Do the Lakers Need to Make Big Changes or Build Continuity? A Third Star or Better Depth?

hey everyone welcome to locked on Lakers for Friday Brian kinety Andy kinety do the Lakers have enough inhouse to make themselves a contender again or do they need big changes that’s [Music] next you are locked on Lakers your daily Los Angeles Lakers podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day thanks to everybody for making lock on Lakers first listen of every day Monday channel they’re all chatting with each other they’re talking to us they’re they’re talking about money belts if you listen to Thursday’s show um today though Andy they are wondering if uh the Lakers have enough like this is a tough team to figure out because um they weren’t so good that you could say with you know unequivocally run it back and they weren’t so bad that you could easily say they need to make some big changes before they go into next year so there’s a lot to think about do want people to think about this as well that today’s episode’s brought to you by priz piix the easiest and most exciting way to play daily fantasy sports go to prize.com locked on NBA and use the code all lowercase locked on NBA for a first deposit match up to $100 so like at this time last year Andy well the Lakers technically were still playing but at this time last year you could look at the Lakers and see they might have been swept by now they might have been I didn’t look at the exact date but they were still the Western Conference finals were either still going on or just finished um you could look at the team though obviously and say continuity look at what they did in 30 games together and so on and so this year it’s a much trickier proposition and then that’s before we even get to the how yeah got me thinking about this in terms of talking points for today because of an interview that our buddy Trevor lane from Lakers Nation did with torian Prince he was on the show and he was asked about basically why the season didn’t work out the way that they had hoped for which was if not a championship certainly at least getting back to the Western Conference Finals building on that and tan really talked about health and the idea that their continuity and cohesiveness and all that sort of stuff was interrupted by guys being in and out of lineup quote the only thing I think necessarily went WR wrong was just the fact that we didn’t have a complete team throughout the whole season we had the talent but just having that cohesiveness was important and we weren’t able to sustain that I don’t think until the inseason tournament where we got a little dose of it but other than that we weren’t able to really have a full team everything was really in and out lineups changing throughout the season so I think that’s really the only negative I can think of as far as a positive I mean honestly I saw that if we had the same record we did this last year we would have been third in the west so that just goes to show the company that we’re in and how hard it is to win a game in the Western Conference and said I just think continuity of the team is the most important thing having everybody healthy and being able to throw different variations whether it be a big lineup small lineup I think that versatility gives us an advantage now obviously it should be noted Toran is a bias source of opinion here because he also let Trevor know very uh unequivocally I would like to stay a Laker he said that he really enjoyed his season with the Lakers he and his wife enjoy Southern California like he is in no hurry to leave at all so obviously that would make him an advocate for continuity and another attempt with more or less this roster that includes him but it does raise the question of how good was this team really how much of the shortcomings were due to factors beyond pure roster composition and how much could be improved upon under better circumstances can those circumstances exist yeah and you also too it’s like you rarely hear anybody ever say you know blow this Emer bleeper up um but yeah I mean that’s the thing it’s like they they were not a it was a disappointing season I think you know by any you know any stretch given where people thought the Lakers could be at the beginning of the year um when you factor in the Rel you know not just relative good health the good health of LeBron and Anthony Davis and two guys who both played enough games and played well enough to be featured on the all-nba teams ad featured on the all defensive team as well like you start to put these things together the fact that they won one game in the playoffs this year it definitely this is a disappointing season but it wasn’t bad it wasn’t you know the year or a year where they missed the playoffs it wasn’t a year where they were under 500 for all of the thing or whatever you know they finished you know as tan said last year in what was admittedly a down year for the conference they would have been you know five spots higher or whatever it is in the in the in the seating that’s why this is hard because they’re not terrible um there is no clear direction of would they be like if you there are a lot of people who think Andy if you took Darin off this team and gave them a better Coach which is something that people hope they have next year that’s worth three or four or five games um Flawless um that’s worth three or four or five games like well you win five five more games and you’re certainly no long you’re not in the playin anymore I mean like all of this stuff matters and do you look at the Lakers a lot differently if they made it to the second round if they made it to the Conference Finals again we’d be having different conversations that’s for sure well the other thing that makes it complicated too is even if you thought there was an obvious path the Lakers path towards getting wherever you think they need to go is Complicated by the fact that they don’t have a ton of tradable assets um you know the d’angela Russell for all of his flaws and all of his polarizing