[Music] [Music] we are live what’s going on everybody I am back and I am so happy to see you guys as part of the live stream for today’s episode of the Nicks recap podcast I know I’ve been away for a while unfortunately I had have some excuse me I did have some issues with my family my mother is not doing too well and I don’t know if you guys actually know this but I am a single dad I do have a son he’s autistic and he’s almost a teenager let that sink in for a little bit I think when you consider all of those things together you can pretty much understand why it’s been a little tough for me to try to get to these lives however I’m trying to make a more consistent effort to get to these lives more often for you guys I got a lot of DMS a lot of hit-ups people have been asking me hey Troy where have you been where are the live streams you want to see you go live you want to see your reactions we want to see that energy I told them you know like I’m I’m definitely coming back I I’m you know I’m working my way there and thankfully as of right now I’m at a place where I feel comfortable to get back to the lives and I’m hoping to do this more often I’m looking to do it weekly but if I can’t do it weekly then you know I’m going to try to do it as best as I can and not only that I have so much more content for you guys I don’t know if you guys know this but I have a lot of content creator friends they want to come on the show so we’re going to do a lot of collabs I know a lot of people as well too other journalists as well people that you guys know so I’ll be doing some special guest live streams with them too and a couple of random live streams if something comes out that I just want to react to so if you guys want to see that make sure you do that and shout out to the chat the Knicks we’re talking about reports coming out of everywhere what are the Knicks going to do let’s see here are the Knicks going to resign this guy are they going to let go of this guy what’s happening but you know where all of those reports converge it stops at one point and it happened right after the Knicks got out of the got out of the uh playoff excuse me where are the Knicks going to go from here where are they going to trade for and if they’re going to make a trade this offseason which by the way most reports already have the Knicks making that trade this off season if they do that what does that mean for us in terms of players that we’re going to move and who we’re going to Target well thankfully ESPN they actually gave us some information on who the Nick’s top trade targets are going to be for the offseason so we’re going to break that down we’re also going to talk about the salary cap and a couple of other things and I bet you guys didn’t think I was going to do been revealed and I’m very happy to give you all of these trade targets today I can’t lie I saw the list from ESPN man um there are some favorites of mine on there so I’ll give you that then there are some other players some questionable names on the list we’ll get to them because one thing we’re going to talk about what I’m going to break down the list of course we’re going to talk about each and every player the realistic possibility that they could be traded to the Knicks but more importantly something I want to Define today Best Fit versus best player we’ve been talking about this I feel like maybe for the entire season what type of player do we need is it it is it really you know the top Superstar level players is a Giannis level player going to come here and change everything make us a championship level team or if we go after the best fit does fit matter more that’s what I want to talk about as well and obviously I want to get to you guys I want to get to the chat gang you guys my supporters all of the great subscribers the reason I wanted to do lives the reason I wanted to come back the reason I wanted to do all of this was because of you and I am so happy that you can join me on this journey today as we break down exactly where the Knicks are headed because a lot of people are asking me well Troy they’re going to run it back right they’re definitely going to do that well yeah yes and no they’re gonna run it back to an extent I think their core stays the same but if you’re thinking that the Knicks are not going star hunting you’re kidding yourself shout out to my guy Evan C from I believe Sports Illustrated he has this account on the app X and he broke down Fred cats report and according to cats the Knicks internally consider this offseason the time to push their chips in for a star player via trade New York owns all of their future picks and their future pick swaps plus four additional firstr selections projected through 2027 and then the question comes up who will New York Target to appearer alongside Jaylen Brunson and you know what I think that’s the clear question here what’s the best fit for Jaylen cuz I can you can ask me all day if you’ve been a fan of this channel you watch the show long enough you know my guys right we can talk about it Mel Bridges Devin Booker and of course Donovan Mitchell a lot of other players obviously if they become available I’ll want the Knicks to go after them I think everybody remembers during the trade deadline I probably dropped the dejonte Murray video maybe every other day so if Murray becomes available I might be a fan but if you have questions for me after the show after we break down some of these targets please leave those questions in the chat but I want to hear from you guys as well in terms of Who You Feel the Nicks are going to go after who you feel the Knicks are going to Target in chat me in the in the trades because that for me is going to be something that we have to discuss realism here is a big part of it and sometimes your comments guys I love you but sometimes your comments you’re telling me we go after I don’t know LeBron James and some of these other people and when you say that I kind of scratch my head thankfully LeBron James is not on this list but without further Ado I know you guys have been waiting we’ve been talking about this ESPN list they released the list the Knick’s top trade targets for the off season who’s part of that list who made it on that list well let’s break it down according to ESPN New York these are the top trade targets for the Knicks we got Devin Booker Mikel Bridges Kevin Durant Joel embiid oh God Paul George Paul George and then Donovan Mitchell uh closed out the list so basically those are your top six the top six trade targets excuse me from ESPN New York regarding the Knicks and the players they’re going to go after now please make sure you leave a comment below and let me know out of all of these play players on this list who do you think the Nick should go after what player do you think the Nick should Target we’re going to break down each and every player to see who’s realistic and give you a when they was traded for when that deal went down Leon Rose spoke to his son Sam Rose and said Hey listen son talk to OG and let him know we’re gonna take care of him this off season maybe not give him the most money but he’s going to get paid but OG he’s not going