How A Jump Shooting Golden State Warriors Changed The NBA Forever

why do you hate the Golden State Warriors you know what’s interesting you know I’ve been say I’ve been on television for 16 years and I’ve said the exact same thing for 16 years I’m not big on jump shooting teams the chionship is back in the bay for the first time in 40 years and one year you guys have a terrific season you think it y’all took it personally the teams aren’t going small they just need quality big man what the what the Golden State Warriors did was terrific but I don’t think you’re going to see a bunch of well if you can get guards like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson you got a better chance of playing small ball but I don’t think the NBA all of a sudden is going to have a bunch of three-point Shooters and playing a bunch of small [Music] [Applause] lineup oh my goodness curry with another three what comes to mind when you think of the Golden State Warriors maybe it is the splash of a three-pointer hitting nothing but net or the crowds Roar in a packed Arena this team led by none other than Steph Curry might look like your usual NBA Dynasty but their impact stretches far beyond regular season wins and Championship banners they’ve revolutionized basketball proving that a focus on three-point shooting can not only win games but can change the game itself green is in a torture chamber and outside it goes Curry three another one but the true question is how did this all happen how did Steph Curry’s Sharp Shooting and the Golden State Warriors Excellence hit the NBA by storm well let us take a trip down memory lane the famous blue and gold franchise was founded in 1946 and was initially called the Philadelphia Warriors a charter member of the baa the Basketball Association of America initially owned by Peter a troll and coached by Eddie gotle the team quickly made its Mark by winning the 1947 inaugural baa Championship 3 years before the NBA was formed however the path ahead was anything but smooth the early years saw the Warriors grapple with inconsistency and frequent roster and managerial changes despite these challenges the team boasted some of the era’s most formidable talents in the 1955-56 season the Warriors clinched their second championship this time led by Hall of Famers Paul Arizon Tom goola and Neil Johnston a formidable Trio that dominated the entire NBA on both ends of the Court the late 1950s brought a new star to the Warriors roster the Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain joining the team in 19 59 Chamberlain quickly established himself as one of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen Chamberlain again underneath great shot by Chamberlain he made an immediate and profound impact on the team setting an NBA scoring record of 100 points against the New York Knicks winning the NBA MVP award in 1960 and averaging 41.5 points and 25 rebounds with the Warriors even though Wilt was one of the pioneers of the NBA Revolution he couldn’t lead the Warriors to a single Championship during his 5year spell with the team coming close in 1964 only to lose out to Bill Russell and the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals they cannot be denied their moment of fire Boston has beaten the gallon San Francisco warriors 105 to 99 their relocation to the San Francisco Bay area in 1962 marked the beginning of a new chapter as the franchise was renamed the San Francisco warriors even though they relocated their problems moved with them as they continued to struggle leading to wil Chamberlain’s trade in 1965 a season where the Warriors only had 17 wins in 80 games however Rick Barry’s arrival in the 1965 NBA draft signaled a turning point and a new sense of belief for the Golden State Warriors Barry’s exceptional skills and Leadership helped the Warriors secure their third championship in 1975 one of the biggest upsets and victories in NBA history over wi Chamberlin and the Philadelphia 76ers the gold State Warriors has just won the NBA Championship despite their Triumph the Warriors fortunes fluctuated over the next few seasons a struggling 1980s marinated over the next decade as the team failed to find its footing it wasn’t until the mid 1990s with the emergence of stars like Tim Hardaway Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullen popularly known as Run TMC that the Warriors began to show signs of a brief Resurgence making it to the 1987 Western Conference semi-finals before the trio got disbanded after spending just two seasons together and a single playoff series win it over to richond with a from 1995 through 2006 the Mighty Warriors of the 1940s and 50s literally hit rock bottom they went on a bizarre 12-year run without any playoff appearance and the search for consistency lingered on as the 21st century Dawn nearer but the answer to their problem was a scrawny kid out of akan Ohio born to a former NBA