Josh Hart Sets The Record Straight About Knicks Coach Tom Thibodeau | Knicks Fan Reaction

here is Josh Hart on the tibs question that everybody the Hot Topic of the offseason and let’s talk about it cuz Josh Hart I thought really really made some great points you in TBS though where he told you you’d play more minutes or you’d be playing full games n you know first and foremost like probably like five six times a game just looking me like yo like you good you need a sub you need something and I’m like it was like Point like yo if I need something I I’ll come to you I’ll I I’ll let you know if I need a sub or something if not I’m good but it was just one of those things like you just you know once you once you have guys going down it’s like I I got to I got to pick my stuff up I got I got to step up and I got to I got to go out the hoop and if you know during playoff time it’s like I I got to push my body to to the max you know to to the point where you know it it’s either you know it’s it’s my body shutting down and that was you know my thought process was I’m I’m a you know and go until until the wheels fall off and that was just kind of my mentality Allstar break to to the last game of the season do you what’ he say and look some people might say what what what else is he gonna say is he gon to say yeah tibs tibs was uh you know driving me crazy here but he said look I’ll let you know when I need a a breather I’ll let you know so the idea that like the players are just like help helpless and tibs is running these guys into the ground hey this is a players League all you got to do is raise your hand right you raise your hand you come out the game Jamal Crawford was on this platform what JC say when I when I asked him about tibs and and the minute things in Minnesota he said look players want to play players want to play so I I just don’t see it man but here’s Josh Hart saying listen it was his choice K do he just admitted it was his choice to stay on the floor not the coaches and he said look I’m gonna go to the wheels fall off it’s an endurance test the NBA Playoffs so that was one thing that he said there now here is here is more on heart on on tib salute to everybody in the chat once again hit that thumbs up button for you boys with I think Sports in general like once you get a label it’s almost impossible to get you know to to change that label or change that narrative so it might have been like that in Chicago or Minnesota wherever it was but since you know my year year and a half I’ve been here man this it be light it be it be chill like we do like we probably went live maybe like six seven times this whole season during practice most of the time it’s it’s more mental it’s more all right we running through these plays we’re you know doing 25 passes figuring out like if if jayen gets blitzed or if if Julius gets blitzed where are we supposed to be and it’s more the mental um part where you have to lck in with his practice it’s not really physical we’re not running up and down we’re not doing much and from coming from me someone that hates practice like I I hate practice bro I hate doing like just turn them lights on at 7:30 at the Garden I’m good but you know for me I’m like oh this is this is it oh we good like we cool I’m I’m chilling so so there was Josh Hart saying basically yeah you’re going to go hard in games but in practices they’re primarily walkthroughs mental preparation looking into each scenario what happens if this happens your counters right working on the counters and that’s one of the things that tibs have mentioned over the years since he’s been here in terms of managing minutes and load management he said look yeah you might go hard in games but there’s ways to limit the amount of wearing T players bodies we’re in 2024 guys aren’t practicing when he said we did six or seven lives all year they’re not going at each other like that in practice just like after games this ain’t the 90s but you putting in two a days right Riley Riley might have put you in in the next two two a day we talked remember when Xavier McD Daniel was on this show and talked about that know day after games they going in two a days so again this is according to these guys I’m not the minutes police I’m not the minutes doctor I’m just saying from the professionals from the guys that are doing it there’s ways to manage your playing time now another another point that heartt made which I thought was excellent was one that I’ve been driving home here the entire playoffs when I’m going after the tibs the tractors and the and the minutes police this is what Hart had to say here and he was absolutely right let me make sure I got the numbers right here this is Josh Hart from the pivot podcast go ahead and check it out full interview great interview there by Brian Hawk and the boys here’s Josh har if you look at the injuries we had this year you know Julius basically falling you know someone trying to take a charge he falls you know on the show freak incident bogey unfortunately like Nick Batum tried to die for a loose ball you know caught a piece of his ankle freak incident Mitch you know you know stress injuries you know those are tough ones you know Jaylen breaking his hand freak incident you know OG pulling his hamstring you know he’s going full speed for you know to try to get the ball know you never know what’s going to happen so you know a lot of the injuries we had were freak incidents and then it’s like all right right we got seven eight healthy players and then you mad at a dude for playing six it’s like as y’all know sometimes the seventh or eighth guy or ninth guy like they’re not ready yet they might be they have the potential to be but they’re at this point in time they might not be ready then we talk about that those those are fluke injuries the Julius one Brunson breaking his hand OG hamstring happened to Halt halbert’s out right now with hamstring where where’s all the people blaming Rick Carlile for the the Breakneck Pace that the Pacers play at that inj that put their star point guard on the Shelf I just I just never saw the direct correlation is it possible absolutely I just never saw the direct correlation between you know player injuries as a result of just playing a lot and a lot I don’t know I I’m I’m not medical field but here’s Josh Hart saying that these injuries are fluke the bonovich injury was absolutely a fluke injury for from an injury-prone player Mitch and then what did hard say after that you down so many bodies tips ain’t going to diakite and decoin Jeff in a high stakes playoff game no chance trust didn’t that Josh har say that trust tibs has to trust the guys to deliver hell my guy Burks lost the trust and then he got it back almost saved the team imagine Burks hiive saved the team in game seven I would have been obnoxious on this channel for we I would have been still been talking about that to today that wouldn’t have heard the end of it so you know the idea that we’re just going to go to the end of the end of the end of the end of the bench it’s not going to happen if you think about what this team looked like in its totality as a unit let’s take let’s say Julius and all these guys are all healthy and you’re going into the playoffs against Philly you have 11 potential guys that you can play that’s more than the average playoff roster rotation playoff rotation so you lose Julius you lose bogie you lose Mitch you lose OG we really going to look at and say hey how come the the real 12 13 14 15 man on the Rost it didn’t playing the playoffs I I just don’t see how how that’s logical you know I don’t see it and that was Josh Hart verse for verse bar for bar basically saying the same thing

