that impact you’re going to have to pay for it but can you blame the Knicks if they add some type of injury protection Clause to Anan obi’s deal in my opinion I wouldn’t because that’s how you protect yourself in case something happens and according to sny’s Ian Bagley the Knicks could do just that and add that protection Clause to Anin obi’s New Deal let’s go ahead and break down bagley’s latest report here shout out to Ian Bagley for giving us the following information he answered the question about OG an anobi on his following mailbag Edition and he gave us the following update he States what’s up cooler that’s the guy who asked the question the Knicks don’t need to fully guarantee Anan obi’s new deal if I had to guess they’ll look to put some injury Protections in the contract but an anobi should have other suitors in the market we’ve noted that Philadelphia could pursue an anobi if the Sixers make an offer to an anobi at a certain dollar amount or without the injury protection maybe it forces the Knicks to sign an anobi without any protections added and as we’ve mentioned the number of times on the show already OG Anin obi’s new contract is expected to reach 35 to 40 million annually according to Fred cats of the athletic an anobi receiving 150 plus million this summer isn’t out of the realm of possibilities all indications are that the Knicks will pay anobi whatever it takes to resign him here’s how I see things OG an anobi any discounted deal you thought he was going to give to Knicks that’s now gone with the number of teams that are interested in an anobi they’re going to offer him a lot of money that means no discounted deal for the Knicks so that’s one thing there then with an anobi if he’s going to look to get 35 to 40 million that means he’s already getting paid he’s already getting the bag if all of those things are true and the Knicks are accommodating him and making sure that when he comes back to this team he not only has has an impact but he has the chance to shine and to be an offensive threat something that the Raptors never gave him the chance to do the Knicks can give him that ability if he stays with the Knicks he’ll gain that opportunity but if we’re giving him all of these additions all of these Securities and we’re making sure we’re taking care of him because he’s CA because he’s part of the family then I think at the very least what Adan Obi can do is make sure we can add those injury protections into his contract because that helps protect the Knicks and if you want to become a Nick for a long term and you want to help this Knicks team today and in the future then anobi should definitely have no problem having the Knicks add that injury protection Clause to his new deal because that helps everybody it helps the Knicks in case an injury happens and if nothing happens it does nothing to OG an anobi OG an anobi is not affected but let’s say he gets injured but he wants to be a Nick for a very long time him having that injury protection clause in his contract will help the Knicks and make sure they can add to their roster in his absence while he’s injured so that way they can stay competitive and if they can make it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals without him and then let’s say he comes back healthy he can help them push it all the way to the NBA finals and potentially help us win a championship and that’s what it’s all about the Knicks need to make moves like that and if you’re looking to be part of this team for the long term for our future then you should have no problem making these sacrifices the Knicks are making a number of sacrifices each and every year we have star players on this team Julius Randall jayen Brunson who are already making sacrifices and are rumored to continue to make sacrifices for this team to help them stay competitive stay flexible so they can go out there and add that star player that they need to add to this team to make us competitive for the NBA Finals each and every year these are the moves that we’re trying to make ogn and Obi allowing the Knicks to do this goes a long way also he’s one of the key players on this team if everybody on the roster sees OG do this Jaylen Brunson do this Julius Randall do this that’s your core your three best players on the team right now if they’re doing it that means it inspires everybody else on the roster if they’re in the similar situation to do the exact same thing I’m looking at Isaiah hartenstein I’m looking at a couple of other players if they choose to resign with the Knicks this is how you help the Knicks get better this is how you help help the Knicks stay competitive and this is how you help build a contender and that’s what the Knicks are out to do they’ve done it by the way fully healthy this Knicks team is a contender the Knicks make the Right Moves the right signings and the right additions we stay that way for years isn’t that what you want that’s what I want that’s what most of New York wants everybody remembers the 90s the Knicks were in the playoffs each and every year New York City was on fire was electrifying I want to get back to that I want to experience that again I know everybody wants to do that I know Leon Rose wants that again that’s why he’s building this roster the way he is that’s why he’s patient that’s why he has all of his first round picks those protected first round picks our second round picks the contracts the players everything we have is set up this way by Leon Rose purposely because we are waiting for that star to become available that we covet to get them on this team but not only that it’s also because everybody on this roster knows that we are only a few moves away from building that legit contender in the East and really in the entire NBA and when your entire team knows that they’re willing to make sacrifices after this magical season we just had best believe everybody will be making sacrifices I just hope that includes OG and and Obi and not only with the injury protection Clause I hope he gives the Knicks just the a little bit of a discount with his contract as well too if it was supposed to be 35 he can’t sign for 32 that would be out of the question would that be crazy because to me if he was supposed to sign for 35 and then Nicks get him for 32 that’s a steal that’s a discount and thank you ogan and Obi for doing that you help the Knicks remain flexible the Knicks need to resign ogn and Obi it looks like they’re going to do that the Knicks need to resign iHeart it looks like they’re going to do that that it also looks like the Knicks are going to steal Jaylen Brunson yet again and sign him to a very good extension not only for him before the Knicks because if they sign Brunson to an extension this summer he is leaving roughly 114 million on the table talk about a sacrifice and that is coming from your leader your Superstar your point guard Jaylen Brunson you have to love what he’s doing you have to love Brunson and you have to love the sacrifices if Brunson is making a sacrifice then I expect OG an anobi and ihart to make sacrifices as well too and hopefully they do just that come this off season because if they’re able to do that that allows the Knicks to go out there and add more pieces to this team that makes us even better more competitive and a team that goes all the way to the NBA finals but what about you guys what do you think about these latest reports from Ian Bagley stating that the Knicks could pot potentially add an injury protection Clause to OG and and obi’s new deal with them let me know in the comments Below guys because honestly I would love to hear from you but that’s going to do it for this episode I hope you enjoyed it and if you did go ahead and smash that like button leave a comment below and of course guys please subscribe to the channel until next time Nick fans peace