qualities if he leaves this off season outright the Lakers ability to replace him at anything remotely resembling his talent level is going to be difficult and even then if you somehow manage to replace D with somebody roughly at his talent level you’re just swapping in a essentially the new version of D you’re not actually getting better unless that guy just happens to be much better with D’s specific weaknesses and I guess Blends better or whatever but you you understand what I’m saying like you your best option would be like pie in the sky you’re just swapping out actual D for DLo equivalent but that’s not Improvement it’s I I basically you can see it for people who are watching on YouTube you can see it on the rail like I I kind of phrased it as you know your choices are like if you have an XY diagram kind of thing it’s like on one access is stars or depth and another one is continuity or change and you know this part of it is the continuity or change like do you do you think that fundamentally and no team stays exactly the same the Lakers for all the talk of continuity from the Conference Finals team to this year’s team weren’t exactly the same as they were the year before and they certainly made changes as to how they played as well but you know the at the core was the idea of trying to bring back roughly the same roster that’s what we they sort of discussing in this segment but you alluded to it if you’re on the um stars or depth you want to build that up if you lean towards the change part of this equation the question is how and so that’s something we’ll get into in the next uh next segment coming up Andy next lock on Lakers is brought to you by prize picks prize pick is America’s number one fantasy sports app with over three million members the easiest most exciting way to play DFS it’s just you against the numbers you pick more than or less than on two or more player stat projections and just hard to run back the same team let’s presume LeBron opts out and resigns you can obviously you don’t there’s no rule in the world that says You must trade ruy haimura you got um you know Austin Reeves under contract you’ve got Gabe Vincent under contract not that we saw much of him but he’s still there and you can jar Vanderbilt’s under contract you can theoretically keep Max Christie a restricted free agent you it should it would not be hard to come up with this to to keep D’Angelo Russell like that that is something that if you want to do it can very easily be done and not even by you know wildly overpaying um and then you make smaller changes around the margins you find you know more front Court help whatever maybe you can make a small trade I mean look also a couple guys you know Jackson Hayes cam reddish they may make the choice for you by opting into their player options and then from there maybe they become part of a trade or whatever but some of the run it back I mean Christian Wood has already made his runit back decision he opted into his player option not cam radish is not looking at some crazy cam summer where you know teams are going to be lining up based on what he did this year I think you know he didn’t do anything he didn’t Malik monk this season so to speak to I think there’s a chance Jackson Hayes could opt out I I I think Jackson played well enough that a bump could be possible for him so it would not Shock me if he opted out also wouldn’t shock me if he opted right back in I think reddish is a given op in so you know when you when you look at that stuff the continuity aspect is not that hard to do um but if you’re looking at something for change then you’re you’re you can be talking about two two different strategies there is um the pursuit of stars um which I am not naturally inclined to do but I think there is an argument to be made for it based on the assets Lakers have available to them um that that might be the better play um that said there aren’t that many stars if Donovan Mitchell goes off the market you’re not really Rolling In Stars for this offseason you know Trey young um there really any I mean de Jon Murray has been an All-Star before if the Pelicans started shopping Brandon Ingram he’s been an All-Star before um you know there and there are a couple people like you know male Bridges Jeremy Grant they’ve been considered all starish caliber players you know where I think those become guys that are it’s ex I me I you say the same thing about Brandon Ingram you say the same thing about most players who are not defined Superstars how they get slotted is extremely important like put the contract required to keep Brandon Ingram around longterm aside Brandon Ingram as the second best player at times the best player on the Pelicans is a much different and I would say worse proposition than Brandon Ingram as the third star on the Lakers if Brandon Ingram is your third best player def that could be a very good team I I I agree with you and that really kind of dovetails well into the the the next thing that I’ve been thinking about with this is you know this is like so would you consider Brandon Ingram or you know whether it’s Ingram or Murray is that a star play a depth Play It’s kind of somewhere in between I think it’s more of a star Play Just Because of nothing else they’re going to be they’re going to be paid particularly if you’re talking about Ingram Murray’s under contract for a few more years but Brandon Ingram is becoming extension El eligible soon he’s going to be paid most likely like a star so at the very least you need to think of him as a star okay and that’s fair and so and I think that it’s a good maybe it’s an interesting it’s the right way to frame it’s the lesson we learned with Russell Westbrook if right if you’re going to do Dev you made this point with DLo if you don’t want to just be swapping out deck chairs and not to compare the Lakers to the Titanic because that again goes against my first segment uh proposition that the team wasn’t terrible they’re not the Titanic but if you just don’t want to be swapping out