  1. Sometime HEAD coaches need to save players from themselves! Wheels falling off half way in the postseason doesn’t win championships

  2. Yes CP where is the outrageous for Rick about running Hali to the ground knowing he had a back injury. Crickets 🦗

  3. Josh is just shining the teachers apple.

Players do want to play but players want their head coach to have common sense.

Playing minutes is a coaches decision and plan, not the players.

Indiana was running 9-10 deep and by game 6 the Knicks were tapped out.

  4. The people that's talking about is tube sport. That players are hurt. They don't know basketball. You could be running up-and-down the court in your hamster and give out. I had to call hamsters. Crane mate, I mean big league hardball baseball in my was quick. Quick like make the quick. Beat out a chopper to first base and I pulled both of my arm strings. And a fluid 5 inches in the air and the next day. I couldn't move on and it don't take 1 day. 2 weeks 3 weeks to heal a hamster and injury. Take a while up into the day. I have trouble with my hamstrings. Seattle ignorant him, she's all that's connected to government so when people going around talking about o. G and this God poem dismiss you because. Octaves, they don't know what they talk about coach tubs. They don't know what they're talking about.Go watch baseball or football or some don't watch basketball

  5. They must the name here. Hot pot rally used to train them. Boys back in days you didn't get you at 2 practices. 3 practice and after a game you was practicing again.

  6. Avranda and the whole crew was healthy.I think we've been playing in the watch this year.I don't think boston could have beat us if we was healthy

  7. Weak fans always kill the momentum like Stephen A Griff and Dolan…..appreciate what you have in the stars that are here. Talking about getting another star is to crap on the current ones as if they arent stars.

  8. If you ask out the game you could end up in the doghouse and we all know that. nobody wants to quit or phone it in but its expected that you give it 200% here. thats why you got OG out there on crutches in game 7 and hes known for never playing through injury. You HAVE to, because its the culture here.