anywhere let’s keep it going here uh we got House of uh Consciousness with a K I believe he got me there for a second I love your green or uh D Jones man those are a lot of names I want to really break down that comment we’re going to get to that I promise you and we’re going to break down some more of your comments because it’s flooding in and I see the viewers going off right now if you guys haven’t done so already it would mean a lot smash obliterate destroy that like button and let’s get it started because if we go back to that list we got Devin Booker starting off that list now starting on the realism of Devin Booker let’s go to the son’s owner son’s owner has already made it clear extreme ex extremely petty man he is not going to break up his big three so Devin Booker Kevin Durant Bradley be like Bradley Beal would fetch anything anyways it’s like people are talking to me the other day well if only they could trade Bradley Beal if only they could do it what what so what what could happen what would they trade him for a bag of chips what is he worth he’s not worth anything he barely played and when he played what did he do that son’s owner is out of his mind what’s his name Matt Sheba is Sheba whatever name is out of his mind now I understand you don’t want to B break up the big three I understand that there’s not really motivation for him to do that as well because they’re stuck look at where they are he also made recent comments about draft picks and he told his fans if you’re hoping that we were going to make some draft selections or think about 2029 or all these things we’re not going to do that now maybe he doesn’t care about that but the rest of the league they’re salivating over that they’re hearing this man say he doesn’t care about his draft picks from years for now regardless of the team he’s going to have at that point every team around the league is going to want to do business with you but unless you’re going to include Booker or Durant or one of those guys you’re not going to get really really any real bids you know what I’m talking about so I don’t see Booker really going anywhere and I honestly don’t see uh Durant going anywhere there’s no incentive for them to trade those guys and Durant if Durant is traded you want him because if you trade assets for him is he going to get unhappy again disgruntled again and go away and if he goes away what are we doing what’s happening this is the point you can’t trade for a Durant how many years Durant’s going to give you look at his age he’s a great fit by the way but look at his age how many years of good health and good plays he going to give you under head coach Tom thibo we have to consider all of these things when we’re trading for somebody this is going to go back to the thing we’re going to talk about later best fit and best player because there’s a major difference when we’re talking about going more into this Devon Booker situation shout out to my guy Howard Beck he is going to be a guest of the show very soon he is a reporter for the ringer he gave us the following update basically about Booker in towns and likely the Stars the Knicks are looking at or at least trying to go after this off season if Booker according to um Howard Beck here if Booker or towns or some discontented Superstar becomes available Rivals expect the Knicks to pounce again pounce not go after them pick up the phone pounce that’s the word he used but if the past four years have shown us anything it’s that the Knicks will take a measured approach and and having Brunson in the fold means they can negotiate without the former desperation you know what he means by that you know what he means about the former desperation when the Knicks used to go into each and every single one of these negotiations right you have to sell them New York but you also have to sell them maybe what we can do we just got to the second seed with a hobbled roster seeing Jaylen Brunson turning into a superstar right before our eyes what are you selling now you’re selling you want to come play with Jaylen right with three time allar Julius Randall right with OG an anobi right with what we’re trying to build in New York New York one of the major markets of the world talk about getting paid and getting paid when you get a contract in New York it does not talk about any of the sponsorships you get in New York we talk about jayen Brunson potentially leaving what $114 million on the table if he signs the extension with the Knicks this off season right but do we talk about the sponsorships he’ll likely recoup all of that money for with every other sponsor he gets because he plays for the Knicks because he plays in New York we’re not going to talk about that because it’s separate but to Jaylen it probably comes into play so a lot of times when players are quote unquote leaving money on the table Yeah they might be leaving it but they’re leaving it to get it somewhere else in other cases and Jaylen the way he’s playing Superstar status that Dunkin Donuts Commercial Is Not the Only commercial you’re going to see him in these cooking competitions are not the only things you’re going to see him in this brother he is going to get paid massively paid not the only one there are a lot of other players on this team that are going to get paid we’re going to break down all of those things in a second as well but um obviously going back to Deon Booker he’s not realistic at this point I love Booker don’t get it don’t get it twisted guys if Devin Booker becomes available Will Leon Rose go after him absolutely the rumor going into everything when Leon Rose was hired as president his basketball operations there were two names two names that came out Booker and cat cat has flooded the rumor mill for ages now but nobody’s talked about Booker because of his loyalty to the sons he also has that Mamba mentality shout out to co he wants to be loyal to one organization when you think about all of that it’s hard to see him leaving not impossible not impossible but hard to see him leaving that situation especially because he’s that type of character of guy and I think he believes he can win with the squad that he has and I think that owner is going to try to build try to build whatever they can around that team and hope for the best that’s all they can do they don’t really have any draft picks at this point so that’s that’s where I think they’re going to stand on the booker situation but let’s go to the comments see what you guys have to say excuse me over here let’s see here we got other gu saying what’s up recap what’s going on guys I feel you appreciate you uh let’s see here oh God I pray to you please don’t let him trade you elas Randle that’s IU I don’t think they’re going to trade Randall um I know this has been coming up a lot but they’re really is no incentive for the Knicks to trade Randall if they trade Randall right now his value is down he’s recovering from an injury he hasn’t played in a while and really from Randall what you want to see is postseason play high level postseason play is what’s going to get Julius Randall’s value all the way up it’s going to Skyrocket imagine Randall after a great season