proverbial deck chairs then you have to find a way to trade your decent player for a better player that’s ruy haimura who’s not garbage um he is would have some appeal around the league I would think you know coming off a pretty strong season um or at least a with strengths in it you need to do better than him like so that’s Ry plus what two draft picks like you understand what I’m getting at and that now you have to start counting assets or at the very least what you need is somebody who maybe isn’t better overall than ruy haimura but is better at filling a need than ruy is like you know and and this also gets to the idea of with continuity running it back what do the Lakers really have answering the question of how much do you think Jared Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent’s absences affected the team like the the Lakers signed Gabe Vincent to be a very big part of this season what did he play like 11 games or something I mean he he was barely there and that was a trickle down problem for the L that that is the reason why Jaylen Hood chafino being kind of predictably unplayable as a very young point guard became a problem whether you like the idea of drafting JHS or not they did not draft him with any you know inkling or pressing need to play him they drafted him as a project which seemed doable at the time correct I it was it was it was defensible it’s not what either one you or I would have done because you and I were both like and this was ironically with the idea of when you have LeBron and AD two guys who you can’t rely on to be you need to have as many potential healthy bodies um and playable bodies on the roster as possible and and Jay Jaylen and Chino was neither of those things um so you you it gets to tricky things so like what do they need like what they need better front Court depth they need a you know better Center options they need you know then Christian Wood and and Hayes provided them this year they need upgrade over that is wood in a second year um presumably maybe even Hayes both of those guys coming back with a little bit of continuity with a healthy season from wood where he isn’t showing up in camp out of shape which he clearly was at the beginning of the year um like does that make a difference or do you at this point just say you know kind of what wood is we need to go outside the organization would you be better off with a guy who may not start um or even necessarily finish but would fill that role better and could could do some of those things and give up ruy for that like you so you’re not really you know you you’re you’re trading for a true Center to play ad0 with a starting caliber Center um and then that get but that gets into questions that you’ve raised a lot too then that bumps LeBron to the three right so that just that like the Lakers need a center it’s not such an easy thing to say that that’s the right way to go or the best use of an asset like D’Angelo Russell or ruy haimura yeah I first of all I think just they need a center who can play with ad but would be a legit option off the bench because you can’t have this team function with LeBron and AD without LeBron at the four ad at the five for the majority of their minutes it’s just that has become just glaringly obvious so to me me the idea of if you say you look to spend if the Lakers have a mid-level exception whichever size they look to earmark it for a legit Center that you know is playable let’s say you know I’ve heard uh Jonas Valen junis get brought up a couple times have Valen chunes be somebody who plays Off the Bench he his minutes may vary sometimes he plays more sometimes he plays less but either way he is Anthony Davis’s backup they can occasionally play together but then there’s always the possibility that if Jackson Hayes is all of a sudden your third Center and Valen chunis is your backup maybe ruy becomes a little bit more Expendable and Christian Wood becomes an option at the four you know what I mean like he he slides from being your backup center to your backup power forward and you know you provide you provide utility in other places different ways I think even but like just stop real I mean finish your point but like valent chunis at a smaller midlevel for example is that likely I don’t know I’m just I’m throwing out his name just because most people expect he’s not going to be with the Pelicans next year right and but my point is from there like you have to temper that though with is that the caliber of player you can get without sacrificing the a player that you have and maybe another asset to go with it and then again you have to start counting assets how many picks they can trade three picks um you know with would you have to include two of them to really upgrade because I’ll I’ll throw one other option at you um after the break about add that would address the question that you’re talking about of AD and LeBron playing together maybe the answer isn’t a five of that caliber of a valent chunis caliber because he’s a very good player maybe it’s something else and I’ll throw that at you next obviously what you’re talking about Andy I think I agree with you I think you have to you have to design something where LeBron and AD are playing the four and the five in most important minutes as much to for LeBron’s sake as you know ad’s preferred thing about playing the four over the five which I just don’t think is that big a deal anymore look I’ll be honest as much as Anthony Davis is I think the best player on this team and you have to start thinking about it more as his team and therefore you have to cater in certain ways that teams always do for Superstars to quote Don Draper that’s what the money is for you know what I mean like at some point it’s like dude this is where we need you to play this is where the team is the best this is frankly where you are at your best and it’s and and they and that I think there was very little chatter about that this year and AD didn’t complain about it and the talk about needing a better Center is really