for Donovan kingan also got a look at the Zack LaVine trade price per Casey Johnson it may have dropped and Demar D rozan is the Lakers dream all that more coming up [Music] you are locked on bulls lockon NBA and use the code all lowercase locked on NBA for a first deposit match up to $100 so a report is out there now that the Chicago Bulls may be interested in trading up for Donovan kingan this is very interesting because the Bulls would have to go essentially a good distance for them to be assured that they get up there the report comes from ESPN’s Jonathan Gavin on uh Chicago Bulls trading up he says there’s chatter around the league that the teams such as Portland Memphis and Chicago might look into moving up to draft klling in earlier than this but in this mock draft scenario he falls right into the Trailblazers lap kingan brings size length effective defense prow a defensive prowess non-stop intensity and passing ability along with a back-to-back National Championship pedigree he has plenty of room for growth alongside the Blazers core at just 20 years old this is very very interesting because of a couple of things right when I look at Donovan kingan’s game do I see somebody who I would say is the most elite rebounder in the uh in the game right now I don’t know if I’d go out there and say that and if I’m looking at a big man that’s something that I do look closely at but what I will say about Donovan kingan is uh I agree with a lot of what was said there he is a rim Runner he’s somebody who I believe uh gets up and down the floor very well I think that he is a rim protector and that’s something the Chicago Bulls have not had for a while outside of maybe Andre Drummond in some sporadic moments because of either him being in foul trouble or lack of views from Billy Donovan both things could be true uh and we’ve seen both things kind of Be True in the sense of the word but to me Donovan kingan is most interesting because I think that he is in a draft where you’re sitting there saying I don’t know if there’s any stars here I don’t know uh uh if there are any if there’s anybody that I see that has Superstar potential or that has you know this guy’s gonna be a 15-year uh Al Horford type of player right I don’t know if that guy is here especially when you’re talking about the big man position but what I do see is if the Bulls were to trade up in this draft if you’re going after Donovan klling and you’re essentially going after the best of the best that this draft can offer now of course Alex star is number one but outside of that I think you still kind of get like that that you’re getting the top talent that you can get in this draft now is this the draft to do that that’s the real question and I think that’s the part where for me right if you’re sitting at 11 and we end up with Kyle filipowski am I am I that upset right now no am I upset 10 years from now maybe but right now right I think Kyle filipowski is not a bad name for the Chicago Bulls to be able to go out there and get um but if you’re going to trade up if you want to attack this if you want to come out of this with one of the best players that you can Donovan kingan is that player and that does make this very interesting to me to hear and my brain instantly goes okay who are the teams that you got to trade up with and the reason that that that part of the article where it talks about Portland uh the the pick basically falling to Portland is so interesting because Portland’s sitting at seven right now so Portland doesn’t have to do anything to move up for kinging if he ends up falling to them more than likely right so you would think kingan’s probably going between that 3 to seven range where do you see the Chicago Bulls kind of fitting in there and maybe being able to get a draft pick out of that right and so the first team I go to listen let’s get right ahead of the Portland Trailblazers if we’re going to do something let’s put ourselves in a position to be above them uh and that’s the Charlotte Hornets the Charlotte Hornets you can trade a little bit less too um the part that sucks about this and I’ve said this if you’re going to make any trades this off season uh you’re trading for Alex Caruso right I I think the teams here are trading to try and add an Alex Caruso into the mix and so I’m instantly calling the Charlotte Hornet there directly in front of the Portland Trailblazers who sit at seven right now I think that when you look at Portland in this conversation um they probably would stand Pat right now I I know that there there’s this belief that they may move up but like again are they willing to risk future capital for a maybe Draft when they need to try and start hitting on someu or maybe need to try and start you know just start building your team out as a whole and start developing some of the players I think they may be a little more hesitant they may be a little less desperate which is nuts to say to go up and get a Donovan kingan and maybe more willing to sit there so at six right now you got the Charlotte Hornets um and I think you’re talking about a trade of Alex Caruso and possibly that Portland pick more than likely that Portland pick and a future second round pick the Bulls next second round pick would be in 20 28 I think something like that