and a strong postseason run what is his value going to be way higher than it’s ever been ever before as a Nick and I I think that’s what the Knicks are likely going to wait for if you’re going to trade Randall but right now he’s part of the core pieces I still remember January maybe some people have forgotten but I still remember it and in January this Knicks team was running through the league and we didn’t even have bogie yet we didn’t even have Burks yet and I think we had those two players on this team at that point in time when we had Julius Randle taking so much attention down low you’re telling me they couldn’t look better or Thrive I think anybody looks better when they’re open and one of those guys would have been open with Randall drawing so much attention down low if you’re asking me what we were missing during the playoffs it was Randall Randall drawing two or three Defenders down low opening up the wing the perimeter top of the key all for our Shooters and our players that’s missing that’s why a fully healthy Knicks team runs through the league and that’s why I’ve been saying it I’ve been screaming it on every single show some people think I’m crazy because I said that the Knicks potentially when healthy next year could make a run for the number one seed is that crazy really what seed did we get this year let me think about that um two number two and we weren’t healthy so you’re telling me it’s crazy to think we couldn’t reach number one we can reach number one and Beyond with a healthy Nicks team we absolutely can by the way I know you’re going to ask shout out to my guy CP the artist for my attire today artist and if you want to support content creators make sure you get his gear but going back to this Knicks team like I said right now this team is in Prime position you want to know why guys because other other years we had to really throw everything at any store that became available because we needed as much talent on this team as possible to make us competitive right now we don’t need to do that do we what do we need to do now patience what does Leon Rose excel in patience what is he going to do uh be patient so I think that’s what the Knicks are going to do right now we’re not going to make any moves we’re not going to hear about those moves specifically yet until we get closer to the off season when Leon Rose can resign some players and then we get to see the Outlook because the players that we resign what we do with bogie all of these things are going to let us know what the Knicks are going to do in the off season when they pick up Bogie’s option which I think a lot of us believe they’re going to do that means they’re likely going to make a major trade you don’t do that unless you’re thinking major trade in your head and I think that’s something that they’re going to consider but we’ll wait and see what other options happen with Leon Rose in this front office let’s go back to the chat gang over here uh King D says hit that thumbs up for a recap appreciate you my the front office doesn’t want to get to that point Randall uh trade will be uh will be an option it will be and I’m not saying it won’t but it can’t be an option now why would a Randall trade make sense right now it just doesn’t because Randall doesn’t make sense right now to trade because his value so low again we got to think about who’s available the Knicks are not going to trade Randall for a role player and three picks that’s not going to be what Randall comes back for or a really good shooter and three that’s not going to happen you’re not going to trade Randall for that Randall gives you Superstar numbers if you don’t get a back a superstar for Randall in a trade it’s a failure you all know that it’s a failure but going back to this list over here cuz I do want to get back to some of these names here uh Kevin Durant I guess we can skip him for a little bit but I I know some people want to talk about him where’s the Kevin Kevin ran over here so we had an article that came out I believe it was a week or two ago this came from the heavy.com where NBA executive said that the Knicks are a prime candidate for a blockbuster trade to add Kevin Durant now listen for me again Fit versus player is Kevin Durant the right fit absolutely skill set wise he is shooting wise he is threat he draws attention everywhere and can score from anywhere no knock or shade to KD but the problem is you don’t only trade for that right trade d ex me tradd wow KD when you trade for KD you also get a lot of the baggage as well too and you get the uncertainty of will he stay or will he go and then if you trade assets and he leaves and then you have to get more assets for him when he leaves you’re never going to get the assets back by the way you’re never going to recoup assets for Kevin Durant look at the Brooklyn Nets look at where they are they traded KD their best player they got back Mel Bridges and cam Johnson look at where they their Outlook is right now they have no Direction they’re directionless you think any other team want to sign up for that I don’t want to do that I love Kevin Durant’s fit I just don’t like the baggage I don’t like what he would mean for this team in terms of how the fans would look at him or treat him how the teammates or the locker room would treat him how he would fit under Tom tho there’s so many question marks for KD I’m good on that and honestly he’s not realistic like we said because the suns are not trading him so right now not realistic and I’m very thankful for that because if he was realistic maybe Lon would at least entertain it right he’d pick up the phone at least KD that level of Superstar you pick up the phone and you at least have a conversation about him but this year we don’t have to worry about that let’s continue the next person on this list Joel embiid so uh Joel embiid here’s the funny thing last year they get eliminated right probably the day after they get eliminated the reports start flooding in and beid is a player to watch for the trade market for the Knicks going after him this year the Knicks eliminate the Sixers we see dirty Joel embiid start doing dirty Joel embiid things have you guys read a report about Joel embiid leaving the Sixers I haven’t have you guys read a report about Joel embiid coming to the Knicks Leon Rose connection any of that I haven’t and before the show you know because you know me I love to do my research I researched this the last article about that I want to say was a few months ago like three or four months ago can’t pinpoint it exactly but even with that article had nothing to do with the Knicks potentially going after him just all the connections that made sense that’s it so even back then there was nothing taking into account that the Knicks were trying to go after Joel embiid and as of right now that’s still the same so Joel to the Knicks it can be on this board all they want you can list them all you want I think Joel and B to the Knicks is done everybody remembers what this man did in the playoffs imagine that type of player coming to this team I don’t a lot of people will probably hate it it would probably cost a lot it would definitely cost you