Indiana Pacers lose to Celtics – SWEPT despite outplaying them for 46 minutes in three games!

so the season is over for the Indiana Pacers are swept by the Celtics in four games despite the fact that they outplayed the Celtics in three of those games for 46 minutes for if if NBA games were 46 minutes long the Pacers would be up 3-1 in this series but they’re not sadly they’re 48 minutes long and the Pacers don’t know how to finish because in the playoffs more often than not the farther you go in the playoffs playoff games are lost more often than they’re won and the Pacers found a way to lose those three games and it’s really it’s disturbing because this was there for them again they should have won game one they should have won game three and they should have won game four and that they didn’t is going to be a regret for them likely for ever and and that’s just the way it is you get to the Eastern Conference Finals you’re that far away from getting to the NBA finals and the Pacers made some winning plays and then they made plays that lost them games this is that it’s so important and we we’ll talk about the statistics in a minute and how this thing kind of broke down but it’s really really important as you Scout guys to scout people that you project an ability to win a championship with that’s how you got to scout can we win a championship with this guy it’s not does this guy have traits that are going to be successful in a regular season unless that’s your goal it’s does this guy have traits that would lead you to believe that he could play mistake-free basketball over the last two minutes of a really close game in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference Finals NBA Finals whatever and the Pacers have got some they got some guys who don’t and can’t and one in particular and no no reason to identify him and crap on him you you know who I’m talking about what now what’s missing pieace the missing piece I think is addition by subtraction and thank you for the uh the contribution Randy I appreciate it this is an instant live Pacers post game a sad post game but a post game nonetheless and live brought to you by the great people at my bookie my bookie you use promo code Kent K NT you unlock up to a $11,000 sign up bonus that’s winning before you even play that’s making a winning play it’s not a losing play um my bookie where you can bet on anything anytime from anywhere let’s talk about this game and by the way make sure you make sure and subscribe to this channel make sure and like the video that’s a thumbs up thing it’s a polite thing to do I do it with every video I watch and if you want to make a uh a contribution as Randy just did that is more than welcome include a comment we’ll share it with the class you got a question we’ll share that too let’s talk about this game Pacers lose by three of course he did I told my wife with 3 minutes left in the third quarter I said look they’re going to take a Le and then they’re going to lose this game there was no way they weren’t going to lose this game you could just feel that that the momentum was such that the game was going to wind up being a loss I kept rooting for the Pacers I wanted to be wrong I wasn’t Celtics win 105 102 seum good with 19 points 10 rebounds nbh har really good 24 points six rebounds 10 assists um t J McConnell another 15-point game with five rebounds four assists that’s a that’s a guy who makes winning plays you win games because of TJ McConnell leading the way negatively in plus minus Miles Turner minus1 so I think a as we break down moving forward we won’t do it tonight but as we break down what happened in this series and the areas to move forward from what’s next for this team Miles Turner is a part of that um part of that Improvement and and we’ll talk about that uh 10 of 29 from threes hit 46% first team to ever lose the first three games of a series while hitting better than 50% in each of them that is not easy to do and that happens because you’re not you’re not avoiding the game losing plays and and what what Miles Turner did during that stretch there was a stretch where he turned it over didn’t get back effectively on defense although that was tough like I’m not blaming him necessarily for that on the other end I think he missed a three and then there was a foul and and you just can’t have a stretch like that in a playoff game because it’s going to lose you games you can’t play basketball like that you can’t be self-indulgent in the Eastern Conference Finals and win four out of seven you can’t you have to understand how to win are you first and foremost are you competing to win or are you competing as some kind of a branding uh Escapade you know what I mean what are you doing what are you trying to get done what is your understanding of what needs to be done in order to avoid losing I think that’s the missing ship for Miles anyway I can’t help you know we talk about him because he he has the ability to be really good but he does not have the tarity to help a team succeed in the postseason and that’s just the way it is doesn’t mean he’s a bad human being just means you can’t win a championship with him being one of your best three or four players you just can’t because he’s going be on the floor late and he’s going to lose you games I hate to say it but PG13 is coming back he’s talking about it a lot on his podcast if he comes back to the players the Pacers no they wouldn’t be the best team in the NBA what has he ever won what’s the thing that he’s won where’s that been Paul