The Timberwolves should be proud of their season

want to take some time to reflect on the season we just witnessed from Anthony Edwards in the Minnesota Timberwolves to be honest with you yeah they were dominated last night bum rush beat down embarrassed and sent packing by Dallas but to me anyway that didn’t dampen Anthony Edward’s outlook on it T’s future one bit you heard what he had to say and I give him credit for a lot of it a lot of the things that happened for him this season he clearly worked on his game he clearly improved his game exponentially um and he’s got reason to be optimistic because the Minnesota Timberwolves are a pretty damn good team so we get that and Anthony Edwards ladies and gentlemen just a reminder for you he’s only 22 years of age um but there are some things to point out about Minnesota that we got to pay attention to number one they’re committed to 196.7 million in salary so we got to get that out the way their tax threshold at 171.5 million um you got to take that into consideration as well they’ve got the 27th pick and the 37th pick in the upcoming NBA draft uh their free agents to be Jordan mclin Monty Morris and kle Anderson as far as I’m concerned all three can go slowmo Kyle Anderson I like him love him as a person like him as a guy um you know Garden Luca donic embracing that assignment and stuff like that I get it but my God he’s so slow he’s so slow and and and there’s just so many limitations to his game you’ve got to upgrade you just do um there’s also the thing about Minnesota’s ownership because Alex Rodriguez and Mark Lorie um planned on owning a majority stake in the franchise about 60% 60% of it was supposed to be at about $900 million since it was being sold for 1.5 since it’s worth rather than it valuation is a 1.5 billion Glenn Taylor the owner for the Timberwolves seems to have reneged on that and wanted to maintain a controlling interest um a lot of belief is that he wanted to be a part of the team and wanted to be right there in the mix because he thought they were going to win the title and he wanted to be right there after all the years being in this position he wanted to be right there uh when they hoisted that chopi so he could be an individual that was seen front and center uh at least that’s what some people say I don’t know how much truth there is to that what I do know is this I can’t imagine that Mark Lori and Alex Rodriguez would come up with $600 million or $900 million and then somehow someway after an ironclad commitment he’s able to back out of that but still in all when you look at their financial stability right now it’s a question mark now once upon a time during covid the valuation of their franchise at 1.5 billion now it’s got to be at least double that which also could play a role in why Glen Taylor suddenly wanted to reeg on selling the team because he realizes he probably was getting hoes because it’s worth worth double what I thought it was going to be what I thought it was going to be worth but that’s not Alex Rodriguez and Mark glor’s problem that’s a glint Taylor problem but still in all you got to pay attention to what may go off what the Fallout from that may be so we can’t escape that as it pertains to the state of the roster um you can’t let the embarrassing game five lost to Dallas change the narrative on this season um there’s a strong Foundation to build upon they did win 56 games second most in franchise history they did reach the Conference finals for the first time since 2004 um and in terms of who they returned NBA Sixth Man of the Year Nas Reed key reserves nqu Alexander Walker and then you got all NBA and future MVP candidate Anthony Edwards he set to begin year one of a five-year contract and isn’t a free agent until 2029 the same goes for jayen McDaniel who’s on a new fiveyear deal Allstar Carl Anthony towns and NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy go have four years and two years respectively left their contracts right so you have the foundation you have the foundation again it comes down to who can you get to pair with Anthony Edwards that’s gonna Elevate them in order to get anybody ladies and gentlemen what you have to say is it’s call Anthony towns or Rudy gobe that’s going to have to go in order for you to get the kind of Equitable compensation that’s going to elevate this Fran from a Conference Finals appearance and 56 wins and a top three seed in the Western Conference it just comes down to that it just comes down to that

  1. We fully believe in this squad, this roster. Just some fine-tuning to the bench.
As for Glen Taylor, he has a severe case of buyer's remorse. But that's a him problem

  2. 1:07 I actually feel the need to defend Kyle Anderson, here. This is a guy, his game probably annoyed me the most in the NBA. I would watch him play from time to time the few times he was on tv and literally say WTF. How is this guy an NBA player? Kyle Anderson is a stud. He played very well this entire playoffs and was a very key reason for the Wolves success (the other two free agents Stephen A. mentioned rarely saw the floor). If Kyle was really a "Slo-Mo" he would have never seen the floor, let alone guard the Mavs best player. We all saw the messy act last season btw Kyle and Gobert. Good job on those two squashing whatever that was and moving forward. It was a total non-issue. The Wolves should make it a priority to sign Kyle in free agency.

  3. MN relied on a 22-year-old kid who skipped his senior year in high school to forge wins and provide leadership. It should be no surprise – and it should not be viewed as a disappointment – that the team's ceiling this year was the WC Finals. The Wolves need another offensive counter to Ant. KAT is supremely talented – and yes temperamental – but his game lacks a dynamic that speaks to his size and mobility. He does not tend to create his own shots, and is not consistent enough as a playmaker to be the second man in this offense. Additionally, no local or major media of which I am aware recognized that his meniscus injury and subsequent surgery had to have been at least a partial impediment to KAT having a more successful playoff run. He came back from the surgery weeks earlier than was recommended. In any event, Tim Connelly will likely need permission from ownership to obtain a more dynamic No. 2 scorer to take the pressure off of Ant and KAT.

  4. Vegas had the Wolves O/U at 44.5 wins and most people projected they ~might~ get to the 2nd round and lose. The fact they got 12 more wins than that, destroyed the Suns, edged out the Nuggets, and were in every game of the Mavs series shows they’ve come far from the team everyone made fun of for trading half their team for Gobert saying it’d never work. I’m still not convinced KAT as the #2 and Rudy being there will work long term but they’ve certainly proved that they’re a legitimate threat in the west and Ant is the truth

  5. GT didn’t renege – they didn’t have the money on time and that’s not a good sign in business.

  6. Rudy Gobert bye bye. That’s why the Jazz didn’t mind him leaving either. You can’t just block shots all day. Hence not enough rebounds and points for a big man is a deal breaker.

  7. This season from the wolves was objectively good. Went from 7-8th seed to 3rd seed and from missing the playoffs/losing in first round to west conference finals, beating a on paper stacked Suns team and the former champion with the MVP. It was there best season in 20 years.

  8. Luka is better than Ant and that will always be the case 🙂 Wonder why that bothers Mr. Smith ☠️

  9. Antman will have to work on his conditioning. Kyrie is 32 years old and running around like a 20 yr old.

  10. The GM killed this team. He was supposed to wait around the mid-season before going for Gobert because Donovan Mitchell was there for the taking. More Kessler is far more better than Gobert. The GM should be accountable with all that draft he gave away.

  11. This was my favorite Wolves team/season ever. I was only 9 when they went to the western finals with kg and don't remember much of it.
I just wish they wouldn't have pulled a 2017 Vikings on us to end it. But it is what it is.

  12. Rudy gobert can go … kat has shown he can be more reliable defensively if pushed to it , just need another center that can contribute offensively or defensively at least in the play off

  13. Salute SAS 🫡 next year definitely will have to be a upgrade hate to see some of the guys go but that’s the only way to grow

  14. Probably… the nicest thing I’ve heard this man say… from a lifelong Minnesota fan, thank you for being reasonable.