Randall and I don’t know if it would make you that much better and after this year with Joel embiid and all the injuries he dealt with if you guys know my feelings about Zion Williamson I’m not a fan of Zion I don’t like Zion because of the injuries he’s not available when you need him the most Joel embiid this year here he just checked that box he is not available when you need him the most and when he is look at what he gives you look at the player that he is I’m good on that and it looks like the Knicks are good on that as well too let’s go to the chat gang real quick see what you guys have to say um let’s see here we got uh Troy oh another Troy in the house shout out to the other Troy other Troy shout out to other Troy uh says when has Randall perform in the playoffs all right well you know other Troy took a shot at Randall should have probably read the comment before I did that I still do that cuz your name is Troy but still listen I understand Randle has not shown up in the postseason I understand that but listen in my opinion I give Randall with this Knicks team one year more for a postseason run that’s what I’m doing because you’re right we have’t seen him showed up but let me ask you something have we seen Randall ever surrounded by this much talent before on this on a Nick Squad because I can answer that question it’s no so if we haven’t seen that and he’s clearly not the number one option anymore he’s number two right behind Jaylen Brunson if all of that’s the case have we ever seen a a Julius Randall a number two option Julius Randall in the postseason we haven’t and until we have I’m gonna wait to see that I’m gonna wait and see what Jaylen Brunson this version of Jaylen Brunson Superstar level Jaylen Brunson and obviously this other Julius Randall somebody who’s built chemistry with jayen Brunson over the course of these last few months you know over year for the last few seasons I should say he’s built chemistry with Brunson we can’t hold that against them and because of that I think that’s only going to help that and contribute them to get better so in my opinion Randall is a key to this team he’s a core part of this team and you don’t move him unless you can get a superstar back but I appreciate you Troy uh let’s keep it going here though um I see you says preach brother oh that’s another comment I already read Trav B says salute my guy keep doing your thing Trav B is my guy man always with the the great songs The Great hits always giving us the great songs on uh Twitter or Instagram wherever you follow him make sure you’re following my guy during the season he was putting out some bangers for the Knicks always giving up some uh great uh rhymes for either Jaylen Brunson he was doing some great ones for divon exactly what I said Ben it will mess up the chemistry KD is a great Prospect don’t get me wrong he fits but he he fits everywhere I mean he’s a superstar he that type of shooting that type of attention that he draws the way he can command wherever he is on the court he fits everywhere of course he fits with the Knicks but not only chemistry concerns it’s locker room concerns it’s the baggage concerns how many good years of KD are we going to get likely that trade costs you Randall as well and some people will say that’s okay Randall is not as good as KD that’s true but Randall fits better here than KD does that’s my opinion but in your opinion you tell me who’s the better fit for Tom thibo or at least under Tom thibo with this current Knicks team is it KD or is it Julius Randall because I don’t think that’s talked about enough I would agree with you player player for player in terms of talent it’s it’s absolutely Durant but at this stage of his career where Randall is and where Durant is who’s the better fit on this team right now with Tom thibo because I think it might be Randall but I want to hear what you guys have to say let’s keep it going here uh we got some Randall he’s going to be doubled or triple team like alongside Jaylen Brunson and the same type of environment and lanes and opportunities that you get with Randall you might get the same with uh KD the only difference is KD and that three-point shot is so respected because he’s an assassin that he would draw out the paint so much more he would open up Lanes so definitely it would be different but again you have to talk about the baggage guys and what you get back it’s all about that so we have to consider that let’s let’s keep going here uh Brooklyn ow says run it back keep the team everybody had each other’s backs you can see where the fight is in each other um You can call this place New York home no one gave them a chance on their other teams but New York did is he wrong is is Brooklyn wrong because I don’t think he is but again run it back for me does not mean bring everybody back run it back for means run it back for me means bring the core back but you make notable upgrades where we need to upgrade like you bring in some more bench up that Tom thibo is going to play maybe you draft a rookie that we actually going to play or you bring in a veteran that Tom tho likes that’s going to see some playing time because some of the main things we need is a consistent backup for ogan and Obi in my opinion you draft that you have two picks this year you have to draft a wing with at least with one of them so you draft OG ob’s backup and then you go out in the trade market and you get the right fit to add to this team and if you have to trade Mitchell Robinson boan bogdanovich and some of these first round picks to do so you got to do it it’s fit right now and if the right fit star is here you trade for him Mel Bridges is made available and Brooklyn says you know what I’ll trade with the Knicks too Lon is going to do everything to get that man on this team there’s a reason I mentioned Mel because he is one of the players on this list I skipped them only because we were talking about Devin Booker and Kevin Durant and unfortunately they’re a package deal but let’s go ahead and move into the next player on this list by the way I am laughing right now I because you know this is the one I’ve been saying for a number of times now Bill Simmons has stated on his podcast that he believes Mel Bridges will be traded from the Nets to the Knicks this summer he say he states that I think that’s who they want I think that’s who they’ll overpay for you get that then you peer it with what the net owner Joi had to say when he said the franchise is at a Crossroads I’ve never heard a team that’s not going to experience major change before say Crossroads he says Crossroads means you have to do something you have to make a decision you have to make a trade let’s continue here and he also mentioned that Brooklyn’s roster will be revamped revamped this off season to compete in the long run rather than win immediately that means Mel Bridges if you’re looking to build around him is that really a long-term build is that what Mel Bridges signed up for because right now Mel Bridges he is in the prime of his career if you say send him to the right team he goes off but the right team is not building around Mel if you’re building around Mel I