The New York Knicks remain the favorites to sign OG Anunoby, but the price tag for Anunoby could reach upwards to 35-40 Million annually. Many fans have already voiced concerns over Anunoby and his injury past. But New York must re-sign him or risk that trade looking like a complete failure. However, it seems that the Knicks may have a way around the injury concerns. According to an NBA Insider, he notes that NY could potentially add injury protections to Anunoby’s new deal to ensure they are protected… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

  1. Don't piss OG off with injury protection, no player will sign such. Give him his worth $140-160m asap before he goes elsewhere. We all know he's injury prone, however what is important is his willingness to return sooner and play through injury, which he has demonstrated as a Knicks. He played through the elbow injury his first 15 games, we literally saw him icepack it every other time out. He even tried to return from surgery sooner but sustained set back. Obviously, he tried to play through the hamstring in Game 7. I'm pleased with his willingness, that's what is important!

  2. We all know that RJ wasn’t a true wing nor was he a very good defender, so I’ve always wondered how the Knicks as currently constructed would have been with just a solid defense wing? Could we still have been good? Could RJ have been the problem for the Knicks all along?

Yes, I agree that OG was valuable because the numbers don’t lie once he joined team, but can’t we find a cheaper healthier wing and save the money to add more pieces to bolster the roster?

  3. I don't blame the Knicks for doing this.. This should be done for all players that are injury prone!! Period.. Best ability is availability.

