This Darius Garland Trade Proposal ISN’T THAT BAD

This Darius Garland Trade Proposal ISN’T THAT BAD

I think I think some of us are far underrating Darius Garland I want some nasty are we having fun yet all right this is going to be a quick video okay this this won’t be long all right I’m not going to stay on this for for too much I I just want to I just want to reiterate my thoughts on going after Darius Garland so I came across this article and it says potential trade targets uh merged for San Antonio and they mentioned uh Lori marinan obviously Darius Garland those are two names that you can go after they also brought up how Kellin Johnson he’s more than likely going to be on the trading block and you know it says despite wanting to stay in San Antonio is one of those teams who could potentially be dealt at the right opportunity though that’s not uh for certain but we’ve had quite a bit come out now that I think I can say with quite a bit of confidence that the Spurs are going to at least be seeing uh what they could get for for Kell um now really this is not a long video okay but Darius Garland I think that it’s a little disrespectful and a little shortsighted to say that he’s not worth some of the things that I’ve suggested so if I bring up the the Spurs uh future draft picks because I I probably need to reiterate this because I think sometimes uh we hear first round pick trade tra tradeway first round pick and uh it’s like Ah that’s too much clan but let me let me just break it down to you for a minute okay uh so what I said that I think the Spurs should give up is Kellin Johnson I don’t think anyone will dispute me on Kellin Johnson Darius Garland straight up is worth it right I don’t think anyone disagrees with that um possibly Malachi brandom if they need him and the reason why I say that is because we already know that they were interested in Malachi brandom prior now maybe that’s where you can say that’s a little bit too much but I think most people got upset when I mentioned the first round picks now one pick that I mentioned maybe the most controversial one is the Toronto one the 2024 eighth overall pick now the reason why I would be comfortable if it meant getting Darius Garland getting rid of this pick is the fact that I believe Dillingham this is just all hypothetically but I believe Dillingham would end up landing around that spot and that’s who you would end up taking and while I don’t necessarily think you need a superstar caliber Talent next to wimy at the point guard position you don’t have to have that it can be in another position right um and then and with the new uh uh player agreements it’s it’s a little different CPA is a little different um so you know it we’ll we’ll see how that pans out but all I’m trying to say is I don’t think you need that but if it means getting Darius Garland I’m willing to give away or not get Dillingham right cuz I think right now uh we would just be hoping that Dillingham could get to the level of what Darius Garland is Garland is a better you know while you not might not care about this he is a better Defender okay got a little bit more size on him and scoring wise passing especially passing wise he is a better passer better facilitator than what we’re expecting Dillingham to be even if Dy comes into the league he might not potentially start right off the bat right like that it’s going to take that would take some time um so I will be comfortable with giving away that eighth overall pick if the Spurs were thinking to get if it’s Dilly or Garland I would go with Garland even though I I love Dilly as a as a prospect that’s that’s just my thoughts on that now the other first round picks this is where I got a little frustrated okay a little upset um uh I I didn’t really understand because I said that another first round pick that I’ll be willing to give up is The Hornet’s first round pick which guys The Hornet first round pick isn’t even a real first round pick right it’s not even going to convey more than likely it’s not to convey at all protected 1 through 14 it’s not going to this is a fake first round pick so that’s a pick that I’ll be willing to give up I don’t think it’ll convey anyway and also the Chicago Bulls pick which protected 1 through 10 it more than likely won’t end up being a lottery pick anyways I wouldn’t mind giving away the Chicago pick so the only one that stands out that’s pretty rough will be our eighth but like I said if the Spurs are planning to get Ron Hall or modest buellis at four which we don’t know yet right or even Stephen Castle Stephan castle if that’s a player that they want at four then I don’t really see why you wouldn’t get rid of the eight for Garland I that’s something I just don’t understand and then like I said the Hornets isn’t even a real first round pick and then if you look at uh the Chicago one which it could be a decent one but that’s up in the air right we don’t really know what they’re going to do uh yet I don’t even know if the Bulls know what they’re going to do right now um you know they might try to bring uh demard de rosan back and in that case this would convey but they could potentially not and then you just kind of stuck I don’t know and then also I’ll be willing to give away you know maybe a few seconds if if that’s you know a deal breaker but I doubt it so yeah I don’t I understand that I understand that Darius Garland did not have a great you know playoffs right it it wasn’t the best um but with him coming off uh injury with uh all the adjustments that he’s had to make uh with Cleveland I his talent has been shown we know how good he’s capable of being I I hate the fact that you know we’re saying that he’s not worth a a few first one first that’s not even going to convey and then another first that’s not even a lottery pick it’s protected so I don’t know just to me I don’t think it’s that uh controversial to to go after that and the Spurs wouldn’t be losing much right you still would have atlantas I it’s not like I’m sitting here saying oh yeah I get rid of all of atlantas and our own no no we will still have our own we’ll still have atlantas um those should be pretty dog on valuable you would have so many second round picks I mean you got Atlanta swap in 2026 like you you’ll be fine you’ll be completely fine still in control of your future so I don’t know just a weird thing to me um but you can let me know you know what you’ll be willing to give up for Darius Garland and and don’t don’t say nothing okay don’t don’t say you really think that he’s just that trash like he’s so garbage till you wouldn’t be willing to give you would give up something okay you would give up something like and if it’s not Kellin in in a first or a future first then I I don’t know what to tell you man that that’s a that would be a a deal right there um and even with my you know suggestion I don’t necessarily think it’ll just take that I think they’ll want a little bit more than that but you know if if it’s it’s possible I I’ll do that in a heartbeat anyways get with you guys later till next time man bye [Music]

  1. Spurs Receive: Darius Garland

    Cavs Receive:
    Keldon Johnson
    Malaki Branham
2025 Chicago top 10 protected first round pick
2025 Charlotte lottery protected first round pick
Both of our 2nd round picks this draft

Keep the #4 and #8 pick

    #4 – Stephon Castle
    #8 – Tidjane Salaun

    Possible lineup

    Darius Garland
    Stephon Castle
    Devin Vassel
    Jeremy Sochan
    Victor Wembanyama

Tidjane Salaun, Tre Jones, Blake Wesley, Dom Barlow, Mamu

    Off the bench.

