Saw this. Hurts the soul. Wonder what parts affect him most. Hope he does an interview/podcast sometime soon.

Whatever happened to “No comment”?

Dude has only played 8 more regular season games than Edwards. Crazy what injuries did to him cause he looked like a legit future all star at 20 years old but I remember by the end on Boston he was just totally lost. But he only just turned 29 so hopefully he can make his way back for a late career surge

Jabari Parker in 2018:
“Well, I don’t know I just stick to my strengths,” Parker said. “Look at everybody in the league. They don’t pay players to play defense. There’s only two players, historically, who play defense. I’m not gonna say that I won’t, but to say that’s a weakness is like saying that’s everybody’s weakness. I’ve scored 30s and 20s off of guys who say they try to play defense.”
Parker was then asked about being someone who can switch as a defender from one player onto another.
“Well, if you know the game, you know that everyone’s a pro, right?” he said. “And you know that certain guys have a (scoring) average, and no matter what you do, they still get that average. They pay people to score the ball, and I would hope that somebody scores the ball on me if they paid them that much. So, I’m not saying that’s a cop out or nothing, but it’s the NBA. We’re professionals, everybody scores. It’s just a matter of limiting them as much as you can and trying to contain them.

Damn, this actually hurts to see. Whatever’s going on in his head I hope he finds a place where he’s happy at the least. He was supposed to be so great man, and might’ve been if not for bad luck.
meatycheese89
Hope he can do an “Exum” and come back to NBA. Hopefully learning how to play defense this time round
To be overseas at age 29 due to injuries destroying his potential. It’s gotta be tough emotionally.
Like when Greg Oden was asked if he played basketball by that grandma on university campus.

Idk getting paid to play basketball in Barcelona Spain is still a hell of a life.

Wow he looks so different. Wouldn’t surprise me if there is a major drug issue.

“what’s wrong boy” is a insane thing to say 😭😭

Damn, this hurts my heart. I always believed in this dude and thought he was gonna turn it around when he got healthy. I know he ain’t in purgatory and is still making money playing ball but it’s gotta be rough to be that highly touted of a prospect and be out of the NBA before 30.

Bro is getting paid to play a game and gets to see other parts of the world.
He is still luckier than 99.999% people.
Yeah the what could’ves suck, but there is guy waking up tomorrow to go dig holes for 16 bucks an hour with no healthcare.
Keep this shit in perspective.

The comments on this thread are solidly the most pathetic I’ve ever seen on Reddit. Who gives a fuck about what he said about defense or what you think playing overseas is like.

I really think he just was having something going on in his personal life during this interview. Cause he seemed to be loving playing for Barça. He just signed two year extension and has stated how awesome living in Barcelona has been for him. He even stated he sold his car cause how much he likes being able to walk or take public transit around the city.

Jabari “They Don’t Pay Me to Play Defense” Parker
This looks like they’re interviewing a homeless dude who used to have it all. I remember him being on the [cover of Sports Illustrated](https://vault.si.com/.image/t_share/MTY5MDk4MzYwODIyMzEwMTc3/1009539—cover-thumbnail-image.jpg) vividly and really hoped he’d pan out after doing so well at Duke. Hopefully it’s not too late for him to make it back to the league again but he’ll need to be able to [play defense](https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/new-bulls-forward-jabari-parker-they-dont-pay-players-to-play-defense) if he gets that opportunity
He was dubbed the next LeBron in high school.