question your judgment as a basketball GM or anybody who knows anything about basketball at all Mel Bridges he’s the player you build around no he’s the player you add to a roster and complete it the Knicks are basically there you add Mel Bridges to Randall Brunson OG you find a way to keep iHeart Josh Hart and Dante de venzo hopefully you keep Duce McBride in this entire situation let me tell you this if they do that you’re telling me that’s not a finals team who stopping that team who’s stopping that team you might be saying to yourself what happens when they trap Jaylen Brunson it’s not like Mikel Bridges is garbage on offense he just can’t lead in offense he should not be the leading scorer but if you want him to be the second scorer or the third scorer on the team right behind Randall he can do that because if it’s not Jaylen it’s gonna be Randall and if it’s not Randall it’s gonna be Mel and Mel Bridges can operate as that third scorer how do I know that funny did he not do that in Phoenix with Booker and with aen because he wasn’t getting the majority of shots but why was his value so high Iron Man why was his value so high defense why was his value so high could score whenever you needed him too that’s why his value is high that’s why in my opinion when we’re talking about Best Fit versus best player Mel Bridges is number one there is nobody no one else on this list that fits better than him maybe Booker you can make an argument of Booker I’ll give you that I can talk about that but br over Durant in terms of fit over Booker in terms of fit over embiid in terms of fit over Paul George in terms of fit over Donovan Mitchell in terms of fit do you see where I’m going with this Mel number one they should fix that list Mikel is number one and then it’s Booker then it really should be Donovan not really KD but that’s where I am with the whole entire thing and given where the Nets are right now where they’re franchised the owner not the GM not Shawn Marx one of the worst GMS I’ve ever seen by the way I have no idea why he still has a job he has a job and he let go of three future Hall of Famers one of those Hall of Famers is in the NBA Finals right now Kyrie Irving whatever anyways the owner comes out and he says I want to see change if the owner is saying it we’re seeing it we’re seeing change Mel Bridges is one of their best assets right now cam Johnson very good asset best asset I don’t know I don’t think so very good asset but Mel Bridges is likely going to net you the most the only thing that the Knicks have to be concerned about really is just the Nets and what they’re looking to do in terms of other teams because if they get Mel Bridges and they make them available the Knicks are not the only team that they’re going to look at right they’re going to look at some other teams here the Rockets are going to come up and the rockets probably have the best I think probably the best chances to get Mel Bridges than any other team because they have more assets they have the better assets they can basically gift back the that’ss their future and if you’re Joe Sai and you really want to make a change to your roster and you want to get that future and build for the long term the Rockets make sense but that’s if they give up all of those things all of those assets are they going to be really are they really going to be able to do that are they really going to be able to give up all of those assets in my opinion I don’t think so I don’t think they’ll want to do that given the fact that Mel Bridge’s value is down so I think it’s going to be best offer available but the Rockets are the only team along with maybe OKC that can outbid the Knicks but OKC doesn’t need a Mel Bridges and even if you want to argue that other teams may be able to not a lot of teams besides the Rockets can offer better deal the Knicks can beat anybody in terms of picks and if they really wanted to not saying that they should but if they really wanted to you’re telling me they can’t offer a boatload of picks to get Mikel and still keep this roster intact and by the way for everybody telling me cap Guru cap Hell whatever the case may be if the Knicks are able to get that team and they become a second apron team they’ll do that they’ll be that team for that roster they’ll keep that team and pay whatever they need to pay in order to keep that r active and healthy because that roster gets you a chip it’s the closest you get to a chip we Paul George raised his hand and he said uh I want an extension guys Leon was like nope we agreed to trade for you we didn’t agree to give you mad money so that wasn’t going to happen so unfortunately we didn’t do anything with Paul George but as of right now if we’re looking to where’s that next got to find the next one there we go so the next slide that we have here is coming from obviously Evan cedy he comes from Sports Illustrated and he gives us a following update about Paul George and potentially him being an underrated Target for the Knicks the report reads as follows Paul George is an underrated Target to potentially monitor for the Knicks last summer New York was in serious contact with the Clippers leading up to the 2023 NBA draft if George decides to opt in and the trade route exists New York can create an almost identical salary matching utilizing players jti excuse me matching matching players Julius Randall and boan banovich George is also reped by CA and the power agency that the Knicks represent with Lon Rose because Leon Rose obviously helped run CA before he came to join the Knicks so there’s the report that we have here but here’s the thing here’s my comments on that Paul George for Julius Randall you want me to trade our three-time allar just made an All-Star team again this year even though he’s dealing with injury for Paul George Paul George not only is okay let me break this down a little bit better because I don’t want to kill Paul George he’s a good fit great player he actually played way more games this year than I thought he was going to but I’m trading for Paul George and giving up one of my best players in the process are you kidding me are you out of your mind I’m not doing that and aren’t they friends wouldn’t I want to pair Paul George and Julius Rand together wouldn’t that be the goal why oh why would I separate the two why would I do that it doesn’t make sense you want to add them together and it doesn’t also make sense because the cost of trading for Paul George will not make sense if he opts in and you trade for him that means you’re trading for what a year you’re trading for a rental you would be okay trading for one year of Paul George that makes sense what if he walks if he walks and you trade for him why did you trade for him then he left and maybe people are going to want to say ecaa don’t worry we’re definitely going to resign this that going back to resigning him you want to resign Paul George even if it doesn’t mean the Knicks get to the NBA finals or maybe we get to the Eastern Conference Finals and we don’t get to the NBA finals you’re still going to want to resign him you’re not going to want to look around the league and see if there’s better fits around