  1. The r/nba commentary on this is fucking hilarious. They’re discrediting Shaqs take by extrapolating 20 game sample sizes and analyzing the O RTG and season long winning pace. The hate for Kobe there is craaaaazy hahahaha

I think giving the ball to Shaq and having absolutely dominate Rik Smits, Keith van Horn and whatever garbage big men the Sixers ran out there was the right call by Phil Jackson.

It wasn’t an arbitrary decision. Obviously you want the guy with a handle to control the 4th when defenses tighten and you need to generate offense out of nothing. But also Shaq was such a dominant player that you want him to have as many shots at the rim as possible. So no, kobe wouldnt have won FMVP over Shaq

r/NBA when any NBA player praises Kobe: “BuT hIs aDvAnCeD mEtRiCs”

Shaq demolished those eastern teams idk how Kobe woulda won any unless Phil ignored his insane advantage he had there. No disrespect to Kobe but that’s why I feel Shaq won all the finals MVP’s

shaq really is a great revisionist

Anybody who actually watched those Playoff games can tell this is mostly true ( even if he’s been a bit generous). People on this site love to act as if kobe was carried thru those titles like a sideline guy or something.

So happy they made up before Kobe left us. Kobe was great but you can’t deny Shaqs utter dominance those years.

But he didn’t. You either do it or you don’t.

Shaq is saying what Phil said years ago and what Kobe said. All said the same thing PLUS Phil said he told them both that Kobe will win the west and Shaq will win the finals. Kobe sacrificed his numbers and everything to win, no one wants to talk about it cause Shaq was finals mvp so Kobe was carried. The narrative created to hate on Kobe

Find another player that played “second fiddle” for a three peat and then goes on again to repeat later as the primary guy. It’s a unique case. To me it makes me think Kobe could have been the primary guy in his earlier championship days if he wanted to.
