new this morning out of Los Angeles Los Angeles Clippers coach tyou has agreed to a new long-term contract that’ll make him the NBA’s highest paid coaches or one of them sources told our senior Insider Adrien Wen Ry now Lou Who had one year left on his contract has gone 184 and 1134 in His Four Seasons with the Clippers which is the sixth best in the NBA in that stretch never fear wo is here as we dive into this a little bit further in La how were both sides able to come to this agreement for the Clippers here yeah this deal I’m told takes tyo through the 2029 season at about $14 million a year that certainly puts him in the upper echelon of coaches you’ve seen some recent deals Eric spola at about 15 million Monty Williams just south uh of tyo at uh around 1375 and so he’s now tied up to the Clippers new into it dome opens up next season Kawhi Leonard signed and obviously this is an organization that would like to still keep uh Paul George of course uh uh James Harden yeah and so uh listen the Clippers Steve Balmer Lawrence Frank they were determined to keep tyu and he’s wanted to continue to be a part of this he said at the end of the season I don’t want to be bouncing around organizations they know this is a committed organization living in La you know being a part of it and so I think really over the last few weeks the Clippers and you know Ty’s agent Andy Miller with clutch Sports you know they zeroed in on this deal and and landed here on it uh in the last couple days so Tao’s deal wrapped up and done you mentioned Kawhi Leonard which we saw happen over the season but a month from today Paul George has to decide whether or not he is going to opt into that or decline that player option and become an unrestricted free agent what do you think he should do perk I me it feel like he he he has some leverage here on the Clippers right because you think about what they traded to get for Paul George right SGA and how many pics was it uh WS that they son Oklahoma City a historical you see what I’m saying so it’s like who who else is out there that you could replace Paul George with to put alongside kawh lard so they almost have to be committed and he to me it seemed like he has some leverage I don’t know how many dollars he want but I’m pretty sure he might get somewhat close to it it just comes down to the number right because we saw kawh Leonard sign for just less than the max so seeing how all of that kind of configures for them all right so that’s the Clippers uh for the last month you’ve been reporting though woe that they were committed to getting this done and now we see sort of the fruits of that labor but officially now crossed off the Lakers coaching candidate search so where are they and who are they looking at now yeah tyo was never really on uh uh a part of that search but uh the Lakers now are starting to bring in candidates uh for longer in-depth interviews they had a series of they kind of get to know you interviews with people they didn’t know as well I’m told that New Orleans uh top assistant James bgo is meeting with the Lakers today in in La this is his second meeting he was the head coach in Charlotte for three years got progressively better each year uh an elite NBA offense in Charlotte and you saw the work he did with Zion Williamson and that team uh he’s a very serious candidate in this Lakers search but they’re going to bring in more and there’s going to be I think over the next few weeks you’re going to see you know more candidates come back in and dig a Little Deeper with the Lakers on this head coaching job you know they’re nowhere close on this one yeah I think they should be patient because as we mentioned to me the obvious fit was tyo but that was a circumstance where it benefits Ty for being with the Clippers so if you look at the Lakers I mean I like that they’re being patient as this you know goes forward all right so if we’re talking about the Lakers and we’re talking about LeBron then it’s only natural right that we’re also going to talk a little bit about bronnie here W you broke some news earlier this morning what more can you tell us and not a surprise uh bronnie James is staying in this draft tonight is the deadline if you wanted to go back and return to college basketball it’s an end CA deadline uh to play uh pull yourself out of the NBA draft that’s being drafted in the second round and if he were to go undrafted then you become a free agent you can sign somewhere but they’re confident in the workouts he’s had he looked good at the combine he helped himself at the combine he helped himself at the pro day people needed to see the bronny James they saw prior to USC when he was McDonald’s all- America when he was in playing for the US team in the hoop Summit game they’re seeing that player again after the five months he had to spend away from basketball that I think derailed his USC season and so he’s determined to stay in this draft and and he’s in it now and so you know he’s got another month now to continue to make the case to teams about his candidacy to be an NBA player yeah seeing him at the the pro day that they had in Los Angeles the other day the room was packed so many people wanting to see what this young man has to offer right now according to our Jonathan gavone he is mocked at 54th in the second round but he has night when was the last time we saw we seen him do a postgame interview like the way that he did we haven’t seen that in this series his head is up high this this Timber Woods team got the confidence coach fch is coaching he’s not sitting at the back of the bench anymore this series is going to go six or seven games ant’s got a swag back and he told michah Parsons last night he’s going to bring some shoes back also for for game six in Dallas now you like Minnesota to win game five but let’s take the other side of that prediction right what if the Wolves can’t do it so fill in the rest of the sentence for me the Mavs will win game five because of Kyrie Irving okay and when you look at the start of this series in game one who set the tone for the series for the Dallas Mavericks it was Kyrie Irving on the road the only Champion that’s on the floor for the Dallas Mavericks okay and when you think about Kyrie Irving we understand that he understands the moment he has been in these moments he’s been the multiple finals he’s won the NBA Championship Kyrie knows what it take you expect your role players to play better at home but on the road especially in the Conference Finals you need your Superstars to rise to the occasion and take you home I expect Kyrie to be aggressive I don’t expect him to go the Los Angeles Lakers are facing a critical decision this off season especially with
