officially foregoing his remaining Collegiate eligibility to remain in the field a couple of players initially ranked above bronnie James are returning to college which means bronnie has slid up to 52 on our draft Guru Jonathan gon’s Big Board the team that currently holds that pick the Golden State Warriors and speaking of Jonathan gavone look who’s here now uh Jonathan why did bronnie end up staying in the NBA draft chenet bronny has always said that his dream is to play in the MBA so it probably wasn’t a surprise to anybody to see him ultimately keep his name in the draft the way that he performed at the NBA draft combine in Chicago and then his prod day in Los Angeles in front of all 30 teams improved his standing in this draft and made this dream a lot more of a reality we have to remember he started this process 998th on our board we weren’t even sure if he was going to be eligible to play in the NBA getting cleared was a huge first hurdle and then he went out and performed as expected so he’s positioned himself well going into this month he’s got some big workouts in front of him he’s in position to hear his name called on draft night and then on top of that Brian Rich Paul is on the record saying that bronny won’t be taking a two-way deal how do you read into that type of messaging Brian how do you read into yeah messaging about the two-way it’s the Conference Finals you know it’s one of those things um so that was a very interesting thing for him to say I was just very interested in what gavoni was saying I was learning from all of us um the fact that he has turned down some workouts which you don’t normally see from a second round pick and also that he is very much made public that he’s not going to sign a two-way deal that does indicate in a normal setting that a player is turning off some teams closing the door on some teams with a reason um I will say this though um when it comes to Brony we are in a unique situation where we cannot compare him to other situations also and Jonathan would be the first to tell you this be careful what you hear in May when it comes to draft picks as opposed to what things will actually be by the third week of June there’s a long time between now and the draft so don’t make any assumptions but I think what Jonathan said is accurate based on my conversations with teams I think bronnie is headed towards getting drafted which team and where stay tuned and in June Andrea you will be working the draft once again what do you think is the best outcome for bronnie come draft night you know I think it’s interesting gavon just mentioned he’s you know slid to 52 that that’s the Warriors right if you go a little later in the 50s you’ve got Boston you’ve got Denver you’ve got the Lakers when I see a situation for Bonnie especially if he falls in the 50s to go to a team like the Warriors we saw how the Warriors utilize their rookies this season they had a couple of rookies have big performances this season or say he goes to Boston who has a winning culture Denver has a winning culture or he’s with the Lakers who have had a ton of success as an organization for Bry to go to an organization where he can learn where he can develop where it’s a longevity type of move like yes he could go to a team that’s that’s struggling and maybe he plays immediately but maybe that doesn’t last as long so it kind of depends I mean obviously bronny specific goals as you want to go and play right away that could determine the team that he wants to go to but longevity wise there are some teams in the 50s that have winning cultures I just named them that’s not a bad B Spot for bronnie to land yeah multiple teams in the mix here and Jonathan while we don’t know when bronnie will get his name called likely in the second round that is likely the same case for many of the top players in the first round in this draft how many names are currently in play to be drafted in the top spot Jonathan Chen it’s a big group of players I’m told that the Atlanta Hawks are expecting to host between six to eight players for that number one spot they’re exploring a lot of different scenarios at this stage including the possibility of trading down or acquiring another pick they have a lot of tough decisions to make this off season with Trey Murray with deante Murray you hear you know teams like San Antonio possibly exploring the idea of packaging the fourth and eighth pick maybe to move up to number one you know we have to see how the conversation around darus Garland plays out the NBA is is at an inflection point right now and there’s a lot that’s going to come to ah head on June 26 thank you for that uh Andrea where are you from the a Atlanta if you are the Atlanta Hawks who are you taking once Adam Silver puts you on the clock yeah this this one’s tough uh obviously because there there are so many different options for this number one spot in this specific draft but I would I would go with Alex SAR like Alex SAR at his size with his height he was at the draft combine he got to talk to Christine Williams and Christine asked him who we love hey Christine he she asked him what makes you the best option for the number one picker why should you be the number one pick the first thing he talked about was his defensive versatility his ability to switch his ability to defend multiple positions that is crucial for the Atlanta Hawks and I know Trey young again if Trey young stays there I know the Atlanta Hawks their centers their post players they haven’t been a main feature when it comes to their offense but his ability to roll to the basket to finish on the move he gives Atlanta a different element to their game that they haven’t had in recent Seasons the switch of ility on defense Mobility finishing at The Rim all of those things and his size think Atlanta could use alexar also another interesting situation that could actually happen based off of your work Jonathan gavone the Spurs could actually package 4 and eight and send it to the Hawks for that number one pick Wendy what would that mean for Victor webbing Yama well that’s what people are watching right now I’ll tell you one thing Jonathan last year when I was in Paris with him he took me to this sort of JV game uh which called Spa which was like at 4:00 in the afternoon I was like why are we going to this guess who was in that game balal Kabal who ended up going eighth last year and a young thin 17-year-old named Zachary rishes who Jonathan believes has an excellent chance to be the number one pick in this draft what better to pair with a French big man than a countryman potentially in Zachary rishes who is a brilliant passer and very athletic Wing player so that’s one of the things people are watching they’re watching Not only would the Spurs be interested in comparing the two Frenchmen but Rish is still playing in the French league playoffs teams are going over there and watching him he’s putting up some impressive games does anybody fall in love with him knowing that the Hawks number one pick could be available and get into play over the next three weeks I’ll never forget that afternoon in Paris by the way there was like 30 people at the game most of them were Scouts but listen and follow Jonathan gavone you will sound and look smart when it comes to the draft Yeah that that’s a go listen if the Hawks aren’t Falling in Love with r i take that deal okay that’s good and yes we also fall in love every time Jonathan gavone comes and preps us for the draft thank you so
