this is a special place as a sense of Pride that you have to have to play here I can only imagine if you hung one of those banners up it would be incredible pressure was in my life when I was 13 I leave pressure every day I want to win championship here just being back in this position it’s been a long time coming it’s time to move forward I truly do believe my time is coming let something they’re heading back to the NBA finals the drive for Banner number 18 will continue got it got it Luca donic and Kyrie uran show going to the NBA [Applause] finals there is nothing better than the NBA Finals Boston’s in the way in between our goals we are back what a match up in store MTH season five time Allstar LCA donic and Jason Tatum lead the charge for both these squads Luca won the NBA scoring title this season and looks to become the first player to win the scoring title and NBA Championship in the same season since sha in 2000 all right the crew is back Stephen aan and Monica Shay I want to start with you who’s had the better career thus far would you go Luca or Tatum ah man considering nether has a a title I’m going to say Luca if you look at Luca he’s a five-time first team all NBA selection along with those five Allstar selection he’s averaging 28.7 points per game if I’m not mistaken that would be third that that that would be third all time if I’m not mistaken behind Mike behind wil and sitting in and sitting in the third spot and what he’s able to do on a nightly basis gaming and game I don’t think anybody think at this point that Luca has underachieved given what’s been placed around him I think some people feel that Jason Tatum given the team that he’s been surrounded with losing last losing last year losing uh uh played as poorly as he did against the uh Golden State Warriors in the in the uh NBA Finals um I would take I would take Luca’s career thus far both guys are far from being done but if you you know you this is what we do you we ask tough questions here on first take I would take Luca’s career right now over JT’s this is a tough question an I’m glad that you listen I was like oh man come on y’all like let’s start this final so we have to do this um I actually I’m going to go with Tatum same thing three all NBA selections the five time all stars like we saw in the graphic but I think winning is hard and I understand the argument that Jason Tatum and the Celtics may have underachieved in the eyes of some I mean there were plenty of us that thought they were going to win that 2022 Championship but I think going to two finals uh now his second and three Conference Finals and winning a Conference Finals uh MVP like I think being closer to the promise I’m going to give Jason Tatum the edge in this conversation but this is a very tough question it’s a very very tough question I don’t blame y’all for having a tough time with it because I know that I did um but I’m G to go with Jason Tatum believe it or not um here’s a couple things Luc has been in the league for six years he’s missed the playoff twice and he’s been out of the first he’s been bounced out in the first round twice so four to six years he either hasn’t gotten past the first round or hasn’t made it to the first round at all uh you know the two times the two other times it was a confence finals appearance and now this his first NBA Finals appearance now I will say this about Luca points assist and rebounds along with field goal percentage shooting he’s gotten Jason tayum beat but do you know that in Jason Tatum’s seven years in the NBA he’s only been bounced out in the first round one time he’s been the five Conference Finals and now his second NBA Finals appearance and when you look at that kind of resume that’s where I think he gets the edge he hasn’t been going home early now having said all of that to piggy back off of what both of y’all said it is a tough one because obviously numbers don’t tell the whole story I would tell you this this question is definitively answered in this championship series whatever I answer is now it doesn’t matter this series will provide a definitive answer to this question let me tell you why I took Luca because if you look at yeah you say he’s went to those he’s uh he’s went to a five Eastern Conference Finals he was favored look at when he lost to Cleveland they were favored when they lost to the they lost to Miami they were favored name the time that Luca lost the Series in which he was favored think about he went up against the Clippers in their Prime Kawai was playing Paul George was playing he took them seven games by himself so if I were to put if I were to take Luca and put if I take Luca and I put him on if I put him on Boston and I take JT and I put him in in in Dallas and that’s the only thing that I’m changing the same roster in Boston is going to be there for Luca and the same roster that had coming up through Dallas what you think happen Stephen A what you think happened Monica well but here’s where you here’s where I think you messed up Shay here’s where I think you messed up I get your point but you got to remember what we’re looking at Luca now we didn’t see before you see Luca stepping stuff up defensively you see Luca complaining to the referees less you see him being more diplomatic or or more judicious you see him being more differential now obviously he believes in Kyrie more than he believed in porzingis for example or somebody else so we get that part I take those things into consideration I get what you’re saying but I’m just saying looking at him in a vacuum not really paying that much attention to why he may have been the way that he was and that’s not to say it was all bad because Luca was great he averaged 21 points as a rookie for crying out loud I’m just simply saying looking at him now that’s not what we were seeing years ago it wasn’t what we were seeing when he was playing under Rick carile compared to what we’ve seen him do under Jason kid there is a difference in Luca now compared to what it was two three four years ago and I you did that thing you did that thing uncle you kind of changed the question because if you were to flip-flop these two guys obviously now you’re having a conversation about what it looks like in the potential moving forward as opposed to so far what has been accomplished and I just think team winning it’s it’s it’s hard better that’s what I’m saying but this is why I would give Jason Tatum the credit though what I’m saying like he’s gotten closer to the destiny now we probably could pick apart the help argument if you wanted to go there in terms of the roster that’s been around him but the question is better career so far and I think we would all want to get as close to the Larry O as possible yeah but that 28.7 all those triple doubles are 60 point a 6020 triple double and when you look at it there’s never been a question we’re asking question who’s the number one option who’s the best player on Boston are we sure Mo I ain’t answered don’t talk to me no that’s what we do huh listen I’ll say this to you I’ll say this to you I get where you going Shannon here’s what I would tell you the reason why that’s a legitimate question is not because of what we’ve seen in totality from Jason Tatum’s game it’s what we saw in the finals when Jaylen Brown was better than him that’s what’s being held against him cuz that’s why if it were not for that there would be no debate as to who the best player is on Boston but because we saw that now we here at the finals again and we like Jason Tatum you got to show us think about it there have been Series in which Luca has lost and Luca was the best player remember those times he lost to the Clippers was there any doubt in anybody mind who was the best player on the floor kawhai Paul Georgia Luca who was the best player MO but Shannon I mean yeah Lucas clearly was rolling but in career the best career like I know we not talking Hors shoes but if we have to choose between what we’re given you’re really taking the individual accolades over opportunities to compete for a final for a considering considering neither has won anything yeah I’m going to take the five First Team all NBA selections the Rookie of the Year yep me that’s what I’m gonna do all right Fair hey now hey that is what sh Shay will do yeah he hey but here’s the thing Stephen one guy got the Magic Johnson Award one guy got the Larry Bird award like you said we going to find out now ask this that question in about four
