“At the time, ESPN insider Bobby Marks told Zach Lowe that he thought Porzingis was going to be traded to Toronto before the Raptors eventually opted to go in another direction and send Dragic and a first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for Thad Young and a second-round pick.”

This is nostalgia porn. If it wasn’t done then no point looking back.

Am I remembering it wrong but wasn’t there a sexual assault allegation against Kristaps in NYC?

Thank you Captain Hindsight!

I mean, yeah would love to have him with the benefit of hindsight but the Mavs got a better deal anyway so its not like we missed out here. We didn’t have the right pieces.
It would be interesting if he could have put up similar numbers here. We probably don’t make the Yak trade and FVV, OG, and Pascal likely get extended.

Another player who would have been PERFECT next to Siakam and even Scottie for the future, they really did fumble building a proper team for Pascal, hopefully they don’t mess up building a team around Scottie

idc such an obvious move at the time regardless of injuries and his contract. if there was a perfect center to put around our 6’9” experiment it was Porzingis and if the FO actually ever cared about truly committing to that group like they said they did, they should’ve tried it.

“nearly had” seems a bit of a stretch when this is actually “a guy thought Toronto might be interested in him but instead did this other actual real trade”

Who cares. Think of what you were trading for at that time; an injury prone big man who was making a lot of money and would need an extension in another year and had failed at playing with the most exciting young player in the league t the time in Doncic. GTFO if you were clamouring for this. Show the receipts if you were.

If this is true and our FO was the one who pulled out of deal, it seems entirely motivated by saving owners money.