shooting guard Dell Curry and his mother Sonia Steph Curry’s arrival in 2009 marked the beginning of a new era of worldwide dominance and paved the way for a strategic shift that would change the NBA forever the be screen ioro again Curry three oh no Curry was a career at the time Curry was a promising but undersized guard out of Davidson College known for his exceptional shooting ability but he was questioned for his lack of size and weakness on the defensive end and many analysts doubted whether he could thrive in the NBA last year’s performance in the NCA tournament but I think hand of the bigger question is where does he go I mean you have Brandon Jennings who frankly has far more talent and upside not as refined as Steph Curry as a shooter you have guys like Jeff Teague Johnny Flynn uh Ty Lawson who we expect to declare for the draft today even Drew holiday at UCLA are seeing as guys with more upside however the Golden State Warriors saw something different instead de Curry they saw potential a burgeoning light capable of igniting an NBA Revolution even though multiple ankle injuries and surgeries marred Curry’s early years his talent was undeniable averaging 17.5 points on 43.7% three-point shooting to see him finish second behind Tyreek Evans in the Rookie of the Year voting they usually hit it in the first seven seconds change the game look at this how fun is he o 25 gold state doing his ability to shoot from virtually anywhere on the court was unlike anything the league has ever seen as he honed his skills on the court the Warriors underwent a significant change in ownership in 2010 Joe lob and Peter goober purchased the Warriors team bringing a fresh perspective and a commitment to molding the Warriors into a championship Contender lob and gober’s vision extended Beyond acquiring top talents they sought to revolutionize the team’s overall play style this Vision led to hiring five-time NBA champion Steve Kerr as their head coach in 2014 Kerr a former Chicago Bulls shooting guard of Championship pedigree brought a philosophy that emphasized ball movement spacing and three-point shooting this approach perfectly complemented Curry’s strengths and set the stage for the Warriors Ascension to Greatness under Kerr’s Guidance the Warriors embraced a fast-paced perimeter oriented offense that leveraged Curry’s shooting prowess the team strategy was simple yet revolutionary prioritizing three-point shots over traditional mid-range jumpers and focus on creating open looks through constant motion and unselfish play curry with a Drive Great pass inside igala to MAA to Curry white Corner three good and a foul Carter ran him over Curry helped up by the Warriors bench outstanding side to side this approach not only maximized Curry’s impact it enhanced his team teammates overall game with Klay Thompson forming the famous Splash Bros Tandem and Draymond Green excelling as a Lockdown Defender and facilitator of the Warriors offense the 2014 2015 season marked a turning point in the Warriors glorious Saga the Warriors finished with a league best 6715 record and Steph’s statline of 23.8 points 7.7 assists on 48.7% shooting from the field and 44% three-point shooting on 286 made three won him his first NBA Most Valuable Player award in 2015 that same year Curry’s 26 points average in the NBA Finals defeated LeBron James and the Cavaliers in six games to see the Warriors win their first ring in 40 years the 20156 Golden State Warriors roster was arguably the best team the league has ever seen the 739 win record set a new NBA record for total wins in a season and Steph Curry’s incredible 30 points on 66.9% true shooting along with the NBA three-point record of 402 threes in a season made Curry the first unanimous MVP in NBA history for the second straight season and the Warriors 3-1 Series collaps against LeBron James and the Cavs in the 2016 NBA Finals will forever leave a scar on the hearts of every Warriors fan oh block by James LeBron James with a rejection the arrival of Kevin Durant in 2017 solidified the Warriors push to maintain their NBA Dynasty status winning back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018 before injuries to Klay Thompson and KD saw them lose out to kawi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals that defeat marked the end of Golden State Warriors super team as they ended up shattered the Warriors Dynasty over I have a two-part answer to that okay yes it is but they don’t believe so I hate to say this right now but to be honest with you I don’t see the Golden State Warriors bringing home another championship y’all going to sit on first take you and Dominique Foxworth are going to sit on first take and say that Steph Curry will not be in the conversation for a championship in the next four years the departure of Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets the following year the absence of clay due to injury and Steph’s broken