Chicago Bulls Draft Targets Ft. Cody Williams, Stephon Castle & Dalton Knecht

[Music] what’s going on bulls fans welcome into the Bulls report and coming up on today’s show we’re going to be looking at the 2024 NBA draft and going over five more potential draft targets for your Chicago Bulls welcome in everybody my name is Patrick stepman let’s just dive right into it so the number one draft Target we’re going to be talking about today is Tristian day Silva from Colorado first two guys on this list are both from Colorado and the more I have looked into Tristan’s game over the past couple of weeks is you know I’m starting to like him just a little bit more and he was the focal point of this Colorado offense of past season as his usage rate was the highest on the team and as you guys can see he is a sniper from downtown shooting 39 a half% last season from behind the arc 16 points a game five rebounds and also pretty efficient from the floor as well shooting 50% from there but some more SC Ting on to Silva so he is 23.1 years of age so he is on the older side of a draft prospect and you know we’ll make this point I think we’ve seen over the last couple years um a change in how these GMS are evaluating players coming out of college because if you guys remember we had a stretch of like eight years where if you were above the age of 20 you were not getting selected in the lottery now it’s all changing now we see guys like Aime hakz last year you know an older player in college but come out right away and be super effective for that Miami Heat team but he’s got good size 6’8 6’1 wingspan and a big Pro of him he’s a great floor space I should have put great right there instead of good um he’s just got overall great feel of also playing off ball and just kind of filling the lanes very well and just in the right way he just plays winning basketball and that’s what I like about the most um negative for him he’s just not really that Elite of an athlete but I do think his size can kind of mass some of those issues now I do want to show you guys this graphic I saw this on Twitter I think it’s absolutely awesome just breaking down every different type of shot type that he has taken this past year so as you guys see a lot of his three-pointers did come from the catch and shoot category as he did shoot 41.3 or 38% from downtown off the dribble threes only took 19 of them um and he was 4 and 19 so not his strength but I think this is key here NBA 3es Corner threes offscreen threes and also unguarded catch and shoot threes he was above 40% on all of those and you know especially the three Department him shooting 18 to 45 there you know a lot of the NBA offenses like if these you know most possessions if it is taking up the whole shot clock most of them will end in a catch and shoot three just off dribble penetration so I thought it was great you know a good sight that he was shooting 40% from there and also the Deep threes I mean 36 of 83 from NBA three-point land is just fantastic and overall the Silva is moving up my draft board for the Chicago Bulls I didn’t really do too much research on him when the bull uh after the draft flattery when I found out the Bulls did have the 11th pick I just didn’t really think the Bulls would have targeted a 23-year-old forward but the more I look into him the more I like him and if he’s to pick at 11 I would actually be pretty thrilled about it but let’s move on to his actual teammate Cody Williams here also another Colorado Buffalo and I’ll say this he’s pretty much the complete opposite of Tristan D Silva um you know Tristan being that older Prospect who’s more ready to win now Cody Williams is that is the exact opposite um he’s 19 years old um and he just plays the game differently than Tristan uh he’s 6’8 as well 190 lbs my Pro Comp for him was a guy like Jaden McDaniels and that long super athletic Wing that can guard multiple positions on that side of the floor and his biggest strength in my opinion is his finishing and his defense um especially in the live action in the transition game he does a great job of cutting to the rim and finishing at The Rim but a weakness I have for him is overall shot creation like I didn’t really see any plays from last season when he was with Colorado where he was taking multiple dribbles getting into his jump shot which you know could be views a viewed as a positive thing that he’s a self-aware basketball player but you know I just don’t think he’s going to be that guy in the NBA where it’s like hey you throw him the ball and it’s like you got to go get a bucket he’s more of a flow of the offense type of player while also being Elite Defender but hey in 28 minutes a game last season he was really good for Colorado and you know you see the three-point shooting number is at 41 a. half% I don’t want to call this a fluke but coming out of high school he wasn’t known as a shooter and maybe it’s just like it flipped for him and now he was able to knock it down from downtown so I’m not going to say he’s a going to come in the league and be a dead eyee shooter by any means but still a positive sighting uh that he did shoot 41 and a half% and listen he is still my Top Choice like if I had to make the pick at pick 11 for the Chicago Bulls I would be taking Cody Williams just because he just fits such a need on this Bulls roster of that athletic Wing you know the one uh the one negative I will say that’s kind of giv me a little you know PTSD is his one dribble pullup is so similar to Patrick williams’ and it you know pu dub I’m a fan of Patrick Williams but I just I just still think man that uh you know when you have that type of player like where it’s those hyper athletic Wings you got to have a one dribble pull-up game because you know when you’re on offense like you’re either going to be getting a catch and shoot three or and you know you’re going to be a to put it one time on the deck his is just very slow he’s got to really come to a set base which