🚨JUST IN: Klay Thompson & Warriors NOT CLOSE On Contract Extension Per Report | Warriors Rumors

[Music] is the writing on the wall and is Klay Thompson gone after 13 years with the Golden State Warriors we’re talking about all of that on today’s Warriors today by chat sports I’m Chase senior thank you so much as always for choosing us to be a part of your day hope you all had a great weekend and your weeks are off to a good start Anthony Slater esteemed Warriors reporter saying no notable movement from either side has been made towards a resolution on a Klay Thompson contract extension and he very well could leave the dubs here’s what Slater had to say in the athletic the Warriors maintain a desire to retain Thompson at the right price once other aspects of their roster retool get clarified but they have not exactly been beating down his door to working out the framework for an extension which can be signed at any time in turn the 34-year-old Thompson appears ready to test free agency Waters exploring external options for the first time in his career you read that from a writer like Anthony Slater and you look at some of the verbiage used the Warriors are down to have him back at an affordable price they’re not knocking on his door and Klay Thompson is at least exploring maybe leaving the Warriors and you come away with that thinking shoot there is a real chance this dynastic run with Steph Curry Klay Thompson Draymond Green could be over and there’s a real chance Klay Thompson could leave and the time is ticking in what has been an incredible stretch of basketball in the Bay Area before we get some more on this cuz I have a lot of thoughts and we have a lot of information to bring you make sure you subscribe to the channel as you can see here with the figures to my right we’re closing in on 63,000 subscribers I’m back in the saddle hosting this show the content daddy is returned and any updates that we get on Klay Thompson we have you covered right here on Golden State Warriors today as for the teams interested in clay a couple of them mentioned by Anthony Slater as far as being suitors for his Services still a good two-way player he can knock down the three good clip shooting the three ball last year and he’s not the Premier Defender that he once was when he was locking down the likes of LeBron James kawii Leonard and Kevin Durant some of the best wings in the NBA but he could still get the job done on that end of the floor Orlando Magic they have been the team most talked about as being interested in clay young Core group of players just made it to the playoffs surprisingly this past year took it to seven games in the first round against the Cleveland Cavaliers and with Palin Carro France Vagner a couple of really good pieces on that team they want that veteran to help push them to that next level and in the playoffs where did they struggle shooting the long ball where does Klay Thompson Excel shooting the long ball then you go to a team like the Philadelphia 76ers most cap space in the NBA you have Tyrese Maxi and Joel embiid two star players they’re looking for a third option or a fourth option who can knock down the three be a good floor spacer and be comfortable playing off ball and not necessarily having to have the basketball all that much sounds like Klay Thompson could be an option there and the Oklahoma City Thunder number one seed in the Western Conference this past year they lost to the Mavericks because Luca donic and Kyrie Irving were going nuclear they were terrific down the stretch they were terrific in the Western Conference finals against the Timberwolves but the Mavs bench was also really good the Thunder seemed to be a player or two short in that rotation they brought in Gordon Hayward at the trade deadline but they didn’t play him at all in the playoffs so they could use another bench player another veteran maybe another starter a floor spacer and again for reasons that I said with the Orlando Magic Klay Thompson could work there trying to propel them from being a playoff team to going on a Deep Run and being a legitimate Bonafide NBA champion ship Contender I doubt that Klay Thompson signs a signs a long-term deal like he did in 2019 I just don’t see that happening but he could still command big money on a shorter deal and Anthony Slater said in that story Klay Thompson might not necessarily chase the bag he wants to get paid for his services and of course he’s very well accomplished in this league he wants to win so because of that those other teams on that list they make some sense and the gold State Warriors make some sense as far as a return but they only make sense if the price is right does Golden State want to use that much cap on Clay you are paying Steph Curry a lot of money you’re paying Draymond Green a lot of money you can’t really afford to go into the realm of$ 25 $30 million I don’t think for Klay Thompson you look at the numbers over the last four years and of course age concern the cling play concern injuries a concern but he has done a lot to improve his stock in that category because the last two years he’s played 69 games and 76 games when you look at the numbers for clay the last two years they’ve passed the statistical box score test 22 points per game two years ago 43 a. half% from the floor 41% from three-point range last year you got 18 points per game 43% from the field 38 and a half% from three-point range those numbers are really good I know he struggled mightily at the start of last year after the All-Star break started to play a little bit better and could that do wonders for his Market in free agency here’s also the thing for the dubs I could tell you this Steph Curry wants Klay Thompson back jermond green probably wants Klay Thompson back Steve Cur said after the season we need Klay Thompson back so if you want to stay competitive you’re in this Zone and you’re in this territory where you know if you bring clay back you could still compete you still need to make a lot of other changes and additions on that roster but if you have Steph Curry Klay Thompson Draymond Green I still think that you can be a competitive team if you stack up the rest of your squad you let them go it’s a pretty big makeover for Golden State culturally basketball wise and just the overall feel of your organization given everything that he’s been a part of do you want the Warriors to resign Klay Thompson that is today’s poll question let us know down in the comments section why for yes and for no coming up next here on the show just around the corner keeping Clay versus letting him walk what is the correct decision for Golden State stay tuned for that conversation but first make sure you sign up with prize picks if you’re into playing daily fantasy sports prize picks makes deadly fantasy sports easy you pick two or more players you choose more or less on their projected stats and you can win up to 25 times your money you get a $100 deposit match at price.com clns looking ahead to the NBA finals getting underway on Thursday Boston Celtics Dallas Mavericks give me the Mavs in six Jason Tatum there’s a special for him more than a half Point Easy Money Derek Lively more than a half