hand that limited him to just five games saw the Warriors fell from their High Reigns to record just 15 wins and miss out on the playoff spot at the end of into the 2020 NBA season even though Steph returned to his best averaging 32 points almost six assists and 48% shooting from the field the Warriors 39 win record and Ninth Place finish only got them to the NBA playin tournament where they first lost to the Lakers before losing to the Grizzlies in overtime to put an end to their miserable season for to shoot Mor makes his move spins in the paint turns puts it up puts it in John Mor knocks it down it’s a five-point game with four 4.5 remaining the Warriors bounced back The Following Season securing the third seed in the West Conference with a 5329 record led by Steph Curry Andrew Wiggins and Jordan P’s offensive Arsenal it was during the 2022 playoffs that Steph took his game to a whole new level 28 points and 5.4 assists average saw Curry annihilate Nicola yic and the Denver Nuggets winning the series 41 steps out for a three it’s good and a foul the Warriors ran through the Memphis Grizzlies to win the series 4-2 and make it to the Western Conference Finals to defeat the Mavericks 4-1 the Golden State Warriors made it to the NBA finals for the first time since 2019 this time facing up against the Boston Celtics Curry used all his critics as inspiration and Scorch the Celtics 31.2 points five assists shooting 48.2% from the field and 43.7% from three saw the Warriors claim their franchise’s seventh championship at the TD Garden as Steph claimed his fourth NBA title and his first Finals MVP awards fires fre pointer he Steph Curry from [Applause] downt That season truly solidified Steph Curry’s Legacy as one of NBA’s all-time greats Curry’s influence extended beyond the court his work ethic humility and Leadership set a standard for his teammates and inspired a new generation of players the Warrior’s success demonstrated the power of innovative thinking in sports by embracing a style of play that prioritized skill and intelligence over sheer athleticism the Warriors challenged conventional thinking and redefined what it meant to be a successful NBA franchise Curry also shattered numerous records including the NBA record for most threes made by succeeding Ray Allen and became the face of a basketball Revolution it’s good there it is Stephen Curry the alltime three-point King of the NBA his impact was felt across the league as teams scrambled to emulate the Warriors style and prioritize three-point shooting in their strategies Curry’s impact on basketball is immeasurable he redefined the value of the three-point shot making it a central element of offensive strategies across the league before Curry the three-pointer was an occasional weapon but now it is the deadliest offensive weapon in the game his ability to shoot from seemingly impossible distances forced defenses to stretch further than ever creating more space on the court and opening up new avenues to dissect the defense and create easy scoring chances this shift didn’t just Elevate the Golden State Warriors it changed the NBA forever NBA teams began to emulate the Warriors style focusing on three-point shooting and fast-paced play and since Steph entered the NBA in 2009 the number of three-point attempts per season has reached an all-time high in recent times shots that would send you to the bench are now The Benchmark of the modern NBA offense the average three-pointers ATT Ed across the league Grew From 16.9 in 2009 to 18.4 in 2012 3 years later it moved up to 24.1 three-point attempts in 2015 the 2022 season saw the record Skyrocket to an outstanding 35.4 Theses per game at the end of the 2024 season the average Rose to 39.5% with the top seated Boston Celtics attempting 42.5% of their shot from behind the arc and the least attempted threes of 31.1 per game to put things in perspective the Orlando Magic’s 27.3 three-point attempt in 2009 was the League’s best three-points attempt record the year Curry entered the league so much for a 6-2 point guard out of Davidson College who was predicted that his game would never translate in the NBA the Warriors influence extends Beyond tactics and statistics their success has inspired a new generation of players who grew up watching Curry and Clay win trophies and succeed in the NBA because of their Immaculate shooting touch as Trey young once said I remember when Curry won his first championship himself with Clay when I was in Middle School and High School back then so I remember being a kid watching him back then and just being a fan now I want to be a champion and he has set the standard young athletes now aspire to develop their shooting skills understanding that a solid three-point game can be a first class ticket to winning this shift in Focus has led to a more exciting High scoring brand of basketball that captivates fans worldwide Steph Curry and the Golden State
