For a team that’s looking to upgrade at center, the market isn’t exactly flush with strong starting options. Nic Claxton will likely command a similar dollar figure to Hartenstein’s expected range, sources said, although NBA personnel have long prepared for the Nets’ switchable center to remain with Brooklyn. The Nets can also begin to legally negotiate Claxton’s next agreement the day after the NBA Finals conclude, as part of the league’s new collective bargaining agreement. Cavaliers All-Star center Jarrett Allen still has two years and $40 million left on his deal, and that will leave no shortage of suitors for Cleveland’s big man after a rib injury left him on the sidelines during the Cavs’ second-round loss to Boston. Cleveland, however, has not been truly keen on entertaining rival teams’ offers for Allen, sources said, as the shot-blocker and rim-runner developed a strong on-court connection with Donovan Mitchell during a stretch of winning 17 of 18 games this winter — largely without Darius Garland and Evan Mobley. The Cavs don’t appear very motivated to listen to trade inquiries for any member of their core four, sources said, even with the possibility that Garland’s representation at Klutch Sports could move to request a trade if Mitchell extends long term.

So we’re not interested in unloading any of our core 4 for peanuts. Shocking
Good
Crazy how people think running it back will result in a better outcome.
At some point, you have to change something up.
I still largely suspect we see some move happen before the season starts.
We aren’t listening to inquiries because we don’t know what the core will be
It all depends on Mitchell in a couple weeks
Once we know his future plans then we’ll start shopping
I am all for trading Garland away, but not for the nonsense we would be getting. The market for a PG making that kind of $$$$$ isn’t very high right now. We need a scoring forward, and the return on investment would be…who? Keldon Johnson? No thx.
My preference is to get a coach first. They may have an offensive system that can accommodate the big 4, or a system that would dictate who you want to keep and who doesn’t make sense.
Yea this is a silly exercise. There is no substance for coming to conclusions about any trade talks when there is still basketball being played.
Yeah, I don’t think DG will be back in Cleveland. There’s been too much noise from Klutch and clearly the Cavs are looking to shake things up. If you anonymously polled NBA GMs on this, how many do you think would recommend holding onto Garland if you could trade him for a solid SF/PF?
No shit. Why would we make a trade before Mitchell makes a decision?
I mean we have JA on a 20m dollar deal which is a steal, so never understood why he has been floated so much
Sounds like smoke. You never say “we’re looking to have a fire sale!”
What’s the alternative? Making it look like we’re motivated to trade – that would be a very bad.
Let suitors come to us at this stage of the process.
National media: Cavs small market. Why Cavs want good players are they stupid?
Non story. Not like they are making a trade this week or next. They have to figure a few big things out and have limited bandwidth to talk about or spend energy on scenarios that will likely change as some of the bigger dominos fall. And rightfully so
First you fire JB, then you sign a coach Mitchell likes, then you sign Mitchell, then you build around him.
There’s an order of operations to the off-season. You need to figure out what’s going to happen with Donovan and who your coach is before you decide what you’re going to do with DG or Jarrett. It’s not rocket science lol.
People need to brace themselves for no major trade. They aren’t going to give Garland away. It’s very likey they run this back again.