could get the deal done because they have young players on that Charlotte team already you have young players that you feel can be stars on that Charlotte team already and so you need to figure out the coaching situation first and foremost but uh because I don’t I don’t know if you got the right guy again you know it is what it is but but I think that um when you’re looking at a guy like lamelo ball when you’re looking at Mark Williams when you’re looking at Brandon Miller when you’re looking at guys that are already there you’ve got the young guys in place you need something like what the Bulls are trying to do here with Alice Caruso that veteran presence that’s going to come in and that’s what they had hoped Gordon Hayward was gonna be but Gordon Hayward couldn’t stay healthy on the floor but that veteran presence that comes in says yo I’m not taking No Nonsense I’m not taking No Mess we’re gonna figure this out uh and and we’re GNA make this thing work you have to work with me I think there may be a chance as well that Alis Caruso signs there because of the young Talent that’s there there means there’s that means there’s more longevity there now the coaching situation I don’t know if that would play a factor in that but I think that Charlotte would be open to taking back Alex Caruso because you’re talk and and the future uh uh picks because you’re talking about still getting draft capital for the future and you’re also looking at that team and saying we got to find a way to start adding some guys to this team who are going to elevate the work ethic of this team remember last season they getting beat by like 50 and they’re all sitting on this on the bench KY keing oh my God it’s the greatest thing ever I can’t believe we’re getting beat by 50 but we’re all millionaires you know what I mean like that’s kind of the vi at least that’s the vibe that was given off when you’re getting your head kicked in you’re not worried about the game you don’t care about the game that’s going on and so I think maybe Alis Caruso comes into the room and you’re hoping that he’s able to elevate that heading into next season let me know your thoughts on a Charlotte trade would you make that deal the other deal that I think would be in place and this was an interesting one uh because I remember as soon as the season ended uh we got a message from host of uh from host the locked on Rockets basically saying uh Caruso and 11 for three uh and I think that’s what it would cost and I would absolutely be in on that there’s already Talent on that team there’s already uh young players on that team who have taken a step forward I may udoka has finally gotten the through the rest of everybody’s head in there that Hey listen uh uh um alfine shenon is the best player on this team we’re not going to keep mistaking this he’s going to go out there and be our guy you’ve already got Dylan Brooks on the team you’ve got Fred Van vet you can get uh uh uh Alice kuso in there a little bit of money extend him that’s another spot where you are definitely in the playoff race if you possibly add Caruso into that mix you’re also getting 11 which means you still have the ability to add a young player in I think that that’s also a deal that I would be willing to do because now you’re getting three in that scenario and the reason that I say that is because like I said Portland may not be desperate Portland may not be they shouldn’t be in a position where they’re like we’re going to get rid of all these future assets to try and move up in the draft and add to this team but if there’s anything that we’ve learned from Portland over the time that Portland has been a team it’s that um they make bad decisions they pick the wrong guys they do the wrong things you know what I’m saying like if there’s anything we’ve learned about the Portland Trailblazers over the existence of this team they don’t make good decisions so do I think that Portland shouldn’t trade up and possibly should stay at seven and maybe develop the guys they have of course I do do I think that they’re that smart no and I don’t believe that Portland will trade up into those top two picks or have the players to send out that I think would interest any of those teams in those top two picks and so to me three is kind of where the question marks start to begin on a player talking about Alex SAR of course going number one Andor Zachary Rashard going number one either way uh number two is going to be one of those two as well three is where the conversation kind of opens up and if you’re interested in Donan kinging I would absolutely uh say the Bulls should go out and and if that’s the trade you want to make I’m sorry if if you’re going to put yourself in a position where there’s no chance Portland can get up there with you three is the spot or mempis right but three is the spot where you can do that and I think that that would uh that would secure the Bulls the player they want if that were to be Donovan kinging um but I think that’s a deal that gets you three at a minimum let me know your thoughts in the comments below I’ll be down there talking with you guys as well before we get into this next topic about Zack lavine’s trade price dropping per Casey Johnson we got to tell you guys all about our next sponsor and sponsor