George is not a winning player either I wouldn’t have his ass back in Indianapolis I promise see this that if he comes back dunsky I got no time for any operation and I don’t believe that the Pacers are an operation like this I really like Kevin Pritchard I’s a high quality general manager who is not going to engage in the stupidity of resigning a guy like Paul George he’s just not going to do it you don’t win with a guy like Paul George Paul George wins with a guy like Paul George not the team he plays for Paul George is the most overhyped ridiculous basketball player in the NBA period he does not lift your team he puts up Gody numbers he and he looks good doing it but he does not win ever ever ever and that’s the way it works that’s him and that’s why the Pacers weren’t worse off because he was gone when they picked up olot and that was the best trade pritchard’s ever made uh Paul George going to OKC and they get back sabonis and and Oladipo thank you yes please now Oladipo decided that he was a brand you can’t have the brand guys brand guys are not going to win you championships they’re not going to win you playoff series a guy who’s ready to ball out for the team that’s who wins because guys who uh [Music] lose the guys who are self-motivated write brands more than they are champions those guys don’t know how to avoid making the plays that cause losing they just don’t and so you don’t make them a part of what you do Steve Balmer does with the Clippers where are the Clippers everybody every off season my god oh the Clippers they got they got Paul and they got hard and they got the guy who never ever plays Kawhi Leonard hey I’m I’m a little dinged up I think I’m going to be out for 3 weeks you don’t win with those guys and that’s why they’re sitting at home and we’re going to watch Dallas annihilate Minnesota tomorrow night and and sweep the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals um Obi toppen was pretty good I think he’s a winning basketball player I like Obie toppen um turnovers again Turner the uh the leader in the clubhouse for the Pacers with four five fouls also led the team I two of six from the field uh eight points four rebounds one assist man and and I’ve taken crap for years from people who have lectured me about the qualities of Miles Turner and Oh no you’re wrong you’re wrong about miles really I am I don’t think so I could been right this entire time um how about douge McDermot getting in the game a little bit tonight played uh played 13 minutes I’ll tell you what is really really good let let’s end positively you know what uh truth Seeker talking about Rick Carlile I’m kind of in what what you’re saying I I’m I’m there a little bit here we go sports says we need more uh of the mindset like the old schools old school players have just not there much but the Celtics don’t have it either the Celtics are just more talented they got a couple old heads who want to win a championship in Horford and in in Holiday those guys know how to play and and uh Brown and Tatum are good enough that’s that’s not a bad team if porzingis comes back for the finals I I think they’re a pretty good team um but I’m not I’m not sold on them being like a uh a beast of the East you know what I mean I don’t think that the Celtics are going to be at the top of the East forever you know for the next four years I I don’t see that happening I think the Bucks come back next year I think the Pacers are in a really interesting situation where the Pacers could get it going the Pacers with a couple of moves could put themselves in a position to be really good in the East it’ll be interesting to see what halberton does in terms of the Olympics because you know winning a gold medal is cool and and playing on an Olympic team is cool but is it going to help him play 70 games next year at at the peak of health and go into a playoff Run next year with something left in the tank rest is important regrouping after a season like this is important and that’s that’s kind of the good part of this is I think that like Obi toppen and Isaiah Jackson got better not a little bit better but a lot better during this playoff run and I think that’s really going to be a help for the Pacers next year Randy says Pacers are just one guy away do we trade draft picks for that one guy I don’t know what draft picks they got they gave up draft picks to get seum so I I’m not sure where they are in terms of of draft equity and the ability to go make trades an interesting trade I I think what you’ve got to try to do and this is sounds like I’m crapping on uh uh like I’m crapping on Miles Turner again but I I got to go back to try to move him and see if somebody’s going to Pony up a little bit and put me in a position where I can I can raise the level of that roster coming up next year I think mathine coming back mathine coming back is going to be a big deal that guy can go get Buckets I like Benedict mathine I think he’s a guy where his high- end is really really good I don’t know where Walker’s high-end is yet jarus Walker we didn’t get to see him a whole Gob but I think that he can play and and maybe he’s a guy who elevates I think it’s much more likely that the Pacers are going to try to elevate from within than go out and get a guy they’re going to be over the cap but under the tax threshold they they could make moves um Miles Turner is the one ill-fitting piece for this team that I think might be able to kind of Jin up some interest and and Garner enough coming back that you actually improve for next