the league you think an aging Paul George is going to help this Knicks team in the future we have to look at Age timeline who fits this Knicks team right now is it Paul George because in my opinion Mel Bridges fits this team and our timeline right now he is the perfect fit is Paul George how many games before Paul George gets injured playing the Tom thibo way because that’s the number one thing everybody’s gonna say in the comments right the number one thing that happens when the Knicks get Paul George how many games is he going to be active for is he going to be able to survive thibs is he going to be able to play 74 games this year I don’t know how many games he played this year I think it was 70 plus games shout out to him that’s a lot of games for Paul George but how many games would he play for the Knicks you got to remember the way you play for the Clippers way you play for Cleveland or all these other teams would you play that exact same way under Tom thibo no why would you Tom thoto style of play is different 40 minutes under Tom thibo probably doesn’t feel like 40 minutes in OKC probably doesn’t feel like 40 minutes with the Pistons probably doesn’t feel like 40 minutes who else doesn’t play defense with Charlotte right it doesn’t it doesn’t look like that doesn’t feel like that hard-nosed defense for 40 plus minutes not resting that much being in a very high level conditioned player because Tom thibo he demands that out of your team he demands that you are a highlevel conditioned player so you’re going to have to be that when you come to this team as well all of those factors coming into it Paul George surviving he might not even survive training k are you kidding me I’m not trading for Paul George unless it’s a deal that I can’t ignore it’s a steal or something like that it would have to be an offer that I could not say no to I’m not saying no to Paul George the player because I can understand why people would want to go after him but the fact that he’s do so much money the fact that you would have to trade up so many Assets in order to get him and his injury and his injury excuse me his injury history I don’t know guys he’s not the right player for me I don’t think he fits this roster as much as a lot of other people think I understand the scoring I understand that potential but if I had to trade for Paul George and give up Julius Randall in the process there is no way no way on Earth I am doing that deal ever ever Julius Randall understands Tom thibo and the way he plays ball Paul George doesn’t it just doesn’t make sense I’m I’m not even going to entertain it anymore we’re going to move on because obviously the next person on that list is one of my favorites you guys know who I’m talking about already Donovan Mitchell and with Donovan Mitchell I feel like the love AFF fear with Donovan Mitchell has settled down just a little bit I think some of you guys have felt it too I’ve covered it give me a second guys I’m taking a drink of water here excuse me um but yeah yes with Donovan Mitchell like I said before I think things have cooled off just a little bit with Donovan Mitchell because here’s the thing with Donovan at one point everybody had all eyes on him the reports were flooding out everybody had that the Knicks were going to land Donovan then this year happened then Jaylen Brunson turning into a superstar happened then Leon Rose started taking in more of a objective look if you will at this team and then started making the Right Moves by RJ by IQ let’s bring in the wing we’ve always needed ogan anobi you’re up now we have OG now the stars that we’re looking at need to make more sense they need to fit Donovan Mitchell in my opinion still fits because a back court of Jaylen Brunson and Donovan Mitchell it kills it goes off it destroys teams I don’t know how you stop that because if you take care of of if you excuse me if you take care of um Donovan Mitchell who’s stopping dein EXC me who’s stopping Jaylen Brunson and then if you take care of Jaylen Brunson who is stopping my guy Donovan Mitchell who is stopping spider nobody stopping spider so that’s what I’m talking about in terms of a back court that you can’t guard that’s why it makes sense and Donovan Mitchell would be a better Defender under Tom thibo he was already a good Defender this year he does not get enough credit for that I’m going to give him his flowers I’m going to give him his credit but a lot of the reports have already indicated especially from my guy Ian Bagley that the steam if you will the luxury or the the want the need the desire for the Knicks wanting to get Donovan Mitchell on this team it’s not as high anymore it’s down some and that’s likely because they’re looking at Fit versus player and Donovan Mitchell is no longer the best fit he is a great player amazing player but no longer is see the best fit I think a lot of things changed when Leon Rose kept all of his first round picks and was still able to add a player to the level of ogan and Obi because now the Knicks need to go out there and look for the right star and is Donovan Mitchell the right star anymore is Paul George the right star anymore is some of these other aging players the right star anymore I don’t think it is and I think that’s what Leon Rose in this Nicks front office is going to have to think about and deal with because it’s not as simple if we take a EXC me if we take a look at what the Knicks have to deal with this offseason and shout out to Bobby marks for giving us the following information we are committed in terms of salary of 156 million our tax threshold is 171.5 million first apron is at 178 and all of this is including both first round picks an OG and an obi’s player option and unlikely bonuses as well what we need to watch out for is the cost to keep the roster together obviously an and Obi and bonstein if they’re going to resign the extensions for Brunson and Randall the direction and the draft are the Knicks going to keep their picks are they not they obviously have 24 25 and 38 and in my opinion guys with the draft they are definitely taking one of those picks in the first round and they’re likely trading them depending on the player available if it’s a star player that they covet they’re not going to draft in that first round they’re going to trade both of those picks away they might use that second round pick and they might go ahead and and try to get some other players because again this draft is weak they had success getting a gem if you will in the second round before so because of that it gives them that confidence to think they can do it again and if you have the confidence thinking that you can do it again you’re absolutely going to do that I think I had an update actually from Twitter here for a second give me is this an update from Twitter this is an update it actually is from about iHeart let me read this real quick actually guys this is important I love when we have breaking news on the ual show this is great give me a second just scroll past it I’ll probably do another video on this but it says uh update um I Isaiah hartenstein could receive up to a 100 million in free agency what league Executives and cap