on this week’s show is prize picks listen we’ve been telling you guys about prize again pardon me while I take a quick Swig of water this is a thirsty show when uh when Hayes is not here thank you thank you for that thank you for that quick second for me to refresh myself as we get into this next topic Zack LaVine pray uh trade price reportedly going the wrong direction according to KC Johnson uh he said this uh in his mailbag recently I do get the sense that both sides are motivated to make something work this off seon I don’t think the Bulls will take an awful deal if little materializes but I do get the sense they’re open to the possibilities than uh open to more possibilities than before more to the point I’ve reported before what their asking price was All-Star level Talent first round picks or both and my sense is that it has dropped significantly and listen here’s where I start with this uh AK horrible horrible job gming uh when it comes to Zack LaVine I’m sorry I understand and I am one of the few people at least this is my belief on how things have worked out right I understand that you had to sign Zack LaVine I believe that there is a stigma that has been around the Chicago Bulls that the Chicago Bulls will use you abuse you and then spit you out and I think that stigma was starting to die off it happened with Jordan right remember everybody was talking about you know you couldn’t pay the best player in the world you couldn’t find a way to put you know more money in the best player in the world’s pocket throughout his NBA career so it happened with Jordan and it started to die down and then all of the sudden right you get the Derrick Rose conversation you get the hey you guys kind of turned your back on your own why would I want to come to Chicago why would I want to be uh uh in a place that is willing to turn their back on their their own player and I understand previous regimes previous uh uh people who were working uh uh uh in that front office all of those things take account right but in the players Minds that are signing there you’re the Chicago Bulls and so AK kind of wanted to set this precedent in my mind that listen we’re going to be more loyal to the guys that have been here I’m going to pay Zack LaVine to be here because because one the money around the NBA is going astronomically through the roof and so if he’s at a minimum healthy and still playing at a solid scoring level will be able to move him that has not been the case he has been injured most seasons since he has signed the contract almost all of the Season since he signed the contract he has played through some of that injury but he has not played at the same level when he we’ve kind of seen those moments where he looks like the 28 point per game Zack LaVine those nights have also ended in losses at times because there just wasn’t enough production around the rest of the team when he was scoring At His Highest but I say all this to say I think that the Bulls went into this Zack LaVine signing with the intentions of we’re going to change the mindset that people have around the Chicago Bulls in totality which I am willing to give you leeway on that’s just me I know a lot of people don’t like that but that is my opinion on that I’m willing to say I understand why you did that where my problem comes in is where you saw things going south deals were offered to you that you could have absolutely turned this entire franchise around with and the Zack LaVine trade to New York is absolutely one of those where you could have got a good chunk of the players that we just saw playing well in the playoffs for the uh uh um for the New York Knicks you could have got some of the players who played solid down the stretch at the end of the season who were traded to the Toronto Raptors of course RJ Barrett was supposed to be included in that deal RJ Barrett would be a decent forward on this team right now I’m not saying he would be a superstar but you know what he would be on the court and so you’ve kind of fumbled this bag in your own way especially when you look at that Nicks tray because guess what you could have got first round picks as well you could have got everything that you went out asking for Zack LaVine this season if you make the trade last season with the New York Knicks but no I digress on all of that you let that go by the wayside and so I look at now the situation of the price dropping as you finally saying I might have screwed up guess what you’re screwed up how you have handled this Zack LaVine trade situation for three years now essentially you screwed up and you kept hoping for oh maybe this will happen and this will come back and we’ll make this addition and we’ll make this change and he’ll become the player that we thought that he could be guess what he did not and so now you got to hold that and you got to change your expectations on what you’re going to get back I think at this point the Chicago Bulls will be happy to get some one-year contracts that end up ending at the end of this season for you to be able to get some money back on the books and open up some CL cap flexibility I think that the Chicago Bulls will be lucky if they are able to get some sort of draft Capital back and at this point I’m talking about second round picks first