year even though he’s relatively cheap making $20 million that’s that’s a serious amount of money but he’s relatively cheap for a starting five who can shoot threes it’s all the other stuff that he does that’s nauseating and and that doesn’t work as as far as regular season I don’t think it’s a bad thing but in the playoffs you saw what happened I Boston they got coaches who know what the hell they’re doing they know to pressure the ball when he catches at the elbow you bring some weak help swipe at the ball let’s go they did the same thing with seum they Scout they’re playing multiple games against these guys they’re going to figure out when to expose these guys and and it’s it’s all about the play I I read this story about Roberto ketti so uh this goes back to baseball and goes back to baseball a long time ago where Roberto clti if he was hitting third for the Pirates he comes up in the first inning with two outs he would look sick on a slider swing himself into the ground fall down missing swinging and missing at a slider taking the strike out in the let’s say bottom of the seventh he’s facing that same pitcher when starting pitchers you know went seven eight nine innings through a lot of complete games knowing that in a high leverage situation that pitcher thought he could make him look sick again with that same slide piece and cledy wouldn’t miss it’s not it’s not that you make the play it’s when you make the play and that’s what the Celtics did over and over and over again in this series forcing turnovers putting the Pacers High leverage situations putting them in Peril that’s what championship teams do that’s what a championship coach does and that’s what the Celtics did and so for their effort the they’re going to the NBA finals after being outplayed in all but 6 minutes over three of the four losses to the Celtics it’s terrible and and it those guys as they go to bed tonight and for the entire off seon they should regret this and and should regret it hard and and not Pat themselves on the back and say man we had a magical run we went to the Eastern Conference Finals screw that you got to figure out how to win winning some isn’t winning enough winning enough is holding that trophy over your head and having a championship parade in downtown Indianapolis that’s what winning enough is so you know somehow feeling like this was good enough hell with that that’s crazy talk we’ll talk about it tomorrow morning breakfast with Kent by the way weird schedule this week I’m taking the week off the radio show so I’m getting up a little bit later we are not going to do breakfast with Kat at 6:40 in the morning it’s likely to be more like 8:40 in the morning 9:20 in the morning it’s going to be irregular for this week only because I this is just the way it’s going to be that’s the way it goes Turner is going hope uh home in playing Legos I like Legos it’s like cousins and pennic in Atlanta what is I’m interested in that um they draft Walker and then trade for Obi then trade three firsts and one of the League’s best perimeter Defenders for seum bad man I don’t think so like I If you can figure out a way in his prime and siakam’s what right at 30 either just turned 30 or is about to you got a chance to go get a guy who can be all NBA you go get the guy who can be all NBA you do that I I think that’s good move and and that it cost you what it cost you that it cost you brown cool draft picks cool topping that’s okay I like Obie toppen good players make you better that you have more of them than you maybe need you got more than five of them I’m cool with that but Walker is a guy who I think is going to be really really in man that dude’s shoulders are out to about here right he couldn’t fit in this Frame me and my uh these These are broad shoulders people but his are uh about 4 in wider on each side we’ll talk to you tomorrow morning I can’t wait I proved everybody wrong we made it to the Eastern Conference Finals hey you didn’t prove me wrong I said exactly that I said it’s a six seed they got a great chance to go to the Eastern Conference Finals and I also said and get swept I amended that to losing the series in five when I was out with Dan doit last week because that’s what looked like looked like they were going to lose in five they were going to figure out a way to split the two at home they didn’t and so it’s over um yeah no that’s uh Pacers looked like a team the NBA was pissed about making the finals so they made sure no uh I I thought actually I thought the Pacers got a good whistle tonight despite the fact that Jaylen Brown should have gotten a flagrant for him hitting TJ McConnell in the brain I thought he should have gotten a flagrant for that but there were other plays where calls went in the direction of I thought that n Smith that the charge who charged it was really close it might have been Brown and and N Smith was just outside the restricted area I I thought that that was I thought that was a block uh rip Bill Walton Bill Walton that’s a cat who knew how to win he brought winning energy everywhere he went and if his if his foot had cooperated we’d remember him a little bit differently not just as the MVP in 78 the champ in 77 in ‘ 86 and the Sixth Man of the Year in ‘ 86 we’d remember him as one of the all-time great basketball players and a guy who played basketball the right way and broadcasted basketball oddly but in a very very engaging way you thought you know what you could have a good time Bill Walton would have been a good hang we’ll talk about it tomorrow

