This links us to OG Anunoby in a kind of best case dream scenario.
But personally, this is how I would like to see the Jazz make some moves – get an under-the-radar up and coming star to develop into the next step. Like the Knicks did with Jalen Brunson. Or like we just did with Lauri.
Since we’re obviously not going to bottom out enough to get a top 5 game changing draft pick and there really are no stars immediately available that both fit our timeline and move the needle, I think identifying and developing this type of talent is our next best step until the current landscape of the West changes.
Really I’m just grasping at straws because it seems like after two years of half tanking and a war chest of assets we don’t really seem interested in spending, we’re STILL stuck in no man’s land.
Also I’m just desperate for more Jazz basketball and there’s nothing else to talk about right now 😭

Just pick up an up and coming young star huh? Sounds super easy.
OG would be the best free agent the jazz have gotten in their entire history. Don’t bet on it.
I bet he wants to win a title and we aren’t one OG away from a title.
If we could get randle on the low I think that would be a fun move, and more realistic. People are pretty down on him, but he was an all star last year. Then again I don’t want to be the team collecting former all star power forwards. (John Collins)
I bet next season is very similar to this one, but next year’s draft we have 3 picks. All it takes is a little bit of luck for our a #8 pick to turn into a #2-3 pick like what happened this year. Also the jazz have been known to trade up for guys they like.
Depending on how the Cleveland Donovan Mitchell thing turns out, that could be a near lottery pick next year. I think the team without Donovan will be a play in team. Garland is not an all star player like he was 2 years ago. Mobley is lost on offense and Jarrett Allen crowds the paint.
All it takes is an injury or two and Minnesota is a lottery team as well. They might trade kat or gobert for luxury tax reasons alone, and that bodies well for us. Mike Conley is 37 next year and is constantly injured. There is a decent chance minny is like a 7-8 seed. Memphis will be back next year, and I’m sure golden state will be better too.
You don’t need a top 5 pick to get a superstar, and we have lots of chances.
In a weird way I feel like this year is our best chance of getting the number 1 pick. It’s a “weak draft” so it *should* be more affordable, and Atlanta seems to want to trade it for talent… but we’d probably have to part with Lauri as part of the deal. idk, it’s tough.