assist all he has to do is Notch one dime and then Daniel Gafford more than six rebounds that’s how easy it is to pick your lineup with prize picks win big money withdraw your winnings pick more pick less I’m telling you pick prize picks at priz picks.com CNS a few options here that we can discuss option number one you resign Klay Thompson option number two you let him walk the under talked about and under discussed option number three a sign entry so that you can get some good value back option number one resigning Klay Thompson that is the most likely option right you keep the splash Bros together and you hope that the young Talent develops enough to be competitive in the west but then you need a couple of players to step up Randon psky Jonathan kaminga pods good last year for a rookie and I thought he made some really good strides on both ends of the floor can he get up to 15 points per game with the shooting number staying the same at 45% and then 38.5% from Deep good rebounder for his size can dish out a couple of Dimes here and there nine points per game as a rook pretty good and then Jonathan kaminga really breaking out last year having the best year of his season or of his career excuse me with 163 16.3 points per game little less than five rebounds two dimes 53% from the floor he needs to get better from long range though I don’t think that the Golden State Warriors want to trade either one of those players because they see what they can become as you look ahead into the future and speaking of looking ahead into the future producer chip let’s get the YouTube short camera ready to go because I have some more thoughts on the Warriors moving forward right now what a fascinating offseason it’s going to be for the Golden State Warriors you have the stable of veterans and Steph Curry and Draymond Green and then the big looming question do you bring back Klay Thompson or not if the price is right the Warriors could look into that regardless I think it’s really important for the Warriors to keep some of their young pieces in place that includes Jonathan kaminga and Brandon psky we have seen the strides that kaminga has been able to make we see the potential for pods and and if you make some other additions on this team regardless of whe whether or not Klay Thompson comes back or not you have Steph Curry you have Draymond Green a couple of those young pieces it allows you to be competitive now but then also maintain your competitiveness into the future I think the Warriors in turn remain their deepest and their future is the most promising by keeping Jonathan kaminga Brandon pjmy not trading them and then that’s a pretty good Collective core as you look ahead into the future so with that we ask you this question do you believe in the two Young Guns and do you believe in them for the Long Haul B for believe D for don’t let me know right now down below in the comment section option number two for the Warriors you let Cay Thompson walk and this is just going to be one of those emotional decisions that’s really hard to make it would be a sad day for Golden State 13 years in the bay the personality that he has the positivity that he exudes the calmness that he’s had the big shots that he’s made the big moments in the playoffs the four titles all of it but Joe lob wants Less on his books as the owner and agent injuries may not make a deal worth it here’s what Joe lob had to say earlier this calendar year in February our plan one or 1A is actually we’d like to be out of the tax and we think that we have a way to do that that kind of is the plan not just under the second apron I’ll tell you why that’s important because the truth is that we need to be out of the tax two years out of the next four below the tax line in order to get this repeater thing off of our books that’s what you heard from the Warriors owner here and now let’s talk more about Klay Thompson and get back on that YouTube short train Klay Thompson is a franchise icon 13 years in the bay the positivity that he exudes the personality that he has the big plays in the shots that he’s been able to make throughout his Warriors career the four titles that he’s won throughout his stretch with golden state drafted developed become a stud he’s turned into one of the best two-way players in the history of the NBA here’s the issue though if the Warriors let clay go they still can’t afford to sign outside free agents for any more than the taxpayer mid-level exception or the vet men and that’s why I think it’d be a great move for the Golden State Warriors to bring back Klay Thompson for about 20 $25 million per year because it helps you this year you can still compete for an NBA championship and even if you let him go it’s not like you’re going to get sizeably better so bringing back clay makes sense for your team as well as Klay Thompson you lose clay and you let another team get better now cap clearing moves for Golden State here clay walks in free agency that’s $ 43.2 million off your bucks but clay making 43 last year him going down to 2025 that’s why I talk about it being a bargain for the Warriors here you let Chris Paulo that’s $30 million if you decline his option what if you trade Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green that’s more money that you can open up to be a true player in NBA free agency now you likely don’t improve making all of those moves unless you have a good backup plan you let go of clay you decline the option for Chris Paul you trade one of Wiggins or Draymond Green you better hope that you can land a Paul George a LeBron James if he declines his option you better hope that you can make a trade for a Donovan Mitchell a Kevin Durant a Trey young that type of player who really moves the needle for your basketball team and then option number three is a signing trade for Klay Thompson this is the most unlikely but there’s a chance to get some value for clay and for clay to thank Golden State for his career there you lose him it’s a big loss but then you get some players back and you’d be looking for depth here it’d still be a roster makeover on the fly but you can at least get some pieces back a clay signning trade with Orlando does this interest you you get Jonathan Isaac injury concerns but a good player and then Wendell Carter that answers the question in the front Court then the magic received Klay Thompson and cavon Looney you also saved some money in making that move it solves the big issue at the center position and your defense also improves a lot because both Carter and Isaac help you in that regard what does it also do if you truly believe as an organization as a basketball unit that Jonathan kaminga can be your number two option that move allows kaminga to be that number two it’s a risk because he would have to take a monster leap but could at least happen pick a move to make resign clay that’s option number one let him walk that’s option number two a sign and trade that is option number three share your thoughts with us down below in the comment section we always love interacting with all of you and don’t forget 1. DUB NATION! Do you want the Warriors to re-sign Klay Thompson? Type ‘Y’ for Yes, ‘N’ for No