round picks to me if I’m the team on the other side are absolutely out the window we talked about the Zack LaVine possibility of a trade me and Hayes uh to Orlando and to me all right we’re talking about a Zack LaVine trade to Orlando and Hayes talked about well why wouldn’t do you think that they would be willing to part with that first pick and I saw some people in the comments who were like well Pat why wouldn’t you want the Orlando Magic’s first round pick the first round pick from the Orlando Magic by the way this season sits at let me double check this here the 18th overall pick well Pat why wouldn’t you want that and maybe some players back I would love to have the 18th overall pick but if I’m the Orlando Magic I’m working from a place of Leverage you’re not pushing me around you’re not telling me what you want I’m giving you what you want to get in this deal because Guess what at this point you’re in a lose lose situation because the reports around Zack LaVine as especially as of late and and Casey Johnson addressed this in his mailbag as well uh both sides want this thing over with both sides want to be done with uh H uh the the the the forced marriage that you’re in right at this point you’re living in this we both hate each other relationship but we got kids so we want to make this thing work and it’s not working out for anybody here so I just think that to me realistically speaking the fact that the price dropped on Zack LaVine is not surprising to me and I look right at AK and I just say what the heck did you think was going to happen you’ve played hard ball with these teams for three years now and now it’s turning around to bite you in the butt good job you succeeded you are now once again in a very similar spot to why teams wouldn’t operate with gar packs you are now in a very similar spot to why teams basically said we would pick up the phone to talk to you but every time we try to talk to you you make unreasonable demands and unreasonable requests and so we don’t feel like even answering the phone for you anymore so I understand why you did things in the beginning but how you have operated through the process has put you right back into the situation that you were trying so hard by paying Zack LaVine to get out of at least from an organizational standpoint and it’s an absolute joke of a job by the Chicago Bulls front office let’s finish it off talking about getting of yet another talented player on the Chicago Bulls team uh Demar D rozan is reportedly the Lakers dream Landing this is from a bleer report report we’ll talk about that and more after this forgot I had no ad read there so we’re going straight into it I appreciate y’all tuning in showing love hit that like button subscribe to the page lead that festar review y’all know what to do Demar D rozan reportedly is the Lakers dream pickup this comes from an article in Bleacher Report that had every team’s dream free agency Target for 2024 Greg Schwarz wrote this one a couple of days ago and this one is interesting to me because when it it’s funny that you see like on the one end what the what the dream scenario is for one team and then what the L scenario is for another and there’s actually a couple of bulls on here that end up going out in dream scenarios but let’s start it off with the DeMar rosen one because that is the one that most people are going to look at and care about demard Rosen basically is thought of as a dream around most of the league uh this is quite a pipe dream Greg writes especially since demard Rosen could make eight times as much money by returning to the Chicago Bulls next season Still d rozan himself hasn’t ruled out signing with the Lakers who were his favorite team while he grew up in Compton for a player who’s made over a quarter billion dollars in his NBA career not counting endorsements taking the Lakers 5.2 million taxpayer mid-level exception and joining LeBron a a potential free agent himself Anthony Davis Austin Reeves ruy haimura and others on the Lakers team packed with Talent may be appealing for d rozan d rozan might not be the perfect fit but he is easily the most talented player whom the Lakers would have a chance at signing with their midlevel exception and this is when I heard this right I instantly wentw how they going to do it and basically he says the Lakers signed them with their mle and they’re able to basically get a HomeTown discount a uh uh for demard R Roan but there’s a difference between a HomeTown discount and like hey would you like to come play for us for free uh and that’s kind of basically what he’s stating in this article Demar Ros would essentially go from making wow yes less money but 20 plus million dollar to going down to making $5 million on the midlevel exception I’m sure there would be something that they worked out for future contracts and things like that but the Lakers aren’t that level of a team to me you know what I mean like I don’t think that and the other problem is how does Demar D rozan fit in with that now I guess in this scenario LeBron comes back he’s kind of taking one that point guard role and he’s facilitating to Demar which kind of opens things up but are you planning on having dear as like a six-man in this situation are you planning on having dear be the starting two