in the context of playing some with Anthony Davis when LeBron is on the bench but it’s mostly a better caliber player to back up Davis and then and like full stop or maybe occasionally like if you’re going up against Denver like somebody you throw out there a little bit against joic absorbs some of that physicality or you do that against sabonis or or whatever but but most of the time you’re talking about a backup like this is this is a nonissue like when whenever people talk about repeating the 2020 formula it drives me insane because on so many levels ad is not the same player as he was in 2024 he’s not as quick as he used to be he doesn’t have the jump that he had that one season which is kind of an outlier certainly from behind the arc and LeBron is nowhere close to that same player like it’s it’s done it’s over you need to find a new way to win a championship because going back what will be at that point five seasons is not viable right and everyone needs to stop with it and so the issue isn’t centers I think so over I I think you can make an argument the issue is size the leakers bger but bger doesn’t mean it means bigger and so how about this part of the reason the Lakers struggled particularly defensively is because Jared vandero was just certainly at least more than I anticipated way for hurt way more uh but also just way less replaceable with the pieces that they had around the roster than I thought it would be I thought they’d be able to at least approximate some of the stuff that Vanderbilt could do at different times times over the course of the season and they couldn’t and that’s a big reason the defense fell off so much because that is one of the things that lets LeBron function as a four basically without a another Classic Center on the floor so is the upgrade here trading ruy for a defensive Wing so now you have Vanderbilt and Def defensive Wing X who can mix and match you give up the scoring that that haimura gives you probably might give up some floor spacing or maybe you can start to package um you know one or two of those draft picks and upgrade on the wing instead of trying to be focused on upgrading to bring in another Center as a way to get your length as a way to get your size well okay let me let me ask you this and I bring up his name just because it’s been rumored he could be more available I know the Lakers and other teams were interested in him at the last trade deadline male Bridges were he available for the Lakers you know I’m sure you’re gonna you’re gonna have to find the salary to match whether it’s DLo salary plus all three picks you’re giving up all your stuff or or say you give up two of the three picks whatever like some type of say the Lakers can just for the sake of argument create a reasonable deal for M Bridges Where Brooklyn gets something legit from it but the Lakers aren’t just completely undercutting their depth of too much talent is somebody like Bridges you think there’s that sort of prototype good outside shooter very good Defender he’s not a star this was proven in Brooklyn but he’s a very very high-end role player somebody like that as opposed to going after someone who’s been an All-Star multiple times or a larger name versus Trey young or male Bridges it’s not even close it’s Bridges I would I would do I probably would do hypothetical try young deal which is what people assume would need You’ need the three draft picks you’d probably have to throw a pick swap in there you have to you give up all the stuff to get Trey young because while I think he is I don’t want to say overrated did I think he’s actually ragged on enough at this point that he’s a little bit underrated um but the problem with young in my mind is that he’s too specific not that he’s not good enough he’s just too specific a player that you have to craft too many things around to make it work and so I I just don’t I don’t and and I don’t think he’s gonna age well so um I but I would do all of that for Bridges I would do the same deal for Bridges despite the fact that Bridges is not the scorer that young is that he’s coming off a but this is why by the way I think I think most teams would I don’t think I’m I don’t it’s not a hot take to say that I I’d rather do Bridges and bridges fills that role for everyone which is why Brooklyn apparently has been asking for you know essentially the Donovan Mitchell package um or you know the gobear package or whatever it is to get Bridges because he is kind of that guy and would be a per perfect like you’d have to give up I I I can’t imagine Brooklyn would try to make that happen with Reeves you know like you’re not probably not gonna make that work without Reeves ruy needs to be there to balance the the salaries that’s a lot to give up well but that but that but that gets to but I think I would probably do that because I think Ruby is is relatively replaceable because he is fairly one-dimensional I you know it’s not that I think he’s bad he shot the ball you can you remember going back to the preseason I was a little I needed to see it in the regular season I need to see the shooting sustain itself through it did he shot it got better it didn’t even just sustain itself it got better with the playoff level like everybody was like playoff I mean he wasn’t step but he he shot at a very he was very good and it that was what I needed to see I was like is that real or is it not I need to see it it was he was and so he’s a he’s a good offensive player but overall I think he relatively one-dimensional and while Reeves isn’t Bridges is a better player and solves a problem for them that Reeves can’t so yeah I would do I mean in some ways Reeves is kind Bridges is kind of what you in the back of your mind is as Reeves fans wish AR was a little bit bigger A Little Bit Stronger better Defender you know all that kind of stuff Bridges isn’t the passer and stuff that that Reeves is but he’s better Defender and um feels a need you know so yeah I would I would I would do a package like that for a player like that who solves a real