I dont fully blame thibs because injuries are random. HOWEVER, its the coaches job to find time for guys to rest. knicks will be up 20 in the 4th and hes still has guys going over screens and hard closing out, crashing the offensive glass. Its not just the volume of minutes its the style of no plays off, hard effort basketball for 40 mins that also makes it ridiculous.

Yes its bad luck, but thibs and this style of play, has some blame in how the season turned out

  9. The anti ny machine needed to shade the knicks success somehow. It went from a full frontal assault to trying to split the fanbase with talk about minutes. It’s crazy when teams across the league are doing the same thing

  10. This is why the team they have it works they go hard like 6 or 7 times the whole year Hart said. They practice mental things clear,y Thibs has changed & adapt as a coach.

  11. If Thibs can play the main starters less minutes and the bench alittle more. It would help everyone be in rythym and ready to go when its playoff time. That way if a man is down, someone is ready to pick it up. Play a 9, 10 man rotation. Everyone gotta touch the ball otherwise they not going to have a chance to learn and experience the NBA game. Especially the younger players.

  12. Randle shouldn't have still been in the game when he was injured; it was in the bag. Everyone knows OG is a fragile player yet Thibs ran him and ran him till his hamstring gave out. And I guess he still doesn't trust Sims, who has been on the team for years and given them plenty of solid minutes. The man can't get off the bench even when the starting five are on the brink of collapse. Bad luck + stubborn coaching = another year with no championship in NY.

  13. Makes me wish Kobe was around to talk on this. Players play, ballers ball. All the great players want to play, all day, everyday. I remember when I was in little league, our pitcher was getting creamed, went to the manager and DEMANDED the ball. He let me in, we won. After, he chewed my @ss out, then winked & praised the effort. Thibs has a squad of guys that want to win, period. He's gonna ride the winners. This is our squad, and they play for Thibs.

  14. Hopefully we have a deep team next season and we are a little smarter about saving more bullets for the playoffs. I hate to say it because they're out rival, but look at miamis approach to regular season and playoffs and compare that to how knicks do things. The argument against Miami approach might be you have to turn up the mental intensity too much in the playoffs and it might be too late then but I think physically that approach does have merits. So maybe knicks should stay somewhere in between but at least consider something closer to that Miami approach.

  15. A decent coach will ask his players if he is good, a good coach will know better and get his guy rest because he’s a Coach!!. But we are avoiding the fact that Thibs doesn’t develop players or give others the opportunity. This narrative of protecting Thibs with deflecting the real issue is beyond annoying.

At this point, whatever…he’ll be fired after not leading a healthy time to the finals… He is still the coach that couldn’t adjust to Eric Spolestra and a less talented team in the Miami Heat. He is still the coach that doesn’t play his other players to develop them… The more you play people on the court the more they have the chance of getting injured. The reality is… we had a lot more star injuries than any other team and that has to mean something. So we can dress it up as much as we like, we can cover Thibs as much as we like. He’s not going to those 9th and 10th because he didn’t do his job to develop them. Let’s stop trying to dress it up..

Again, as a Knicks fan… this management will Win and Lose with Thibs…

  16. They're changing the narrative. Brunson, devo live after a games said practice was harder than the games. To attract a star that's why we here light practice.

  17. There was a national game this season, He was mic'd up and told Thibs i don't have to come out. I can play all 48. So it is what it is.

  18. I'm just wondering if these young can't play hard with 35+ minutes in their twenties. Then when can they play hard consistently with lots of game minutes. It's not like these young men are playing 48 straight minutes with no breaks. I'm 61 and have been rocking with the Knicks for a very long time. I know a great coach when i see one. We have a great coach in Thibbs. Look at the coaches we have had the last twenty years. Case closed!!

  19. A good coach protects players from themselves.

Making sure his players are performing at top condition is coaches job.

Letting players do what they want doesnt sound like a good coaching. Having full command and control over his team makes a good coach.

Communication between coach and player is important, but coach should have the ultimate say in it.