in the NBA obviously you know you won’t have that amount of time but still Cody Williams if I had to make my pick at 11 it would be him now let’s get to number three here Stefan castle and this is kind of a I would say this is a pipe dream for the Bulls I don’t know if he will be there at pick 11 but if he is you know actually he’s probably my top choice and uh he just plays winning ball man uh you know I’m going to compare this Yukon huskys two-year run to like the villain NOA run that was a couple years ago you know both Big East teams and uh both had just a bunch of players who you know just play the B uh game of basketball the right way and that’s what Stefan Castle is so he was a f-star recruit before coming to Yukon this past season and I love the kind of self-awareness he showed um when playing for the Huskies last year you know he wasn’t trying to make it about him he just kind of fit in the flow of the offense and he was still effective you know scoring 11 the game uh four rebounds you know three assists pretty efficient couldn’t really shoot it from downtown but you know he knocked down a couple shots in the tournament and at the combine his measurements were really solid and this was I don’t want to say I was you know skeptical of how this would turn out but I didn’t think it was going to be this good um coming at 6’6 almost 6′ 7 6’9 wingspan standing reach of 86 and that Burt at 37 in I guess maybe just didn’t really show it off too often with the huskys last year but overall he’s a really good athlete he’s going to have to develop you know more of an offensive game but in terms of a you know again like a need for the Bulls it’s these forwards it’s these kind of bigger guards that I think Chicago needs so castle for me he would be number three you know on my list as it stands right now but before we dive into the two other names guys I do want to tell you about today’s sponsor and that is prize picks and with prize picks you could turn $10 into $1,000 in a single game picks daily fantasy sports Made Easy all right let’s talk about another older Prospect here and this is Dalton connect from Tennessee and if you guys watched any college hoops this past year this man took over the college basketball scene and especially in the tournament tournament man he was absolutely fantastic but he did play with the Tennessee Volunteers this past season and you know he is on the older side as well he is 23 years old but you know I think he would be a guy very similar to how haimi hakz was last season he would be an instant impact guy for whatever team drafts him but he is 6’6 sneaky 6’9 wingspan and he reminds me a lot of Gordon Hayward when he was coming out and you know I think people just view connect as just a three-level score and a three-level shooter but they don’t realize the athlete he is and you know Gordon Hayward coming out of Butler he was an elite athlete as well but some of his strengths are his shooting you know he can knock it down from all three levels shot 39% from downtown this past season weaknesses are definitely going to be defense and this is going to be the biggest question with his game translating to the NBA is how will he able or how will he be able to guard on the perimeter against these you know obviously there’s such talented guards and wings we have in the league right now but you know he put up unreal numbers last year at Tennessee man I mean you know in 30 minutes game him averaging 31 points a night is f or 21 points per night is fantastic shooting the ball really well um as always at 39% from downtown but Dalton connect he would be instant offense if the Bulls drafted him and you know any of these guys I’m talking about today like there is not one guy that is Head Over Heels like obviously my Preferred Choice would be Cody Williams but even if it’s dton connect I would be thrilled as well now let’s talk about The Tick Tock star Jared McCain the guard out of Duke um Jared McCain’s an interesting Prospect I will say that um he’s an absolute sniper like he can light it up from downtown he’s got a super super quick release on his jump shot and he was able to shoot 41.4% from downtown last season and just some pros about him like like like I just said he’s got a super quick release like it literally goes up and probably half a second and his shot form is also very repeatable he’s got a super solid base when he does shoot so it’s just easy one up one down and uh he can knock it down at a high quip as we just saw but he also moves very well laterally and he can defend you know I like using uh it’s kind of like a fire hydrant a little bit where it’s like his center of gravity is super low a super compact Defender so when guards are trying to turn the corner on him it makes a whole lot of a difference if you know you’re hitting a strong chest in comparison to hitting a weak chest he’s got a strong chest and he’s able to Main maintain his base really solid but you know what con I have for McCain is you know what position is he going to play cuz I don’t think he’s a point guard and I don’t know if he’ll be too small to be a shooting guard in the league cuz considering he’s not that vertical of an athlete and he’s not the best finisher around the rim so you know that’s going to be his biggest question mark and honestly just me being the hoop head I am like I’m just curious where he’s going to play in the NBA cuz he’s a super talented player great jump shot but like where is he going to fit in you know that’s going to be the biggest question on him but I just gave you guys five names you guys just got to give me one who do you want the Bulls to draft I had to pick it right now still go Cody Williams but if Stefan Cass was there at 11 I’m taking him as well but any of those five names we just talked about today I would be thrilled with the bulls taking them you guys let me know who do you want the Bulls to draft and uh we’ll see you guys next time as always uh go Bulls [Music]