problem yeah I mean and bridges I brought up because he’s basically like a sweet spot between trying to get as much depth of varying levels as possible where like you feel like you can go one through nine one through 10 of legitimate NBA players which is by the way what the Lakers were looking to do this previous season it just didn’t it seem like that’s what they were on the path to right and had V and Vincent stayed healthy maybe that is the way the the season would have shaken out I mean we we spent the the preseason talking about how there were going to be guys who feel like they have the right to play who aren’t going to be able to and then there’s obviously you know there’s the depth play there is the Trey young Donovan Mitchell dejonte Murray Brandon Ingram like those level of Allstar or better players and then there’s somebody like male Bridges who is a very very high-end role player who is not likely to be a star may never even be an Allstar he’s an Allstar caliber player in the right season you know maybe maybe but let’s just say for this for this scenario he’s not he never is right yeah because I think framing it that way actually makes the question more succinct like he isn’t you know but does he actually ultimately F more pressing needs and then you have toig figure out do you have enough scoring you know can someone like Max Christie step up can you maybe keep D that here’s the thing it’s like you’re giving up scoring yes but like bridg is scoring 19 and a half points a game this season is disappointing in part because the percentages went way down um you know he went from you know in the 50s as a field you know with his field goal percentage in in Phoenix as a true role player um to the the low 4S last year um this after 47 and a half percent uh the year before the year before he averaged 26 points a game like that’s where you look at the guy and you’re like oh my God this is not just he’s like a breakout star he’s becoming a Stu take him that 19 points a game is a problem if you’re the Nets it’s not a problem if you’re the Lakers you’re you you are 100% correct you’re if that is if your third option is putting up 15 to 20 a game you’re fine you’re absolutely and critically while Bridge’s overall field goal percentage went down his three point percentage for the last three seasons has barely moved D it’s been between 36.9 and 38.7 like that is where the guy is and you know over and that that’s a split season in Phoenix and um you know basically he’s he’s a 37% three-point shooter almost on the nose basically for the last three seasons very consistent in that regard so like that’s the this is the type of player that I would I would empty the the coverboard for I think he is like the the he solves a a thing that dejonte Murray can’t because Murray is smaller um you know he’s a harder player to find he’s a harder player to find and Murray does some of these things but I think the wing size is more valuable um and so you know but I don’t this but Brooklyn knows this too and so but it it it is an interesting spin on the you know because we’re talking about hypotheticals now right it’s like in big pictures what do you see as the problem with the team and where would you try to solve it because I just don’t think the Lakers can do multiple depth plays that improve on the players that they have they can swap out players without giving up picks maybe but it’s going to be hard to improve just trading ruy or or even you know you know just sign and trade with DLo you can probably get something back for for Reeves um but even then you still got to get better Rey player you gotta get better you have to get better and also he’s got the lowest salary of all these guys so most likely it will be harder to bring back an impact player at a lower salary and you know the some of the tradable or contracts they have you know Vanderbilt especially Gabe Vincent you know these guys coming off these very sustained injuries like for the time being they may be tradable players come next February they could even be sought after if the Lakers for whatever reason thought that they could improve by moving either one of them but for the time being they don’t have much trade value because they’re they’re under contract for a while and they’re coming off really sustained injuries so right and and you need again you know the the idea is to get better and so right Bridges is a better player than Vanderbilt but you lose something with build going out the door too then you probably can’t replace that either right unless you can either draft well or you you your scouting Department finds a guy who who’s you know diamond in the rough type thing you can find a McDaniels type player to fill out your your rotation or whatever it might be but that again these are all tall orders the Mavericks got really lucky with Derrick Jones Jr he he’s a vet minimum signing who has been phenomenal this year and you know the last thing I would say is LeBron um in a in a podcast with uh someone that may end up as coach um talked recently about how yeah Stars ultimately move you through the playoffs I’m paraphrasing a little bit but the guys behind the Stars matter a lot like you spent a lot of time talking them up and you look at the playoff teams going on right now Dallas benefited greatly from just mentioned Jones Derek live Derrik Lively’s absence was a big reason Minnesota won and extended this series a little bit further PJ Washington has been huge there were times when TJ McConnell of all people was the best Pacer out there like Jaden McDaniels has been huge yeah you need you need and the in guys like Porter uh and Ander and Gordon not playing well against Minnesota that’s what got them out of the series so we can unpack the LeBron stuff a little bit more uh going into next week um do send us questions do send us comments leave them there on the show page on the Community section at cam Brothers lock on lickers on YouTube is where can go hang out with over 24,000 subscribers we’ll see everybody on Monday

