I was messing around a basketball rence this morning looking at Stats and came across Victor wama and was looking through all the stats and I realized holy moly Spurs fans wemy was better than even I [Music] realized what is up San Antonio Spurs fans welcome to TSR Sports Victor wama Rookie of the Year defensive first team second in Defensive Player of the Year voting let’s be honest probably should have been number one great stats on a not so good team we take a look at his stats for last season he played 71 games just under 30 minutes shot about 47% from the field around 33% from Beyond The Arc 80% from the free throw line and then the big numbers people look at 21 points per game just under 11 rebounds four assists about a steal and a league leading 3.6 blocks per game leading the league in blocks as a rookie the only blemish really maybe two blemishes are the three-point percentage is low which brought his overall field goal percentage down and the turnovers but he was a rookie and a rookie on a bad team and a matter of fact if we look at the Spurs last season he had to deal with a lot the Jeremy soan point guard experiment which went for what almost 20 games which was an absolute disaster I wanted it to work obviously pop wanted to work it didn’t work we had the very brief but failed Malachai brandom point guard experiment we had massive shuffling in the start lineup on a fairly consistent Basin Collins was a starter at one point kelln Johnson Trey Jones finally came in at the end of the season there were people ping ponging all over the place we had an inconsistent Julian champeny as a starter wheny was getting double teamed and triple teams at times and he had his own injuries to deal with when you factor all that in and look what he did in his rookie year he put up some great numbers but was eye popping to me when I was looking around I was like whoa wait a second TSR yeah talking to myself from the third person that is crazy what am I talking about not practice I’m talking about his per 36 minute average last season now it’s field goal percentage shooting metrics those are all going to stay the same but when you look at the other numbers this is still adjusted with that bad team around him 26 points per game about 13 rebounds almost five assists a steal and a half and almost 4 and a half blocks per game those numbers are ridiculous for a rookie yes the turnovers I know 4.4 we’ve already addressed the turnover issue and it got me thinking holy moly these numbers here and he’s probably not going to play 36 minutes a season I could see him playing just under that but these numbers are absurd and now if I imagine Victor wama with a consistent wing and sorry I like jilan champeny he has not proven to me he’s an NBA caliber starter yet and if he had an Allstar type point guard sorry Trey Jones love you I don’t quite think he’s the guy he showed progress as a three-point shooter last season he is undersized in today’s NBA of course there are players that might have succeeded so you know it is what it is that being said I was like you know just how good could Wy be in two years this is what I came up with 75 games I think he’ll rest a couple games here and there just just because it’s today’s NBA but I could see him playing around 35 minutes per game just under 50% as a field goal percentage because I think he’s still going to be a high volum three-point shooter about 6 threes a game that’s what he’s averaging about now five to six so I think that I think percentage will prove who knows maybe he’ll shock us and be a north of 40% three-point shooter early in his career that’d be great be a solid free throw shooter I think his rebounds if we have better players around him are going to stay around that 12 and a half range assist should go up a little bit but not a ton if we have a legit point guard around him and then offensively he’s still going to be a monster I could see him averaging more than four blocks per game easily in a steel and a half or more and then if you’re a if you’re a fan of a certain player on this Rost or on the Spurs not current roster but a pass player those points per game may look familiar to you so I just went with that but I could see him averaging close to 30 points per game and I think this is going to be similar to Peak 1 being in a few years with the right team around him as long as he stays injury free I think we’re going to see a player that’s going to easily average a double double and north of five assists and anywhere from four to five blocks a game but it’s going to be up to the Spurs popping the front office to put the right people around him there’s no doubt in my mind he has the right team around him and stays healthy we’re talking about a future League MVP multi- Defensive Player of the Year probably multi MVP the question is can they win championships with him I don’t like predict too much stuff like this and I know some of you’ve commented to like H let’s not go down that road but the ceiling is very high for this young man just how high is it who the heck knows when it’s all said and done he could be one of the greatest of all time or at least one of the greatest Spurs of all time I at least expect that from what he’s shown is just in year one with the numbers he’s put up I certainly think he’s going to be one of the greatest Spurs all time I hope he’s going to be one of the greatest Spurs of all time oh my goodness so a short video today just I want to show you guys that per 36 minutes average because it just really jumped out to me when I was looking I was like those are really good numbers for a rookie and he already had really good working numbers and then we just Factor everything he had to deal with all season not only that but just the hype too had to deal with the hype the immense amount of media coverage that he was getting and then teams I’m sure were out to get him what I mean by that is when he’s coming to town or you’re going to visit San Antonio your game plan for that game probably the only game plan is to stop Victor wama I who else do you really worried about in the Spurs roster right now let Devon Kelvin whatever go off for 25 30 40 whatever it may be stop Wy and that’s why he was double teamed a lot and occasionally triple teamed let I close the video with this know what it’s like to have really good players look at the era Demar D rozan LaMarcus Aldridge Derrik white J Murray and think hey maybe this is good enough to be a a contender in the future but it doesn’t quite work out the way and the Hawks was be on a th a mess right now they yes they have a first overall pick this year but they got a lot of big decisions to make sooner than later so I’d love to talk to them about that any possible type of Trey Young trade Deon Murray trade or trades for the first overall pick I’m very much looking forward to working with him and of course getting your