strategists are projecting that hardenstein will be able to draw at least 80 million perhaps upwards of a hundred million from a team hoping to steal him away back to our guy Donovan Donovan Mitchell for me yes perfect in terms of a backcourt mate but no longer the perfect fit and and no longer do the Knicks need him or at least want to go after him as hard as they were going after him a couple of seasons ago so as of right now if we’re looking back at this list and I’ll go ahead and break it down for you Devin Booker I want him great player great fit but not realistic so it doesn’t matter Mel Bridges in terms of fit he is the best fit on this list I’ll argue with you all day he’s the best fit on this list after Mikel you have Kevin Durant Kevin Durant very good player not good fit Joel embiid very good player not good fit Paul George very good player not good fit and unfortunately I cannot believe I am saying this Donovan Mitchell very good player maybe not the best fit anymore maybe maybe not I’m not all the way there there like I am with Paul George but I’m kind of there I’m I’m a little bit there I can’t lie because Donovan Mitchell say what you want to say about him I saw what I saw this year I saw his performance in the playoffs in the postseason I also saw some games where he struggled against Orlando I was looking at those games thinking to myself well where is he and then sometimes him just playing so much herob ball and I know that doesn’t work so I did see those things as well I’m sure sure Leon Rose and the Knicks did too those are things you’re going to have to consider but that is the list guys once again of the top trade targets from ESPN in terms of who they think the Knicks are going to Target this off season and again there are some players that I love but there are players they need to avoid on that list Paul George is number one I’m sorry guys maybe you love Paul George if you do cover your ears Paul George is the worst fit on that entire list in my opinion the worst what do he won number one what does he do for any team he gets s to how would he play Under Tom tiido he used to be a good two-way player is he still a good two-way player how many more years does he have left and if I have to trade Randall in that deal am I still doing it worst on that list there’s nobody else no one but you tell me guys in terms of players not in terms excuse me in terms of player fit and best player available tell me who you think is the best player on the list and who’s the best fit in terms of player on that list because I want to hear from you guys and see what your comments are but since we’re at the last 30 minutes or so that’s going to do it for exactly what I wanted to do the live stream about today which is exactly breaking down each and every one of these players the realism of these players in terms of the Knicks getting them who I want and essentially which of these players the Knicks are likely going to go after and and if I think of EXC me if I think we break down this list properly and we did it right then I think you guys know exactly what I’m talking about the most realised candidate on that list at least for all players involved would likely be Mel Bridges only if he asked for a trade out of Brooklyn and says he wants to go to New York because everybody else nobody else is likely here you could also look at Donovan Mitchell as well he would probably be likely only if he doesn’t sign that extension but according to all the reports that we’ve been hearing out of Cleveland a lot of them are saying that he has LeBron James power in Cleveland and also he is going to get paid a massive contract that he’s going to accept in Cleveland as well so I think that’s why the reports have kind of died down with Donovan so if you look at that list maybe Mel is the most realistic at this point but it is going to take a couple of things to happen for him to wiggle loose and the Knicks to be able to get him but that is quite the list to talk about for the Knicks in terms of offseason targets but you guys go in the comments right now let me know any he did play and his playing time started to increase now maybe every player story doesn’t start that way but you know what I think over the years Tom thibo has bent the knee just a little bit and he started playing rookies just a little bit more if they’re the right players the right rookies whether or not they’re going to draft the rookie as anybody’s guest but you’re not wrong Tom thibo and rookies is kind of a death sentence they won’t they won’t see a lot of time they won’t see a lot of time to understand exactly what type of player they are I’ll give you that much let’s keep it going would be enough I think you’d have to trade boan likely in that trade to get Booker on this team and a lot more assets so even after you did the Randall trade you would not be able to do the bridges trade because I don’t think a lot of the assets that you’re suggesting I don’t think they would be available so in my opinion it’s a good idea but not realistic in terms of it actually happening and again I want to retain Randall why are we trying to ship off Randall why are we trying to take Randall and put him in the dogghouse what has Randall done in the last few years that has made him so hated I get the thumbs down but after that I think he’s done a lot to basically up his value and up his recognition with Nick fans he’s not been a complete hated player and a lot a lot of people have gotten behind him over the last couple of years and love what he’s doing and his impact he’s he again he’s part of the core you have Jaylen Brunson Julius Randall and then you have ogan anobi that’s your core you have Dante de vinchenzo Josh Hart that’s your bench and then you have other role players like MOS McBride obviously Off the Bench hopefully you can keep IH hard in this and then with the other you know players that you have other spots that you have you go out there and you try to get a star but the Randall hate has to stop at some point because I get that we want to upgrade the team I get that we want to get better and I understand if we’re going after a superstar player there is no way we’re getting that Superstar without including Randall but I’m not going to include a Randall trade unless that player on the other end is going to be a Giannis player or somebody of that level because in my opinion that’s the only trades that make sense if you’re not getting those type of players a Luca a Giannis a joker I’m not trading Randall because again he’s giving you super Star level type of stats look at what he’s doing if he’s giving you all of that the impact and what you get looking like he could be drafted then every single report is like oh my goodness he’s doing this he’s doing that um do I think the Knicks have a master plan of drafting Brony and potentially using him to trade with the Lakers in a way to get assets it’s a good idea I I wouldn’t put it past Leon Rose in this front office to do it but again it’s all about who’s available and if they understand that the player that they want they could potentially get in a trade so I think all of those things are going to come