Earlier this week, we noted an interview done by our friend Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation fame with Taurean Prince in which Prince stated his hope that he’s back with the team next season. He also talked about the team more broadly, reflecting on whether he believes they should try to run it back with continuity, or if the team needs big changes to contend. And while he’s not exactly an impartial observer (continuity is a vote for bringing him back, after all) the question is legitimate.

What kept the Lakers from more success? Are the ingredients there, so with better health, a little more luck and improved coaching, could the Lakers achieve more in a brutal Western Conference?

Or do they need a more dramatic overhaul?

If it’s the latter, does that mean building up depth? Or would that mean getting another star to run with LeBron James and Anthony Davis? Depth might seem like the preferable play, but how do the Lakers do that with the assets they have available? How can they take existing depth and use it to get better players? Can they add without giving up too much stuff?

And what problem areas ought to be targeted? Is it the need for a viable center? For a genuine defensive wing?

The answers are not cut-and-dried, and may not make themselves obvious for Rob Pelinka as he moves through the offseason.

  1. I came in when you were discussing us trading for Mikal Bridges. Why'd you talk unrealistic "hypotheticals" for 10 minutes. What a tease 😢

  2. This was a garbage show tonight…👎🏿

    I don't gamble… but I'll bet you… as long as Delo is a Laker… that the
Lakers won't win again until he's off the team……

A pouting cry baby of a man…….Laker fans don't like him…… we tolerated him…… and now he has ran his course.

What team wants a cancer like Delo on their team…… let them have him……..or pay them to take him….
Or……. just change the damn locks….🙋🏿‍♂️…. NOT JUST MY OPINION….I DID A SURVEY… AND REAL LAKER FANS SAID HIS ANTICS WAS CATOSTROPHIC TO THE LAKERS ORGANIZATIONS IMAGE BUILT BY DR. BUSS…🤷🏿‍♂️

  3. Lakers need a Better Depth & Keep Reaves, Prince, & Vando on there Lineup..

Imagine what if AD get injured, lakers need a replacement which is Lauri Markkanen will be a great fit for the them.. He can play alongside with Lebron & AR..His size, shooting & can play fast pace can help the lakers to be better..

