Chennedy Carter’s hard foul on Caitlin Clark was NOT A GOOD LOOK! 👀 – Monica McNutt | Get Up

the most talked about story of the weekend in sports and that was Caitlyn Clark and the Indiana Fever on Saturday they won their first home game of the year playing against Chicago but that moment right there involving Chicago’s Kennedy Carter with a check for lack of a better way of describing it on Clark as the ball was being inbounded the play was not reviewed it was called an away from the ball common foul the WNBA told the SPN yesterday Carter has now been assessed a flagrant one after a league review after the game both Clark and Carter were asked about the incident here’s how they both handled it it is what it is you know I feel like I’m just at the point where you accept it um and don’t retaliate like you know just let them hit you be what it is don’t let it get inside your head um and know it’s coming I think at this point like I know I’m going to take a couple hard shots a game and that’s what it is just stay in the game and saying what’s important she turn to you a little bit after I ain’t answering no kayn Clark questions did she say anything to I don’t know what she said what’ you say to her I didn’t say anything that’s enough okay so that got line of questioning got cut off there although I should mention Kennedy Clark uh excuse me Kennedy Carter did respond uh later in the day on Instagram threads by saying besides three-point shooting what does she bring to the table followed by a laughing emoji so that’s that’s all the things that were said I want to bring Monica mcnut into the conversation and here’s why because Monica what I don’t like is when people parachute into a place in this particular case the WNBA where they have never spent any time before and start offering a whole bunch of opinions when they may not understand the full context of everything that happens an example I use for this all the time is people will will get mad about pitchers throwing at hitters in baseball when in reality that’s the way the sport has policed itself for a hundred years so that’s why we turn to you this morning and I thank you for for making yourself available what are the right things for people who do pay attention to this sport to say about what happened this weekend good morning greeny and thanks for having this conversation all right Kennedy Carter not a good look couple of plays prior there’s an elbow in there delivered by Caitlyn Clark and so this is someone who is known in the women’s game for her energy her scoring ability and sometimes her attitude competing the truth of this play is that if anybody had done that Kennedy Carter is likely to respond that way and that is a journey that she continues to be on the person that cut her off in that press conference was her head coach Teresa weather who certainly gets how you control fire in order to make it successful and productive so this is not a good look from Carter I will give you that but the larger story greeny that the WBA needs to be protecting Caitlyn Clark and that she’s being uh targeted at an intense level negates the rookie experience in a league with the very best players there are a couple things that have made Caitlyn Clark’s path here unique besides all of the eyeballs and the attention that she has brought she is not physically dominant at this level she’s a guard she’s going to have to get stronger and she’s being guarded by some of the best defenders in the league and so that makes it look a little bit more aggressive if you just got here and you are following her alone but greedy we could roll off years of clips of rookies in the WNBA having to hit their rookie curve her own classmate and Angel ree had a collision with Alysa Thomas who was one of the most physical players in the in the game of basketball and she wisely chocked it up to ultimately I competing against grown woman Cameron Brink has talked about Tina Charles cutting her up and actually outperforming her as an established veteran in this league and so yes this particular play you don’t love it but you got to understand that is less about Caitlyn Clark and more about who Kennedy Carter has been and continues to grow up from and and how about the reaction to it because again I I I was just following as best I could a lot of the social media reaction that was going and that that’s why I wanted to have this conversation here with someone who actually knows because I feel like we’re hearing a lot of words from a lot of people who don’t have any idea what they’re actually talking about when it comes to this what has been your reaction to some of the reaction that has been out there I am thrilled that we’re having this conversation greeny I’m thrilled about all the enthusiasm but I do think folks need to understand that Caitlyn as she all alluded to in that sound is a competitor this is part of the growing process and the learning curve that myself Chena gum Andrea Carter have all talked about right not this particular play I’m not justifying this particular play but the physicality of this league is part of the league and so I think you got to be able to look at it and see this is basketball it is a physical game these people are competing and quiet as is Cap Kayla is not exactly quiet on the court she is a competitor as well and so this to me is all part for the course the notion that the entire league and the players are hating on her is out of place right just like Kennedy Carter’s Behavior should not dictate how the entire league feels about her you also have to understand that everyone is competing and trying to win [Music]

  1. Chennedy Carter is a thug with a history. She was picked up by Atlanta in 2020, and released a year later after she fought with and threatened to kill teammates. Carter was then picked up by Los Angeles and released in 3 months for "bad conduct." Cater then played in a world league in Turkey, that didnt go well, she came back to the US and was picked up by Chicago. Chennedy Carter is dangerous, what she did is not acceptable l in any context.

