@Los Angeles Lakers

[Buha] Young is a name that has been linked to the Lakers for a while, though some around the league believe his switch of representation from Klutch Sports to CAA earlier this month has decreased the odds he lands in Los Angeles if he becomes available.

Bunch of nothing in this article from Buha but here are the most interesting notes:

The Lakers are expected to be aggressive on the trade market, as The Athletic previously reported.

Young is one of many names that’ll be discussed internally by the Lakers over the coming weeks, a list that includes Mitchell, Garland and Murray.

It’s unclear if every key Lakers’ stakeholder would want to aggressively pursue him (Trae).

At the same time, part of the reason the Lakers moved on from head coach Darvin Ham was they felt the existing team underachieved in the regular season and playoffs. They are still confident in the core members of the team; perhaps the group may be only a marginal upgrade or two away from contending in the West alongside the likes of Dallas, Minnesota, Denver and Oklahoma City next season.

The Lakers would also prefer to keep Austin Reaves, according to team and league sources.

There is one more potential wrinkle in the Lakers’ team-building plans: James, who has a $51.4 million player option for 2024-25, recently highlighted the need for teams to have quality role players and depth. In Episode 8 of the “Mind The Game” podcast with JJ Redick, a candidate for the Lakers’ coaching vacancy, James praised the supporting casts of the four conference finalists (Boston, Indiana, Dallas and Minnesota), noting that “these games have been won by the MVPs of the role players.”

League sources told The Athletic that the opt-in and opt-out routes are both on the table, and the leading scorer in NBA history is expected to play up to two more seasons.

Breh all these talk about coaching hires I swear my mind read the title as if the Lakers were lookin into hiring Nick Young as head coach lol. I’m gonna go ahead a log off for a week.

Guys like Buha, Pincus and Ramona offer no insight or real reporting. They just try to remain relevant by providing us their “thoughts” or what they “heard”. Stick to Woj and Haynes for real, reputable reporters.

  3. Basically 2x the contract of DLo and marginally better except in terms of marketability. Id take him over DLo of course on a stats comparison, but not at his current contract so…pass.

First I thought he was referring to Thaddeus Young since he is a guy the Lakers had tried to get a few times over the last decade. Then I was like no way that dude is washed now haha. I still don’t want Trae Young though.

Unless the Hawks decide to commit to a full rebuild I don’t see the trade happening. They would have to have another deal lined up for Murray.

Tired of these articles. We’re not getting Trae

If DLo walks itll take Rui Reaves Vando and Gabe for salary plus all picks and swaps etc just for Trae

Fuck no he simply makes too much money

  7. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I really feel like if the Lakers don’t get a 3rd star this off-season then they won’t have anyone to co-star next to AD when Bron is gone. Trae future proofs the team and would take the load off of Bron who’s about to be 40. With the assets we have we can’t get rotational players who don’t shrink in the moment. Everybody besides LeBron and AD are untouchable.

I think fans of this team would be surprised what Bron and AD could be built around if we made everyone available even Reaves and Vando. People wouldn’t like because they’re fan favorites but if you really want to improve the team you have to do whatever it takes.

Okay am I the only one who doesn’t want a 3rd star anymore? I was all for Spida or Dejounte but I’ve realized that retooling the rest of the roster is way better than gutting it for a Big 3 with no bench

  9. Bro put “Trae Young” in the title, have us reading this bullshit to find out if Thaddeus is still in the league and shit

The trade talk thing with the Lakers really pisses me off at times. Every team seems to want Reaves plus a few future first round picks, yet……when the trade deadline comes, it seems these same bastard teams give away their players for cents on the dollar.

  11. Trading for Trae is how you make sure the Lakers don’t contend for a title for a decade.

  12. jrgraffix

Do not want a small point guard who can’t defend anybody

@MODs start putting a flair like Tier 1 for the Wojs and Shams, who have guaranteed news

Tier 2 for hit and miss

Tier 3 or shit tier for garbage

    Thanks

I really hope they don’t get trae, season will be cooked before it even starts