  2. Garland is an all star. If they can get him for an 8th pick (in a terrible draft no less) and some players you don't really want you jump on that opportunity, I'd be pretty shocked if Cleveland went for it.

  3. Klan quit while youre ahead. Garland is a more expensive DILINGHAM. Playoff choker 2 years straight. Add 1 real #1 and get Trae young. Garland is top 18 point guards. Not umpressed

  4. One thing to note about that "fake" first round pick. If it doesn't convey this year, it becomes two second round picks in 26 and 27

  5. No touching the 2025 picks. Those are untouchable for me, except the hornets one. That pick wont convey.

  6. First off, I will sayyou were 1000% right on Derrick White. I was wrong on Dejounte. The reason I say that is what you donā€™t mention that is critical is Garlandā€™s salary $39k.

As much as I would not want Dejounte back, I would rather have him back at $27 mil than Garland at $39 mil. Garland is not good enough to pay him that much despite the picks.

Despite OKCā€™s bright future there are rumblings how are they going to pay everyone in next few years.

We will eventually find ourselves there. Aint no effin way I want the Spurs paying for Clevelandā€™s overpay mistake.

PS. Once again, you were right all along on Derrick White

  7. You can't rely on that 2022 article about branham, that was before the draft, I doubt they are interested now that they've seen him play. For context, as a prospect Branham was projected as a lottery player, on top of playing in Ohio, that's why there's more hype then.

  8. Is Darius Garland 35MILLION dollars better than a Rob Dillingham rookie contract for a REBUILDING FRANCHISE is the real question. You'd be paying ~40 million a year and trading significant assets in players and picks instead of drafting a guy that would likely match Garland's productivity in the league. Purely based on the value of the contracts, having a talent like Rob on a rookie deal is just the better value IMO.

  9. Bro wtf do you think these players are worth šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Dorian Finney Smith has been shopped around for multiple 1sts. Not saying Nets will get that, but a guy like Gardland who was an All-Star, a proven scorer/playmaker, Keldon Johnson for Garland straight up is not fair and Cleveland laughs in the Spurs face. Adding branham doesnt make it too much, and the Hornets pick is literally a fake 1st that turns into 2 seconds if it doesnt convey which it wont. Why does every fanbase think they can get any player they want for nothing lmao this isnt 2k

  10. Trade both firsts for a starter, no specific position, and a first next season. Extra first rounders next season will have way more value

  11. Do not give those two second round picks up I want them to move up late first round to snag Ryan Dunn. You canā€™t pass him up with that defensive elite talent and if his shot starts falling sooner than later that could be better than your first to first round picks. Very possible. I hope PATFO do not pass him up

  12. When quizzed about the time frame in which fans can expect the Spurs to be in the championship conversation again, Ginobili provided a cautiously optimistic outlook.

ā€œItā€™s challenging to pinpoint exactly,ā€ Ginobili stated, referencing the teamā€™s prospects. ā€œHowever, weā€™re hopeful and confident that with Victor (Wembanyama) coming in and our position in this upcoming draft, securing two top tens, weā€™re looking at a two-to-three-year timeline to be significantly competitive. Iā€™m not saying weā€™ll be the outright favorites, but expect us to be in the playoffs and performing strongly.ā€

  13. I am 100% against getting Garland if they get Castle. I think they should go all in on developing Castle as a starting PG, ball handler, passer, playmaker, defender. Garland would just eat away at Castle's development. I do kind of like the idea of getting Chris Paul as a mentor if the price is right. Also, at 8 I think the perfect pick to replace Keldon would be Cody Williams who brings more defense. Imagine the starting 5 of Castle, Vassell, Cody Williams, Sochan, Wemby. Defensive masterclass team. The offense would need work, but you can teach offense, you can't teach size and length that Cody and Castle bring. Then I think we just build the depth in FA, or trade Keldon, and some future picks for more depth/cap for depth, etc.

Getting a fringe all-star like Garland I feel just kind of puts us in the Dejounte situation where we are middle of the pack… He is making 40M a year, why would we waste our cap going for him vs adding depth, building around the youth, and getting pieces that fit more.

  14. I agree with your logic and the picks to trade away. I'd even consider throwing in 2nd rounders. We have so many future picks we can't use them all.

  15. Would love Garland with the Spurs. I think coach would unlock another level Garland has. Cavs old coach JBB was a horrible offensive coach, super heavy picknroll offense, but a very good defensive coach. I just dont think the Cavs value Keldon that much. And while the 8th pick is nice, the Cavs are looking for talent to ride with Donovan. Maybe a 3rd team might be needed for the teams to fill their needs

  16. Some of these fans are prisoners of the moment, Iā€™d pull the trigger on that deal. Garland is already a proven commodity in the NBA we still donā€™t know what Dillingham is going to be like in the league. Sure Garlandā€™s postseason run wasnā€™t the greatest but his situation wasnā€™t the greatest to begin with. Iā€™d give up Johnson Malaki and a couple of firsts for him honestly