  2. Chennedy carter did a non basketball dirty play.

Chennedy did not even try to play defense and shoulder checked her to the ground when she wasnt expecting it.

  3. The wnba would be screwed if Clark was just like "I dont feel like getting hit every game, I retire and I'll go take the 5 mil from Ice Cube "

  4. Spot on actually, new fans dont know what there talking about and have never watched a game before or a new rookie class come in.. YET have soo much to say

  5. Well, the racist thugs are going to get what they want. They'll get their lonely no-audience WNBA back if this isn't fixed. The audience that came to see Caitlin play will stop coming.

  6. Carter.. thug kicked of like three teams for violence.. then this person .. of course justifies raciest hate

  7. It's bully season, why does she get all of the attention after decades of wnba now all the sudden she's famous she needs to take her licks and if she can't handle it then so be it I guess she doesn't belong

  8. Thats was a dirty play and uncalled for. Idk what led up to that incident but Caitlin needs to get in the gym for real. That shoulder check should not have made her fall

  9. She’s been very diplomatic and carefull of what she’s saying . Cater should be ejected IMO because the ball is not in play and why doing that like that also she could find a more sporting way to show Clark how the game is tough .well guess we’re gonna have this all season . And i guess Carter should buy some glasses because saying that Clark only uses her three’s for the game and not seeing her dimes and her IQ . It’s only because of Clark that am watching some WNBA games this year and it’s my first time these other players should be carefull not ruin it for me

  10. Caitlin has 3 inches and 10 lbs on Chennedy. She doesn’t need to “get stronger” to compete in the WNBA. Thugs need to actually be suspended, and common basketball fouls should be called according to the rules and not treating it like the 80s NBA.

  11. ESPN is trying so hard to not criticize Angel Reese , even though she deserves the most blame. She's the star not Chennedy, Reese had the awful reaction to the cheap shot foul. But I guess Angel earned herself protection from the media (even when she acts like trash like she did on Saturday) after her "boohoo everyone sexualizes me" post-game press conference when LSU lost to Iowa.

  12. Sometimes when people are growing up, they are taught discernment. An example would to learn the difference between "playing hard" and "assault. She's a violent, angry, and racist player.

  13. Yeah, no. This is not rookie treatment. The players have talked about CC much more, and more worse, than other rookies in the past. They've worked hard to get where they are, and they want to stay. And they don't want the sports world's darling taking anything from them. That part is understandable. But dont bite the hand that feeds you. Everything they've worked hard for is going to come in spades because of the new blood. It is what it is. So just play ball and reap the benefits.

  14. The hate and jealous woman of the WNBA are real. Take advantage of C.Clark helping the league become more popular than ever these days. Not smart for these players!!

  15. This is total ignorance, the referee should have called this a flagrant foul. It's BS that we're happy having this conversation. What do you think will happen if someone injures her and she's out for the season, millions of people will just stop watching. Being physical is not the issue, being blindsided and unable to defend yourself is another.

  16. To Chennedy Carter, what CC brings to the table is a paycheck. Keep punching the cash cow and see how it turns out for you. Not very intelligent.

  17. What a disgusting apologist. Having her black sista's back. Yea, it's just the way it is. Clark should quit, play in Europe, and bankrupt the WNBA.

  18. I think the NBA should look let Clark play she has one of the best shots and then I won't have to watch this league…Clark is Brady times 10 as far as the WNBA. Just suspend anyone who fouls her lol. NO one cares about anyone outside of like 5 players currently.