  2. Klay needs to stay but draymond needs to go. Draymond gone will attract a good stretch forward and maybe a decent center that will give them some rim protection. This will give Klay better spacing which will give him better scoring opportunities. Draymond brings too much drama to attract any free agents worth wild. I keep hearing people say that we can’t win without Draymond but we haven’t been able to win with him the last 2 years. We don’t need any more guards. We don’t need Paul George; he can’t stay on the court and I have never seen him impact winning in the post season. Lebron is a big NO because he wants to control everything and he doesn’t contribute to winning either. All he does is leave teams when it gets tough and he can’t win. The only exception is the Lakers and that’s because not many teams wanted to take on his salary and he can’t solicit anyone to team up with him anymore. Plus I think Lacob should not even consider signing Bronny. Chris Paul needs to go as well. Not that he didn’t help a bit but we need that 30mil. I also think that Wiggins will play a lot better with Draymond gone. Draymond did help win those championships but he is also one of the big reasons KD left, he destroyed Poole, who fit perfectly, and he cost us so many games because of his childish behavior and attitude. Besides, Wiggins and Looney were tight with Poole and I think the chemistry has been off since the punch.

  3. A sign and trade with Orlando is something that’ll be nice we get assets who can help us immediately but it’ll hurt to lose Klay

  4. Need let Klay walk, he isn’t what he used to be and we paying him more than enough! To much to me be honest, need trade him before he isn’t worth anything and get someone younger

  5. N Warriors aren't a playoff team no matter what they do. Just keep and play the young guys and don't waste money on a team that won't be in the playoffs.

  6. See you later Klay. You got hurt and got paid for 2 years straight now, youre trying to get more money.

  7. Yup Klay needs to go and we need weapons of mass destruction…Draymond the UFC fighter needs to go too. They got rid of KD when they shoulda dropped Draymond. Don’t listen to the fans build this team around Steph….he is on his last ride and players like Klay n dray are wasting his last years of high level basketball..Get some real players who can score and make offense pop.