  4. WITH THE COACHING CHOICES (terrible) DOES NOT MATTER WHAT WE DO…
(our window of opportunity is over and is esp. high with jj redick although there are
at least 2 "other" choices even worst)

  5. (with our coaching choices terrible) THE ONLY THING I HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD
TO NEXT SEASON IS WE DRAFT BRONNY THAT WOULD GIVE ME SOME REASON
AND INTEREST TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS (cause I already know whats gonna happen
in terms of "contention basketball" which is none)

  6. The Lakers need depth. They need two-way players with size, athleticism, consistency, and toughness on the wing, in the backcourt, and on the front court.

  7. These dudes clearly aren't experts just 2 dudes talking shit 😆 How the hell are u going to say the traditional center thing and AD is dead after watching the Dallas Mavericks win with bigs???? And Timberwolves took out Denver with bigs????? All the Lakers need to do is stay healthy and add a big. If DLO walks resign Spencer give him those minutes youll get the same points with BETTER DEFENSE and sign CP3 for $2 and u can win with that geniuses

  8. Blow this team up they freakin stink and especially now that JJ Reddick is gonna be the coach nothing else really matters anyway

  9. 2-Guard Austin Reaves is a poor finisher off SET PLAYS FOR 3-POINTERS off catch & shoot, so he hides that weakness by playing on the ball excessively. That makes it a HUGE MISTAKE to sign a slasher-style point guard like Spencer Dinwiddie.👎Spencer Dinwiddie was shooting 32% for 3-pointers for the Brooklyn Nets plus and even worse, 39.1% field goal average.

  10. Solution is simple and it has been stated by yours truly since last off season… And now we have ample evidence from these playoffs….
Playing big with dominant rebounding, vertical lob threat, paint protection is of paramount importance even at the expense of floor spacing and shooting….
So let DLo walk, sign an athletic big to play alongside and back up AD and elevate Max, Gabe and JHS in the rotation….
Get JJ as coach, Rondo, Handy and Vogel as Asst coaches….
This team can replicate what Dallas is doing…AD and Lebron duo is as good as Luka-Kyrie…

  11. If Pels take our pick this year I would prefer to blow it up and tank. Next couple of years there will be amazing talent in the draft and let's be real, LBJ and AD won't win you anything anymore anyway.

  12. We need help on more than one front, so I don't think bringing another superstar will help. We are better off making a 3 for 2 trade and bringing in 2 star level pieces and not necessarily an all star. We should either go for Austin/Rui/Gabe plus 3 first rd picks to Utah for Sexton and Markanen or Austin/Rui/Gabe plus 2 first rd picks to Atlanta for Murray and Hunter.

  13. Just spinning wheels here. Until changes are made at the very top (ownership and Pelinka), there really is no need to get all giddy (and I don't mean Josh!). Limp into the playoffs (if that) and 1-2-3…Cancun!

  14. It doesn't matter because Bum Pelinka/Kobe Agent The Worse GM Ever already totally destroyed this team the pass 4 Years and forget all you Lakers Paid Mouthpieces being to scare to ask him about the million mistakes he made as GM, but y'all don't even force him to talk to the media at the end of the season like every other GM/President of Basketball Operations around the league.

Garbage Rob Pelinka can just stay within the Shadows in LA for some reason making trash move after trash move.

  15. As we watch Dallas transform their team with 2 centers and find themselves in the finals, you guys are lost.

  16. They run it back and there first round playoff exit again at best!! 😅 everyone knows this, too many one dimensional players that can be played off the floor against elite talented teams! Don’t go for a star but better depth. Maybe get a couple two way players ROB PELINKA!

  17. Reaves is better than Bridges. Reaves will be a star next year with a new coach. Lakers need someone like Ingram at the three. Lebron can't play the three. The Lakers will need scoring in the front court next year. Davis and James will both be in Paris this summer. I don't expect either to play 60 games next season.

  18. It's time for Jeanie to step down and give another family member a go at it!!! Her LeBlame" and Rob have ruined the To Lakers franchise. People don't even know we could have drafted Fox , Tatum or Booker etc. instead we drafted other players. We traded our future away and I can't see us Winning another championship until we get rid of LeBlame and start rebuilding

  19. Love your show.
    Very well thought out.
Going along the lines of trading for Mikal Bridges…..would you consider bringing back Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma?

  20. Thank you Andy it’s done it’s over because Lebron is nowhere near what he needs to be at this stage