To say Knicks didnt have fatigue issue is just being in denial. Thats just poor coaching.

  20. Soccer and football I'm use to see. Players playing the whole game in basketball playing the whole game most of the time I don't that's good in the playoffs it's different I understand but if you don't have enough energy you are done. In that why have more than 5 players if they don't have to rest that's my opinion

  21. I think the Knicks conserve there energy for the fourth quarter that’s why we have slow starts but finish strong

  22. Look, if Hart and other players say they want to play and do not want to come out, I belive them.
But that doesnt mean they should. Thibs can just say "sit out the next 3 minutes till the quater is over, I play X for those minutes! He is the coach after all, right?

Rose/Deng/Noah/Buttler… all guys who played heavy minutes under Thibs. And strangely, all of them had "freak injuries" who got more and more the older they got. Noah/Deng fell of a cliff after turning 30, Rose was never the same after his 2nd knee injury and Buttler can manage to give 100% for maybe 4-5 weeks in the playoffs for the last couple of years… if he can manage to stay healthy… and he is 34. Putting all this stress on a body means you have to pay a price sooner then later.

CP3 never played more then 35 minutes per game since his mid 20's in the reg season. And not over 38 in the PO. Maybe there is a reason why he is still a playable rotation guy in his late 30's? Injuries can allways happen. If you play 20 minutes or 45. But the more you play, the higher the chance something in your body just breaks.

Is it right that those guys play so much? Is it wrong? Who am I to tell. But if history repeats itself, guys like Hart/OG/Brunson wont be close to this level in a couple of seasons. But who knows, maybe this time it works.

  23. Rare when you see a player who was willing to sacrafice his body for the game. This Knicks team is for real. Hope they can keep this up.

  24. I get significant minutes in playoff basketball. But when the game is sealed, 2-5 minutes remaining, other teams bench and bench warmers have subbed in…….. Why are my starters still playing? Never understood that, and still upset about D Rose in Chicago because of that 😂

  25. Here's my gripe with Thibs. I don't have a problem with players being on the floor when they're needed, but there have been many times when the Knicks had huge leads late in games and Thibs did not pull them to empty out the bench. Players exhaust themselves to get huge leads. The reward for their efforts should be to get pulled for garbage minutes players. Players suffer wear and tear for overplaying. There were game analysts that would comment on Thibs still leaving starters/stars on the floor. There is nothing wrong with iron man players like Hart playing the minutes they have too. We applaud this in someone having this in their character. We frown on coaches who wear their players out. Question: What took so long for Thibodeau to make the adjustment of adding Burks to the rotation in the playoffs when Bogdanovic went down? That's my gripe with Thibs. His inability to make adjustments in a timely manner cost the Knicks their series against the Pacers.

I mean I love Hart, and I'm glad the Knicks traded for him, but he broke down in the playoffs….when this could've been avoided

  26. Players complaining about Thibs coaching style and their dislike of his favoritism is not new as it has followed him from team to team.

Saying it's a players league is not telling the full story. All player on the roster want to hoop without question. Thibs rather risk burning someone out instead of giving someone else a chance to hoop.

There are atleast 5 other dudes on the bench looking at Hart playing 48 mins like "damn I can get 5 mins to help the team?"

Alec Burks is a prime example of Thibs misusing his players. He only got off the bench because of foul trouble but when he got in a made a couple of shots Thibs knew he couldn't keep sitting him. Everyone on the roster can hoop especially if the coach gives them a defined role and the confidence to play in that role regardless of a mistake from time to time.

  27. Walt Clyde Frazier averaged 40+ mins 4 seasons of his career….. but yeah. I’m sure Thibs is just some new-style maniacal coach.

  28. It's getting to the point where it is an endurance point in the playoffs but home court really means nothing and we need to rest our starters as soon as we clinch the playoffs until the NBA changes something because there is no doubt in my mind if Julius,og Mitch, Bogdan were healthy we would have beaten Boston
