The roster includes all 12 players who were a part of the World Cup winning squad last year, which include four current NBA players: Dennis Schroder (Nets), Franz and Mo Wagner (Magic), and Daniel Theis (Clippers); as well as seven current Euroleague players: Isaac Bonga, Andreas Obst, Niels Giffey (Bayern Munich), Maodo Lo, Johannes Voigtmann (Olimpia Milano), Johannes Thiemann (Alba Berlin) and Justus Hollatz (Anadolu Efes). The remaining player of the championship winning roster is David Kramer (Granada).
Euroleague players Nick Weiler-Babb (Bayern Munich), Oscar da Silva and Louis Olinde (Alba Berlin), and Eurocup champion Leon Kratzer (Paris) complete the list.
Knicks center Isaiah Hartenstein recently expressed his desire to play for the German national team, given his German roots via his father and him living in Germany throughout his childhood, but didn't find his name on the announced roster.
Mavericks forward Maxi Kleber was left off the German roster again, after not playing at the last World Cup and having a spat with the NT captain Dennis Schroder, because of Kleber declining the invite to play at the last EuroBasket.
Head coach Gordon Herbert has a 3-year commitment plan in place, where the players had to commit to playing at both the EuroBasket and the World Cup if they wanted to be on the Olympic roster, which he's obviously staying faithful to and which is the main reason for Hartenstein and Kleber being left off the team.

You mean German league futball star Dennis Schroeder?
I’m assuming hartenstein rejected the offer either for rehab or some other reason because otherwise Germany not having him in the squad is asnine
That’s okay guys, come play for Canada we need centers
Give us Dirk one more time- who doesn’t wanna see Dirk vs LeBron for olds time’s sake?
Aussies are running Lauren Jackson again and she’s like 43 or something
Prolly Hartenstein’s chance is after Gordie’s gone..this will be his last tourney for Deutschland.
Fair. They didn’t commit before because of various reasons, like injury recovery. So the team made other plans. Gold squad definitely deserves to go to the Olympics.
Team USA should do the same for the future.
Whoever isnt available for the World Cup shouldnt be nominated for Olympics.
This way you assure continuity.
Good. The team works without Kleber and he’s already unable to make it through an NBA season uninjured
I watched the redeem team documentary and it’s nuts how far the international game has come. Like that Germany team is actually stacked
They didn’t want to deal with EG spamming the German national team Reddit with Hartenstein posts
damn…
Oscar da Silva isn’t playing for Alba Berlin anymore. He is in Barcelona since 2022 and apparently signing with FC Bayern München this off-season.
I hope the World Cup can keep growing and become THE international bball tournament.
