they have to have these guys on their team cuz that’s it there are no choices there are no other things they can do there is no tomorrow yeah Tim Bon hoop Collective podcast talking about the Suns the big move they’ll make this off season is reigning Royce O’Neal Grayson Allen already in the fold there’s truth to that there’s truth to the Royce O’Neal thing too um they have to go above and beyond again increasing their own luxury tax bill to resign a player of Royce O’Neal’s quality because they can’t find anything close to that on the free agent Market without having a great deal of luck involved and let’s talk about that too the Phoenix Suns and and Tim bonm and Brian windhorst are very much correct in assuming that this is going to be a lot of minimum players again will it be different some of the some of those guys are going to be back some of them will pick up their options some won’t some will be gone but the Suns for two years now have had just awful luck in Catching lightning in a bottle with players it’s hard to catch lightning in a bottle it is and I wonder if the philosophy during the regular season needs to change to rely on these guys more in the regular season so when the playoffs roll around there’s some confidence um they did they did get a career Year from Grayson Allen though but Grayson Allen has thr in that trade but he’s not a I mean I don’t consider him a role player anymore he’s in the starting lineup he’s playing 35 minutes a game you know when when you got to go to your bench mhm they they had terrible luck with Landry shamut they had terrible luck with with Eric Gordon yeah um Drew EU Banks wasn’t Drew Eubanks look Drew Eubanks became The Whipping Boy for the Suns fan base and I get it he’s a backup center I mean what were what were Suns fans expecting well yes but but that’s the cautionary Tale the cautionary tale is Phoenix Arizona basketball fans in the valley do not get overwhelmed with false optimism when your team signs four or five guys that you suddenly imagine are going to be great fits and was guilty of it I what was I last July was it right every that that one day where there was like six or seven guys every time on social media every single guy people were fantasy uh you know booking on the team like wow it was a genius marketing movei finally is gonna this is the Sharpshooter they were missing it it was a genius marketing move cuz it created this idea that everybody wants to be here and and look at and look at how we just went and made our roster hole in one day well it it turned out that basketball teams are a bit more complicated than that building them is a bit more complicated than that particularly fitting players around this Confluence of stars here in Phoenix where there is no there is really no Alpha yet in the room so I I think I think this team is clearly it’s what are the options here there’s the LeBron scenario i/ fantasy was that was that kicked out the window with news that Darin ham was offered a job on on Mike buen holser staff because he’s the guy that just got fired in Los Angeles yes the way it was phrased Mark Stein put that report out there that buen hoer approached Darvin ham about joining the staff and declined ham declined because of two exacting Seasons yeah yeah exactly so but the question but like as we talked about yesterday there is a uh prevailing sense of yawn coming from Lakers writers and analysts about Lebron leaving the Lakers either they are really have their heads buried in the sand or they or they’re much more grounded in reality than we are that LeBron would never sacrifice that kind of money for this kind of paternal fantasy okay again then I don’t know what the suns are doing here working out brownie but I guess we’re going to find all this out so let’s take LeBron off the table then what does this team do we’re putting an awful lot into Mike buen holer creating a vibe in a system that just that elevates these big the the big three which then Elevate everybody else around them that’s really what the hope is because where are you going to find great basketball players are not just sitting there going hey Phoenix I’m the answer to your prayers there’s nothing special about Phoenix no when they assembled the big you know first when they brought in Kevin Durant everyone’s going to want to play with Durant and Booker then when they brought in Beal everyone’s going to want the suns are not a unique team in the NBA anymore and that people are going to run to play with them because of their Championship uh expectations I’m going to amend what you said I I do think that in in Optimum conditions you would be wrong there would be something special about we would be as good as Miami not as good but we would be in the same boat as Miami and la and and maybe a couple other cities but the lack of joy and the lack of energy coming off of last year’s team who would want to voluntarily come to a team that looks that disconnected I’ll take exception to what Jared said on a on a different front I I do think they’re unique I do think they’re still what was the word you used who the hell knows special special he said there’s special about special about Phoenix you still I mean Kevin Durant is is still a gravitational pull the league players want to play he’s idolized by players in the league currently but if you’re a vet player a vet bench player Sixth Man seventh man are you going to want to come to Phoenix or you going to want to come go to Oklahoma City or Minnesota or one of these young up and coming teams you’re not running here I mean no but again I I I I have to tell you this we’re two days away from the NBA final starting and the Dallas Mavericks are representing the Western Conference mhm last year at this time if I would have told told you the Mavericks are going to be in the finals next year with the Kyrie Luca donic partnership working out to this degree You’ say you’re nuts but it wasn’t just that it was those trade deadline Maneuvers they made that the suns are not they cannot pull off they have caught the lightning that the Suns have not yeah that’s true and they had their super duper Stars play like super duper stars in the right moments but this is look the Dallas Mavericks are and maybe this is a a a beacon to the Suns don’t punt on number 22 in the draft don’t punt on it by not by trading it don’t punt on it by drafting a project that can’t help you Derek Lively is a big part of what the Dallas Mavericks are doing now he was drafted higher than 22 but you can find guys that can help you the Suns just have not put any young players in that scenario to have them develop to get comfortable so a lot some of it’s luck I’m not going to say the sons have had bad luck but a lot of is their own doing too yeah but but given their limitations are you really confident in their ability to find difference makers I I don’t know I don’t I’ll have to see it to believe it I I mean do I feel confident about it no with the sun’s recent draft history plus this crop of draes not being over overwhelming somebody’s going to come in somebody’s going to come in from 10 to 20 and help a basket an NBA team yeah it’s just a matter of your H finding the right person finding finding the skill set and finding the fit thanks for watching Bickley
