when you put yourself in the category that you want to win a championship that’s a hell of a goal to set and it sets you up for failure there’s either a happy Landing or there’s a plane crash there’s no in between and a season for the obviously with the injuries he just sat down on Theo floor and Dave Lillard holding his left kneeon goes down in a heap again oh man oh no nothing you can do about that like we were not going to win with our injuries so this is something no bucks fan wants to see but that still doesn’t mean you’re not just as disappointed you don’t have a lot of opportunities to win titles you just don’t this one because of injury was taken away from us more than we lost it next year we hope to be healthy then we can go after it but still [Music] disappointment the Milwaukee Bucks are champions once again if you’re going to have fear deer you got to Fear the Deer [Music] [Applause] Damen lard requested a trade out of Portland and today he is on his way to the Milwaukee Bucks blackbuster deal that lands the Milwaukee Bucks all NBA guard Damon lard Dame time has come to Milwaukee Wisconsin you know I couldn’t be more excited I couldn’t be more thankful for this opportunity to be a part of this organization to play alongside the best player in the league let’s go y’all man as we embark on this new season man think about all the work we put in over the last couple weeks man Damien Lillard three-pointer flies doing what he does a hammer and the first inseason tournament quarterfinal here in Milwaukee is underway that’s an alley to remember it’s time for the semifinals in Las Vegas Nevada over to Dame Lillard who finds Giannis ho jannis going for 50 he’s got it Coast class hello history welcome to NBA Christmas presented by State Farm for the win D time third all time in bux scoring history it’s my honor today to introduce him as the next head coach of the Milwaukee Buck well hello Milwaukee Malik Beasley is on fire seven three-point makes give me one D oh you got to give me one d d time touch that watch baby NBA Allstar game best from the West against the best from the East his second half cour shot of The Game Stop It MVP goes to Damen Lillard swings it over to poby he’s got one more in him of course he does fourth all time in three-point history wow wow climbing the ladder and something to talk about Ajax and he un course a beauty he is absolutely unconscious three-pointer Malik Beasley a little shimmy and the Bucks go back out in front and Jay Crowder Yannis all the way a thunderous finished found it well you just hope they can ride some of those highs well once the playoffs start it’s a new season hav done this in a while what we got it’s April 9th I guess you kind of take us those couple steps on to the court against Boston kind of what you felt maybe how scary that situation was for you in the moment we got a good one for you tonight it’s the NBA on TNT the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks top two teams in the East they match up for one final time I feel a little bit of uh pain under my calf did not know what it was exactly so mentioned it Boston not a team to trifle with by any stretch Giannis is on the deck now behind the play and I’m not sure what this is all about I felt like somebody you know had like Trea me or something then I realized there was nobody behind me the first time in my career to have a how you say non contact injury he’s not getting up I don’t know what exactly he did here is he’s lying on his backside now he is being helped off the court so here we go and back did all the stuff like okay go out there and then when I kind of stepped again I got off the table and kind of did my few step I couldn’t and that’s when I knew that you know maybe something is something is off there’s like protocols that you have to follow and things that you have to like check have to check the boxes and I wasn’t even I wasn’t closing like checking the box and but I was trying to push myself and push myself and push myself and push myself to get to a place that maybe I don’t check the boxes but maybe I can just go even go out there you know and help but our opinion it was not safe for me to be out there because I had like I couldn’t run full speed I could run 30 to 40% Yannis was doing everything you have no idea the work he was trying to do to get back on the floor and his teammates they all saw that you can ask my my staff I don’t think I’ve ever wor this hard in my entire freaking life to get on the court and uh I feel like I let my teammates down as much as I know that injuries and happen and sometimes you cannot control that you cannot control your health but I I work extremely hard to get back and unfortunate I couldn’t be and um nothing that hurt me more than that [Music] yeah it was it’s hard see yeah you from from every aspect if you look at it you know there was a lot of ups and downs like this moments that we are clicking the moments that we not clicking which was also that was new for me it was a roller coaster of a year um but I think for me personally it was a year of growth more than anything my first time being a part of a different organization than the Trailblazers you know after 11 years picking up my my life and you know being away from my family and away from my kids being traded so late into the summer I’m playing for multiple coaches trying to find myself within you know a new Dynamic you know a new team a new organization playing with another Superstar player another great player in in K mid so just trying to find my space within that with everything else happening all at the same time I think it just um it was a lot for me to to fight through and um it was a a long year of that for me just a lot of growth you know a lot of uh getting used to new things and that was pretty much it Dame came in I think a week before training camp uh so that was a curveball also so to get a full off season where we know um what to expect about you know who’s going to be in that building some type of continuity it’s going to be great for us that stability you’re not uh kind of questioning and trying to figure out how it’s going to look moving forward D going to be here Chris going to be here Brook’s going to be here Bob’s going to be here and then uh we we go and try to fight with who we have and we we try to figure out a game and a game plan that complement you know our game and the way we play think about it Jann worked out all summer not knowing he was going to have Dame Dame worked out a little bit not knowing he was going to have Giannis Chris the same way now all three of them get to work out this summer knowing some of the things we’re going to do I told Yiannis and Dame I’m going to send them things for them to work on and they both were very excited about that I’m assuming Chris will like the same thing so that gives us an advantage you know when me Chris and uh Dame was on the floor and we were healthy we were one of the best offense in the NBA and you can go and check that up top Middleton sets up Chris Middleton knocking down is first for the night lard new rookie retakes the lead having Dame out there it makes the game easier yanis extends simple as that La pass yanis cleans it up and plunges it through mton is healthy he’s a problem Chris midleton the continuity part was very difficult to get any continuity we never really had a chance to create our offense that we wanted to create we did it on that West Coast trip and it was starting to cook good two-player game between Yannis and Dame D be jiannis for the dunk and then think Dane went out then Giannis went out but we’ll have that chance so I’m looking forward to it the last thing that I thought of this summer and in half the year was coaching the Milwaukee Bucks uh didn’t know I was going to do that I had no plans on coaching this year but then this opport opportunity came up and the the thought of coaching those three guys in this city this city played a big part in for me it really did that people don’t get that but it did and now this summer I can think about building this team and getting him right I believe in this team I really do I think our window is still very much open but we got to get it right and this summer is going to be huge I’m going to do whatever I can for this franchise I really am because it’s means more to me than I think you think usually right after the year you want to go take a break I can’t wait to get started get to camp and be able to put all the things we think we need cuz we want to win it we can do a lot of winning but you want to be the winner unless you’re the winner nothing else counts