into factors I don’t know if they would do that I think they would probably go with that kid from Purdue if he’s available I know that guy that other kid uh uh Weir I think his name is Kell Weir that kid I know is available and I think he was projected to drop the 24 so there are a couple of kids that are on that list that you have to look out for and I think those players being available are really going to decide whether the Knicks actually use one of those picks to draft Brony and then think about potentially using him for this type of trade down the road but I think right now the focus is not drafting to trade and do all these other things because they’re not that team right now right now we’re a contending team when you’re a contending team the most you want to do is be patient and wait for that player you want that’s available to trade for so I think that’s cheap the value aspect is high for me because he didn’t play up to his standards this year we can talk about why he didn’t do that obviously dealing with a lot of family concerns the Hawks would be dumb to do it honestly it doesn’t make sense his his ceiling is so high that it would make zero sense to trade him but if all it took was a pick from this year to get a player like that but you’d also have to promise me that he would have to get consistent minutes under tiido that would have to be the caveat of that entire thing I’m not trading a first round pick this year and maybe you know a player or whatever it would take to get AJ and then he plays two minutes each and every game and does nothing because that doesn’t help me that doesn’t help the Knicks but if he can be that backup that we need to OG and Obi if he can come here and get consistent minutes maybe get 18 20 minutes a game yeah absolutely you don’t got to sell me on it I’ll do that because the reason you draft is to get Talent AJ is young as hell if you get him right now it’s basically like you drafted somebody and he’s already knowing NBA basketball he already has that level of play he already has balled out his first year had a great first year in the league so I remember that and I think if you combine that with everything that he could provide to this Nick team that’s already built to contend and him gaining that type of culture and experience you can sign me up for AJ I’m a fan but the cost has to make sense the Hawks are selling right now but it looks like they’re selling more capella more Trey young some other players are really protected so it’s going to be interesting to see what the Hawks do last I checked Trey young is the main player they’re trying to move capella as well nobody else is on that list but it doesn’t mean that AJ can’t wiggle away and just because they’re not trading Murray now does that mean if the Lakers don’t come up and say listen I’ll trade everything in my future away just to get Murray they might blow it up and if the Hawks team is blowing it up that means everybody’s available and that’s why patience here is going to come into play because if Leon Rose does anything he does patience very well and if he’s going to be patient the star that you want the player that you want if the Knicks really think he’s GNA help this team we’re gonna get him we uh besides David’s question we also have this draft is not as talented would you make uh would you trade this year’s first rounders for future first rounders that’s again coming from the official Payback all right guys so let’s answer the question about Tom thibo first Tom thibo cover your ears guys if you don’t like what I’m about to say Tom thibo is getting a longterm extension you saw what tyo got right roughly what he got I think Tom tho gets a contract up to that level probably around 10 million a year definitely tell me I would say definitely 10 million a year 10 million a year for Tom tho with the Knicks over a long-term for the New York Knicks he’s going to stay with us be the coach moving forward and maybe some people don’t like that because they feel like Tom thibo has coached to a ceiling and he can’t coach better and this niick team can’t get better under him and maybe you might be right about that but look at what he’s done each and every year with this team you can’t just let him go and just because you want a new coach nobody has yet named the new coach that if you brought him in would have the same impact or a better impact than Tom tiido this year has proven something to me and I didn’t think it was possible this entire roster has bought into Tom thibo and what he’s doing they bought into his message it started with Jaylen and Julius but after they did everybody else did and if everybody else is buying into what they’re doing then you have to look at why that’s happening that’s Tom thibo so I give him some props some praise I do think he gets extended and I do think without a doubt the Knicks draft this year but they’re not drafting in the first round I’m going to stay very consistent with that do they trade them for future first rounders it is a leon Rose thing to do last time we had two future first round uh two excuse me two first round picks I believe that was in 2021 and we traded both of those picks for future picks or later picks down the road could I see the Knicks doing that again yes now in my ideal scenario what I would want the Knicks to do they would trade one pick keep one pick and then they would go all the way to the second round and draft another player there and then depending on the offseason and what players are available trade whoever they needed to trade to get some deals done that’s what I think that they’re going with but in my opinion I think that’s kind of where everything is and in terms of um the Knicks and players that they should look out for this season this offseason that’s one of the last questions here the only player they should look out for is Devin Booker Carl Anthony towns and Mel Bridges Mel Bridges because of the Nova connection Devin Booker and Carl Anthony towns because consistently those two brothers have been linked to the Knicks so we have to realize that so those are at least my guys for this year and the guys that you should probably look out for but I don’t know exactly if the Knicks are going to give everything throw everything for Carl Anthony towns this year same thing for uh Mel Bridges Devin Booker I think that they might because I think that that’s the that’s the guy for Leon I think that’s his guy my guy might be Mel the Nova guys that their guy might be Mel but Leon I think his guy has always been Booker so if he becomes available that’s something to watch but because the suns are likely not going to do that it’s really not anything worth talking about we’re going to have to wait and see which stars become disgruntled and then go into that list and then at that point look and see and decide who the Knicks are going to go after but really good question I appreciate that I think that’s going to be last question guys I’m not mistaken I think my son’s bus is coming now make sure we check that message yes it definitely is and you know me as the great father that I am I can’t let him wait out there by himself well I guess I could