guard of this team if he is the starting two guard of this team are you basically saying it’s okay if we don’t have Elite three-point shooting with a player that works with LeBron I don’t think that this works in any matter uh uh or any sense of the imagination uh I think that this is a nonstarter conversation right now One for the Money Two For the fit not to say that the Lakers wouldn’t be interested in demard De rozan but I just think that that to me you’re more interested in demard De R Ro than if there’s a certain person on your team that maybe doesn’t come back uh named James right because then you’re talking about okay we need somebody who can be a score alongside Anthony Davis with some of the talent that we currently have here I don’t know if it’s a fit with LeBron James on the team um but that would be in a sense the Chicago Bulls just letting demard de rozan walk away and hit free agency and that hasn’t been the report the report on these teams is that both sides are still trying to work something out so we’ll see what it ends up being I think that this is a this is no conversation right now realistically and I think that is something I’m not even uh staying up at nights about I do think demard de R roen could be on the Move uh but I think that if anything it would be a sign and trade scenario where the Bulls kind of do right by him which makes it interesting because the Bulls supposedly dream free agent signing is Tobias Harris who I mean I guess he’s younger than dear he’s seven he’s 31 years old he’s 17 points a game six and a half re bounds a game uh and he’s been on a team that he’s basically kind of been relegated to like we don’t really want you to do anything but be a spot up shooter he was a little bit more this season but for the most part I think that you could utilize Tobias Harris more than how he was utilized in the Sixers organization but aren’t you just doing the same thing again aren’t you just running back the same scenario the same conversation in a more great value Demar d r rozan right now is a better player than Tobias Harris is now I guess you get more from Tobias defensively but on the offensive end I think that Demar is way better than Tobias Harris is um now I guess in a sense if you were if you were to talk about and in this article it talks about everyone still being on the team if you’re talking about the possibility of maybe keeping majority of this team together right in this one it has LaVine D rozan and Nicola vich all still on the team but to me I’d say probably you’re looking at a Kobe white Demar D roen lavich scenario if you bring in Tobias Harris as your three you could do a lot worse um but you got to find a way to make the money work if the Bulls were to get to their midlevel non-t taxpayer exception uh you would have a$ 122.9 million contract that you could offer Tobias Harris which I guess is interesting because I’ve always felt like Tobias Harris was underutilized in uh uh uh Philadelphia but I I mean listen if you can get him at like 13 mil fine like I’m okay with bringing in Tobias Harris if you move on from LaVine dear actually can play the two more times than not right and I guess you would move IO to the bench again in this scenario um in favor of Patrick Williams starting uh but again I don’t think it changes much for you I don’t think it changes your team I don’t think it changes your identity I don’t think it puts you in a better situation um and it’s it’s doing something to say you did something that’s what bringing in Tobias Harris is to me the Bulls aren’t a better team unless Kobe white turns into that guy unless Kobe white becomes right takes that next step yet again and there’s more in the tank for him that could be a scenario there but I just think that Tobias Harris doesn’t change much for me unless somebody becomes a superstar level player Harris and vo would be an interesting Dynamic though I would be interested in that um the final one that I think is interesting uh because there was another Chicago bll on this list Andre Drummond possibly to the Denver Nuggets that would be the Nuggets dream free agent signing and I think that that’s interesting because I just think about like okay if you bring drum in like this is a team this is the one team in the league that I think you could actually play Twin Towers with with drum and I know you way Pat you’re telling me drum could be in the starting lineup I don’t know if I’m going that far but can you imagine a pick and roll with Nikola joic and Andre Drummond can you imagine ball movement with how joic passes the ball could you imagine actually Denver with some Rim protection on that team while niika yic is out there could you imagine n yic being able to actually get a rest I don’t remember jokic’s backup center ever javil spend any time there I don’t I don’t think he did I I don’t I really don’t remember a Nikola yic backup center that was impactful and you could just leave out there Andre druming at a minimum you can do that so I think that that would be a very deadly combination if they were to do something like that let me know your thoughts in the comments below I’ll be down to talk about you guys as well uh that’s going to do it for me on today’s episode me and Hayes will be back on Monday so stay tapped