Pacers lost because they failed to avoid mistakes when it mattered most.
Myles Turner can’t continue to make errors and allow the Pacers to beat a very good team like the Celtics.
Next year might see the Pacers take yet another step forward.

  1. Let's Go Celtics Let's Go!!!! Let's Go Celtics Let's Go!!!! Let's Go Celtics Let's Go!!!! Swept that AAU team. 4 more wins to go 🏆 Jaylen Brown will be MVP for the Finals too

  2. I've learned as a colts and pacers fan they either…..

    1. Win big
    2. Lose in heartbreaking fashion

It clear we don't have clutch players and that list goes on and on for years. Missed shots , missed field goals, turnovers at the wrong time everytime

  3. Paul George left us high and dry and now that we r finally good again he wants to come back? Eff that! We don’t want him!

  4. The Pacers ran into a more talented and experienced team. Luckily talent can be learned and earned. The Pacers learned in this post season and now they get to earn it in the offseason. I don't have anything bad to say about any of the players. I thought they all fought hard and contributed the best they could during the playoff run. I never thought I would be watching this team playing at the end of May. Now it's time for the Colts to step up and take that next step.

  5. Looks like reality finally set in Ken. Not so optimistic anymore.
Don't be so optimistic on the colts either. That def is going to be horrible and the off is going to be more inconsistent than you think

  6. If Paul George can help this team, the suck it up and get him. Problem is, I don't think PG13 will help much, if any…. The Clippers didn't do much after they got George. The Pacers are close, but no cigar.

  7. Disappointed that the season is over, but really proud of what the Pacers accomplished.

Every young team has to take their lumps against the veteran perinial contender in order to become the next veteran contender.

We need Tyrese to become a killer, and we need Nembhart and Nesmith to build on this experience and play like veterans next season. With matthurin coming back, i have high hopes for this team next year.

Who are you speaking of that we need to subtract? I think we can expect the young wings to improve and learn from this experience, but we will only go as far as tyrese gets confident and assertive (and healthy).

  8. 💯 Correct Kent. Taking Paul back would be like taking back an ex girlfriend who dumped you for another guy

  9. It’s obvious Jarace Walker was not Rick’s choice so he refused to play him. Reminds me when Larry Brown tried to ruin Jalen Rose. Luckily we had Donnie Walsh to step in and get rid of Brown the next year. Does Pritchard have the stones to do the same?

  10. Being a Colts fan after these last few painful years for the team, I was already conditioned to expect nothing great when the Pacers had a lead in the last minutes of crucial games.

  11. If the mental gymnastics you’re doing is to help you cope, by all means, go for it. Pacers are a very talented young team! They have a bright future, but the final score is more important than moral victories or supposedly outplaying the opponents for periods of a 48 minute game. Great teams overcome the momentum swings and the pressure in the final minutes are what experienced teams have on younger inexperienced teams. The Bulls, Pistons also had to overcome the inexperience against the Celtics in the Bird era. JT & JB had those same experiences against more experienced and better teams like the Cavs, Bucks, Heat and the losing a 2-1 lead to GSW in the finals 2 years ago! Those experiences led to this years team being mentally ready for this years run. It should be a great finals matchup, Dallas and Boston finished the regular season going an identical 19-4 in the last 23 games. Gafford, his acquisition put them over the top. They beat the competition and are the west’s best team. Denver was IMO the best team, but that did not factor into getting the job done against a very good young Minnesota team, same goes for OKC! Both will be better in the years ahead for this years experience. The 2 best teams are left, and it should be a good test for both teams. Dallas played above their regular season record and Boston showed that their 64-18 record was no fluke. Great season for the Pacers!

  12. Pacers are ahead of schedule long term, but there's questions and frankly, I don't see them being any better than a 6th seed type squad without more help. Circumstantial run that was fun, but ended in a gross way

  13. its this simple, if pacers could rebond, they are 3-1 right now. no one seems to know what to do when the balls in the air, 4 pacers and 1 small celtic and celtic gets the rebound. miles gets thrown around and if miles trys to throw back they call fouls on him. shit was BS, NBA is 70% rigged. foul calls are on how much fans like u.

  14. Man you disrespecting the hell out of Victor Oladipo, he isnt a "brand guy". Im a celtics fan, he gave his all to the city of Indiana the dude tore his right quad and hes never been the same since, so he got traded.

  15. you really are stupid sometimes when it comes to this winning shit. I could care less about Paul George but winning player and good player are not equatable in a team setting. Ewing is fking lightyears better than Luc fking Longley and Bill Cartwright combined.

    Stop with this BS.

  16. Funny you trying to flip flop on Miles now.

Without Miles we dont get past the Bucks, or NY. Sure he was -11. But…
Vs the Bucks he had games of +19, +10, +17, +12.
Vs the Knicks he had games of +24, +24, +11, and +19.

If your going to shit on Miles for his bad series, why not Pascal too? -10, -13, -9?