  4. Yes its nice to see guys step up and take pay cuts, but they should also put in nice bonuses for 1st place in division, winning the Eastern Conf finals, and NBA finals!! Now that would be fair to offset the protection cause injuries are apart of the game, in a perfect world, we would like to see starting 5's finish a season and it can happen, but we have to be realistic, if we lose a guy we should be able to compete, but losing 3 an 4 guys, another 2 or 3 guys playing banged up you cant win a championship that way, but thos season gave Thibs some really good looks an lineups that he can get execution an results from, he might see someone struggling but remembering last year how a bench player performed he can go to that bench player in full confidence without injuring the morale of a starter, we got a stronger chance next year

  5. If we have to do a sign & trade for assets do it can't have these dudes holding us hostage & putting us over the cap

  6. we only have a six year window to win we gotta give thibs what he needs to win look at his bulls formula a point guard derick Rose=Jalen Brunson defender at the rim Jokiem Noah =isiah Hartenstien A three and. D wing Luel Dieng= OG Annoby and a scoring 4 Carlos Boozer =Randel at mikal and he can be jimmy butler with this team we can beat anyone so run it back with mikal let’s maximize our team while we can teams are getting better please throw bojan sims and picks for mikal bring in the final infinity stone

  7. KNICKS' INJURY PROTECTION FOR ANUNOBY, KNICKS IS IN DANGER OF LOSING O.G.
LOTS OF CONTENDING TEAMS WILL STEAL O.G.
AND REGARDING BRUNSON, KNICKS SHOULD PAY HIM WHAT HE DESERVED NOT AT DISCOUNT, HE ALREADY GAVE A DISCOUNT ON HIS FIRST CONTRACT WITH THE KNICKS.

  8. Leon moving like a diabolical mastermind. Injury clause got OG out here making sure he doing all his recovery😂😂😂

  9. Even if the 76ers want to sign him they may want to do the same because with Embid being injury prone as well it may hurt them by not doing so.

  10. It’s music to our ears to hear such great and intelligent moves by our Knicks. And that should go for all injury prone players

  11. OG Anunoby gets injured because he gives his all on the court. If I were in his position, I would walk away if faced with unreasonable contract conditions. It's clear that numerous NBA teams are eager to secure his talents. Competing with the best in the postseason and striving for a championship requires significant investment. Being in the luxury tax is a necessary part of the game, especially when acquiring top-tier players who can elevate the team. OG has fought hard and proven his worth, deserving his $40 million without feeling undervalued. Knicks fans need to stop acting like they control Leon Rose and James Dolan's finances. Appreciate your elite team, and if it takes adding three more max contracts to win a championship, so be it. Let the owners pay to play.

Stop behaving like a poverty team, you are in a different bracket now Knicks fans.

  12. Knicks should go cheap on Jalen and pay Rick the difference. 😂 There’s no cap for coaches.

  13. I think the Knicks is in big trouble..Philly is going to offer OG 50 Million a year on a 3 year deal worth 150 million…I think it's a done deal…OG and Philly head coach nick had dinner last night….

  14. Leon is so backwards. You don't trade a lottery pick for a role player. He made a huge calamity with Randle and O.G. now Randle will be traded and that means the draft of Obi was a complete waste. And we could've drafted Haliburton if not for the Neanderthal. Leon is digging a bigger whole for himself standing by this coach. It will all back fire in his face if he doesn't fix it.

  15. Ill make the knicks pay for anunoby, if i were anunoby i ll ask for 45m knicks have to take it, no way they will let anunoby go.

  16. All in favor of team sacrifice. But's let's be honest – in this day and age of 'what's in it for me' it's hard to imagine people leaving huge amounts of money on the table. But how much do or does anyone need to live a good life. After a point it becomes excessive. So if team spirit and legacy are added to the mix, not to mention promotional PR deals to add to ones salary, then making this kind of sacrifice to be a contending team for many years, if not to mention, possible champions a few times, would be amazing in this city, the city that has the mecca of B-Ball at the Garden. And to do it when this city has not had a championship since the 70's would be colossal and mythological for all the players. If they aspire to be beloved sports heroes like Frazier, Reed, Bradley, DeBusschere, Ewing and Starks, then they should collectively do it. And the Villanova guys should prevail on the rest of the club to fall in line. And as you said, leading by example as JB has done is the right tone to set.
